Bushey Grove Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Nice selection of machines in the gym What I don’t understand why are the exercise bikes facing the wall I know I am in my late sixty’s and I don’t use the screen Could you not turn the exercise bikes facing the window. I pay a lot of money to Use the gym . Also I would like to mention there are two guys both Asian origin they run on the running machines and causing such horrific banging noises with there feet this should not be aloud You can actually hear them when walking up the stairs the ceiling shakes because the treadmills are right above . Next time I hear them I will call a manger Swimming pool I have not been for three years until Two weeks ago I was shocked how dirty the main swimming area was . I use to place my towel on the chairs opposite the pool not anymore every single chair had stains on it it’s disgusting the amount of money they charge you to use bushey grove is a con . Filthy floor The toilets a joke ! I’m going to contact the council and ask for the environmental health officer to visit bushey grove . The gym is now dirty and the staff are not cleaning the carpets and machines like they use too
Positive experience: I really like swimming here. Lately Saturday closes at 6:30 pm, whole it says 7 on their website. Apparently, it's an occasional thing, would be good to know how long.
Positive experience: Took grandson there for his swimming lesson.
Negative experience: They sold wrong type of membership to my wife, misleading her that she would be able to cancel anytime, that was discussed face to face at the centre, after 2 months when she wanted to firstly freeeze membership - she was declined to do so, and later when she asked to cancel it then, she was told that she need to wait full year in order for membership to be cancelled. Employees surely doesn't know what they are selling then, as it is not what she was promissed. Be carefull when getting memberships here, and overall I would recommend to avoid this centre as their practice is on a scam basis. Edit: After a few months of trying to reach manager and asking about his hours of work, so we could see him/her face to face and try to solve the problem peacefully before going to citizen advise and small court, it appeared that membership, magically, dissaperated, we were told that "director cancelled it", at this point, after months of refuse to listen to us, two penalties for God knows what; (they claimed that we cancelled and didn't set up back direct debit, which we did a day after cancelling it and after they've send us and email in the matter, they've send us post letter, 2 at the same time and date to inform that we are getting penalised for not setting up dd. After few tries, my wife was told that this need to be set up by phone not by an app or website, which I find simply stupid) Either they saw this review or simply started to use common sense. But for us it is too late, too much stress, hassle and money lost, recommending to avoid and check other reviews also if you don't belive me
Positive experience: Bushey Grove Leisure Centre: where you can burn calories inside and gain them back in the car park. The place has a solid lineup of sports and activities to keep you moving—indoors and outdoors—but the vending machines? A masterpiece of irony. Fancy a post-workout protein bar? Nope! Here, you’ll find chocolates, crisps, and Red Bull. It’s like they’re saying, “Congrats on the workout! Now undo it all.” The car park is an adventure in itself, with spaces so tight I’m convinced they were designed for bicycles, not cars. My paintwork now resembles abstract art after being “gently kissed” by other vehicles multiple times. Great for staying active, questionable for staying healthy, and a total hazard for staying scratch-free.
Fantastic experience: My friends and I play Padel every Saturday and have found the staff helpful and accommodating.
Negative experience: Health and Safety Police strike again. Adults are no longer allowed to use training paddles in the pool due to a decision made by Right Directions. No doubt we will soon have to wear flashing lights on our heads to warn other swimmers of our presence. The world has gone mad!
Thank you for your comments, these have been passed to the team.
Fantastic experience: My go to place for reflection ,therapy, start of the day and everything else. Clean, spacious and friendly.
Thank you for your comments, these have been passed to the team.
Positive experience: Great place to have a kids party plenty of room for indoor bouncy castles
Thank you for your comments, these have been passed to the team.
Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the swimming lessons my child is taking, Ms. Arabela is a very polite woman and a good instructor with 30 years of experience. We have been going to swimming lessons for almost three months and the little one is very excited. The pool is clean, the water is warm enough to take swimming lessons.
Positive experience: Nice leisure centre with good facilities.
