Lea Marston Hotel: Opinions
Negative experience: Me and girlfriend visited for a Spa day on her birthday and although the massage was 5 everything else was a disappointment, the pool is really small and there was virtually no room to actually swim at all, the package we bought provided refreshments throughout the day but every time we visited the relaxation room there were no pastries at all so by the time we sat down for our lunch we were both really hungry, then they messed up my order and sent the wrong meal out so I had to sit and watch my partner eat her food while mine was prepared which I finally got 50 mins after we initially sat down, all in all a very disappointing experience and I seriously doubt I'll be returning any time soon
Positive experience: Our hotel room had a damaged ceiling on arrival but we were relocated quickly. Our spa treatments were amazing and highly recommended but there are not many beds poolside to relax if you are visiting for a full spa day experience. We were unable to relax after our treatments so had to go back to our room early. Food & service was lovely in the restaurant for lunch and dinner. Breakfast had a good selection of options too.
Dear Thomas, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the issue with your initial room but are glad our team was able to relocate you quickly. It’s wonderful to know that you enjoyed your spa treatments and found them highly recommended! We appreciate your comments about the availability of poolside beds, and we will take this into consideration to enhance our guests' relaxation experience. We’re also delighted that you enjoyed your dining experiences with us, from lunch and dinner to the breakfast selection. Your kind words about our food and service mean a lot to our team! We hope to welcome you back in the future for an even more relaxing stay. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: I booked a spa day via spa breaks and it was amazing. The customer service was excellent and the food was great . I’d definitely recommend.
Dear Winifred, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had an amazing spa day with us and that you enjoyed our excellent customer service and delicious food. Your kind words mean the world to our team, and we’re so glad we could make your visit special. Thank you for recommending us – we truly appreciate it and hope to welcome you back for another relaxing day soon! Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Almost seemed that the 4 star rating of the hotel were taken out of a sticker book. On arrival, we have checked in very smoothly and were able to find our room. At first glance the room seemed tidy and looked rather nice until we’ve spotted what seemed like a print of someone’s bottom on the wall next to the wardrobe. Later we went to get our nails done and I’m afraid our experience went down hill from there. While the back massage was very relaxing the manicures and pedicures did not go as planned. The ladies that were doing it seemed lovely however the dark light in the area made it very difficult to see the nail varnish colours for what they are. I have picked what I thought was a warm nude colour and once it was on my toes the lady had asked what I thought and I was unable to see the colour due to the darkness of the room. I had to pull up the torch light to see properly and what I saw was what could only be described as a highlighter orange. Luckily I was able to switch the colour for my manicure we have asked several times if it would be possible to turn on the light but the ladies have advised that they are used to working in these conditions, unfortunately the varnish had never completely set and was extremely sticky pick up the fibres from all over the place, I guess the products may have gone out of date. In general the place looks nice but all the rooms are extremely lacking in lighting fixtures. And I wouldn’t recommend getting the manicures/pedicures
Dear Ewa, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. While we’re glad to hear that your check-in process was smooth and that you enjoyed the relaxing back massage, we’re sorry that your experience didn’t meet expectations in other areas. We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered in your room and during your manicure and pedicure. The detail about the wall in your room is certainly concerning, and we will ensure this is addressed with our housekeeping team immediately. Regarding the lighting in the spa area, we completely understand how this would impact your experience, especially when selecting nail colours. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll work with our spa team to evaluate and improve the lighting to create a more comfortable and practical environment for our guests. We’ll also review the products being used to ensure they’re of the highest quality. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. We value your feedback and will use it to make the necessary improvements. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: A very enjoyable spa experience, food was very good. Staff friendly and kind.
Dear Gwendoline, Thank you for your lovely feedback! We’re delighted to hear you had such an enjoyable spa experience and that you found the food to be very good. It’s also wonderful to know our team left a positive impression with their friendliness and kindness. We hope to welcome you back soon for another relaxing visit! Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: I do not usually write a review, but felt so disappointed on this occasion, I felt it completely necessary. I have attended and arranged numerous venues at the Lea Marston Hotel and always been really satisfied with the location and service provided, that was until yesterday, 30 December 2024. My partner had booked an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast for us both. On the morning my partner was really unwell with a sickness bug so I contacted Lea Marston Hotel to explain the situation and rearrange, it was obvious he was too unwell to go. I was told that all they could do was change the name on the booking after seeking advice from the manager. I again explained that it was a totally unavoidable situation, and that we wanted to attend but my partner was ill. I was then informed that they could not rearrange but could offer room service! Not really acceptable and very disappointing from a hotel I would have always recommended. I sadly will not be returning.
Negative experience: Shower does not drain so you stand in your own dirt. Shower head does not stay in its holder, keeps falling down. Room so dark we couldn't see in our suitcases. Drunk people walking around banging bottles talking loud at 01:30am! Terrible rubber fried eggs at breakfast. Bacon so hard it could not be cut with a knife. I could carry on but I'll let you go see for yourselves. The people in this country have got really low standards. Rather pay half the price at a travelodge or premier inn. Thank God it was only one night.
Dear Tony, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered during your stay. This is not the standard of experience we aim to provide, and we deeply regret that we fell short of your expectations. Drainage Issue: We understand how frustrating it can be to have a shower that does not drain properly. Please rest assured we are addressing this matter with our maintenance team to ensure it is resolved. Shower Holder: We will inspect and repair the shower holder in your room promptly to prevent this from happening again. Lighting Concerns: We are reviewing the lighting setup in the rooms and exploring ways to improve brightness for our guests' comfort. Noise Disturbances: We apologise for the disruption caused by other guests. Our team is working to better enforce quiet hours to ensure a peaceful environment for everyone. Breakfast Quality: We take your feedback on board and will review our breakfast offerings with the kitchen team to ensure higher quality and better consistency. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we appreciate your honesty. We are committed to making the necessary changes to deliver a better experience for all our guests. Thank you again for your review, and we hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Pity about the over zealous doorman. They need to remember that trying to bite guests is not part of the SIA license and they should have their licenses revoked. Wouldn’t last 5 minutes up North.
