Negative experience: This on the outside of the gym this morning. No warning and took money out of account not 3 days ago. What a joke.

Negative experience: Been coming here a year and a half and it's really gone downhill in the last 3-4 months. Equipment just doesn't get fixed. Things break down I know, but other gyms manage to fix them within days. Here, if something breaks, it's likely to be out of action for weeks, if not longer. There are three rowing machines; one the flywheel has been broken for 3 months. The other two, the console/display has been broken for at least 4 months. I have reported both and nothing had been done. The TVs are rarely switched on, or if they are they have an error message on, or go to sleep and nobody bothers putting them back on. Now, even the automatic doors to the gym are broken. They have been struggling to open fully for months, but of course nobody maintains anything so they have now broken fully so you have to manually slide them open and closed. There is a pathetically tiny scruffy handwritten paper sign on the door telling you to do so. This has been the case for at least 4 weeks now. Any other store would have this fixed within hours. Not Coach Gym. To make things worse there are always 4 or 5 gym staff just sat around on their phones or scranning a Dominos. I realise they're not mechanics and can't fix the equipment, but it's clear where my gym membership money is going.

Fantastic experience: Small but great gym. Nice and friendly (staff and patrons) Plenty of classes. May be if you are a heavy weight lifter this is not the place for you but for your student or gym bunny this is spot on!

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of this gym for over a year, and things have taken a serious downturn under the new management. The biggest issue? There’s no space to work out! Despite having two large rooms for classes, the new manager has decided to conduct classes in the common area where everyone else is supposed to train. I pay the same membership fee as the people attending these classes—so why should I be the one waiting around to use equipment? My time is valuable, and I shouldn’t have to adjust my schedule because of poor management decisions. To make matters worse, when I spoke to the staff at the reception, they were kind and even agreed that this situation was unfair. But when I raised the issue with the manager and mentioned I wanted to cancel my membership, his response was “That’s okay, do you know how to cancel?” No care or concern for a paying customer who’s been loyal for over a year. I work full-time and come in the evenings to train. It’s frustrating to see that the gym doesn’t value its customers. This place has become so poorly run, it’s no wonder my personal trainer left—looking back, I should have left then too. If you’re considering joining this gym, I’d recommend going elsewhere. They clearly don’t know how to treat their customers.

Negative experience: I joined this gym last year and as a new beginner the experience I had with the previous staff was amazing. I still have 2 credits left for a PT but I found they not interested in allowing me to have this. Because they want private clients after visiting the gym after several month I found the place uncomfortable and not friendly at all. Found the PT very Aragon.booked a session cancelled without explanation.. never went back as the new staff made me feel very uncomfortable. Can not wait to cancel my contract

Negative experience: When this gym opened back in 2020 it was an amazing gym with what felt like a family community NOW.... this gym has lack of staff due to them being mistreated, hardly any classes and doesn't open at 6am like stated. Sat here at 6.50am and it's still not open!! Very poor service!! What am I paying for? Think it's time to move to a more reliable gym.

Fantastic experience: Tried to cancel my gym membership for a few months now and it hadn’t been resolved, just sent around in circles. However, I called up this morning and was put straight through to AHLAM, one of the customer service advisors at Coach Gym. She provided me with the upmost respect, listened to my problems and resolved the issue immediately within less than 10 minutes!! Ahlam was extremely friendly, supportive and reassured me I would not have any further problems and that if I was to, I should call back up anytime, ask for her and she would be available to assist immediately. Great work ethic and amazing support from Ahlam!!

Negative experience: One and half year ago when i started coach gym they took twice fees every month. Bt they gave me back my money that time. I moves from krikstall area i requested to close my account. Leeds coach staff said once 12 month contract ends it will ended. Bt from last 5 months they counting taking money from my account i didnt get perfect responce from leeds branch dont know how can i get my money back

Negative experience: Tried to cancel my gym membership - I assumed successfully and got a random automated message saying i owed money including my gym details with what seemed like a random amount of money? So either someone who shouldn't have been able to get my details has got them from coach or coach is asking me for a random amount of money through a third party? either way it seems strange

Fantastic experience: Came for a free trial today and i was greeted by Alimah, she was lovely very polite and helpful on where everything was placed. She also made us a protein shake which tastes amazing. The gym has a load of new equipment and is set out nicely. Im definitely getting a membership here. Great staff and great gym.