Fantastic experience: It was a great location for the kids' birthday celebration.
Positive experience: Nice spa.greatclassesand pool .friendly helpful staff.
Negative experience: The swimming pool smelt like a urinal and there was a person of severe disability allowed to stay in the pool for over 2 hours unsupervised by a carer. This should not be allowed as he was clearly not using the toilet during this time. No-one should be in that pool for over an hour especially someone with physical disabilities
Negative experience: Too many old people
Positive experience: Friendly staff and good squash courts.
Fantastic experience: I visited Bushey Grove Spa on Father's Day for a surprise gift of a pedicure and a deep tissue back, neck, and shoulder massage. The experience was fantastic! It was my first time having a pedicure, and Bhavina did an excellent job. She made the experience enjoyable and relaxing. The deep tissue massage by Mia was also superb and provided much-needed relief for my shoulders. Both therapists were professional and skilled. Overall, it was a wonderful way to celebrate Father's Day. I highly recommend Bushey Grove Spa for their exceptional services and friendly staff.
Negative experience: I wish I could show the picture of chairs that we had today in our tea room for birthday party. We have paid almost 600£ for gymnastic party, but had to celebrate kids birthday on very dirty chairs it was so smelly dirty and disgusting. Also kids had to wait 20minutes for food, and then empty the room in 25 minutes. Did not get any ice cream that we paid for. Rubbish experience, never again
Negative experience: I am very disappointed in the spa facilities. I pay £70 a month for what I thought would be an exclusive and relaxing experience, but that is far from the reality. Despite paying for a membership, it seems that anyone can walk in and use the facilities without any scrutiny. This results in an overcrowded environment that is anything but relaxing. People frequently gather at the entrance, waiting for a legitimate member to open the door, and then they just follow them in. This not only diminishes the value of the membership but also creates a chaotic atmosphere. The staff are completely ineffective at managing this issue. They introduced a wristband system intended to control access, but in practice, no one wears them, and there are no checks in place. It feels like there's no effort being made to ensure the exclusivity and quality that paying members expect. If you're considering joining, save your money. A regular gym membership will give you the same access since enforcement is so lax. The spa is not delivering on its promises, and it’s frustrating to see such a lack of control and care. I will continue to use it as the spa it self is nice but very over crowded
Negative experience: I’ve been disappointed with Bushey Grove for a number of weeks and services do not seem to be improving. Firstly, they’ve changed the way you can book classes. This means the waiting list is no longer first come first served, but when a class becomes available everyone gets notified at the same time, and it’s fastest finer first to who gets on. That means that, unless you can book instantly, you’ve got no chance of getting onto a class. Many classes appear to get booked up in a matter of minutes. This change wasn’t communicated to members. The second issue today was that swimming was cancelled, despite being advertised as available on the app. I drove there only to be turned away. Bushey Grove didn’t think to cancel it on the app, meaning I wasted time travelling to the gym. The manager seemed completely uninterested, and they could have sectioned off some of the pool to accommodate me and others. Because of these issues my wife and I are planning to cancel our memberships and currently exploring other gyms in the area.
Fantastic experience: Nice sport facilities...
Positive experience: 1st class reception All the staff were very friendly Nice cafeteria
Negative experience: When did swimming for 2 adults and 1 child become £21! Absolute rip off considering one of the life guards actually fell asleep for a minute on duty!
Positive experience: Bring my son swimming every week, great staff, always lots of parking, brilliant classes
Fantastic experience: I go for Aquaaerobics which is great fun and so easy on my aged joints. I love Sally for her sweet nature, Natalie for her spirit, Sjoquist for her invention and Jack for his clarity.
Positive experience: Would just like to share my experience at the Cafe.I was greeted by a girl whos first words to me was What!! She obviously needs a lesson in Customer Service. The other woman took over & served me properly with the words. How may i help?
