Fantastic experience: What a beautiful gym with great music, great machines and great atmosphere too. PT wise? I’ve really enjoyed working with Wayne. He’s very knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely care about helping me achieving my goals. During this journey I lost nearly 5 kg. His guidance with both training and nutrition has been invaluable, and I’ve learned so much during our time together. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dedicated and professional PT.

Negative experience: The boxing ring is for show, it's ridiculous them having one you can't use it for what it's supposed to be used for, the bags are shite aswell, gym equipment average nothing speacial.

Negative experience: Men’s changing rooms smell really bad, like any budget gym it’s very pile it high which is fair enough but can be very busy. Huge gym with a tiny sauna The ice baths are terrible and borderline health hazard Good facilities but poorly maintained

Fantastic experience: Everlast is a great gym. Not intimidating with loads of equipment to use. Classes are great to give that extra motivation to push yourself :))

Andy Patterson 9 months ago

Fantastic experience: The best gym I’ve been to in the North! The facilities and equipment are top notch, especially the official HYROX gear, which has been a game changer for my training this winter. The reception staff are all incredibly friendly and welcoming, but a special shoutout to Alex, who went above and beyond during the sign up process. She made me feel truly welcomed and set a great tone for my experience at the gym. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Great staff all round, very helpful, special mention must go to Alex, who knows what I would like, knocks up my order without any hesitation and brings it over… you don’t get that at any competitors!!

Positive experience: Good gym with decent equipment. Good classes on offer. Avoid when raining or during peak shopping hours as it hards to find parking in the multi car storey car park.

Fantastic experience: Great gym and very friendly staff throughout who are alway on hand to help! Having lost my motivation recently I joined John’s small group training sessions and have been thoroughly enjoying my time back in the gym. He created a plan for me to complete on my own, provided me with nutritional information and is alway available for help and support!

Fantastic experience: Would highly highly recommend PT with John! The physical and mental changes since working with him have been incredible and I can’t thank him enough for everything he has already helped me achieve.

Olivia Kennedy 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Joined the Everlast gyms when it very first opened last year and it was the best choice I ever made! Doing so led me to my current PT John Mitchinson whose helped me with my confidence and strength in the gym durastically over the past 6 months or so. Couldn’t recommend him or the gym enough, full of friendly staff and members and has so many ammenities for the price you pay, making it all so worth it! Wouldn’t be where I am today with my fitness journey without John and the everlasting gyms :)))

Fantastic experience: Everlast Gym is a brilliant gym, I love the variety of classes they offer and the trainers are knowledgeable and motivating, ensuring that you get the most out of every workout. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, Everlast Gym provides everything you need to achieve your fitness goals. Highly recommended! I also cannot recommend John enough! From the moment I started working with him, he made me feel comfortable and motivated and he always pushed me to challenge myself. John has an incredible knowledge of fitness, and their positive attitude makes every session enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Everlast Gym is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. The facilities are always spotless, and the equipment is Class! John is an absolutely phenomenal personal trainer! From day one, he took the time to understand my fitness goals, assess my abilities, and create a plan that was challenging yet achievable. His knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and technique is outstanding, and he always explains the "why" behind every exercise, which has helped me stay focused and motivated. What I appreciate most about John is his genuine enthusiasm and encouragement. He pushes me to do my best while ensuring I don’t overdo it. Best PT I’ve ever had!

Fantastic experience: I joined the gym in February this year and it has been a game changer for me. I could never stick with a gym before I found Everlast but I would give this place 5 stars for atmosphere alone. Outstanding equipment, exceptional classes, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Really happy overall! Special shout out to John Mitchinson - a Personal Trainer who I have been working with since June, highly recommend for 1:1 training.

Adnan Awan 11 months ago

Negative experience: Wish I read these reviews before I joined. Gym is ok if you go at the right time but the changing room and the shower stinks really bad. I thought I was the only one who could smell this but after reading the reviews I can tell it’s just not me. If it doesn’t get sorted I will be moving to somewhere else and am sure many other would.

William Watson 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Been training at Everlast since may/June time could recommend it highly enough. Fantastic equipment with plenty of choice. All members I’m come across are spot on. All the staff are really helpful and will go above and beyond especially John Mitchinson. Been training with John since July time and he’s massively helped me get my life in order he focuses on not just your workouts and fitness but also making sure your mentally healthy and creating a positive change to your lifestyle.