Dear Jamie, Thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We take all feedback very seriously and are deeply troubled by the issues you’ve described during your visit. Please allow us to address your concerns: Doorman Conduct: We are shocked and concerned by your account of the doorman's behaviour. This is completely unacceptable and not reflective of the standards we uphold. We are investigating this matter thoroughly, and appropriate action will be taken to ensure such behaviour does not occur again. Duty Manager Support: We regret that you felt the duty manager was out of his depth. We will review this feedback with our team and provide further training to ensure all managers are prepared to handle any situation confidently and professionally. Bar Service: We appreciate your comments about the bar service. We will work with our team to improve the speed and quality of service, including training on properly pouring Guinness to ensure our guests enjoy a consistently excellent experience. We deeply regret that your visit did not meet your expectations, and are very sorry. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager Best regards,
Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our stay this weekend. Hotel staff were kind and helped us out after getting caught in the rain with extra towels. Whilst the food wasn't fine dining - more pub style, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and were never left hungry (on the contrary - really full!) The spa facilities were good and we found ourselves feeling really relaxed after a stay there. Lots of folks were really friendly. There were a couple of Xmas parties on that were busy but we both slept well despite going to bed early. Both slept well in a huge bed with blackout curtains meaning not only did we go to bed early but we also slept late! Thankfully breakfast was still going and we enjoyed local stuff like Tamworth and Kingsbury Water Park. Were so grateful to be able to bring our dog, meaning we didn't have to worry about her. And the room was plenty big enough to have her bed set up too. She was welcome in the bar and pub. Not in the breakfast bar, understandably, but you can take your meal into the bar. Perfect. Small suggestions for improvements would be: Another coffee machine at breakfast. Queues were long and the machine was slow. Also we certainly would have spent a bit more behind the bar if the price was more reasonable. Drinks were very expensive. But this isn't unusual for a hotel. Thanks again.
Dear Jitterbug, Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that our team could assist you after your unexpected rain adventure—it’s wonderful to know those extra towels came in handy! It’s great to hear that you appreciated the hearty, pub-style meals and left feeling well-fed. We’re also thrilled that you enjoyed our spa facilities and found the atmosphere relaxing. Your comments about the friendly guests and overall environment truly make us smile. We’re glad the Christmas parties didn’t disturb your rest and that you slept well in our comfortable beds with blackout curtains. It’s lovely to hear you could enjoy a late start without missing breakfast and that the local touches like Tamworth and Kingsbury Water Park added to your experience. We’re especially pleased to know your furry friend was able to join you and that you found our facilities accommodating for her. We love welcoming pets and are glad this made your stay more enjoyable. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated—adding another coffee machine at breakfast and reviewing bar pricing are both excellent points, and we’ll be sharing them with our team for consideration. Thank you again for staying with us and for your kind review. We hope to welcome you (and your dog!) back for another wonderful visit soon. Warmest regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Stayed in the hotel, for an event, with my husband and daughter. Food was very basic, dry pork and chicken. Very tasteless. Breakfast was, again, very basic although the breakfast room was pleasent and comfortable and staff was very helpful. Our bedroom was a family room at a cost of £147. The room is not worth the price. The room was clean. But the facilities were very poor. We were in a family room, 3 people, we got two cups and two glasses. One night table between 3, had to used the chair from the dressing table as a night table. One small pot of shampoo and one small pot of shower gel for three people. When booking we were told that we could use the spa facilities. When we went to the spa we were told that our room, again priced at £147, didn't allow us to have a dressing gown. We had to pay and extra £5 each! Once we got in the changing rooms it looked like we step back on time. The changing room was dated and not very cleaned. When we went into the pool area it didn't looked any better. We had to leave our towels on the wall as there are not hooks in the wall to enable people to hang their towels. The water in the pool looked very dirty and after hesitating got in with my daughter. Started swimming and felt something on my arm. There was a roll of hair tangled to my arm. I could not believe it and felt very angry with myself as I I knew it didn't look clean.
Dear Yolanda, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed experience with us. We’re truly sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations and that several aspects of your visit left you feeling disappointed. Please allow us to address your concerns. We regret that the food did not meet your satisfaction, as we aim to provide meals that are both enjoyable and high-quality. Your feedback regarding the taste and variety will be shared with our Kitchen team to ensure improvements are made. Regarding your family room, we’re sorry the facilities fell short of expectations, particularly with the provisions for three guests. It’s clear we need to review our room setup to ensure it better accommodates families. We also understand how the additional charge for dressing gowns and the condition of the spa facilities impacted your experience. Cleanliness is a top priority, and we’re very concerned about your comments on the pool area. These issues will be escalated to our maintenance and housekeeping teams for immediate review and resolution. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we sincerely apologise for the inconveniences you faced. We hope you’ll give us another chance to provide you with the high standard of service and comfort that we strive to deliver. Thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Played pitch and putt, nice little course.. 9 hole, so play same holes twice for an 18 round. Could do with some next tee this way signs as has a difficult layout, or at least a map with the score paper.
Dear Andy Thank you for your review. I have passed your comments onto our Golf shop Manager to look into offering maps in future. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Had a really great stay this weekend at Lea Marston's. I did read reviews prior but I didn't have any of the issues others had. All the staff we came in to contact with were so friendly and happy to help. Our room was lovely and spacious, with comfortable bed too. We came for a spa break and there weren't any robes in the room but a quick trip to reception and that was sorted. The treatments in the spa were amazing, I'd never had a massage before so was a bit nervous but my therapist was great and made me feel at ease. We had an evening meal booked in the restaurant ,which was really good and staff again were great. We struggled to find it as it isn't well signposted so ended up on Hathaways pub but the staff there guided us to where we needed to be. We didn't have a drink there but the bar area looked really nice. Only couple of downsides were, a few loud guests in the early hours waking us up (not the hotel's fault) but walls are quite thin. We also used the leisure activities as soon as it opened Sunday morning (8am) but the pool isn't very big if you're actually wanting to swim lengths. There were already 4 people in there swimming, and although it doesn't sound like many people, you can't really fit many more if you're wanting to swim the length of the pool, which I can imagine coming later in the day would be very tricky as it isn't wide enough. The spa bath /Jacuzzi was nice and steam room and sauna also were good. Would've liked to do more swimming but the pool isn't big enough really. Overall, a fantastic stay and would recommend to others. Great staff, everywhere clean and tidy, good food and good value. Thank you!