Negative experience: I joined this gym nearly 2 years ago and every time I have been there has literally never been a machine free other than really late at night or just after opening. They also said I can cancel at anytime after 1 year of membership. This is an absolute lie, I literally cannot cancel the membership as I didn’t know my password for my account and every time I go in they say do it on the app. I managed to get into my account and I have canceled my membership but they still keep charging me. This place is a scam DO NOT SIGN UP.

Negative experience: Avoid. Gym is tiny. I tried to cancel and has ended up costing a fortune. Jd gym is much better and better equipped and you can cancel at anytime. The customer service when trying to cancel was a joke. Not answering emails and left me hanging for a week. That's why they only have 3. Cos it's rubbish.

Negative experience: Seeing loads of other reviews about debt collectors and I’m glad I’m not alone in this. Cancelled my membership after seeing through the 12 months, which didn’t work apparently and I’ve got debt collectors now after me for over £80. I was never given T&C’s before signing up (through the offers sent through WhatsApp) and wasn’t even made aware that it would be a 12 month contract. They keep adding on costs, via the debt collectors and all I tried to do was cancel my contract fair and square after it expired

Negative experience: I had a horrible experience in this gym, I left the gym made a complaint. I'm still getting text messages from them and this is over 3 years ago, I requested to be taken off any mailing / text forms and I wasn't recieving anything for a while but now seems iv been put back on. It's a horrible gym with horrible judgment staff unfortunately looking for a particular look for there gym

Negative experience: I had an exam here as part of a gym course. The gym is Dark , crowded, equipment piled on top of each other and no means of cleaning the equipment. Other than the lad who works there who was very friendly and accommodating and the facilities, I would give this gym 1 star. (I am not a member).

Negative experience: Give them ur number whilst enquiring and you'll never be in peace again - requested to stop and blocked numerous times but consistently break GDPR rules to continue to harass - bit beggy tbh and will just give you a reason not to join - quite clear they just get friends/family to leave fake reviews too edit: still getting harassed daily by this company, calls, texts despite blocking the number and repeatedly asking to stop. clearly very desperate as they seem to rely on debt collectors upon looking at other reviews! Poor marketing as just makes people resent the company!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at coach for over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The staff are all lovely and constantly present to help with any enquiry’s. The atmosphere created within coach is very welcoming for all gym goers and I can highly recommend to anyone looking to join a gym and move gyms.

Negative experience: Do not have anything to do with this gym, do not give them any details on yourself. I left this gym a few months after joining as it wasn’t a good gym. But then for months they kept texting me and whatsapp’ing me, always from different number, sometimes it was daily. By email, telephone on at least 6 different occasions, I asked them to remove me from all mailing and call lists. I was told everytime this was done. It was never done. They have now started it up again, 3 text messages today alone. Called them up and gave the guy that answered my name, and he found me on the system straight away and said I would be removed. That’s now 7 times I have been told I have been removed. They are not obeying data protection laws

Negative experience: Went to this gym for a couple months and omg the amount of marketing i got through texts from different numbers was unbelievable. I have asked them in store, online and message to remove my details and to stop sending me marketing. Still 2 years later they do this. I have blocked and removed their details and they try find ways to just spam you!

Negative experience: Gym experience itself was always very good, however I cancelled my membership in August and alongside this, cancelled my direct debit. I was then sent an email stating that if I didn’t reinstate my direct debit for 1 final payment, debt collectors would be sent and I may be charged more… all for £25?? To further my disappointment, I have now been charged for another month! Completely unacceptable and if you can send debt collectors, I will definitely be seeking a refund for that extra month.