Laura Reay 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: I've been training at Everlast since around July or August. Initially, I experimented with solo gym sessions but lacked a clear objective. Subsequently, I began participating in various classes throughout the week, still without a definitive goal in mind. The gym boasts an impressive size, offering a wide array of top-notch equipment, while the staff diligently work around the clock to maintain its cleanliness and orderliness. A few weeks in, I came across a women's only small group personal training trial. Intrigued, I decided to try it out and found the experience enjoyable. Consequently, I signed up that same week to work with John Mitchinson. I have been participating in a women's-only small group training for nearly three months. During this time, my focus and goals have fully aligned, my strength has significantly improved and continues to do so each week, and my knowledge has expanded greatly. Most importantly, the comprehensive support has been fantastic, ranging from one-on-one discussions about goals and desired outcomes to nutrition plans and check-ins on my well-being and progress, covering all aspects in between.

Conor Ferris 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Been training at Everlast Metrocentre for a full year now since it first opened. In my first few weeks I bumped into John (Mitchinson) who then helped me to rehab a recurring ankle injury and has coached me this past year. Couldn't recommend John highly enough, he's extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Added bonus: the gym is MASSIVE.

Stephanie Stewart 11 months ago

Fantastic experience: Joined in February 2024. I can honestly say it’s the best gym I’ve ever been to and I’ve tried a lot over the years . There’s an extensive range of quality cardio / resistance machines, free weights , classes and PT options all of which I use. The atmosphere is friendly and not intimidating at all , the staff are helpful, professional and approachable. At 55 I’m achieving realistic and positive results both physically and mentally and looking forward to improving and challenging myself further at Everlast in the future.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym, I’ve been here a year now and I won’t be going anywhere else. The equipment and facilities are amazing, highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Joined a week ago, done 2 classes and a bit of my own stuff so far. Staff on reception are lovely, trainers are lovely too, very motivating and keep and eye on your form when you're doing the class. Soooo much equipment and haven't waited for anything so far. Clean changing rooms and lots of hairdryers. Absolutely aching now but that's what I'm paying for? Very impressed so far.

Paul K 1 year ago

Positive experience: When this gym first opened it was getting 5 star reviews and looked amazing. A year on and it's gone downhill - you wait a long time for machines - large areas of the gym floor get taken over by classes when you're training there - the Ice Baths have been out of order more than working - poor drainage so changing rooms and showers stink - not enough popular dumbells - too many people having photoshoots - management seem to hide Disappointing as this should be the best gym in the North East

Sarah Valentine 1 year ago

Positive experience: I LOVE this gym, The staff are great so far especially the member of staff that signed me up, she made me feel very safe and is in fact the major reason why I keep going back. Facilities are beyond what I expected. Lots of different kinds of equipment for all different kinds of exercise. Lots of cardio. Plenty of classes and even a boxercise area with a ring and punching bags. Changing rooms include the toilets, a sauna and a "chill room" whatever that means and showers and best of all PRIVATE CHANGING CUBICLES, could not be happier. Regarding the showers, be warned that the shower floor has not been installed correctly, the floor is supposed to be angled towards the drain to allow water to drain on it's own but this is not the case causing the whole changing room to stink of stale water.

Sean 1 year ago

Positive experience: Okay gym nothing more than that. Not enough machines when it gets crowded and the layout of them isn’t the best, haven’t used enough of the space that’s there. The music is far too loud same type of music constantly

Lady Sunderland 1 year ago

Negative experience: Just moved my membership away from Metrocentre to Sunderland where they still have pump (Lift) and combat classes. I joined Everlast (Ex-DW) some years ago to attend these particular classes. Once they moved to Gateshead all these classes were removed and replaced by boring 'branded' timetable. The name 'Apex' sounds silly & makes me think of apes rather than humans. Reception is understaffed with only one person working and the music on the gym floor was so loud I could hardly hear myself speaking to the receptionist. I feel sorry for anyone who works in this noise. Also I usually like black colour but this gym is just too black. Some shades of grey or brown colour wold be much nicer. Apart from this, they take long time to respond to members' messages (if they reply at all) and the rate of actually resolving any issues via the messaging service is negligible. The replies you get are off-point and not really helpful. To the area manager; please stop removing pump and combat classes in our area- people have been doing them for y10+ ears and love them around here (especially ladies).Boxing class cannot replace combat because combat is not about boxing. Combat is basically a 'badass' dance class (interesting cardio) with a very flexible intensity, thus suitable for young as well as more mature members. It is all about moving to the music without looking silly (not about boxing).Similar with pump. These two classes are fun and easy to be incorporated into a busy lifestyle. Removing them will cost you memberships (jd still does them so people who like these classes will just go there). I think Everlast should keep these two classes in addition to your branded timetable. Also when employing new instructors please check if they have a sense of rhythm (can move to music). Being in a class with an instructor who has no sense of rhythm feels very chaotic. Such people can usually only deliver some old-school circuit-style classes where they do not have to exercise with the group. The best/ most busy classes are ones where the instructor moves together with us rather than 'boss us around'.