Negative experience: Please don't waste your money on a football party here. You'll be left to sort out the party on your own with no one to entertain the kids. Complete waste of money
Positive experience: Busy & noisy and that was just the cafe area
Positive experience: Isn't clen especially inside changing rooms and shower and inside the steam sauna smell a dump... The rest are fine...
Positive experience: Not super impressed with their Children's Runaround session. I've taken my daughter three times now and although there are activities for her to do there (only three), it doesn't include what was advertised online and the equipment is a little bit dated and worn. "For walking to 5-year-olds, join us for a fun-filled hour of soft play, bouncy castle time, hoops, balls and songs." Firstly there is no music which does kill the atmosphere a little bit, so no "songs" as stated. Also, no hoops or balls. There's also a picture of a child crawling through a tunnel on what must be an old leaflet and again, no equipment like this has been there the last 3 times for us. There is an area with a very short balance beam course (about 4 hobby horse style things) and a few long beams at various heights. This is fine but again very short with torn mats underneath taped up in places. There are some soft play cubes, steps and rings but again, a bit torn and dated. Then there's the bouncy castle. So not a lot there and can get very busy with a lot of children running free with parents not fully paying attention to their kids and no staff about. I've also noticed a lot of children coughing, sneezing, covered in snot or dribble and sharing the equipment with others which makes me a tad anxious but obviously we just do our best to keep clean. Reception staff are always pleasant but they're the only staff members we've ever seen there. Bit disappointing overall and not sure we'll go back unless we're really pushed for an activity that day.
Fantastic experience: Great inflatable session with the kids. Spa was nice!
Negative experience: One of their receptionist was disrespectful to me. I went to request a new card as I was told by the customer service on the phone and on email I can have a card as I am a spa member. The receptionist decided to lecture me and said I better look after it as they will not issue anymore. I didn’t understand how can they not issue if you card if lose as you wouldn’t want to take your phone to pool or to spa. She said she should have charge £5 for that. Then when I wanted to respond but she didn’t let me talk just turned her head around and started to chat to one of her college and just chucked my card one the desk. How rude you have to be to your customers? This has completely put me off and ruined my session and evening. I only went to ask for a card. Also this £5 charge not on the T&C and not stated anywhere. Also the facilities are not great and not well maintained. Th spa is dirty mos of the time the showers dirty, limescale built up everywhere. I also had issue with their entry system. And they give you strike if you don’t attend the class or them gym. If you forget to scan or make mistake they don’t care. They have a very bad system
Fantastic experience: Very good not to busy friendly staff
Negative experience: In summary, poor value for money, tired facilities, unhelpful staff. LONG: We joined this gym in late 2021. At the time we were considering this one, the David Lloyd, and several more budget gyms nearby. We were impressed with this one which had most of the same facilities as the David Lloyd but it was much more affordable and less pretentious. When we initially joined the service was good- I remember being impressed that they were even going as far as sweeping leaves from the car park paths. Unfortunately, over the last few years the service and cleanliness has deteriorated significantly, to the point where we decided not to renew our membership. I’m not sure if there’s been a change of management, but the staff over time have gone from friendly and welcoming to grumpy and unhelpful. Some key issues that led us to find a different gym. INDUCTION They no showed literally 3 dates in a row for my wife’s gym induction. All she wanted was a quick explainer on the gym and equipment. HARASSMENT While training in the gym someone tried chatting to me multiple times. I politely explained I was focusing on my workout. She continued trying to engage in conversation, literally waving her hand in my face to try to get my attention. I was about to go chat to member of staff and it turned out they were one of the PTs. I emailed the manager and received no response. BROKEN EQUIPMENT The equipment is constantly breaking and it takes ages for them to repair. Treadmills show the wrong speed (I had it on max and was barely jogging). The lockers are often broken (meaning it’s not unusual to see an embarrassed patron wrapped in a towel at the front desk), this has happened to me and I’ve seen it happen to other people. The Punchbags are often missing chains, or torn, or missing. The shower controls in the spa have been broken for almost a whole year, it’s not unusual for the saunas to be out of service. CLEANLINESS The cleanliness has fallen significantly, where