Negative experience: DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! By far the WORST GYM ever opened in the UK. David and Stuart who are in charge are 2 of the most belittling awful people I’ve ever met. The staff and PTs in the club are great up to GM level, George and his staff are brilliant, it’s just a shame that anyone higher doesn’t give a damn about anything except their bottom line. Never experienced such an awful working environment. Overtime expected without pay, Constant micromanaging and making staff feel inadequate and devalued, always finding a way to place the blame on those lower down for failure, being watched through CCTV by those higher up when they’re off site, then being called and berated down the phone when business is slow or something hasn’t gone their way. No facilities provided for staff, no staff room, no where to store belongings and being told we can’t use the fridge to store food or the microwave to heat it and that it’s just for the products sold at the gym. (Legally these have to be provided but that’s not something they really care about ) I’ve left belongings behind the bar accidentally, come back after a day off and they’ve been thrown in the bin without any consideration or attempt to contact asking if I would come collect them/ wanted them. The Staff are forced to constantly harass people who’ve registered interest, constantly spamming WhatsApp even to those who have asked to stop being contacted, breaking GDPR rules. Don’t register your interest, as you’ll be constantly spammed with WhatsApp’s, text and calls. Membership is a farce, an app that has so many bugs it may as well be an ant farm. Cancellations don’t work via the app 8/10 times and if you call up they’ll refer you to the app or direct debit company and tell you they can’t sort it and it’ll end up going back and forth. Don’t enter a contract with this gym. More than likely you’ll have debt collectors calling you up if you try and cancel, they’ll then try sign you back up to clear your debt. I’ve never worked somewhere that membership has been so poorly handled. The facilities themselves? They’re ok, could be much much better. The actual gym has been crammed into a small space, machines placed way too close together without any thought to peoples personal space. Way too much emphasis has been put into class space, and that’s what about 60% of the gym is, class space. So much potential for it to be better if they layout was re thought. If you want to really train properly I wouldn’t recommend it, if you want a decent class go for it, but you’ll have to pay. There’s so much more I could say but I’ll just say this, took me 10 weeks to lose all loyalty and 13 to leave all together, not a chance it’s worth it for minimum wage. I wouldn’t recommend training here and definitely don’t recommend working here at all.

Negative experience: Awful! Two members of staff (in uniform) decided they wanted to play football outside of the garage (next door) when the elderly owner asked them to move along, they started to swear at him and were very rude! Disgusting representation for Coach Gym. I won a membership there a few weeks ago and after todays event, I would rather stick hot pins in my eyes then have to deal with pathetic staff who cannot control their temper.

Fantastic experience: I signed up today and a really nice member of staff named Ella showed me around. Told her how I was somewhat intimidated by the gym and that I was interested in weights but wanted needed some help. She was so reassuring and made me feel so excited about my potential at this gym. The gym is great, nice lighting, plenty of equipment and has an inviting feel to it.the staff are super friendly and encouraging. Would really recommend

Negative experience: These people tell you it’s £5 for the first month, tell you you have 30days to opt out before the first payment is taken out of your account. Should have known the £5 was too good to be true. Do not fall for this!! It’s a scam. They will keep taking money from your account. So difficult to cancel membership and it’s weird how they do not even appear under the debit payment section of your bank card

Negative experience: Signed up to a membership was told I could cancel within 30 days. I cancelled on say 28 as the classes kept changing times and cancelling. After cancelling I revived endless calls and messages. Which I replied to all’s devising I’ve cancelled and to stop contacting me. Now I’ve Recieved a £420 debt form an agency they sold onto when I cancelled. Apparently they want the full 12 months payment. This isn’t just me this has happened to it happened to many others. Avoid this problem with coach gyms kirkstall. Be aware guys. My credit file is ruined now

Fantastic experience: A Great gym at a great price in a brilliant location (for anyone Burley/Kirkstall based). A little compact but basically has everything I need. I go in in the middle of the day admittedly, but have never had to wait for any weights/machines etc. Really nice, friendly and helpful staff.

Negative experience: Sectioning off the whole studio section for classes attended by 4 people when there is limited floor space is ridiculous. Leave the studio open for all, especially when classes are so poorly attended anyway

Negative experience: The facilities of this gym is good. But whenever you try to CANCEL ❌ everything goes wrong and is DELIBERATELY EXTREMELY CONFUSING. TERRIBLE communication between the gym and Harlands when you try to cancel. I do not recommend to anyone to go through this process. They trap you and make all sorts of excuses to not cancel and then FINE you so it gets more and more expensive and complicated to end the contract. They just took 61,99 £ out of my bank account and I went there to speak with the manager, that had to DRAW to try to explain something that is no explanation. And Harlands on the phone just said “If they send us an e-mail we will give back the money” - of course, they won't do it. Argh, sooooooo wrong!

