Bannatyne Health Club & Spa Ashford

Negative experience: I had an invitation as a guest recently by a friend who is a member there. I wanted to have a look before I go for the membership. I’m not very impressed. The pool itself is dirty, long hairs floating in the water, on the bottom of the pool you see rubbish. No staff around the pool. The saunas are tiny. The jacuzzi was full of dirty foam. I saw rust, dirt, peeling paints, torn, old furnitures in the cafe. For that amount of money a month I expected something better. I thought Bannatyne is a posh club but unfortunately just an overpriced tired place.

Negative experience: I purchased a 55-minute massage for two through Red Letter days for Bannatyne Ashford for my wife and daughter, expecting a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, they found the environment to be very noisy and cold, which completely took away from the relaxing atmosphere they were hoping for. For a premium service, this was incredibly disappointing and definitely not worth the cost. I wouldn’t recommend it based on their experience.

Positive experience: Was given a spa day for a gift. Staff were friendly, changing rooms and showers clean. Pool, steam room and sauna nice. Treatments were lovely. A shame the relaxation room is next to gym and possibly the weights as on & off could hear loud thudding noises and slight vibrations

Negative experience: Customer service isn’t any help I have told them that I cannot be there anymore and given private evidence and they still refuse to cancel my membership, honestly just a nasty company that doesn’t care about their members, pool area is disgusting and makes you ill and the free weight area in the gym is too small to accommodate all the members.

Positive experience: Went with my friend as a birthday spa treat day We had a fab time and really enjoyed it Lunch was included and a complimentary hot drink which was a pleasant bonus I had a great Elemis facial and neck and arm massage by Shannon which was absolutely fantastic The only reason I haven't given 5 stars was the blunt and rude front desk lady on arrival onto the building downstairs She was an older lady with short grey hair who told us off (I'm not joking) for not completing the online consultation forms before we arrived??? We both work very hard & didn't realise this online form would be such an issue if not completed as it took no time to do when we arrived In fact her sneering manner was highly unnecessary! She needs a crash course in basic customer service Luckily that not so endearing individual had left the front desk by the time we left and her replacement was a breath of fresh air and couldn't of been more efficient and lovely

Fantastic experience: I just wanted to share my amazing experience during my visit! It was my first time having a facial, and Sophie was absolutely incredible. She made me feel so relaxed, and my skin looked fantastic after the treatment. Sophie also did my nails, which turned out beautifully! The entire team was so polite and friendly, creating such a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to visit again very soon! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Positive experience: Very nice spa treatment although the head massage could have done with massaging the back of my head and not just the top. Overall the back massage and facial were lovely. However the scone in the café was hard, and the lady with coloured dyed hair used her hand to take it from the display no gloves or prongs. As a food hygiene specialist this fell below expectations and standards. In fact I didnt get a feeling that food hygiene practices were done in general as when the second lady ( blonde with glasses) was handling Avocado and scooping with a spoon she did so with bare hands.. you could see the mashed Avocado was getting on her fingers yet it all made its way to the plate. The lady on the main reception who had a floral type headband and spoke with an accent was delightful and very helpful. However when I came back to ask a question her back was to me so she didn't know I was waiting ( not a problem) she was talking to a taller lady maybe with glasses who seemed more senior who actually did see me and continued her conversation about someone perhaps a child who was struggling with English as a subject but was OK at maths. Clearly personal but decided to finish what she was talking about rather than address me, I was looking right at her. The other lady finally turned now that the other had finished her personal convo and apologised for not seeing me and dealt with my query. This same lady with glasses was showing around what seemed to be a new starter later that day, and mentioned the staffing area noting that it's not great ( speaking negatively) which I found unprofessional, she also was helping the café staff with an issue with a ongoing leak of sorts as she noted the towels being used to soak the water up being wet the next day ( the towels we use as customers?) Although I'm sure they're washed this was a little gross. Overall the sauna and pool were very nice to use ( my eye did burn while in the jacuzzi), the first lady on reception and the therapist were great, (besides the banging of the gym equipment which takes away from the relaxation) better customer service needs to shown from 3 other staff members I came into contact with

Negative experience: Facilties in the changing rooms and around the pool are dirty and not cleaned very well. The hot hub has been out of order for over a month now and alot of things broken. Not worth the membership price.

