North Solihull Sports Centre

Negative experience: Awful sports hall, very slippery surface, lighting very poor, dangerous. The floor is new, but no better than before. The lights have been terrible for at least two years and nothing has been done, many don't work and plenty more give a very poor illumination. They all need replacing. My advice - find somewhere else to play. Only gets one star because I can't choose none.

Negative experience: Poor lighting very difficult to play badminton.

Positive experience: Good for all keep fit options, however i only use swimming pool

Fantastic experience: Was here for a karate competition, so we only used the changing rooms and sports hall, so this review is only based on that. Changing rooms were clean and spacious, loads of lockers, and some private cubicles. Sports hall was warm, clean, and a good size. There are bleacher style seats, so viewing area for spectators was really good. The staff as we arrived were very friendly and kind. The cafe served hot drinks, so a bonus

Fantastic experience: Very well equipped gym with an excellent variety of equipment to suit all needs. Friendly and helpful staff always keen to offer advice and support. A large variety of fitness classes, swimming pool and cafe, everything you could want, highly recommended!

Negative experience: Booked online for Two adult and Three kids Tuesday 13 July 2024 at 15:15 pm .Booking process was simple and easy. My Experience from Entrance to Exit the premises was absolutely horrible NOT recommended to any of my family, friends or Relatives. Racist Staff with Zero respect. My son have his own floating tubes and toys with him.He took on of yellow floating board and lady gave such a dirty look and took it back from him. Have been to Virgin Active many times they don't have any objection if someone use those swimming bords. Lifeguards at swimming pool are absolutely Resist specially Two old ladies. I guess both doesn't even qualify for any Cleaner Job No wonder they are recruited as a life guard.Disgraceful and Disrespectful Staff.

Fantastic experience: Wow! Where do we start on this day! One of my fave days out ever⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ my girlfriend and I along with the kids went here with some of the bolton all starz for the iconic street dance competition, the centre was huge! With all facilities your usual sports centres has to offer but more, I found this hall one of the biggest ive ever seen, the stands for the crowds were perfect with no worries or not being able to see the dancers, they had karate on, swimming an lots of other groups this day but it was very organised from the staff and everything from the first aid team to the catering staff was well and in place, plenty options in the cafe if you managed to sneak passed the mcdonalds that's nearby the building and there is vending machines available with even more choices, we had a very good time through the whole day we was their from around 7 30am till 5pm, the motorway isn't far from the venue so it didn't take us long to be bk on the road for bolton either, I would highly recommend using this venue or visiting to use their facilities, it isn't on my doorstep but I won't forget this place and look forward to returning soon, maybe at the next street comp lol love the parent dances hope this review helps, I always try to include all I can, Have the greatest day, The smooth guide

Positive experience: I’m a very fussy person so when I read the reviews about dirtyness and unbothered staff I was a tad off put… However I went there two days in a row and didn’t see what the problem was. The pool was very clean (some have said you can’t see the bottom which is beyond exaggeration as is), the pool is also very warm, it’s just cold as you go through the shower hall after. Staff looked after my kids bike and also asked me three times if I was sure I wanted to spend so much on the swimming gear I picked up cause it was a bit much but costs the same from Amazon so wasn’t bothered lol I do have two suggestions though: the big slide needs fixing, it’s your only entertainment for kids really. Also reckon unhandled doors that open both ways between showers and pools with a bit of heating in the changing room would stop the little ones getting a chill (my baby was screaming her head off - she doesn’t like being cold). To counter this expense, I’d up the fare 50p and also charge £1 per under 4. Keeping your customers warm would be more than enough reason to hike prices. UPDATE: Can now tell why people are moaning about the staff, three chilling in office yacking while I was waiting to simply check in while customer in front was due for a 20 minute talk on booking a swimming lesson package & apparently I had to wait for all that to pay £1 for a pair of goggles.

Negative experience: A sports centre that can't be bothered to answer the phone, no information on their website regarding hiring of equipment and you can't speak to anyone. Avoid.

Negative experience: NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR COACHES. DROPPING OF CHILDREN FOR SWIMMING. COACH BAYS ARE ALWAYS FULL OF CARS.

Positive experience: No adult swim, gym to small for me, not enough weights if more than 3 people using them, staff friendly and helpful though

Positive experience: Friendly atmosphere helpful staff that may have everything you may need or they can put you in touch with someone who can.