previously it was spotless, the main pool changing area smells horrendous, there’s Chewing gum stuck to the walls of the cubicles. And I’ve seen plasters and what I can only hope is mud on floor. INANE BOOKING STRIKE SYSTEM More often than not, if I book anything with the app (classes, gym, pool or spa) after the event I get notified that I failed to attend a class and if I do it again I will be prevented from making bookings. The only way to resolve this is to contact the front desk and ask them to correct. You would have thought after this constantly happening for months they would look into it - but instead, this inane administration cycle became part of using the centre. SWIMMING Aside from the poor cleanliness, the lanes are often badly managed with overbooking on the swimming only lanes and lifeguards who just shrug rather than intervene to stop kids playing in the lanes. Why have such strict booking systems if the actual pool is a chaotic free for all? CONCLUSION I don’t like leaving negative reviews and would rather just talk to someone, however some of the staff interactions have been poor and I don’t have confidence they would make any changes. Where previously they were super responsive to any feedback (equipment would be fixed promptly) recently they’ve been combative and rude. Given the number of alternative gyms nearby - many that have been welcoming and seem to be well run, we’ve decided to leave this gym and go elsewhere. This is a real shame that a centre where a visit used to be something to look forward to became a constant source of headaches and frustrations.
Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre for gym, swimming, sauna etc.
Positive experience: Staff was awesome and very welcoming. Girl at reception was kind along with the girls helping out in the basketball courts area
Negative experience: We use the centre for Badminton. On several occasions we booked a court via the app and paid for it, only to be told sometimes by phone, and sometimes on arrival, that a basketball team have already booked and paid for the court and therefore our booking needs to be cancelled. They of course tell us how sorry they are and they credit us with the amount for next time. But the disappointment and wasted time in getting there and back is just not professional. Every time I tell them to fix the system they say it is beyond their scope and don't know who to speak to about it. This has happened over a year now and nothing is being done. On the court itself, we kept noticing balls of human hair floating on the courts. Disgusting! They will happily take your money, but won't spend it on maintenance. Again, no matter how many times I pointed this out, I get a 'sorry, we'll look into it', and you know they won't do anything about it. The food is bad too. Service really poor. Not impressed at all! Only use it now as a back up centre if we can't get a booking somewhere else.
Negative experience: Shambles, everything from the car park, the facilities and the general public who come here, it is poor! So many rude self entitled people who think they have right of way, and will quite happily push in front of a child! It’s dirty, depleted and in need of a serious overhaul! And as for the swimming lessons, it would appear all they care about is £££, cramming as many kids into a lesson as possible, no thought given to the kids learning to swim, pretty much swimming on top of each other! Progression is slow, and I feel a little conned by it all!
Negative experience: Great gym facilities. The membership options are very expensive for those that only want to use the gym.
Negative experience: Astro pitch has seen better days plus the lighting for it is inadequate, parts of the pitch are in darkness. They used such dodgy electricians that they have to turn on tennis courts lights or else one for the football pitch doesn't turn on. Then they have the cheek to charge for extra electricity, you couldn't make it up.
Negative experience: I couldn’t believe when I received CIVIL ENFORCEMENT parking charge notice in leisure centre. They give you 3 hours I only want my 3 kids get their dress up from swimming pool… See you never again
Negative experience: Got a full membership payed for and cancelled it in 2 days. Its been nearly a month and they still haven't refunded me! They've literally taken my money. and not giving it back...
Fantastic experience: Good atmosphere I take my children for swimming. Highly recommend this place.
Positive experience: The pool is always dirty. No bins in the toilets and no bins in the showers.
Negative experience: Disappointed my girls ho there for swimming lack of teachers lack of progression no coordination swimming school standards have gone down
Negative experience: Pathetic swimming school my experience no communication no coordination no progression
Positive experience: It’s fine for swimming service is sometimes good sometimes not good, very dirty stalls and food is gross as-
Fantastic experience: Going to use the pool for exercise to hopefully help my arthritic knees. The staff were really helpful and I have a good feeling about it
Negative experience: Why is it no matter the time of day the staff never answer the phone?