Dear Kristina, Thank you for your fantastic feedback! We're thrilled to hear you had such a great stay and enjoyed the spa, treatments, and the friendly service from our team. We’re also happy to know your room was comfortable and that we were able to sort out the robes for you quickly. We apologise for any disturbance caused by other guests and the pool size not meeting your expectations for swimming lengths. We’ll take this into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for recommending us, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for another enjoyable visit! Warmest regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: We had a meeting room there for a wake. Food was good as was the service from the staff.
Dear Ellenor, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are happy that the team were able to assist you on such a difficult day. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Went to the hotel for a conference. Quite old and looks like an update is required not to change the character but to update wear and tear. Rather unpleasant odour from some parts of the hotel, but fit for purpose in terms of event area. Did not stay at the hotel, went 20 minutes away to outstanding hotel.
Dear LilHel, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad our event area met your needs, but we’re sorry to hear that some areas showed signs of wear. We're actively exploring updates to enhance comfort while preserving the hotel’s character. Your comments are invaluable, and we hope to offer an improved experience in the future. Thank you for joining us for your conference. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: How hard can it be to book a massage here? IMPOSSIBLE. Unbelievably shocking communication. For 3 days, I have been trying to book a massage and facial. It has been literally IMPOSSIBLE to get through via phone or email. When I got through, twice they said they'll call me back but nothing. Is this what a "4 star" experience is like? If you cannot get this right, what does that say about everything else??
Hi Sony, I would like to sincerely apologise for the poor service you have received. Please contact [email protected] and our Health Club and Spa Manager is awaiting your email. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Recently had our wedding here and it could not have gone better. Thank you to Sam, Ellie and everyone else that I haven't mentioned. This was the perfect wedding destination.
Dear Guest, Congratulation to you on your recent Wedding. We are so happy you had such a good time. Thank you for your kind words, Sam and Ellie will be really pleased. We wish you lots of love and happiness for your future together. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Unfortunately the hotel is really not up to scratch. I had a deluxe room and whilst the sheets were clean the actual touch surfaces were very dirty. I could actually scratch through the grime with my nails. Everything felt sticky. The pillows were completely flat and lumpy. There was a hairband from previous occupants in the bathroom. The tap had thick makeup/grime on it. The tassimo coffee machine had mould in the water compartment. I stayed 2 nights and after my first nights shower I put the towels on the floor by the door. When I came out of the shower the second night I discovered housekeeping had put those wet, dirty towels back on the towel rail. I'd cleaned the coffee machine and housekeeping had left the dirty cup and spoon on the side and not refilled the single pod. The spa area was filthy. Staff were standing around chatting. The ordered one meal. The burger was burnt and cold, the coleslaw inedible. There were no barstaff around to tell. I paid for breakfast for both mornings but only had it one morning. It was fine but staff were overwhelmed with not many people. There were long queues for coffee and random bits of breakfast (so there sausages and hash browns available but a 10 min wait for eggs and bacon). And then no coffee cups and searching for staff to get fresh milk. I was there for an event elsewhere and I really didn't have a lot of time and each time I didn't have energy/time to complain and get it rectified. I would normally - I considered finding a new hotel Friday night but I had had a long drive it was gone 9pm and I was exhausted. When I went to check out I went through with the desk stuff the issues and they agreed and deducted 20% off the bill. I decided to leave a review that's negative despite the deduction because I was really torn about where to book before the event and I just wanted it to be easy. Honestly didn't care how much it cost. It was a shame. All the staff I had interactions with were friendly and as helpful as they could be within their remit.
Dear Georgia, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, and we’re truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered during your stay. While we’re glad to know our team was friendly and tried to assist, it’s clear that we fell short in other areas, and for that, we sincerely apologise. Cleanliness is a fundamental aspect of our service, and it’s disappointing to learn that the room and spa area were not up to standard. The condition of the touch surfaces, the towels being reused, and the coffee machine situation are completely unacceptable, and we will be investigating this with our housekeeping team immediately to ensure such oversights don’t happen again. Your feedback regarding the maintenance of the room and the spa area will help us address these issues swiftly. We’re also sorry to hear about the quality of your meal and your breakfast experience. Long waits for key items and the lack of coffee cups should never happen, and we will work to ensure our team is better prepared, even during busy times. While we did apply a discount to your bill, we understand this didn’t fully make up for the overall disappointment during your stay. Your comments will help us make improvements, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide a much better experience if you ever consider staying with us again. Thank you again for your feedback, and we deeply regret that we let you down during your visit. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Great hotel , lovely friendly helpful staff. I held my annual charity ball here in the Perry Barton suite. From the moment i met Sam Coles in event team I knew it would be a succes. Nothing was too much trouble for her.The food was lovely, waiting and bar staff were great, Ellie and Shona were very helpful through the day when setting up. Again nothing was too much trouble. Charlotte on the bar was fabulous too. Our double room was clean and comfortable, overall it was great. Big car park too. Thankyou to everyone.
Dear Marie, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that your annual charity ball was a success and that you had such a positive experience with us. It’s fantastic to know that Sam and the events team made sure everything went smoothly from the moment you started planning. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to Sam, Ellie, Charlotte, and myself - thank you, who will be thrilled to know they helped make your event special. We’re also glad that you found your room comfortable and enjoyed the food, service, and convenience of our big car park. Thank you for choosing us to host such an important event, and we hope to welcome you back again soon! Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Kinda needs an update. Rooms are a tad tired. Rooms are clean and tidy, just need a update.
Dear Craig, Thank you for your comments. Please be assured we take all feedback on board and use this to improve our guest journey with us. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: We stay for three nights with some friends. We all have kids age 9, 13 and 15. Very dated hotel, carpet in the roon stained, room overroll clean. Used the pool one time, the kids has restricted hrs from 9.30 -11.00 am and 4.00 - 6.00pm. I find it weird hours not practical. Wasn't aware of this before booking, couldn't find this information easly, otherwise we have booked other hotel. Breakfast ok-ish , the coffee mashine very slow and at time out of order. There was a heavy rain on a Saturday evening and water leaking like a shower from the roof at the reception and at the conservatory/ entrance of the onsite pub. Overall wasn't a nice stay.