Negative experience: They won’t let me leave I had a 14 day grace period and requested to cancel during the 14 days. They won’t let me cancel and the lady I spoke to on the phone was really rude and unhelpful, didn’t take any of my details told me a manager would call me back and I have not heard anything. They have taken the payment this month and in the cost of living crisis it’s just completely unacceptable. I would not recommend anyone joining this gym they’re extremely pushy getting you to sign up and then mislead you into thinking you have a grace period. I also never signed a contract and the entire transaction was done via what’s app call. Having read other reviews about how people are being scammed, with money being taken from their accounts without permission as well as debt collectors chasing over a gym membership il be contacting the financial ombudsman for further advice.

Negative experience: The gym is great facilities is nice but there memberships are horrible I signed in for a trial paying one month and getting a month free realised I only went like 4 times and cancelled it 10 days after which charged me 18.99 I was like fine then there company which they work with Harlands keeps sending me emails about payments as I cancelled my direct debit after paying the 18.99 , I got a call for the staff and even they didn't know if I paid the membership ( sent a screen shot of the payment)now they charging me 45 quid and membership i have no clue of the status, no good communication and information between them and being a student already broke lol this is just horrible

Negative experience: This is hands down the worst company I have ever come across in my life. Once you’re in, they don’t let you leave. They will pester you every month for money adding in additional fees when all you’ve asked to do is leave. It’s impossible to get out of your contract and no one within coach gyms or Harlands company will assist you out. This company has caused me nothing but stress for over 3 years. I wish no one to go through the utter frustration this company has caused me. Please I advise anyone to join any other gym than here.

Fantastic experience: I've been really enjoying Coach gym since joining in early December. It's important to me that a gym is a) friendly and b) not intimidating and you can usually pick that up from the first few visits - I've found both the staff and other gym users here to be great. The gym is compact but I don't find myself having to wait very long to use equipment, even in January. The classes I've been to so far (Evolution and Bounce) have both been enjoyable. I like the option of being able to buy a post-workout protein shake/smoothie too. All round, great gym so far and for a reasonable monthly membership price too!

Positive experience: I was issued a free pass to trial a training session at COACH Leeds earlier this week. Everything is spread in different sections of the gym floor which prevents crowding. I tried the majority of the equipment which was all in good condition. I was also shown around additional rooms upstairs - one which was empty and suited for yoga etc., one with exercise bikes - both were mentioned to be for hosting classes. The entire gym is well laid out and aesthetically pleasing with giant mirrors and vibrant lighting. Overall, my experience here was quite pleasant. The offer in place for students is also very affordable (at approximately £18 monthly I believe). I am still looking at other gyms in the city yet COACH remains a viable option.

Negative experience: It’s been great until this morning. The gym wasn’t open at 6:50. We’ve been going to this gym regularly, and it’s been great so far. With the cost of living going up like crazy, we spent hundreds of pounds in petrol to get to this destination and there was no one at the gate of this exercise castle. Is it acceptable? Of course not. Can they get away with it? Probably yes.

Negative experience: I hate to give bad reviews but these guys are going out of their way to be difficult, I came in as a drop in and was told I could have a week for a five then when I come in next pay £22.99 for the month. I live in Portugal and drop to the UK now and again so this was ideal. Unfortunately I won’t be there in October so told them so and cancelled for October but as I only told them 20 days before October I am being charged for October and late payment fees and being chased by some debt collectors and they want bank statements from Portugal, really what a waste of everyone’s time. The gym looked great but their attitude to customers is really poor and I clearly was hoodwinked into a monthly scheme to hit the targets. So simple to resolve. Avoid these guys.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym. The dark/neon lights are something different and can make those less confident feel more at ease. Always good tunes to keep you motivated. Fantastic range of classes and new ones arriving. Coach Box and Evolution are definitely my favourites. You don’t have to have any experience and can be a total gym novice there are no judgments here from anyone. We are a big supportive family (staff and gym goers!). The staff are friendly, approachable and always helpful