Negative experience: I'm only going for sauna and steam room, but not anymore, place is dirty, don't think it's been clean and it smells bad.
Negative experience: Make sure your Padal game is less than 3 hours, otherwise you’ll get a parking ticket. Ridiculous idea from a leisure centre
Positive experience: Great facilities with main swimming pool, smaller pool for classes with a drop floor. Huge gym and dance hall with a massive array of classes. Also a health suit with 2 Sauna and a Steam room. Loads of parking.
Negative experience: Extremely dirty and over priced. Staff and management don't care about hygiene at all. When I cancelled my membership, the retention team called me . When I mentioned the cleanliness, they just said oh yes we know . Shocking
Negative experience: Very bad customer service they never pick up the phone
Negative experience: Nice and clean pools. I wanted to register my child for swimming lessons but the receptionist was quite rude.Apparently they cant handle clarifying the same long ambiguous email they write to you when you make an enquiry. My child really wants to learn to swim but has a fear of water and the fact that for the most part the instructor is standing outside the pool and instructing the kids in the pool, i dont see her overcoming that fear. I think this place is not for us
Negative experience: very unpleasant and always grumpy young people at the reception. Even you are afraid to ask a question. I will be canceling my daughter's membership. I am very disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Excellent drinks while waiting for the brilliant Alex's Evolution Mobile Hair Salon.
Negative experience: If you are looking to send your children to swimming here, I would look around first. Seems there is to many students per class and not enough teachers. Different teachers are there most times meaning the progress made with the previous weeks teacher is not known. This happens regularly where the teacher is not the same. Unless you know the teacher (which I have seen) you can progress fairly quickly. My experience was my daughter was stuck on 99% for 1.5 months. In this time she was not assessed. Seems a waste of time where they are not helping her to achieve that 1% we then changed the class due to the lack of progress and they assessed her down to 95%. Not enough experienced teachers more graduate teachers. Seems they make the lessons up as they go along. Don't bother call the leisure center they are not helpful. Best to go directly there and wait in the long que.
Negative experience: This place has gone down the pan! I mainly joined because of the spa facilities and they were good standard, however recently this has all gone downhill. One of the saunas constantly doesn't work and the other one gets extremely overcrowded. I may be wrong but it seems lot of people seem to be sneaking in without booking or spa membership and no one seem to be checking. Saunas are not maintained, they are dirty and the wood is rotting. Steam rooms are so dirty and stinky too. It makes you wonder if anyone cares about these facilities at all. They have also installed bright lights in the steam room and the saunas which defeats the purpose of relaxation!. Staff have got no clue how to run these facilities and it is real shame as in my opinion this place has all the potential to be great in the local area. Luckily I did not take up the annual membership and I will soon be thinking of cancelling it if things don't improve soon!
Fantastic experience: I needed to join a gym and fortunately have a considerable choice around me. This is the one I have chosen for several reasons: large, airy, latest machines, cleanliness and staff friendliness and assistance were some. Easy parking and price together with loads of other facilities convinced me that this was the one for me and so far, the correct decision.
Negative experience: My wife and I joined to do Aqua aerobics following a knee operation and advice from doctors. We found bullying from older members who felt they were privileged compared to newer members. The smaller pool used for three of the weekly sessions has height adjustment to suit different sessions ie children. The maximum height is normally set at 1.3 metres and this is inadequate for myself being 6’2” tall as the water does not fully support my body. When I request the pool to be raised to 1.4 metres some older members complain as it means they would have to move towards the shallow end and they do not want to move from positions in the pool they feel is something they are entitled. When I ask them to move there is then a bad atmosphere created and instructors taking the lesson are reluctant to listen to my requests and keep the pool at the lower water level. The pool in most cases only has swimmers in two thirds of the pool all at the deeper end so there would be plenty of room for everyone to make room if they simply moved along. This problem has been recognised by lifeguards and instructors who all think it’s laughable to have a group demanding something so selfish. The actual facilities and staff are all very good apart from this criticism. There seems to be a large number of swimmers who also prefer the deeper level of water but lack confidence in voicing their opinions due to bullying from some members.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and great swimming pool's. ♀️
Negative experience: Booked the tennis court for £13 online. showed up and they are in a dire state. net hanging super low, you can’t see the lines and there’s other netball lines overlapping the faint tennis ones. They need to update their courts or stop charging people as there are plenty of free courts in much better condition than these ones.