Negative experience: Okay. Staff are friendly enough but often lack drive/motivation (possibly due to conditions or salary). Gym equipment is adequate if a little outdated.. Communication isn't great and security is awful, never leave anything of any real value in the lockers provided or in the car park/bike racks. Had an £1200 Ebike stolen from right out side and the staff blatantly could not care less, my inner cynic is convinced certain staff members know the people involved... Health Suite is something I use almost every day and is in a pitiable condition. The steam room and sauna have never been cleaned properly (especially the sauna, it has dead skin caked between the wooden slats that has been there for at least 5 years) They also think the steam room cleans itself as you can see a hair or small piece of rubbish/chewing gum on the floor on a Monday and it will still be there the following Wednesday.. Also, don't expect improved services or equipment despite regular increases to the cost of membership.. I repeat that the staff are clearly let down by the company that employs them and their attitude can reflect that on occasion despite being generally friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: No one will answer the phone you have to go in person just to enquire

Negative experience: The service attitude of the night shift staff at this leisure center requires improvement. It often feels like they intentionally ignore the presence of visitors.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined North Solihull Sports Centre, and took my son for a gym induction, I felt compelled to write a review as the staff member Jack who was doing the gym induction for my son who is 11, was absolutely first class, he was informative helpful and friendly he made my son feel totally at ease as it was his first time at the gym, he explained how to use the gym equipment to my son, and some motivational tips regarding training, I feel that Jack is a credit to North Solihull Sports Centre.

Negative experience: I don't recommend this gym. Lockers have been broken into and items stolen including cars. You'd think this maybe happened once or twice but no for a good 6 months straight now it almost happens on a daily basis. As I've prepaid for a full year, I still go there but not for long. Currently always come in wearing something to put my car key in and leave the rest in my car. I don't use showers pools or sauna anymore as I'm scared to lose my stuff. Many times incidents have been reported to staff and police but nothing changed. That whole area is bad. I recommend going somewhere else

Negative experience: Worst gym I have ever been to. £42 first month. Tiny and everything is occupied, need to not let more people in than equipment available. They don't even have a cable row, ridiculous place

Positive experience: Lovely staff who have a smile for everyone. Great range of facilities with a large cafe, shame it doesn't do hot food a little later in the evening.

Negative experience: NO STARS! I just want to let everyone know that there is currently an issue at north solihull sport centre with theives. My locker was broken into while I was swimming, my keys and phone was taken. It happened to two other people at the time and one car was taken. From talking to staff afterwards, it seems that there is an issue that they are aware of. Its happened 3 Mondays In a row. I would advise you to not attend this centre. Staff have advised there is also no security in place at the entrance. Staff are not helpfull

Negative experience: I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the pool arrangement. It was highly disappointing to see that half of the main pool was allocated for a swimming lesson with only a few children, while more than 20 people who pre-booked and paid for the main pool were forced to share the remaining space. This significantly impacted the quality of our swimming experience and left us feeling frustrated and shortchanged. The management's decision to prioritize a small swimming class at the expense of paying customers who booked the main pool in advance was highly unreasonable. The limited space available to us made it almost impossible to swim comfortably or enjoy our time in the pool. As a result, many of us left feeling like we did not get the experience we paid for. In the future, I strongly urge the management of North Solihull Sports Centre to reevaluate their pool allocation policies. Either limit the number of bookings for the main pool, or reduce the size allocated for swimming lessons to ensure that all customers have a fair and enjoyable experience. It is crucial to strike a balance between accommodating swimming lessons and catering to the needs of customers who pre-book the main pool. If changes are not made, I am afraid that I, along with many other disappointed customers, will have no choice but to find an alternative swimming facility that better understands the importance of customer satisfaction and proper resource management.

Positive experience: I booked to swim during a disability hour. However, it appeared that they had opened the pool for other swimmers. As a person with multiple disabilities and being a nervous swimmer, the lack of checking was disappointing. I found the children screaming and bombing in the water and the fast lane swimmers in the pool would put me off booking the disability hour in the future. As there are only 2 hours a week allocated for disabled swimmers, I would expect the other swimmers to be checked at reception or challenged by the pool staff so the disability swimmers can swim with confidence.