Dear Liliana, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it must have been to discover the restricted pool hours for children, we apologise for the inconvenience and the lack of clear communication about this beforehand. We will look into making this information more accessible to guests to avoid future confusion. We also regret to hear about the issues with the carpet, the slow coffee machine, and the unfortunate water leaks during the heavy rain. These are not the standards we aim for, and your comments have been passed on to both our maintenance and management teams for immediate attention. While it’s disappointing to hear that your stay wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been, we do appreciate your feedback. It helps us identify areas where we can improve and ensure a better experience for future guests. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Room stink of smoke , breakfast was cold . We had a double fire door out side our room restricting our access and frankly not really acceptable with a pram . There was a wedding function on that kept us up most of the night . The mouse there was awful . Very overpriced and under expectations Room 11 ! You really need to sort the door out outside Also no back of the tv remote ! You can’t charge premium prices for poor level
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m truly sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet your expectations. We sincerely apologise for the issues you encountered, from the smoke smell in your room to the cold breakfast, and especially the inconvenience caused by the double fire door outside your room. We understand how difficult this must have been, particularly with a pram. I’m also very sorry that the noise from the wedding function disturbed your stay. We do our best to manage events and ensure all guests enjoy a peaceful experience, and it’s clear that we fell short in this instance. Regarding the TV remote and the overall condition of your room, this is certainly not the level of quality we aim to provide. Please know that your concerns are being taken seriously, and we will address these issues promptly to ensure future guests do not encounter the same problems. Room 11 and the access issues you mentioned are also being reviewed by our team to find a suitable solution. I understand how disappointing this experience was for you, and I’d like to assure you that we are committed to making things right. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope we can welcome you back in the future.
Negative experience: Over priced for tatty outdated furnishings. Windows where broken in room. Carpets dirty not worth the price the room
Dear Celia, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for your room not being up to our usual standard. I have passed your feedback onto our Maintenance and Housekeeping teams to look into straight away. I would like to thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve on our guests experience with us. I really do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager

Fantastic experience: Myself and partner attend this spa to help with my health conditions. The staff are so kind, polite and welcoming. Please read my noteworthy comment. An I hope head office recognise the staff I have mentioned as it is because of them I have felt comfortable in returning.

Thank you once again for your heartfelt feedback. It means a lot to us to know that we could offer you some comfort and care. We look forward to welcoming you back and providing you with another positive experience. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: A 4-star hotel that's only worth 2 stars or below. I wanted to write this honest feedback not hoping the hotel will improve, as we won't visit again, but as a reference for those looking for a hotel in the Birmingham area. It's quite rare that I give such a low rating in my feedback. We originally booked for 1 night but decided to stay 2 nights to extend our trip in Birmingham. We tried to update our booking on the third party platform ; however, we could only make another booking (same hotel, same type of room, under the same customer name). We emailed the hotel to reconfirm our booking and ask if we could stay in the same room. After some back-and-forth, they said it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived for check-in, the staff failed to recognize our upfront request even though I told them we were staying for 2 nights. The staff didn't listen at all nor pay any attention. We noticed the hotel card had our departure date as the next day, so I went to reception to verify that we didn't need to move rooms but could stay in the same room for both nights. Overall, the reception staff was neither energetic nor proactive. They didn't share any information with us (swimming pool, breakfast area, etc.) – we had to ask for these details. It felt like a self-service hotel, though the staff in the breakfast area was welcoming, which is indeed standard. We enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna, and steam room. These facilities and the changing room were fine; however, the staff at the club was not helpful at all. Again, I had to ask for a towel in order to get one. The room was dated as shown in my photos, required renovation. Insulation was poor too we could hear noises along the corridor. We didn’t have a good sleep for the first night however fine for the second night. A positive note: Plenty of parking space.
Dear Veni, Thank you for taking the time to provide your detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about the various issues you encountered during your stay. We apologise for the confusion and inconvenience regarding your extended booking. It is clear that our communication and service fell short of expectations. We will address this with our team to prevent similar issues in the future. We are also sorry to hear about your experience with our reception team. Providing an informative and welcoming experience is our priority, and we regret that this was not reflected during your stay. We will ensure that our team receive the necessary training to improve their attentiveness and proactivity. While we are pleased that you enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna, and steam room, we regret that the service at the club did not meet your expectations. Your feedback will be shared with the relevant departments to improve our guest experience. We acknowledge your comments about the room's condition and noise insulation. Thank you again for your feedback. While we regret that we did not meet your expectations, we hope you had some enjoyable moments in Birmingham. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Most staffs are friendly and helpful, from check-in (we arrived so late almsot midnight), over the breakfast to the swimming pool area, even until I checked out. However, I must address about the duty manager was unacceptably rude when we checked out. After I paid for late check out at 12pm. I told both of the staffs one of the duvets we used was dirty with some marks on and I showed them the picture. The male staff apologised right away but what I got from the duty manager was just a reply of "okay! " twice with a pair of staring eyes. I was shocked and speechless to be honest. Then I asked some parking info in town from the male staff in our language as I know that we came from the same city. At the end of the conversation I said thank you in English to him as well as the duty manager. The manager immediately tried to make fun and mimic our language with a funny face. I never imagined that I would experience of being racist like that in the hotel, with my daughter just next to me. People travel from all over the world to a hotel for getaway and holidays, staffs should be trained to welcome and respect other cultures and languages. I had stayed in many different kind of hotels, but never have any experience of racism. We drove 3 hours to Birmingham for the weekend and It was a perfect getaway with my family until the racism happened. It was extremely disrespectful and not acceptable. Even my daughter knows how to respect people who speaks in different languages. I genuinely think the hotel needs to take this matter seriously and investigate about it. Zero tolerance for racism is a must.
Dear Sophie, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We are pleased to hear that most of our team were friendly and helpful, providing you with a warm welcome and great service throughout your stay. However, I am deeply sorry to learn about your experience with our duty manager during check-out. The behaviour you described is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the values and standards we uphold at our hotel. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any distress this incident caused you and your daughter. We take allegations like this very seriously. I assure you that we are conducting a thorough investigation into this matter, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such behaviour is not repeated. We deeply regret that this incident marred what was otherwise a perfect getaway with your family. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we strive to improve our services and ensure a welcoming and respectful environment for all our guests. Once again, we apologise for your experience and thank you for bringing this serious issue to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the exceptional service that you deserve. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Had a brilliant weekend stay for my 21st birthday! The staff were so lovely, both in the hotel and spa!! We were even given free shots for the table in the lounge and complimentary drinks & pastries in the spa for my birthday!! Thanks for such a great weekend :)

Fantastic experience: I had a brilliant time at The Lea Marston Hotel. The golf course was well kept and the spa area was very nice. Would definitely come back.