Positive experience: It's a good gym Weights and machines are very good and new. Swimming pool is clean and kept warm. Has teaching pool for kids swimming lessons Members locker system needs reviewing. Never enough lockers and the code system means people can lock them open so others can't use them Showers are often out of shower gel. The card system means you always need your card with you so if you are going for a swim you need to leave your card by the side of the pool. Sauna and steam in good condition and works every time I have been but there is no hot tub. Many classes available included in membership Price is reasonable. Not cheap but not too expensive. Update. Facilities used to be good and well maintained but recently it's becoming a bit run down. Lockers are always breaking. Shower gel is always empty. The sauna has just been refurbished/ benches replaced and the benches have already started to warp. The handle on the plunge bucket is broken. The steam room is always broken. It's on,produces heat but no steam and it burns. No regular checks and always takes ages for things to get fixed. Gym is ok Equipment is adequate. Not worth the monthly fees but no other gym nearby so at the moment still a member due to locality rather than quality and value for money score: 3
Fantastic experience: We were there for a kids party, and it was so spacious, well organised, the kids had a blast in a safe and clean environment and there was loads for them to do! Absolutely loved it
Fantastic experience: Great facilities. Meera on reception was very helpful.
Fantastic experience: Very handy nice sports centre
Fantastic experience: Super helpful and friendly staff! Very clean. Great showers in the spa changing room and straighteners provided too. Great spa facilities. Nice light building with lots to offer activity wise. Big carpark which has a carwash too. Well worth the membership.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place, from swimming, spa, sauna and more amazing places for you to relax.
Fantastic experience: Very clean environment. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: Extremely dirty sitting spaces in Sauna with rotting wood, floor is all the time filthy & slippery and full of hairs. At £14 each hourly session at least expect facilities to be clean. Staff is never helpful and trying customers to pay additional on one thing or the other.
Fantastic experience: Joining a gym can be quite an anxious thing however Lila made my mother feel comfortable and did not push her at all. She explained all the benefits well and it was an easy decision to join thereafter thanks to Lila empathy and attention to detail in giving my mother what she wanted/ needed. She is a great ambassador for the gym, I imagine a lot of people decided to join there based on the experience they had with Lila!
Positive experience: Had my hair cut in the Mobil Hairdressers by Alex. It's called Involution. Well worth booking up.
Positive experience: So I’ve been attending the gym since July. I have an annual contract with them… since attending the gym I’ve noticed a couple of things. 1) staff aren’t polite or professional. I’ve noticed some male PTs being inappropriate and reported it to management but was met with defensiveness instead of eagerness to make the environment a safe and comfortable place. 2) The place seems to be falling apart. The steam room is always broken, the lockers are temperamental - the lockers aren’t even monitored. Some people keep them for themselves. 3) The pool isn’t cleaned regularly, they believe chlorine is sufficient yet a clean would do it good. My skin reacted to it. I no longer can use the pool for this reason - yet I still pay for it… in this economy 4) The gym has multiples of some equipment yet lack the most common pieces of equipment. I’ve also reported this and nothing was done. My opinion - don’t sign up to an annual membership. Perhaps try it for 3 months and make your decision that way. That way you won’t be locked in… like me. I’d like to be free from this place as soon as possible.