Jude Daunt 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have bought crazy expensive headphones to try and drown out the music levels in this gym and still it continues to break through the noise cancellation. I won’t be renewing my membership

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here since February. This gym is amazing. Always clean, tidy, plenty of machines to use rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes for a machine. The staff are so lovely, always super helpful, especially Alex - she’s always happy to help, greeting everyone with a lovely smile, she’s made the gym experience so wonderful for me. Anyways highly recommend 10/10 ( especially the protein shakes)

Negative experience: I’m a recent user of everlast gym in Gateshead and to be honest, I’m quite frankly appalled by the service I recieved. I got there and went to the desk at reception to claim a day pass I had. Without knowing or being told in any way after clicking on Gateshead which was my chosen gym for the day pass I was told that the day pass was eligible for every other everlast gym bar the one in Gateshead. After being told this, I questioned in a respectful manor how I was supposed to know this due to it not being mentioned in any way before I turned up. The bald man with an accent at reception then proceeded to bite back at me very aggressively and in a disrespectful manor, whilst swearing at me using the F word and name calling me. I still dont know or can comprehend why this happened, perhaps he was having a bad day, but I felt as though I was being attacked for no reason. He then proceeded to use the C word to abuse me which left me utterly speechless. I had no way to respond as he kept going until he finally gave a form to fill in to let me in. I’m sure not all staff are like this however it gave me an extremely bad experience as well as leaving me shocked aswell as my friends who were there to witness it. Also I’m not quite sure if he is Scottish, Irish or even Welsh but he had a very distinctive accent.

Negative experience: Avoid this gym at all costs. Fully loaded barbells left on the racks or benches and dumbbells left all over the place as the gym floor is rarely staffed. Members routinely bumping into me while benching due to the poor layout of equipment, currently up to 4 separate occasions. Attempted to cancel my membership due to safety concerns and was told as I have not suffered an injury it is not an issue, the 2 members of staff at the reception desk didn't seem to care at the time, however, did point me in the right direction to complain. No further communications despite sending 4 emails to the management team. Do yourselves a favour and choose any other gym in the local area.

Negative experience: The gym is no longer there in byker and I am still been charged..disgraceful

Eden Clark 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good overall gym high tier equipment but need more machines like another pec fly and more cables as always super busy. The toilet area stinks and the music is too loud and repetitive also the gym closes far too early.

Thomas Davison 1 year ago

Positive experience: A good gym overall, equipment is really high standard, but for how busy it is, there's just not enough of key equipment. I've never once been able to use the fly machine in 4 weeks of going to the gym, and it's next to impossible to get 2 cables at once. Aside from that the gym is good, but need more cables and key machines.

ben marshall 1 year ago

Negative experience: Member 791323 STAY CLEAR OF THIS GYM GROUP!!!! Everlast are refusing to cancel my membership after closing the Byker gym. I tried to use the alternative gyms provided for the last few months and have found the traveling time is too much after work. When I have raised this with Everlast, Everlast advised they sent me an email when the Byker gym closed in March 2024 giving me until the end of the month to cancel my membership with them. This email went to my junk mail so I did not read the email with in the allocated time frame. when I have highlighted this to Everlast, their response was "I appreciate the email may have gone to your junk folder however we are not liable for the mailbox settings our members have". Since the Byker gym has closed and Everlast are refusing to cancel my membership I am now stuck paying for a "championship membership" that used to offer 3 gyms in the North East, to now only realistically having 1 gym within a reasonable traveling distance to myself, and Everlast are still Refusing to cancel my membership. None of these points raised seem to be taken into consideration, Everlast just keep referring to the email they sent in March. It was Everlast that has changed the service provided to me from when I first took out my membership and I have never confirmed I was happy to transfer my membership to the Gateshead gym or sign another contract since they changed the service. All Everlast would need to do is check my membership to see how many times I have clocked into to the gym since the Byker closed to see the alternative locations they offered are unacceptable for myself. STAY CLEAR OF THIS GYM GROUP!!!!