Dear Jack, Thank you for sharing your positive review! We are delighted to hear that you had a brilliant time with us. It’s wonderful to know that you enjoyed our well-kept golf course and found the spa area to be very nice. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable stay. Kind reards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Very good place next to the golf course with a really good spa and gym. The view from the windows are very nice as well as the restaurant pub and breakfast. Gr8.
Dear Tim, Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's great to know that you appreciated our proximity to the golf course, as well as our spa and gym facilities. We’re also pleased that you enjoyed the views from your windows and had a pleasant experience at our restaurant and pub, including breakfast. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Went for my mothers and aunts birthday weekend. It was a nice place, a decent room - nothing too special. It was absolutely freezing, even though it was mid-June. We asked if the radiators could be turned on, which they couldn't, but they gave us a portable heater that was on all night and day. The shower was good, but really short! I'm about 5ft 5, and it was just about right for me, I can't imagine someone 6 ft fitting in there, haha. The staff were really nice, they let us check in early to leave our stuff and they were very polite and thoughtful. They even wished my mother and aunt a happy birthday. We had the spa package, which included a 15-minute session each. My aunt had a really lovely masseuse who was very thorough. Mine was nice and my mum's was good too. The pool area was decent, but we left early on the second day because a lot of people joined for a wedding, and it got full quickly. There were 2 saunas, one dry, one wet, which were nice. The food was mediocre. The breakfast selection was modest - your classic english breakfast with a couple of pastries. The lunch selection was small and not the best, but it was included in our price. There's a lot of really good things to do in that area, and it's decently priced, which is why we chose this place. It's not bad, but it didn't stand out to us.
Dear Neda, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay with us. We are delighted to hear that you chose our establishment for your mother and aunt's birthday weekend and that you appreciated the early check-in and our teams politeness and thoughtfulness. We always strive to make special occasions memorable, and it's wonderful to know your family felt warmly welcomed. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the cold weather and the short shower. We understand how important comfort is and will certainly look into ways to improve our heating options and bathroom facilities to better accommodate our guests in the future. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the spa package and found the team to be thorough and pleasant. We regret that the pool area became crowded due to a wedding party and will consider ways to manage such situations better to ensure all our guests can enjoy the amenities. We appreciate your honest feedback regarding the food. We continually aim to enhance our dining options and will take your comments into consideration as we look to improve our breakfast and lunch selections. Thank you for highlighting the enjoyable activities in the area and the value of our pricing. We hope that despite the areas for improvement, you had a pleasant overall experience. We would love the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better stay. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Didn't stay, went for a round of golf and a coffee with friends. The golf course is very well maintained and compact. It has lots of trees which are helpful for bouncing the ball off and keeping it in play. Occasionally a tree would get in the way but I suspect this is more down to me being a very poor golfist and not the fault of the tree or the golf course planner. Staff were very friendly and it was a good morning out. Will go again.
Dear Ross, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed a round of golf and a coffee with friends. It's wonderful to know that you found our golf course well-maintained and appreciated the unique features of our layout. Trees can indeed add a fun and challenging aspect to the game! Your sense of humor about your golfing skills brought a smile to our faces. We also appreciate your kind words about our team. We strive to provide a friendly and welcoming environment for all our guests, and we're pleased that you had a good morning out. We're looking forward to welcoming you back for another enjoyable round of golf soon! Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Short stay for my partner for a training course, nice a d comfortable. Nice location. Staff were lovely. Food very nice.
Dear Krish, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay with us. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and found the team to be lovely. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: The positive. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Needs improvement. We arrived prior to checkin so ordered something for lunch. We ordered a ham sandwich, which to be honest would have been of higher quality if we had bought one from a local garage. The bread was clearly just a supermarket thin white loaf, with a slice of prepacked watery ham. My chicken burger and chips were good. The room was looking tired, could only open one window, with the rubber seal coming away on the other window and both looking as though they needed replacing. The mattress and pillows were extremly firm. The bathroom had really poor ventilation. We were near the fire door which when open impeded the entryway to our room. Breakfast was self serve hot and cold with a good selection. Really liked the pastries. They need another coffee machine, although the coffee was good, there was a queue at 8.30am . I can't comment on the spa facilities as we didn't use them. Overall, I do feel that they are relying on 4 stars for the spa and golf etc facilities. I would not recommend staying overnight. Not worth the £160 we paid for one night. Sadly, would not return. The hotel building/facilities really let the staff down here.
Dear Sharon, Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found our team friendly and helpful. However, we regret that your overall experience did not meet your expectations. We apologise for the quality of the ham sandwich you received upon arrival. Your comments regarding the bread and ham have been noted, and we will review this with our kitchen team to ensure improvements are made. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your chicken burger and chips. We appreciate your observations regarding the room. These will be passed on to our House keeping Manager We also apologise for the inconvenience caused by the fire door near your room. Your feedback is valuable, and we will look into ways to address this concern. Regarding breakfast, we are pleased you enjoyed the selection and pastries. We acknowledge the need for an additional coffee machine and will consider this for future improvements. We regret that you did not have the opportunity to use our spa facilities, as they are often a highlight for many of our guests. Your feedback about the overall value and overnight stay experience is important to us. We are committed to improving our services and facilities and hope you might reconsider and give us another opportunity in the future. Thank you again for your constructive feedback. We aim to provide a better experience for all our guests and will use your comments to help us achieve this. Kind regards Shona
Fantastic experience: We had my daughters communion there on on Saturday and i was so happy with everything, the events manager Sam Coles went the extra mile for us and nothing was too much trouble, we had a large sit down meal for 117 and all the food was served within minutes of each other and lovely and hot. The staff were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our hotel rooms were lovely and everything was very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to hold an event, we will definitely be back.