Negative experience: Place is dumb. You pay bannatynes prices but get summerfields facilities ( even worse ) hot tubs didn’t work although it said they were being repaired a week earlier. Service was rushed and in no way personal. Would never return. Waste of time and money

Negative experience: Purchased a spa day through virgin experience days. Mortified. Pool was filthy, eyes were burning and watering the whole time goodness knows what was in the water. Freezing cold, only 4 beds around the pool. “Relaxation room” next to the gym which all you hear is banging from the weights, literally shakes the room. Beds were cold not even working, room was freezing. Not relaxing at all. Purchased 3 treatments for £169 totalling 65 minutes. Appointment was at 4, collected us at 4:10, Chose the treatments prior arrival but was then told we could change… anyway had the treatments not sure if it was because it was a Sunday and they were due to go home but the treatment felt rushed and hurt even after asking for lighter pressure. I get regular body scrubs and massages this one was awful. We was then told it was finished, we only had two treatments and was finished by 4:55pm… Again rooms were freezing not relaxing at all. AVOID!!

Negative experience: I'd give a half star if I could. I truly have never been so cringed out and demoralised at how rude and unprofessional this establishment is in Ashford. Tried to resolve an issue with customer service and head office regarding character defamation and got absolutely nowhere - only to be eventually made aware that "we are just a number" which ultimately brought great comical value to me. I asked about why the noise from the gym was so loud, considering we were supposed to be in a "relaxing and calming environment"; only to be told that there was nothing that could be done. If that's the case, very very poor planning when building the premises. We were asked if we would like to move to a different area within the location to continue treatment - of course I declined based on the fact that there clearly couldn't be anywhere else in the gym that would match the environment they so highly regard and describe. After the manager Eric listened to our concerns, we were offered a complimentary coffee and was told in confidence thst we could speak to Michelle after about 15 minutes. 30 minutes passed and after enquiring, we were told that Michelle was infact not available to speak to. My partner and I were assured that we would be contacted about the issue, however when we did receive correspondence it was in the form of character defamation and threats involving the Police if I returned to premises. What perplexed me was the reasoning behind their explanation. Why would you allow a "supposedly very aggressive man" to enjoy a complimentary coffee in Starbucks/Reception and instead not call security or in fact the Police? The inconsistencies emphasise how unprofessional this location is and also how unprofessional the staff members were on the day. To Matthew Brown from head office, I really do hope you manage to discover a better and happier attitude in life as you truly must have some really negative reasons behind who you are as a person. I've never come across such an embarrassing example of a man, and hope you find comfort in approaching someone to talk about the issues you have that clearly leech out when dealing with situations. It brings me the utmost pleasure to know that I will never again waste my time nor money with this business and with that said, regardless of whether I had previously had a wonderful experience in Hastings Bannatyne. I will ensure that anyone I know who books something at Ashford Bannatyne will be shown all the correspondence relevant to such a situation so that they do not fall victim to your negativity, oppression and defamation.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars are given to the service provided by Paniz Haider, who went above and beyond to help me with some struggles on booking a wonderful experience in which I am looking forward to having. If it wasn't for the help of Paniz, I'd never have been able to book my experience correctly, which included 4 guests. Paniz is a credit to the Ashford team and deserves some recognition! I'm extremely grateful for her help, support, and patients with me over the telephone. Thank-you again!

Negative experience: Would avoid if you wanted to go for a spa day, the massage was really nice but everything else apart from that was rubbish! The relaxation room was next door to the gym so all you could hear was heavy banging, the beds in the relaxation room were stone cold also down to issues they was having with them…the pool area only had 4 loungers that was always in use, the hot tub was pool temperature, not warm at all & you had other guests bombing into the pool which ruined the whole “relaxation” vibe. The whole experience felt like an over-priced community leisure centre overall.

Negative experience: Very disappointed experience with staff with lack of customer service skills, not enough loungers round pool for spa day customers. Pool area looking tired. Due to above day cut short. Would not recommend.

Positive experience: I was pleasantly surprised with my visit after reading some of the reviews. I was bought the voucher as a present. The staff were friendly and helpful. The changing room was clean. There is a charge to hire the robe/towel and flip flops which I was not aware of and you get back 50%. The treatment I received was 10/10 and the therapist was lovely. It's just a shame you hear banging from the gym whilst relaxing on the heated beds in the relaxation room. The pool in my opinion could have been warmer. I had lunch- a jacket potato and it was cooked to perfection, and again, friendly service received from the staff. The place overall doesn't have that relaxing spa feeling, but I will go again as I really enjoyed my treatment

Positive experience: Staff was very unhappy, they never help, quite rude, manager didn't interest about gym membership staff, they don't care about people wellness,I just very disappointed I like gym and pool but staff not helpful that's all.