Positive experience: Huge state of the art gym, full of cardio and weights equipment. Their fitness classes are amazing and you can really work up a sweat. You can tell it's really popular as it is always full of other gym-goers. The changing rooms are quite clean, showers smell a little but I guess that's a given. Love love love the sauna, but the men's chill tubs have been out of order for about 2 months now: When are they getting sorted out? A nice variety of food and drinks are sold, the protein shakes need a bit of work to be honest - the one I had wasn't blended well, stodgy and clumpy. A good gym, but there's room for improvement

Lee W 1 year ago

Negative experience: When I first joined here it was a brilliant gym. Had everything you needed including great equipment, sauna and ice baths (Which WERE clean). Now, the gym still has the same equipment which is poorly maintained, the shower area is absolutely filthy and the ice baths, I'm sure, have not been cleaned yet. For the location of this gym and considering it is the Everlast "Flagship" gym, it really is absolutely horrendous. Fellow members just leave their weights anywhere and nothing is said from staff who clearly aren't bothered. I'll see out my membership and leave. Probably will go elsewhere beforehand. Terrible.

Jayden Smith 1 year ago

Negative experience: Joined this gym and all was good. Nice facilities. However staff at front desk are rarely helpful and have very limited knowledge of everything. Not only this but no one seems to be in charge or have answers? Can tell it’s an Ashley gym Not only this but you won’t let me leave my contract despite my journey going from 15 minutes to 45 minutes because of the tyne bridge closure. Extremely poor customer service and good luck getting the £80 I owe as I haven’t been in months. Me and numerous friends share this opinion. Better luck next time Everlast. Better customer service from a PureGym live chat robot Saying that the ice baths are mint

Negative experience: I wouldn't even give it 1 star if I didnt have to. Did you know 'multi-gym access, champion membership' does not actually give access to multiple everlast gyms?! Their staff happily signed me up for a second membership, saying my original membership wasn't active, then proceed to charge me for both!! Management are not willing to investigate to find out why I was mis-sold. I wouldn't recommend this company, customer service is appalling. Absolute scam artists. I've contacted management team and 26 emails later my complaint is still not resolved.

Fantastic experience: I was served by Kelsey, lovely customer service and very kind and helpful. This Gym is absolutely amazing! Please bring one to Teesside there are two Sports Direct buildings large enough to facilitate this space, I will even chip in with some free labour and do some painting haha. For £30 a month this Gym is unbelievable! The high end aesthetics, the lighting, the branding, machines and functional training areas. Just perfect. To finish it all the Ice baths and the sauna in the changing rooms! I wish this was closer to home, nevertheless I will be back here again. If I was to be super critical and very transparent the changing rooms and showers where a little messy and seemed neglected (broken hanger and lost sock left on floor throughout visit duration) very minute critic but an overall quality experience! Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Stunning gym, great kit, spacious and I haven't seen it too busy yet (even at peak times). Showers and changing rooms seem pretty clean, no complaints at all! Shout out to Jessica for the sign up and welcome! Cheers!

Fantastic experience: Very good Gym and great classes with good instructors and members are pleasant . I see some people leaving phones and keys lying around and hand stuff in when missing which is great to see . Showers/ changing room cleanliness has improved lately but that and empty shower soap dispensers which could be refilled more regularly . However in all honesty I can’t remember any of the 20+ gyms I’ve been member of having spotlessly clean showers . Let’s just hope they concentrate efforts here . It’s still a great gym and parking is easier than you think. 0615 classes are great for those starting work early . I’m hoping they try to organise a gym night out because of the amount of decent people there !

Steve B 1 year ago

Positive experience: The gym needs to get a grip on people using lockers without a padlock having to open 20 different ones before finding a free one. Also loads of people bringing bags and coats into the gym rather than using the lockers. Never known anything like it, stuff everywhere in front of machines in walkways etc definitely going to cause an accident at some point. Last thing is inside the male showers don’t think the doors have been cleaned since it opened. Apart from that it’s decent.