Dear Veronica, Thank you for your amazing review. We are so happy you all had such a good day. I have passed your thanks on to Sam and everyone else that looked after you all. We can't wait to help you celebrate more events in the future. Kind regards
Negative experience: We had booked a spa day for the 10 of us for my auntie’s 50th birthday on 25/05/24. The pictures online made the hotel/spa a lot more modern than it really was. We had afternoon tea booked at 1pm the staff were not attentive at all and there was a mix up with dietary requirements which caused a of stress and to add on top of that, we decided to order 4-5 portions of chips as we were very hungry as the service was so slow and to our surprise each portion costed £5 which were the size of a pencil holder, absolutely ridiculous. Everything was going decently until 3pm where the electricity cut out baring in mind there was a wedding scheduled that day in the hotel. This had meant, gym was not working, pool facilities were unable to be used due to the chlorine pump not working & none of the showers were working. This had meant a group of 4 drove back to their home in Birmingham to shower as we had dinner booked at 6pm elsewhere. We booked a body and face blitz which spa breaks promised a massage and facial as we were a large group therefore not everyone could have massages as the main treatment. To our disappointment it was just a body scrub and facial but doesn’t counteract the fact that the last 2 women did not get the full treatment experience, we had paid £100pp for them to get some moisturiser slapped onto their bodies because the “facial” treatments were getting hard due to the warmers not working. Honestly it was such a disappointing day despite it was supposed to be a celebration for my aunties 50th. We left not feeling relaxed nor showered. We wasted a lot of money coming to a spa/hotel that promised a lot but in reality we should have spent more money and gone to somewhere where we know the quality of service would have been a lot better. The main person who had booked this spa day has been in contact with spabreaks (as we booked through them) and also Lee Marston. We still have not had a response back from spa breaks, but to our surprise but not shocked, this is the response from the actual hotel, Lee Marston itself: “Please advise me when spabreaks reply as you paid through a 3rd party it is their responsibility to deal with this” Absolute joke of a spa/hotel, customer service is awful. Avoid at all costs.
Fantastic experience: Had an absolutely wonderful time at a wedding we attended here recently. There was a power cut that affected the whole area and they handled this very professionally. Rooms, food, facilities, everything was perfect. Thank you to the Bride and Groom for choosing such a lovely venue. Wishing you a long and happy marriage ❤️ ❤️
Dear Lesley, Thank you so much for such a lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and had an enjoyable time at the wedding. Congratulations to the Happy Couple! We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Went to the spa, had a great experience with my girlfriend on our anniversary. The facilities are extremely well kept and the staff are very attentive. Not too busy either. Only problem was the pool was unusable for an hour because of an aerobics class. We both had a 50 minute facial treatment, this was so relaxing that I fell asleep. But, I look atleast 5 years younger now
Dear Brads, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Happy Anniversary! We are so happy you both enjoyed your Spa Day, especially the facial. I think I might book in for the 5 years younger treatment myself!! We look forward to helping you celebrate more Anniversary's with us. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Stayed for weekend in May 24. Have stayed previously and disappointed to see that even though it was over a year ago the car park still looks like a minefield with more potholes than the M62. Before staying they try to convince you to add extras “upgrades”. I fell for the 6 beers & snacks (crisps) for £35 one. When entering the room we found 6 warm small Buds in a leaking beer bucket (water everywhere) and no crisps at all. The room had a musky smell and the window safety latches were broken (not good for a family room). The shower was shocking, about the same amount of water pressure as me trying to spit over myself. Went to the bar for dinner, ordered the overpriced currys and also the pie of the day. Was severed completely different pies and currys and when queried we were told that they had forgotten to change the blackboards. They refused to admit the currys were wrong even though it was obvious. It was at this point that we realised that there were about 10 different members of staff getting involved in our query yet none of them can change a blackboard. The hotel desperately needs maintenance and to fulfil what they advertise.
Dear A Young, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay with us. I am pleased to say the potholes are being repaired in June. I would like to apologise for the issues that arose during your stay as this is certainly not our usual level of service. Please be assured we take all feedback on board and use this to improve our guest experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Lea Marston were great hosts for the wedding fayre I attended. As a supplier I felt well looked after so I feel confident that they would do the same for their wedding clients. Sam organised the event really well and there was a great range of suppliers.
Dear Vanessa, What lovely feedback, thank you. We are so pleased you enjoyed the event and look forward to welcoming you to the next one. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Spent a few days here for a wedding nearby. Staff were friendly and service was great for the most part, except when it came to specific requests. A few people had to change rooms due to issues, or chose to stay in their rooms and live with said issues - ranging from TV’s not working, Fridges not working, and most annoyingly - keycards not working - even when kept separately from other cards / devices. If you’re staying in one of the rooms further from reception, the walk can become tiresome. We stayed in an Executive Double, and it was very well appointed and spacious. If you are able, the price difference is worth it from their standard rooms. Breakfast was far better than those received in pricier hotels, so points there. Great facilities on site and the live musician on the Friday night was stellar.
Dear Shane, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the friendly team, excellent service, and the well-appointed Executive Double room. It's great to know that you found our breakfast offerings superior to those in other hotels, and that you appreciated the facilities and live music on Friday night. We apologise for the issues you and other guests experienced with the TVs, fridges, and keycards. Your comments regarding these matters are very important to us, and we are addressing them to ensure a more seamless experience for our future guests. We also understand that the walk from the more distant rooms to the reception can be tiring, and we are exploring ways to make this more convenient. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future, providing an even better stay. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: I stayed last weekend, the customer service was amazing from every part of the accommodation, I would give 5/5 starts for it. The room was very nice and clean. The food wasn't great sadly. We ordered hot wings for starters but it was frozen wings fried and served on slated plate. It was rubbery and oily. Normally fried starters would be served on papered trays/plates so the oil can soaked into the paper.A professionally qualified chefs would serve oily/fried foods/starters on papered containers. Surroundings wasn't great/not maintained well. I would still go back simply for their customer services.
Dear Shanthan, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the exceptional customer service provided by our team and that you found your room to be comfortable and clean. Providing outstanding service is always our top priority, so we are delighted to have achieved this. We are disappointed to learn that your dining experience did not meet your expectations. Please accept our sincere apologies for the quality of the hot wings you ordered. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will certainly address this matter with our kitchen team to ensure that such instances are not repeated in the future. We appreciate your insight regarding the presentation of fried starters and will take this into consideration to enhance the dining experience for our guests. Once again, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an exceptional dining experience that reflects the high standards we strive to maintain. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Lovely spot for an night. Hotel room was modern and had everything needed. Comfortable beds, hot drinks facilities etc. Breakfast was great, served yourself & good quality.