Positive experience: Whilst I actually enjoy going to the gym and swimming apart from the odd few members of staff everyone needs to cheer up a bit or maybe get a job where you don't have to face customers . There is only a couple of members of staff that say hello and goodbye but fortunately other gym goers are really friendly so have exchanged pleasantries with them and even had some good advice on working out . I used the health smart start when I first joined and the session took about 5 mins with a very basic plan drawn up for me , my second one was canceled and I decide not to bother rebooking as I was getting more knowledge through other members and using online platforms for workouts . The gym and pool are clean and tidy and well maintained,the app isn't the best for a higher end gym . I think of some of the staff were more proactive and looked happier like cheerful lady who often opens up in the mornings it would be a much better place to train.

Positive experience: Spa treatments were lovely and the place looks very nice and clean. However this spa day was booked for us as a gift to be a relaxing day trip. Be aware children are allowed in the spa area which takes away some relaxation. We went on a Saturday as it was the only day we both had off together, if we go again it would be during term time during the week. There was also some hidden expenses which we weren’t aware of when booking.

Negative experience: Facilities weren't great. The lady on reception was helpful but the staff at the cafe were rude and the food was awful.

Positive experience: What can I say, Molly who did the facial and massage is absolutely amazing at her job. She was always making sure that I was ok, a thoroughly enjoyable treat. What let's the spa down, is when you're trying to relax in the spa lounge, the music and shouting from instructors in the gym next door is not very relaxing. I would come back however, so it didn't put me off that much!

Fantastic experience: Good facility for the membership fee. Plenty of equipment and nice spa area with pool and heat rooms. Everyone I’ve met there has been friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: Went to the Spa for a present from my daughter . After reading past reviews we were reluctant . We had a lovely day the spa treatments were lovely Shannon my therapist was fab . The pool . Hot tubs etc were all good.

Positive experience: Brought a spa day for my daughter as a Christmas gift and after reading the reviews I started to panic as I wanted to enjoy lovely relaxing morning with her.. I called ahead to check the booking was still going ahead as we live a distance from the place and didn’t want to be let down. Upon arrival we was greeted nicely by the receptionist and shown where to go to receive the pre-booked treatments and facilities. The hot stone beds was lovely and warm and free lemon water while waiting, we were collected by Molly and taken to the treatment room. Molly done my massage, foot massage and head massage and I must say that it was amazing!! Molly alway checked I was okay during treatment and she is very good at her job.. the only thing that let’s this place down and doesn’t give the girls credit for their amazing work is the noise from the gym and how loud their music is and weights being dropped on the floor which is not their fault. Changing area is clean and swimming pool was clean just a very slippery floor. But overall and good experience.

Negative experience: Disgusting place I really hate everything about this place if I could I wouldn’t even do one star because one star is a lot for it. The pool is always dirty and disgusting, The gym is always full of people and smells so bad and I hate the stuff members because they so rude and they don’t do them job properly.

Positive experience: We had a really nice time the second time here. The first time was a nightmare driving from Brighton to Ashford (2hours due to traffic) to get there to find out a beautician was sick so we had to rebook for another day but we did get to use the facilities on that day for free but had to wait for the water aerobics to finish so we could use the pool. The second time we had to be split up at different times instead of having a massage together and enjoying a spa day together. So 1 had a massage appointment at 11.30 and then the next appointment was at 12.15 so was a bit frustrating that twice we had been messed around. I did email that it was frustrating but I got ignored. I will give 10/10 for the massage the lady with blonde hair in a bun literally saved the day for me. She gave me 1 of the best massages ever!! Waiting in the calm room with the heated seats looks so relaxing and would be if you didn't get made jump by the people dropping heavy weights in the gym next door. Swimming pool, jacuzzi,sauna and steam room are more of a sports facility rather than a relaxing spa we still made the most of it but a few things definitely could be better especially communication

Negative experience: My daughters and I went for a spa treatments the facial and head massage I had lots of facial and this was the worst and the head massage wasn’t any better

Negative experience: Got there to be told our appointment times had changed, no email, no text, no phone call. I had to refuse the change as it did not fit in with our plans. Then the treatment we had booked was changed. Again I had to get stroppy to get the booked treatment. Not a professional setup. Very disappointed.

Positive experience: Staff were friendly but it didn't live up to my expectations. The towels and robes that you can pay to rent were clean but well used. One of the jacuzzis was not in use nor was one of the steam rooms. We had a couples massage. Despite having Elemis products everywhere the oil felt like regular oil and normally when I go for a massage I'm left a glass of water whilst I get dressed. Nothing here. That being said the actual massage was very relaxing.