Greg Steele 1 year ago

Positive experience: From working and helping run, one of the biggest and the best facilities in the country, this is my review. The gym itself- magic. Nautilus gear is up there with good kit, and plenty of it. Could do with another pec dec, and possibly another preacher curl as they are consistently busy bits of kit. All good. Some kit - (cables/ smith machines) need maintained. They have to be regularly checked as cables can snap at any point from abuse and i can tell you alot of the runners need oiled. Nearly all the narrow cable stack/lat pulldown runners are sticky and the smith machines aswell. I get its hard to police a gym (trust me i know this first hand)- but some people take the mick with leaving plates loaded up/ stacked against machines, DB’s just lying on the floor and the racks a mess, the KG labels need to be put on so folk dont just throw em anywhere. Outside this - pretty good gym especially for price, i enjoy it, has a great vibe / music always. Downfalls - as plenty reviews above, hygiene. Changing room/sauna/showers/ icebaths. The icebaths water is cloudy and full of dirt it’s absolutely horrendous- both sauna and icebaths aren’t my thing but would love to essentially have the option there to use it but as it stands at the moment personally and can see/ heard from others… they wont either as the hygiene standards of them is shocking. Its a massive selling point for this gym having both of them, when really this is a huge let down. Showers - wouldnt go anywhere near them. Smell. Even the water fountain has mould in the sink base. If a mystery shopper was to appear in here (we had them very often at the other facility to ensure staff kept on top of their game) they would have an absolute field day with all this, especially if said person was anything to do with HSE hygiene standards. I train here fulltime now as its closer to my home. This review is based on constructive feedback and NOT a bad review as such, as i want to see this place thrive and do well, for both myself and other members. Coming from the facility i helped run for a long time with super high standards - if anything id be happy to offer advice to keep members happy as some of the reviews recently are starting to reflect above. Also - the weekend closing times on the door leading to the carpark are wrong. Regards.

Negative experience: The gym looks great, there's just mounting issues that are slowly killing it. The changing rooms and saunas absolutely stink. I expect a bit of a smell, but this is just disgusting. They've completely oversold membership, so weekdays between 4pm and 10pm its almost a waste of time coming in. People just leave equipment anywhere and everywhere, so its sometimes hard to get matching dumbells or plates. Its also not as big as made out, about a quater of the floor space is for the reception/seating area. Could be a great gym, it just needs cleaning and hygeine to improve and a look at the numbers coming in.

Positive experience: The gym and fitness equipment is great and what you would expect in modern gyms. I had to mention to the manager that the shower area and sauna stinks. The cleanliness needs to be addressed from a hygiene and health and safety perspective. Hopefully they will address it, as it would be a shame to bring the overall gym experience down. Wasn’t going to mention it, but it has been like this for a number of weeks in the male shower/sauna area.

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! You get a 3 day free pass + It only cost £5 for your first month after that and then Feb & March it is half price those 2 months if you go through there website. The North East has been crying for a gym of this spec for years and they have finally delivered!

Negative experience: Doesn’t this gym look nice….yet we are served an old, dirty, poorly maintained changing area and aging equipment gym in Swindon. Oh not to mention the closure of the Sports Direct underneath too.

Positive experience: I have been attending this gym for about a month now. Cannot complain for the price I pay in all honesty. Yes its busy, yes the changing rooms aren’t always clean and tidy, but the facilities are good, plenty of room and plenty of weights for everyone to use. My biggest concern and complaint is the ice bath’s; they are extremely dirty and I wouldn’t use them at all. Other than that, staff are nice and pretty helpful.

Fantastic experience: Not really that much of a gym lad but heard of this new gym through all the social media campaigns and thought I’d give it a go. Rocked up and the lad called Josh at the front talked to me about the gym and really calmed some gym anxiety. Helped me with a day pass and showed me what’s what. Will 100% be returning and if anyone has any queries or concerns about the gym, just go and speak to Josh!

Fantastic experience: Brand spanking new gym, great facilities, loads of equipment, and often multiple machines available for exercise type. Clean, good shower, and changing facilities. Ice bath and sauna available. Friendly knowledgeable staff and highly competitive membership prices. Plenty of PT led classes and huge boxing training areas, including a boxing ring! Just wish it was closer to home hahaha

Positive experience: Nice clean environment. Only negative the screens above the tredmils should be playing something rather than just a sideshow of the staff.

Fantastic experience: Best gym I've ever been to in my 13 years of going to a gym. 10 power racks in 1 gym and each one with its own mirror!! Amazing amount of top quality equipment. Even at 'busier' times still so much space and equipment I've never had to wait for anything. I really hope the gym stays maintained over time as it looks great and all equipment is brand new and everything works as it should.

Positive experience: Really good gym. Great equipment. Staff are friendly. A broad mix of people with a good atmosphere. Although a gym towel is encouraged, some paper towels could be good. Gets busy at the usual times but always equipment/machines free.

Fantastic experience: I think the whole of Newcastle/Gateshead has been waiting a long time for a gym like this. High quality training equipment and plenty of it, along with a good recovery set up (Ice baths and sauna), immaculately clean and tidy and a nice friendly atmosphere!

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff very friendly and approachable. The cleanliness is well upheld along with a vast amount of equipment for everyone to use definitely will continue to recommend friends and family for to use this gym. Only downside I would say if weekend closing at 6pm bit early hopefully in future it will be extended.
