Negative experience: Needs some investment especially in the changing room. Went to try and put my clothes in the locker only to see the locks were missing from all the lockers. Asked at reception and was told they could sell me a padlock?!! Ended up taking my stuff into the pool area.

Fantastic experience: Torridge leisure centre is a Great clean tidy all round lovely facility with amazingly informative assistants and instructors in all areas , pool , fitness classes, gym etc . If your new to anything fitness relative or an experienced fitness nerd this facility suits everyone young and old . The reception guys are all friendly and helpful and each and everyone takes time to ensure you get the most from your visit to the leisure centre and they all give you helpful advice and guidance as you navigate through your planned fitness goals/visions . 5 star all round facility with exemplary staff in all departments . It’s a pleasure to be a member at this local facility .

Facilities include a 25m swimming pool and learner pool perfect for swimming lessons and aqua classes plus a fitness studio and a modern dance studio. With great value memberships on offer and expert advice and guidance on hand by our team of Health & Fitness Instructors.

Fantastic experience: Saffron is an amazing swimming teacher. They are encouraging, great pace of lessons and taught my child to be a competent swimmer.

Negative experience: Made the gym for under 16 only up to 10kg dumbbells. Facilities are quality though with everything near brand new

Positive experience: The swimming pool is excellent, staff are friendly courteous and helpful. The showers are very poor and the changing rooms are archaic very little privacy! It is very clean and most important of all, NO MUSIC! Ten out of ten for that. Swim is £5 even for a pensioner; seems a little steep but hey ho, sign of the times eh?

Fantastic experience: Great new gym equipment. Made to feel very welcome as an occasional visitor whilst being given an induction for the use of the gym by David. Friendly welcome at reception also. Would look forward to returning again should I find myself in the area.

Negative experience: I just went swimming at torridge pool the water was warm and very clean the lockers and showers were also very good and all the staff were very professional we are so lucky to have this pool in northam so please use it

Negative experience: Shocking! Website is beyond something you could call functional. I had sent a request to change from gym and swim to swim only. It not only took them a week to action this, but i was unable then to book any swimming. I had sent an email to rectify this but received nothing back. I then received a bill to pay for the month! When i raised my issue with management, i received some of the worst customer service i have seen. Not only refusing to acknowledge the fault, but unbelievably rude and aggressive. I was left with "if you want to use any services for 1610, then you will need to pay the for the month" Pay for a month i was unable to book any sessions for and a ignored email raising the issue? just nuts... Don't bother with this site. Run by Karen's who are unable to see logic and reason.

Fantastic experience: So much improvement since it became active Torbridge. Everything’s clean, in good repair. Swim lockers are either padlock or there’s some that take pound coins, but you need to bring something to keep the key safe. They aren’t on any sort of strap. The staff are absolutely wonderful, really friendly. They were fantastic at engaging with my autistic son.

Positive experience: Use this for Aqua class which is excellent. However, the toilets and changing area need updating! Little privacy and nowhere to lock belongings away. Pool is closed for August for maintenance, so hopefully they'll attend to the base of the pool which is, in places, sharp and uneven! The exterior is depressing and dirty and desperately needs a clean/redecorating as it's extremely scruffy!!! Website also needs attention as, since new ownership in April, you can't book online!

Positive experience: Not a bad little leisure centre, recently taken over from 1610 by Active Torridge who I understand have invested money in the gym (I only use the pool). However they could also do with spending a little on the fabric of the swimming pool side of things too as there are no steps out at deep end (broken), the lockers and all but one of the cubicles in the female changing room don't lock. However, it is always clean and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Haven't been able to attend since covid because of the rediculouse online booking system. Needing to set up a separate account for each person to book is insane. It needs a family booking option or something because I've been travelling all the way to bude to avoid using there website.

Fantastic experience: Edited for most recent trip today. Think the longer just swim sessions are amazing, managed to take my little boy swimming for 2hrs 45mins for £7.30 or could also take my wife and daughter for £11. Price is really reasonable but always found the old 1hr sessions too short for kids that love the pool so these new longer sessions are great! The Pool its self is big, clean & heated so perfect for the colder months while the beach is too cold. And have never found it to be too busy.

Positive experience: Great value membership for the gym. Friendly staff. My little one also has swimming lessons. But we are not allowed to watch. I like that Monday to Thursday I can go really early before work and school. Bit disappointing that it's not open till 9.15 on a Friday. It would also be nice if there was a bit more choise of classes on an evening as all good ones are in the day. No good for a working mum.