Fantastic experience: I've been a member of this gym for more then 8 years, and I absolutely love it. After it's refurbishment, its improved a lot. Especially the Spa and Sauna are amazing, with their lovely aromatherapy and salt shower rooms. The classes which I attend, I'm very happy with, as there are more then enough to choose from. Even the early ones I go to are great ! The instructors are the best, compared to the others I've used before at various gyms. They provide us with invaluable advice, when needed. Linda is an excellent receptionist...I got a parking fine but she helped me bail out of it, as there was an error on the way I had left the gym. She went out ofher way to help me with the online gym booking and I wasn't fined. She should be awarded the best employee of the year !!
Fantastic experience: Great sport centre for kids and adults. Lots of classes to choose from. Lovely big swimming pool.
Positive experience: I visit this leisure centre solely to use the spa facilities which I think are great. The saunas and the steam room function well, the facility is clean as are the changing room and toilets. The staff are friendly and polite and always seem happy to help when necessary. I usually visit about once a month but only because I do not live in the area, else I would've become a member already.
Positive experience: Swimming staff polite and friendly. Receptionist was very rude when asked about changing lessons as my child had been pushed up a level. Pool area was clean but the interior needs a revamp. Nice to have seating near the kids pool so we can watch as our child learns to swim and offer then support. Lockers are available. Lots of free parking available as well.
Negative experience: 5 minutes in there and decided: I'M NOT COMING AGAIN! We went just for the pool, haven't seen much else. I was so disappointed! Multiple lockers are broken, changing area was sooo dirty and full with rubbish everywhere. Inside the changing cubicle there are only 2 pegs. When I left, I even saw men's underwear on the floor. If you go, you MUST wear flip flops as the floor looks dirty and that hasn't been changed in a while. The air temperature was good, water a bit colder, but fair enough. The pool walls are made of tiles that are slippery, so do take care.
Positive experience: Easy access. Lots of parking .
Negative experience: The swim timetable online says public swim is open from 2pm on a Saturday. My daughters went there at 2 and were told to go away and come back at 4pm as the pool was not open yet. They came home and went back at 4pm and were told they had to wait 20 minutes because it was full. When they were finally allowed in they go only 1/2 hour swim. When. I went to collect them the rude receptionist called me over and said they hadn’t paid yet. Ibexplainedvthecsituation and said I will pay now and she said don’t bother. The timetable needs to be changed and the staff need to be trained
Negative experience: They claim to be offering a free one day pass. There is no mention that in order to qualify, you need never to have been to the centre before. I was denied a pass after completing and submitting the form because I was once a member. I went there today to swim. The one receptionist was apathetic. For some unexplained reason, she needed all my details to charge me the correct price for the swim. Although a long queue was forming behind me, she was indifferent to this. Finally, she had to go off to find a colleague who knew what to do. When I gained admission to the pool area, I found the showers and changing rooms were filthy. The whole centre is sad and tired, despite its refurbishment a few years ago. Not really to be recommended.
Positive experience: Very nice place for families to have activities with there children . Swimming classes are really good . Easy parking area .
Negative experience: Worst place ever. They never answer the phones, instead they sit there at the reception desk and happily chatting away... never again!
Negative experience: I had the most disgusting member of staff Wed evening 15th Jan.Refused me entry as i couldnt use app,he never answered phone so was late but still in time for lasy entry, arrogant said he was duty manager
Negative experience: My child goes to swimming lessons for the last couple of months. They often cancel the classes without informing me . It has happened to me four times. When i ask the staff at the reception they lie that they tried to call me the phone didnt ring or they have the wring email address in the system. I am really disappointed that the staff are able to lie like this and they do not have any ethics. They dont apologise for wasting my time for their fault. I made a call and left a voice message asking the complaints procedure. They never returned the call back. I am surprised such an organisation with poor management exist in the UK. Do not send your children here for any lessons. Parents are not provided any updates on how the children are making any progress. They just love to make money. If you phone the phone rings and they dont answer.