Positive experience: I have a fantastic experience at Bannatyne's gym in Ashford! The facilities are top-notch with a wide range of equipment to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. One small suggestion for improvement would be to increase the frequency of their male changing-room and shower cleaning routine. While the gym , gym equipment, gym canteen & pool are generally clean, it would enhance the overall experience if the cleaning of the male change/shower area was done hourly on a daily basis, and perhaps every half hour during busy periods. This would ensure the gym remains spotless and hygienic throughout the day. Overall, I highly recommend Bannatyne's gym in Ashford for anyone looking for a great workout experience in a clean and friendly environment.

Positive experience: The spa facilities were avaerge 3/4 star at a push. The emails and confirmation we were given didn't match the receptionist emails so we have to wait an extra 30 minutes more for our treatments. Also I really wasnt keen on children being in the pool while i was trying to have a swim. I thought it was adult only hours i was there. But mainly wanted to mention Holly the therapist who did my partners and my back massage. She was fabulous. Listen to us. Both of us really enjoyed the pressure, techiques and felt freshed afterwards. We would go back just for other treatment from her.

Positive experience: The place is OK, require deep clean..one day pass is £30, the swim pool is not very big and found it full of old persons doing exercises..

Positive experience: Reviewing the gym: I’m extremely happy with the gym so far! They have a very good quantity of machines, most things you could possibly want. It’s never too busy, all the staff seem friendly. I’ve been with popular gyms in the past which I’ve found very intimidating due to the amount of influencers/serious gym goers, whereas everybody here is just so relaxed and getting on with their own thing which I much prefer. Good amount of parking, wristband system works really well. Only slightly disappointing thing is the lack of changing rooms downstairs. There are only a couple and you can be waiting a good 15 minutes if the person occupying it is sat on their phone watching YouTube videos…

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this gym for 6 months now and absolutely love it! The staff and members are so friendly and welcoming - the PT's are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful - even the coffee and food is fab!

Negative experience: Absolutely shameful gym. Terrible customer service from staff and Manager Hayley. Reported the high amount of dirt and dust on the gym floor, as well as complained about there being no soap in the upstairs male toilet for 3 weeks, rather than fix the issues they made personal allegations against me and terminated my contract. Locker rooms and Spa area constantly smelly and dirty, with numerous breakages of facilities. Wasted nearly two years here. Please look elsewhere in Ashford before committing. They don't even reply to emails.

Negative experience: A very honest review of a company I expected better from. We booked our spa day months in advance and had already paid for this too. We were phoned with 4 hours notice to say that our spa day has been cancelled due to two members of staff calling in sick and one in hospital. We were then told we could call back and rearrange a new date by Charlotte. I phoned back and asked to speak to Charlotte who was not available at this time so Val said she would pass the message on and get her to call straight back. 20 minutes had passed and still no phone call from Charlotte. I phoned back and got through to Val, I gave my name which Val did not hear the first time so I had to repeat myself. Val made a point of saying she had already spoken to me this morning so I told Val that I was waiting for the call back to rearrange my days as there is little time till Christmas and I have a very tight schedule. Val told me she doesn’t have a crystal ball and couldn’t tell me what time Charlotte would call me back but she had given her the message , I asked Val if she had already given Charlotte the message why had she not called back straight away like promised. To have to sit in and wait around for a phone call which you need as you have to juggle plans around is quite annoying. Val was very rude and spoke over me at all points. We were then passed on to Charlotte after Val's verbal abuse, my partner explained to Charlotte what days we were able to do and hoped we could change it around. Unfortunately this was not possible so we asked why not and how many staff members were on that day so we could have a better understanding as to why our experience was cancelled. Charlotte told us that giving a number is against data protection and gdpr, how far from the truth she could be as it is not yet she was able to specify earlier how many were sick?! I think Charlotte needs some training! Charlotte then handed our phone call over without letting us know to another colleague who we were surprised to be having to speak with a 3rd person! Hannah was helpful but unfortunately the alternatives offered were not helpful to us. Instead we have opted for a full refund I would highly recommend ROWHILL GRANGE HOTEL AND SPA in dartford staff are exceptional and the experience was amazing , I can’t comment on the spa experience at Bannatyne as I was not able to get that far but from the experience I had over the phone which was awful enough on its self I will never be using Bannatyne in the future.

Negative experience: A very rude receptionist, and the spa had one hot tub out of order and one only partially working. I will certainly never go back again.