Dear B, Thank you for your fantastic review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Went for a spa day last weekend. Lovely selection of lunch what is great. Robes only one size so if your a bigger girl then be prepared. The pool area was OK. The steam room had a mouldy smell to it and we didn't feel safe being in there. The sauna was small. As I was relaxing by the pool something fell on me from the ceiling, like dirt or something. Relaxation room was a nice touch. Treatment was really good too! BUT the score is purely down to the fact of the shooting ground right next door. All you can hear is shooting all day. I am not aware of seeing this anywhere. It was so loud!
Dear Shena, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased you enjoyed your lunch and had a good treatment. I have spoken to the team to fully investigate the smell in the steam room and the pool ceiling. I would like to apologise for something falling on you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately the Clay Pigeon shooting comes from the village so we cannot control the noise. I would like to thank you for your feedback, and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: When we arrived 2 members of staff (Chinese male & older English female) completely ignored us while we waited behind another customer. We had to wait for approx. 10 minutes while the 2 members of staff continued to gossip and pretend there were issues on the computer to look at which quickly disappeared as soon as we began receiving service from a third member of staff at which point they began serving again. UNPROFESSIONAL! If you don't want to serve everyone that visits regardless of race don't work in the service industry. It's not slick nor clever and passive aggressive behaviour from staff will always attract a 1 star rating regardless of anything else. Room 6 was meh to say the least. Basic drab decoration. Small selection at breakfast but was tasty enough. The swimming pool was set to a good temperature, warm enough to enjoy a long swim. The gym was well equipped with lots of machines and space to workout. Plenty of space in the car park but tarmac was littered with potholes.
Positive experience: I booked myself into the Spa Day. Spa area was fairly outdated considering this is a 4* so an official name of a luxurious Spa is quite a stretch. Floors were very very slippy around the pool. It is a health club so children are welcome to use the pool area 9-11 am per day-which providing you have read up on the hotel you know to expect this and relax in the relaxation room or elsewhere. This room had refreshments pastries and was lovely and warm. Could have done with a lounger to lie down rather than full of chairs. Some loud noises around but not from the golfers outside. Sounded like open gates hitting against a fence. Simple fixes. Spa areas were warm including the restaurant part that you could relax and eat your meal in your robe. This is nice. Unfortunately the Sunday Chicken Lunch i chose for lunch was alike to a School dinner with runny gravy with bland meat and veg. I expected better. I spoke to the waiter and was met with nervous laughter only.Disappointing especially considering the price of the spa day I felt missold. The warm chocolate fudge cake was a shop bought dry piece of cake and wasn't warm. This cake was also on the counter in the relaxation room so I feel it was from there. Treatments were lovely great and the staff really are a complete asset to an otherwise over priced and unkempt establishment. Spa staff are very helpful and friendly. Unkempt is seeing a lot of rust in the bathrooms, paint that was discoloured dirty windows, tiles in swim area dislodged. Considering the facilities and the food- it felt oversold and price doesn't reflect environment. It needs some TLC. I can't comment on hotel rooms but for a Spa Day, the food let itself down.
Dear Liz, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent Spa Day experience with us. We genuinely appreciate your detailed review as it helps us to identify areas for improvement and ensure that we provide the best possible experience for our guests. We are sincerely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by the outdated appearance of our spa facilities and the slippery floors around the pool area. Your feedback regarding the noise disturbances and the lack of loungers in the relaxation room is duly noted, and we will certainly look into addressing these issues to enhance the overall ambiance for our guests. Regarding your dining experience, we deeply regret that the Sunday Chicken Lunch did not meet your expectations. We understand the disappointment you felt, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the quality of the meal. Rest assured that we take your feedback seriously, and we will work with our kitchen team to ensure that our food offerings meet the high standards that we strive to uphold. Furthermore, we appreciate your observations regarding the condition of our facilities, and we assure you that we are actively addressing maintenance concerns to ensure a pleasant environment for all our guests. On a positive note, we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the treatments and found our staff to be helpful and friendly. They truly are an invaluable asset to us, and we will be sure to pass along your kind words to the team. Once again, we apologize for falling short of your expectations during your visit. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more enjoyable experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Went on a elemis spa day with sis , treatments very relaxing , full facial for 50 mins , staff were excellent, included in price was swimming ,sauna , steam room . Hot and cold drinks ,pastries , in a relaxing room when waiting for treatments, available all day ,free towel ,robe and slippers , showers clean and tidy free lockers , hand and shower creams lovely , 2 course lunch was a pick from menue , service good bottle of water on table .
Dear Janet, Thank you for your fantastic review. We are so happy you had such a great Spa Day with us. We can't wait to welcome you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Nice hotel, most tables in restaurant are reserved, not sure why because it's freezing in here, bring a coat to lunch you will need one
Dear Stephen, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry you were cold in Hathaway's. We did have an issue with our boiler which I am pleased to say has now been rectified. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: spa was lovely, was a bit outdated and when i think of a spa i think of private facilities, not facilities people are staying at to use as well, when i first got there, there were children in the pool too. the food was ok. the ‘drinks’ that were offered for spa users could’ve done with more of a variety. although the treatments were amazing the pool was nice and big and so was the whirlpool. just preferred if it was separate facilities for spa users and hotel guests. although was a nice day
Dear Random One, Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed the spa facilities. Due to us being a Hotel with a Spa, the facilities are open to Hotel guests as well. We have limited Children's hours to make it so all guests have chance to relax and enjoy the pool. We are very pleased you enjoyed your treatments. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: My 19 yr old son treated me to a mother's day spar and high tea.Sadly the staff were not great in getting the high tea together. They made us wait almost three quarters of an hour for a set tea.The sandwiches were no very but the smallest slices zive ever had at any hotel or restaurant. The cakes were very nice however we had lost our appetite so took them as a take away. The spat itself was a wonderful 5 star experience .
Dear Miriam, Thank you for your review. I would like to personally apologise for the experience you received for your afternoon tea. I have looked at your booking and unfortunately there is no contact number, however if you would like to call the hotel we can discuss this further with you. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Truly the worst expensive meal I have ever had. So bad. How they put this food out is beyond me. Maybe someone senior should audit what is coming out that kitchen. Ordered calamari. Sent it back. Ordered nachos. Was tortillas in floaty cheese. Main meal was fish and chips. The picture describes it. . This place isn’t cheap so get it right or just stop. Place is run down in a lot of areas and needs investments. The volume of negative reviews tells a story however the hotel at least responds to negative reviews and doesn’t hide but it’s clear some real action is required and not just responses.