Negative experience: Everyone active are running the pool facilities into the ground. Pool was filthy I could barely see the bottom of the deep end it was that murky. Mud through showers where people are wearing their trainers to pool side. The locker rooms are routinely filthy, gone are the days when they used to do routine spray downs of the locker rooms. Negative experience: Paid for an inflatable pool party and food. Confirmed it day before. Got there for grandsons birthday party to be told no inflatables cos not enough staff and no food ordered. They sorted some food eventually 4 chicken nuggets and 12 chips each. Not what we originally ordered. Absolutely disgusting. 1 birthday with 10 kids ruined and no apology

Positive experience: Visited the centre to watch England Boxing National Youth Championships. The centre is well signposted, has a big free car park. Although the building externally is a bit tired, it has all you need for a local leisure centre. Pool, changing rooms and large double court with seating. Staff are polite and helpful. Little but functional cafe that were very helpful.

Negative experience: Needs renovation. The shower doors in the Changing Village hardly close properly. There's about 3cm on the latch and there's mould in the shower seals. Shower head does not spray water evenly. No plug sockets and use of hair dryer requires coins.

Negative experience: Would give ZERO stars if possible. Firstly I can never get through on the phone to make a booking. I dont always have internet access but when I have tried to book online you HAVE TO join as a member (which means you constantly get bombarded with spam even if you opt out) and the site is so hard to navigate. Aside from this the changing rooms are ALWAYS filthy and smell like urine and sewage. I find the staff members unfriendly and unhelpful. Also the availability for casual swim sessions is near to none which reinforces my views that this company is all about money as there are always lessons on. I made a complaint via their contact us page to which the response they gave me was pitiful

Negative experience: Dated changing facilities and showers. Not sure why you're expected to pay to use the hairdryer since other Everyone Active sites don't require it. Even super budget PureGym/Gym Group provide plug sockets and hair dryers at the dressing table.

Negative experience: They never answer the phone! Was told by one staff member they do private lessons, told they don't by another.. no one seem to actually know what is on offer here! Its soo cold most of the time in the pool that my 2 year old daughter turns blue by the end of her lessons.. sadly its the only local swimming centre

Negative experience: Swimming was good, However the food was atrocious! Will not be eating there again, and the women at the cafe were shouting at each other while customers were at the counter and sitting within the cafe.

Positive experience: It is OK overall. You get to use pool and gym in one monthly payment which is good. Could be a bit cleaner especially in the pool area and the pool lockers. Staff is relaxed. Opening hours have changed to save energy.

Negative experience: The complex over the years has stayed the same, regardless of any funding.( That's my opinion) especially the swimming areas. I find the main changing rooms are Not the cleanest. No matter what time of day the changing area, has an unpleasant smell. Haven't used the gym for a few years , so not able to comment other than this also is used by many . The sports halls again haven't used them for a while ,again used by several groups especially the the over 50's club with table tennis. Also children's parties ( again haven't used in some time , would have to ask at reception if this is still available). The Café area is too small for the volume of people using it , particularly on the swimming booked sessions during the week days, for school age children. Price's at the till for food/ drink is expensive. A discount is given if you have your membership card for the swimming lessons. ( But not much think 10%) Parking on most days is horrendous, no management. Main exit / entrance has cars double parked and blocking . Various pot holes , litter & overgrown bushes surround the gronds. The athletic track , is in a very sad state, this could be an exceptional asset if the funds we're available. This area is Well used by a lot of the public, Race / Fitness groups, Football group's of all ages .

Negative experience: Staff didn’t know the availability of lane swimming, said it was full but it wasn’t and I had to inform her that on the app it mentioned there was spaces available. Changing rooms really dirty and cold draft going through. Showers awful as well, barely any water comes out and only stays on for 5 seconds (I counted) would not be using this swimming baths if there was another one near.

Negative experience: I have been taking kids for swimming lessons but there is no communication from teachers My daughter is so good and ready to move up but each week she is kept in the same class.There are no assessments going on in any classes to move up kids to the next level or suggest improvememt.pool is dirty and hygeine is aweful

Positive experience: I have been using this for a few years now for my kids swimming lessons. Great progress before covid but after covid it feels like they have too many in the class and the pool is overcrowded. Took my daughter a long time to move up stage even though she was ready. My biggest issue is that they have stopped providing shoe covers for the pool side so everyone is walking along the pool side with dirty shoes which no doubt gets tracked into the pool. I started off taking my shoes off but it felt so gross walking barefoot in other people's dirt I have also started leaving mine on. I started the fitness classes a couple of months ago and really enjoy them. I definitely get my moneys worth out of them and feeling the difference. Both the kids swimming membership and the fitness membership is a good price. I would happily give extra stars if they sorted out the shoes on poolside issue and if the lessons didn't feel so crowded

Negative experience: Dreadful ! My 2 children who are both autistic are petrified of going back to their lessons as the instructor forced them to go in the deep end without warning! FIVE times my daughter said no she did not wan't to do it but she wasnt listened to, at the end of the lesson she came out sobbing, I have been trying for over two hours to get through on the phone to explain they both wont be coming back. I will be taking this further as we have two distraught children and lessons paid in advance for a month.