Fantastic experience: Lots of confusion with booking times but all in all a very good day, had Bethany for my massage she was very good, thank you A couple of downsides the noise from people dropping weights constantly makes the relaxation part of the experience non existent. There are only 5 loungers around the pool so not enough for everyone, we had 6 in our group so not enough seating to accommodate the amount of people who were present generally

Positive experience: A cheap little spa day, no frills, but we'll worth the price tag.

Negative experience: Place is not worth it. Very small and out of order facilities. Please eat before you go as they can't do more than 1 order or there flapping. Very disorganised and cold hot drinks. Manager thinks it'd ok to talk about you if you express your disappointment. Jess was amazing. Very good treatment. Paid 2 pound for a band that didn't even work to lock the locker.

Negative experience: Laid down to have our treatments and wondered why the relaxing music was so loud. Didn’t take long to realise all we could hear while trying to enjoy a massage was the constant shouting and music from the gym and doors slamming. The treatments were great but the spa was grim and room was cold. We decided not to stay as I had an awful headache from the noise. We hadn’t used our spa bags with towel robe and flip flops and when I asked for a refund at first I was denied then told I could choose a refund or escalate my complaint. really poor attitude and service from the manager. It’s a shame because the staff in the spa were fantastic. If you want a relaxing spa day choose somewhere else.

Negative experience: Didn’t start great when we were informed that they don’t cater for plus sizes in their robes. And unlike any spa I’ve been to in the past, you have to pay for use of robes and towels. Whole place looked tatty and worn apart from the very small spa area which consisted of a relaxing room with heated beds and the treatment rooms. The relaxing room is right next to the gym area so quite noisy and, as it’s used as the treatment waiting area, people ore being called out regularly so not very relaxing. You do get full use of the gym and pool area. Pool was lanes and quite cold. Only one warmer jacuzzi working. Only a few beds available by the pool. Changing facilities were good and constantly cleaned although lock up your stuff as someone had their shoes stolen. There was a cafe but area was by a full wall length window onto the car park so you did feel strange sitting in your robes. Treatment was good but when we tried to book an extra one for later in the day was told we couldn’t repeat same treatment? Older woman at reception not very customer friendly. Heard her on the phone with rude tone and then she commented to us that the person was a foreigner Overall it was ok for a cheap end spa day. You get what you pay for.

Negative experience: Pool is disgusting, they have put these new purple lights in which just highlights how dirty it. No joke the water looks greasy, you can just see the dirt sitting on the water and got hairs stuck in my feet. They don’t have right wide range of gym equipment which is disappointing seeing as its a pricey membership so you would expect a bit better.

Negative experience: The massage treatment was lovely, although the beds were very uncomfortable. The spa area needs some upgrade and due to the hot tubs being so small we never got a chance to enjoy one as it seems the space they have no longer fits the amount of clients that attend. Unfortunately I would not go back to this area for a spa day.

Positive experience: My partner & I had a spa day booked with 40 minutes of treatments (on a buy-a-gift voucher). We opted for the upgrade which cost an extra £15 each for an extra 15 minutes each. The massage was great but we really didn't get the extra 15 minutes. We weren't called by the therapists until 12.04, then we lost a few mins by going to the toilet before going into the room - we were in the room by 12.08 (obviously we expected that to come out of our time slot) but then the therapists didn't come into the room until 12.12 and finished the treatments by 12.55. Total treatment time 43 minutes. My advice - don't bother paying for the upgrade because you don't get 55 minutes of treatments. Good facilities otherwise

Negative experience: Specifically joined with the premise we could give 30 day’s notice at any time….Partner was allowed to leave outside the 3 month alleged introduction period…. I was not…. I complained and was informed the manager would contact me….as we approach a year I still haven’t heard back. The gym is small and badly designed, the pool is rarely available fully. I would recommend you steer clear of this dreadful place and join The Julie Rose for a good small gym that isn’t full of aggressive steroid monkeys….and use the leisure centre for a larger pool.

Fantastic experience: The spa treatments were out of this world. But the facilities weren't that great 2 sun loungers in the pool had to sit in a plastic chair until they become free. 1 of the hot tubs was out of use other then the treatments being fantastic the facilities let it down. Also the relax room you go in before treatments is lovely but you cannot relax as the gym is the other side of the wall constant banging dropping weights etc maybe move the room

Negative experience: I was disappointed with my facial spa,the staff who attended me was new and didn’t know she was doing plus she cut my appointment of 25 min to 10 min. I was called into the treatment room late for my treatment and to make it even worse she finished treatment 7 minutes early. I was so disappointed and I won’t book spa again in Bannatyne’s

Negative experience: Mostly dirty and dusty, most (not all) of the staff will ignore members. Adverts on the sound system is very loud, makes cardio a pain as even with NC headphones it is still blared at you through massive speakers. We pay for a membership and still get adverts blared at us :( Shame, as a few changes would make it a good club.