Positive experience: Reasonably priced leisure centre with good gym, two pools, lots of fitness classes and a spa. Really enjoy and benefit from the aqua classes.
Fantastic experience: Good leisure centre without massive queues or overcrowding. Staff are always helpful.
Fantastic experience: 2mins down the road from David Lloyd, basically the same facilities with gym, pool, classes, tennis courts etc but third of the price. Classes seem great, loads to chose from, good mix of people as well if your worried about looking unfit or poor coordination.
Negative experience: Didn't like this place at all. We went there for swimming with kids but was very cold in the building and the water. Don't recommend this place but maybe is just my opinion.
Positive experience: They've refurbished from when I was last there, years ago. However, it's a good place for leisure activities eg: sauna rooms x2, steam room, gym, massage (I think you to prebook massages), pool etc. Hot drinks and pastries on ground floor with sitting area. They no longer have a jacuzzi which I loved and I'm sure most people did. Shower area has separate private cubicles "not open like before" which I love. Lockers also available to store your belongings and clothing. Shower area was clean enough but could be better (noticed a few areas of mould where cleaning is needed in shower cubicle I used). Parking is free, staff appear friendly but that's just who I dealt with, don't know about others. It's located not too far away from Costco in Watford. Hope this helps you. ✅As a side note, Jesus Christ loves you, He came to this world to die, on the Cross and pay the penalty for your sins, so that you don't end up perishing (John 3:16-17) i.e., lose your soul and be condemned to hell. Whether or not you know it or believe it, all of humanity will have to stand before Jesus Christ one day (I encourage you to choose Him as your Saviour today or He will be your judge tomorrow, which will be too late for you to be saved ). It really doesn't matter what you've done in your life, He gave His life to save yours. The choice is yours to make. Be encouraged and choose to live your life through Him and for Him Alone and ONLY HIM (John 14:6 & Romans 10:9-10).
Fantastic experience: Good nice place for relaxing activity, gymnastics, swimming, tenis and football!!!
Fantastic experience: Just joined as a senior. Lots of options for activities. Very efficient, professional set up. Start of a new year and new commitment to health.
Negative experience: I play squash here regularly because it’s the only option available. Courts are dirty, never cleaned, and falling apart. Pretty shoddy considering what they want for membership. One of the managers has no customer service bone in his body, totally left us speechless one morning. Rude and arrogant. Swim, freezing cold pool, silly high prices to use the sauna/steam. All in all it’s a half attempt at everything. It could be great, shame really.
Fantastic experience: It has all the right ingredients for a lovely gym.
Negative experience: I was extremely disappointed with the disorganization and lack of responsibility of the management. I had my son’s birthday party booked two months in advance so we could have a good time, the menu we chosen was totally different from what we were served at the party, we also paid for a bouncy castle that never happened as well and the staff wasn’t helpful at all, I asked if the kids could play football another 30 minutes and it was denied. The only thing we heard it was I’m sorry you will receive your refund referent to the bouncy castle and the mistake on the menu.
Positive experience: Love the spa here. Excellent customer service - just quite hard to get hold of someone at times. Swimming pool is a decent size. Everyone who works here seems to be very laid back and friendly, creating a nice feel to the place. The changing rooms are next to the pool so there is no awkward walking between the pool to the lockers or the loos. Women's showers don't seem to always work. Cafe has good options. Reception is always friendly. Definitely recommend if you just want to have a good swim or spa session.
Positive experience: Member of this centre 6 months, gym is pretty small and is missing a few machines but is always clean and fairly quiet, even in the busy periods. Pool is great. Spa is a lovely addition when open (check the opening times before you go, specially on weekends). Overall I feel the centre could do with an update to justify the fees as it is tired throughout. Shout out to Ellie on the membership team for helping me. Fantastic customer service, thank you :)
Fantastic experience: We love their new gym and their great facilities .
Negative experience: Poor customer service team, hardly ever pick up the phone and a dysfunctional app which makes bookings a nightmare. Luckily the facilities are very good though!