Fantastic experience: Really great gym. I've been going here two years now. The staff are friendly, the gym has a good layout and atmosphere is nice. I really like the neon/dark vibe as in other gyms I get a bit self conscious but not here. Great selection of gym classes too and music to keep me motivated! Wouldn't go anywhere else :)

Fantastic experience: Originally I saw coach gyms as a business and felt it was wealth over health.. recently I had an issue with my health and needed to take a break.. they were very accommodating and sorted it very promptly.. there was a slight discrepancy in dates and payments after 1 email I was offered a call back and revived it.. on the call all was sorted and out right straight away.. 5 stars because going the extra mile to ensure your clients are happy is everything

Negative experience: Scam. They tell you can cancel early if you move away from the area, this is entirely untrue. Their billing provider won’t accept documents which prove you have moved and I’m confident they are not even checking. Not to mention that they breach GDPR and privacy regs by bombarding you with texts, emails, WhatsApp’s and notifications from their app even if you tell them not to (repeatedly) all to push some membership drive type activity. Honestly just go to one of the other gyms on kirkstall road, give this one a miss

Fantastic experience: Although I spent a little time here, it is a great gym with everything one would need for their health and fitness whether that's free weights or a separate area for boxing or a room for yoga classes.

Negative experience: Sold the world and given a penny, everything started off so well and just went down hill drastically. Gas lit and bullied by managers, GDPR breaches, made to constantly feel worthless and all for less than minimum wage? You think that’s bad? You’ll sign up, told you can leave at anytime and then you’ll be threatened with debt collection agencies

Negative experience: Absolutely ridiculous how they constantly spam you on Whatsapp after you sign up even after you ask them not to. When you try leave and cancel the subscription for a legit reason it’s a whole thing and you have to send proof. Apparently you have to either be dying , pregnant or injured to get off the contract that easily otherwise you will keep getting charged

Negative experience: AVOID! Clearly all fake reviews, Not a great gym it’s so small and no equipment, was on a 30 day rolling contract and I cancelled now I’m still getting harassed a year on from debt collection agency’s Edit: nearly 3 years since leaving this gym and I’m still being harassed to no end, I’ve now been sent an email saying I have to sign up to a 12 month membership to their gym or they are sending doorstep debt collectors. Why would I need a 12 month membership when I moved 2 hours away from your gym. Speaking to my Solictor about the data breach and the amount of WhatsApp messages I’m receiving after cancelling my membership

Negative experience: Miserable staff, the yoga mats stink, nobody cares about infection control, freezing cold studio and changing area and the shower was tepid. I’ve tried a few times but today I finally decided I’m never going again - worst gym I’ve ever joined...And I’m bombarded with messages from their group chat - mainly complaining that they don’t open when they are supposed to.

Fantastic experience: Hand down one of the best gyms I've been to. I recently had to change to pure gym because it's closer but coach is so much better. The machines are a way better, more comfortable brand (nautilus) and they do what the muscle wants to do. The staff and atmosphere is also amazing. If you can't decide between coach and any other gym I would recommend coach...

Negative experience: Looks great when you first walk in but after nearly two years of membership, I’m starting to get seriously annoyed now. I’ve realised there hasn’t been much thought put into how the equipment is placed. The gym is really badly laid out. It’s very annoying as you can’t use a lot of the equipment when the boutique & box classes are on, as all the rowers, kettlebells, slam balls, assault bikes, boxes, battle ropes and ski ergs are in these rooms Seriously thinking about changing gyms.

Negative experience: I left around July and I’m still getting harassed by debt collection agencies in January of the next year. When I signed up as a student I was led to believe I could cancel anytime as I was told I could cancel anytime. Also the most I would’ve owed in fees at this point is under £140 but somehow my ‘overdue balance’ is over £290 which is ridiculous. I wish it had been communicated when I joined that I would be shaken down like this by randomly third party debt collectors if I cancelled payment. I’m giving two stars because I did like the rooms upstairs of the gym that had a spin room. EDIT: still getting harassed in June almost a year later