Fantastic experience: Great place to relax and unwind. Sauna and steam rooms were great, hot tubs aren't very warm though! The relaxation lounge beds in the waiting room were cold as well, so much nicer when they were warm! The massage itselfs was brill though, can't fault it! (Thank you Charlotte!) Lunch was delicious, 1000% recommend the bacon, chicken and avacardo club sandwich!

Negative experience: I'm so disappointed. Usely I'm not complaining but this really made me sad. Yesterday I had manicure and pedicure. Ladies was friendly and professional but look at my nails today. I didn't do anything special just start coming off. No happy sorry but I had share my experience for future improvement.

Positive experience: Treatments were nice and relaxing. Cafe had a very very long wait time. This was not down to the staff who were lovely but it was the lack of staff. Despite there not being many customers waiting for their food we waited an hour for our food after placing the order

Positive experience: Cafe chairs in desperate need of cleaning as the table we sat at had really bad stains all over the seats a bit faster service would have been good too no enthusiasm at all. . Shower in the pool area not working properly, husbands shower in the changing rooms not working, spin dryer not working in ladies changing room and the pool itself was freezing, enjoyed a lovely back massage and facial cannot fault that at all was the best part.

Negative experience: Not a great relaxing experience. Lunch service was dreadful and when it eventually arrived cold I had to shovel it down to get to my treatments on time. Relaxation room, well not sure I call thumping music coming up through from the gym and someone clearly dropping heavy weights on the floor relaxing. So far a bit of a let down

Positive experience: Whole place needs updating massively! Men’s changing room smells of fish for some reason? I was speaking with a fellow member and it’s been like that for a while. The pool is cold. I don’t think the whole place is being looked after properly which is a shame. The gym side of it is very good with a whole range of equipment. I’m glad I was just working away and this ain’t my local bannatyne’s as the £50 a month wouldn’t be justified!

Positive experience: my daughter had a spa day as a gift, we looked at the reviews prior to our visit as quite a few people were saying it was quite dirty, however on arrival we were pleasantly surprized, all communal areas were clean, the pool was well maintained. The rock stones beds were lovely and the room chilled with candles and relaxing music however the constant banging from the weights below didnt really make it a relaxing experience, when it was time for our treatments (body scrub + masssage) it felt quite rushed and not any real attentive, not relaxing as the therapists were quite noisy and we could hear them wispering Wasnt the worse experience but def not the best. Glad we didnt pay for it and was brought as a gift.

Positive experience: Really disappointed; Wish they had a rating for their masseuse at Bannatyne Ashford. I received neither a good foot massage (ironically called “best foot forward”!) not a glowing facial, which I clearly hoped for due to my previous experience in another spa using the Elemis products.

Positive experience: Been a member here for a long time. I really enjoy the facilities, BUT when are you going to replace the coffee machine?? So frustrating, it is out of action at least once a month for several days. Why not buy some cafetières for the numerous occasions it is broken.

Positive experience: Me and my wife had treatments booked . I was having , Back, foot and scalp massages . My therapist was good , and she did a brilliant job with my back , foot and scalp . But the therapist for my wife wasnt great , ( facial and foot ) . She had the same treatments in Bannatyne Southampton, and the experience was super , hence we booked again but in a spa nearer to home .

Positive experience: Received a back massage and facial from Mollie, she was brilliant! Extremely welcoming, friendly and informative alongside demonstrating excellent treatment skills. Mollie is a credit to the spa! My partner had a back and scalp massage from Chelsea, who was also brilliant! Great experience, thank you girls!

Negative experience: Not a good gym or spa. Poor value for money. Ridiculous price to bring a friend. Cancelled my membership and they still take payment. Shocking company. Avoid.

Fantastic experience: After enjoying the sauna, steam room, pool and jacuzzi went upstairs to the stone bed relaxation room, unfortunately situated next to the gym weights area so was hearing a constant banging, apart from that very relaxing! I then had a back massage off the beauty therapist Emma who did an amazing job at releasing all the tension and knots in my back whilst somehow making it relaxing still, could not recommend her enough for the service received by her 100% would have a massage by her again!