Fantastic experience: I love this place, the staff are lovely, I joined a couple of months ago to try to get myself fit and loose weight ,being a large lady I was a bit apprehensive but I couldn't have been treated any better I was shown around first before committing and now I have joined I can book my sessions to suite myself a great place with friendly people a nice cafe great pool and great gym facilities I love it the staff are extremely helpful and they will help you regarding any physical problems you may have they will recommend what you need to be doing to suite you best .

Positive experience: Enjoyed the slow lane swim. Very busy for public periods do not like the idea of unisex changing rooms though.

Negative experience: This review is for the membership team , don’t say you will call someone back if your not going to , when someone then leaves you voice mail don’t choose to ignore it . I’m a reasonable person I’ve waited a couple of days now ,the call back should have been at 4:30 two days ago I’ve left two voice mails since !

Positive experience: The organisation is questionable. Every week they tell me they have sorted our issue with our access card only for it to not work again the next visit. I completely understand why people can't enter until 5 minutes before their activity now, but it just ends up with a large group of people gathered at the entrance as there are never enough people on the front desk to address and questions or queries. The cleanliness of the changing rooms is questionable and that doesn't even take into account the numerous lockers and cubicles that are in need of repair. The showers are not in use at the moment, but even when they are they are useless. If it wasn't for the results I've seen from the swimming lessons provided I would go elsewhere. The swimming instructors have coached and encouraged my children amazingly well and are a credit to the place.

Fantastic experience: We love this place for family swimming. In fact we come all.the way from bedworth. Girls come here to swim with kingsbury swiming club on a Sunday so weve started coming as a family on a saturday or in the holidays. Staff are all very very friendly. Water temp not bad. Ok maybe changing rooms could be a bit cleaner but not many changing rooms are. BEST.bit is the lovely staff in the cafe and the food is yum best chips weve tasted.

Positive experience: Kids LOVE their swimming lessons. They have a lot of fun. The hygiene of the baths is diabolical. I'm constantly complaining... sadly zero improvement. Sadly, my only option for swimming lessons.

Negative experience: It is the dirtiest swimming baths I have ever been to it needs draining and a huge overhaul and detailed clean up!!!! , the changing rooms are disgusting smell of urine bins overflowing with ants in the summer , the baths look like they have the same dirt rim lines from 1991 , I caught athletes foot infection twice from there dirty changing rooms .. the snake slide is never turned on had a disappointed 5 year old , kingstanding baths is well better far far cleaner and has more going on for the kids ... the place needs a serious revamp

Negative experience: An absolute Joke! They suggest you pay £20 per month for the gym membership but then you cant go to the gym as it is full. It is not worth going there as they are unprofessional and have no Idea what is going on. Would recommend you do not sign up for the gym here as you will be lucky to get in

Negative experience: What is wrong with this place??? School half term, yet nothing is on for them. No slide, no floating devices to play on or with. And then today to top it off, no showers for before or after your swim. The place is a disgrace from its time of the past. Why can't kids just go to this place and have fun anymore???

Negative experience: I have an annual membership here. I haven't been for a month. Nor it seems have the cleaners, i was disgusted in the state of the place. Just been took over by a new company. Who forgot to hire cleaners and have seemingly only employed teenagers for cheap labour. Luckily some of the old staff are still there but they are instructors . Considering its on a council estate they charge a premium rate for a shocking 3rd rate service. If environmental health came they would shut it down, the pool and changing room along with the spa room are filthy. Embarrassing to be honest.

Positive experience: Reasonably clean and well kept. They have lots of classes but not much for children other than swimming. Disappointing and absurd that they sell so much junk food. Sweets, chocolate, crisps, cakes, cookies, fizzy drinks, fried and processed foods, just what everyone needs to keep their body healthy and fueled for exercise! As a member here expect to have random texts sent to you trying to sell you things