Online book is rubbish have to book my self, pay, then book my 1st child pay, and then again for each family member. I get thing have to be different now (Covid) but make a simple system please. Negative experience: The pool is good and the staff are lovely but the website has to win an award for the worst website ever created! We have 3 devices to be able to book a swimming session on and two don't recognise the pop ups and when you log in on the laptop to book swimming for 1 adult and 2 children (Including a 6 and 3 year old) you cannot book more than one person in. I thought I'd log back in and pay for another member of the family but it only allows you to cancel the first booking, obviously a 3 and 6 year old doesn't have an email address - it's the most frustrating website/App ever! on the phone for over an hour now to try and book a session.

Fantastic experience: It's a lovely pool and the children had fun at the fun floats session. I'd highly recommend. Please be aware that due to precautions in place the changing rooms and the baby pool are closed. There are baskets on the pool side for belongings. I'd advise bringing a towelling dress etc otherwise you will find yourself fully changing on the side of the pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful

Positive experience: The pool itself is very pleasant and the staff were helpful and attentive. Parking is free of charge too. The changing rooms are very much in need of an update and be warned that the lockers require a padlock. You can buy these on site at £3 each, however they were sold out when we visited, so it's probably best to bring your own. There is no family changing area and kids over 8 yrs much change in the changing area for their own gender.

Negative experience: Customer service seems to have been forgotten today. Arrived at 11:15 and asked if assistant at reseption if it would be possible to swim with my juniors today due to swimming lessons, was told it would not be a problem the smaller pool will be open. Paid £10.30 for the entrance and at 12:00 was told to leave the pool while they rearranged the floats. In all £10 for 30 mins pool time is unreasonable. Confronting the reseption staff about the issue I was told that it was a different session and offered a time table and the implication this was my fault. Waste of time waste of money. Will just use another pool next time. Children very disappointed

Positive experience: I have been a member of Torridge pool for 20 years, the Gym is great, the pool is great. The downside is the ladies changing room, on a Thursday there are usually 40 ladies doing Aqua fit, mums and small children, all using the same changing room. They have taken away some of the wooden struts to hang clothes on, so there is not enough places to hang our clothes. The floors are always wet and grubby, so we have to put a towel on the floor to stand on. They really nead a cleaner to keep the floor clean. It can't cost a lot to sort out someone to keep the toilets and floors clean, specially where there are young children involved. We are all thrilled with our new Aqua fit teacher, she is extremely good. I am voicing what a lot of us feel. Regards R Davis.

Negative experience: Kind of appalled by the service received here, My son is signed up to swimming lessons here he really enjoys them and the instructor is amazing with the children, However outside of the lesson I find some of the staff on the reception extremely rude it's been 3 weeks since the instructor went on holiday and they do not have cover (That's fine) but I have just been charged for this month when he has not been, They continuously tell us they will refund for the lessons missed and haven't this only amounts to around £20 but they haven't refunded any and it's been over 3 months since the first missed lesson. Staff could do with an attitude adjustment on reception and the company should really stick to their word before they start losing clients.

Negative experience: As a facility it is poor overall and has been mostly untouched and left to deteriorate for the past 30 years. The main changing rooms are a disgrace. The gym is not really a gym at all but a collection of dilapidated cardio machines, a handful of one of a kind resistance training machines and a selection of free weights including a single cheapo barbell set, two benches but not a single rack of any kind. The free exercise area amounts to a begrudging afterthought! ...Meanwhile the exercise studio next to it, the only vaguely respectable room in the whole building lies dormant for much of the day. The weekend opening hours are seriously lacking and the weekday closing time seems optimistically early to me. Many of the staff seem like they are bored, do not want to be there and generally seem to lack enthusiasm, hardly surprising given their dismal workplace. On the whole the place just oozes lazy management and underfunding. If it was not the cheapest closest place around it would have shut. Perhaps it should. 2 Stars, one for being cheap and the other for the three staff who actually seem to have a clue what they are about.

Negative experience: After 10 years coming to this pool Ive finally had it. Cold kids pool, dirty changing rooms, 70% of lockers not working, £7.00 for me and my 4 year old to swim, strange/limited opening hours, smell of urine in changing rooms often overpowering, dated decor, rotten woodwork. Will not be coming again will opt to drive the 10 miles to Barnstaple. Edit: 5/2/18 now NOT ONE single locker in the men's changing rooms is operational. Edit: 1/10/18 to lock your things up you now can buy - yes BUY - a padlock from the leisure centre for £3.50. I wonder what on earth they can do to make this "leisure centre" worse when I make my next biannual visit.