Positive experience: I have a gympass membership which covers most Local gyms. I prefer Bannatyne because I can use the gym go for a sauna and finish in the pool. All the full range of classes are included and there is a great selection of them at Bannatyne.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with the Ashford branch. Very outdated and in need of a freshen up. The pool was freezing, and the chlorine made your nose and eyes burn from just the smell. In my opinion, the Broadstairs one is ten times better.

Positive experience: I swim here most days, The pool temperature varies greatly often chilly, the boiler breaks usually twice a year, I've been a member for 20 years and there is a pattern. The water is then icy for a few weeks whilst they fix it. The spa therapists are great, good massages but be aware your appointment may be cancelled or changed if any therapist is ill even if its not the one you're booked with, as they prioritise spa day appointments, this happens regularly. Bannatynes policy.

Positive experience: This should be so much better. The pool is cold. The jacuzzi's are tiny. No-one wants to be sitting on top of each other in what is no bigger than a bath. Why wouldn't you keep the pool warm? There's no point saving money on heating if no-one wants to swim in it. Such a shame. However, the massage treatments were excellent and the gym looks great so it's not all bad.

Negative experience: My daughter and I visited for a spa day. What a terrible experience! Massages were poor, my daughter was left bruised. Spa facilities dirty and as for relaxing… not when the music is booming from aqua aerobics. The relaxation room is next to the weights room area of the gym, so you try and relax and then there’s a crash from the weights which literally shakes the wall. I raised the issues with the manager via email and phone and they couldn’t be bothered to respond. Virgin experiences then contacted them and the manager lied through his teeth and took no responsibility. Absolutely disgusting company and I would never in a million years recommend it. I only gave it 1 star because I had to. AVOID!!!

Positive experience: The treatments were absolutely lovely. However the swimming pool was very cold, not relaxing at all

Negative experience: Awful. I went here with my mum and it was a shocking experience. The pool was cold, the jacuzzi was disgusting. When we went upto have our treatments we were put into a “spa relax room” right next door to the gym, least relaxing place. Every few seconds all you hear is people smashing their weights off the floor next door. Once we went for our massages, the welcoming from the ladies weren’t amazing. My massage was AWFUL I’ve never had a back and shoulder massage that painful in my life. Towards the end of it I started to feel sick it was hurting so bad, the facial was ok. Not amazing, just felt like I was being slapped with loads and loads of products, my skin doesn’t feel any different whatsoever. Almost 12 hours later and I’m still in pain in my shoulders and neck, I feel like I’ve been at work 5 days straight. I need a massage to get over my massage. Ridiculous, do not recommend whatsoever.

Negative experience: This has got to be the worst experiences I have ever had when it comes to visiting a spa. Non professional No customer services Dirty everywhere Noise in treatment room and relaxing area from the gym with is above those rooms. No working Jacuzzi. Cold water Moldy walls Treatments made in rush and shorter time as must to be. etc... Not recommended !

Negative experience: The girls do a good job under horrendous circumstances (they’re not even provided with a stool to sit on and have to sit on the floor while doing a toenail paint/pedicure)... do not think that there is a spa day here, if you want some treatments at your local leisure centre go for it but if you’re looking for a relaxing treatment/beauty spa day, and know what they are like, do not go... you’ll be extremely disappointed... :-(

Positive experience: Received a wowcher gift for Christmas for a spa package for two. We had Back, hands and arms massage and a facial included. My partner opted out of the facial but was offered an alternative treatment which wasn’t expected so that was great. Sophie, the spa manager, was my therapist and she was amazing. She took the time to understand my needs and talked me through everything she was going to do. The massage and facial were brilliant and I felt very pampered. Sophie even had recommendations for aftercare and which products are best, didn’t purchase products but will be looking to in the future. Lots of comments about changing downstairs into robes. We didn’t hire robes but wouldn’t feel self-conscious having to walk around as if you’re there, you know what to expect and no one cares if you’re in gym wear/ robes etc. Definitely recommend the spa. Pool and changing rooms are good. Very spacious changing rooms. Cafe was a let down. Wasn’t sure how to order, waited at the counter for 6-8 minutes. Gentleman behind the counter was clearly busy but didn’t acknowledge us so we left without coffee and cake. Not the end of the world but would have been a nice finish to a once in a blue moon couple time.

Fantastic experience: I had a great spa morning here with my mum on a gift voucher. We had Molly and Niamh as our massage therapists and we were both very impressed with their technique. We will be booking in again soon. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Had three treatments today in the Ashford Spa. Lovely friendly staff. Miranda, my therapist, was fabulous My only dislike was having to change into our robes downstairs and wonder through the cafe area to go back upstairs to the treatment area. A designated space upstairs just for spa clients would've been perfect! It doesn't put me off going back. It was soooo relaxing!!!

Positive experience: I find it unfair having to pay for flipflops, a towel and a dressing gown considering most places offer this as complimentary. The place is also a gym and health suite so it's not exactly a full spa... So it can be awkward walking around with a robe on. The massages and treatments were fantastic however the loud banging coming from weight lifters was very off putting. There was no water apart from a fountain that you drink from which isn't to everyone's choice of using.

Positive experience: Visited here last week as a birthday treat to a spa day. Was welcomed by a lovely lady and led to the spa. I loved the sauna steam room and jacuzzi it really added to the day. The massage therapist was lovely but chatted the whole treatment. The lady in the cafe was also very attentive and helpful with our order :) overall I loved the experience.

Positive experience: Lovely massages. Café very helpful in arranging vegan food for us. Reception and spa staff super helpful and found a piece of jewellery we lost during out visit and called us back later to arrange returning it. Only complaint is that I felt a bit unwelcome on arrival as the maximum gown size was rather small. I'm 110kg, assigned male at birth, and the XL gown hardly covered any of my tummy, chest or upper legs.

Fantastic experience: Came here on a wowcher voucher. Super lovely first ever massage experience and access to all facilities. Shame robe and towels is only provided at an extra cost but by no means made the experience any less enjoyable. Changing room and shower facilities incredible and very clean.

Positive experience: The actual spa bit is lovely, I had an amazing massage experience and so did my daughter. However since its a health club and not exclusively a spa, I think it kind of ruins the relaxing experience. You have to walk quite far from the changing area to where you have the treatments, so you are in your robe /towel and you have to walk past everyone who's dressed and coming in for the gym or eating in the restaurant. You also have to share the pool with loads of members including children. One of the hot tub/jacuzzi was broken. While in the relax room waiting for massage all you could hear and feel every couple of minutes was banging coming from the gym next door. The food from the restaurant was actually really really good value for money and food was exceptionally lovely. All in all though the experience was only OK for my daughters first time at a spa (18th birthday present) but we wouldn't unfortunately return.

Fantastic experience: Reasonably priced spa experience - used the pool and steam/sauna rooms as well as having a couple of treatments - can recommend the body scrub - felt great afterwards.

Positive experience: I object to paying for the use of a towel, dressing gown and flipflops. No other spa place charges. Then to have to leave a £20 deposit for the locker band. No free hot drinks. Which I have always had at other places. No cold water in the chill room despite asking three times. The reason it's not a one star. The treatment was good.

Positive experience: Good gym and pool although one of the stream rooms and jacuzzis have not been working for the last month. Given the number of members trying to use the pool area this makes this part of the club less functional.

Fantastic experience: What an absolutely fabulous afternoon Myself and my friend Vicky had an absolutely wonderful time the staff were really professional and the service was fantastic facilities are really good as well what a lovely way to spend an afternoon definitely will be back and definitely will recommend to friends

Negative experience: Treatments themselves were good, although I wasn't asked how firm I like my massage and came home with bruises all over my legs. My therapist was continually yawning during my treatment. The "relaxation room" wasn't relaxing at all due to the thuds from the weights room next door. Had a nice swim however the jacuzzi was broken so it was basically a bath... Also a steam room out of action and a broken shower. I am 90% sure I saw a cleaner dip her mop in the jacuzzi. Best bit was the cafe. Lovely food and friendly staff. Wouldn't visit again (and I'm not a complainer).

Positive experience: It was ok. Some of the facilities were out of order and the staff were running late for treatments. The café is a bit expensive but nice enough. However, I think the chlorine levels in the pool were too high as it had bleached and ruined my and my sister’s swimwear, and other customers complained about their jewellery getting ruined. You also now have to pay £6 to hire flip flops, a robe and a towel. I probably wouldn’t go again.

Fantastic experience: My experience was amazing. I think mainly because of my masseuse I believe her name was Madeline. Omg she was amazing. She kept checking if was comfortable if I was okay, if the temperature was good and what she recommends. Her hands and her techniques were sooooo good. The pool and all the facilities were very busy I think it’s quite a popular place so didn’t get a chance to use it but the changing rooms were spacious clean and fine. Honestly would recommend for price and would definitely come again!

Negative experience: Poorly maintained facilities; one jacuzzi broken, one pools shower broken, one steam room out of order, many of the showers missing soap and/or not working. Went on a day pass to check out the facilities, totally disappointed.. £25 badly spent and I won't be getting a membership.