Dear Mark, Thank you for your review. I would like to sincerely apologise for the quality of food you experienced during your visit. I have passed your feedback onto our Head Chef to ensure this is reviewed and doesn't happen again. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the Hotel directly and I will be more than happy to talk to you. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Whilst there are ample car parking spaces, the car park is heavily potholed and has several areas that flood when it's raining. The rooms are tired and in need of a refurb. Having no ceiling lighting, the wall lighting should work, the room I had had two lights not working making one side of the room too dark. The bathroom did have a pleasant blue light. The phone didn't work either. The room service order was delivered incorrectly ( the second time in 2 weeks (2 orders)). I would recommend checking any bill you receive as there have been errors on two bills I received - charged too much. To be fair to the staff, they're always polite and friendly and deal with any issues promptly and fairly. Food quality is quite poor and the food at breakfast can be cold as it's a buffet style that's left in dishes without any heating. I'm back there again over the next couple of weeks and am seriously considering getting a takeaway.
Dear Joe, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Please accept my sincere apologies for the issues you encountered during your stay. I would to reassure you that we take all guest feedback on board and use this to improve our guest journey. I have passed this on to the relevant departments to make sure this doesn't happen again. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Away on business. Overall room staff and general feel was good. Staff friendly professional. I found everything very clean and well kept. Disappointed by the food. I had fried breaded Brie starter which were dry empty breaded shells. Then followed by a Thai red curry and rice. Portions very small and the curry was dry lacking sauce and worst of all the chicken was cheap rubbery off a thigh bone. For hotel food and the high end price associated it was very disappointing.
Dear Phil, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased you were happy with your room and the team. I was very disappointed to see you were unhappy with your food, i would like to apologise for this. Please be assured we take all feedback on board and use this to improve our guest journey. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Booked an overnight stay, executive room. Changing rooms lacked any soap or moisturiser, my locker was opened when I returned, I hadn't taken any valuables fortunately. Pool was full of kids, no one controlling them, was not the peaceful getaway experience we were hoping for. Ordered room service after having to request a menu from main desk, it took 50 minutes, then when it arrived was a total disappointment. Greasy, salty wings with batter that fell apart. Tiny portion of Calamari...chunks?! With a hair in the box, and cost £9.5 plus service charge?, Steaks that had no flavour, accompanied by frozen oven chips (one packet of salt for two of us) canned mushrooms cooked in veg oil not butter and a tomato that was not fresh. Desserts (which came with no spoons) were Eton mess that made me laugh out loud, it was a dollop of..mess, just a bunch of cream, with a few tiny sprinkles of meringue and the biggest insult a strawberry puree!?! It even contained a stray blueberry and was obviously from frozen. The treacle sponge was like Tesco basics, all sponge no treacle, just a thin smear on the top, the custard tasted like packet custard, grainy and not very creamy. For the price, I could have bought a week's food, was a total disappointment. Room was large and ok, it had a sky box which for some reason was just shoved down the back of the TV?? In this position the remote didn't connect to it, so I had to retrieve it and balance it on top of the wall mounted TV, they couldn't even be bothered to put it safely on a bracket?! There was a desk but no chair and the coffee pod machine was generously supplied...with two pods, amounting to one cup each. Complementary WiFi did not exist in our room, it was 1 bar at times but kept disconnecting for both of us. It was nice to get away but never again, this place is two star on its best day and not worth the money paid.
Dear Baz, Thank you for your review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during your stay. I have passed your comments onto the relevant departments for review. Please be assured we take all feedback on board to improve our guest journey. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Executive room was not executive, toilet seat handing off, bathroom lights broken, no hair dryer in the room even though it was advertised. room right next door to a function room. Bed was so uncomfortable, worst night sleep I’ve ever had. Hotel completely over priced, 2 adult fish and chips and 1 child fish and chips with 3 drinks £58. Has to be the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, I’d rate this 3 star at a push.. breakfast absolutely awful
Dear Viva, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay. I would like to apologise for the issues you encountered whilst you were here. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments for review to improve our guest journey. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: I will start with the positives the rooms are a generous size, the hotel has golf, spa, pool and pleasant grounds. Restaurants and bars on site we travelled as a group and ate one night though it was a bit hectic. Breakfast is self serve and there was plenty available. The negative I appreciate I arrived before official check in time but you do expect a certain standard of customer courtesy from reception staff, I approached the reception where there were 3 members of staff and informed them I had a reservation and received the curt response check in is at 3, I stepped aside to call a colleague who I knew was on site to ask where they were, whilst talking and as an after thought I was then shouted at by reception staff "you can wait in the bar!" When I returned after 3 to check in I was told my room wasn't ready so I asked how they knew this since no one had asked my name. Other down side was the attention to detail in room cleaning, there was a mass of hair in my bath plug hole which I only noticed after the first night this was removed the following day but a simple check list could avoid this additional disappointment
Dear Jacqui, Thank you for your review. I would like to sincerely apologise for the way you were dealt with at the reception desk. I have passed your feedback onto our Front Office Manager to do further training with the team. I have also spoken to our Head Housekeeper to ensure the plug holes are checked. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future to show you this is not our usual high standard. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: I reserved a room at this hotel for an overnight stay, but my sleep was interrupted at 5:13 am by a fire alarm. After evacuating to safety outside, I found myself among other guests with no staff present. Eventually, the alarm ceased, and guests returned to their rooms. Upon querying the front desk about the incident, I found only one staff member hiding in a back room, who mentioned they were still investigating as there were only two staff members on duty for the entire hotel that night. The next morning, I expressed my frustration to another staff member at the reception, seeking clarification on the previous night's events, only to be informed casually that someone had been smoking in the bathroom while casually applying lipstick, with no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by the early morning disturbance.
Dear Zizii, Thank you for your review. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to you during the fire alarm. We have implemented additional training for the nights team to ensure any further alarms are dealt with in a more professional manner. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Reception completely abandoned when we arrive so left to find our conference room on our own. The hotel is spread over a maze of corridors and overall its a little bit tired but comfortable. Stayed for a business with meals provided. buffet breakfast had a nice choice of full English hot items (only 1 choice of egg - fried) cold options and toast. Buffet lunch wasn't to my taste at all (day one was 2 types of fairly basic pasta, one meat (cheap and greasy), one veg, both unintentionally cold, while day 2 was curry (again one meat and one veg) made do with salad and cold meats/cheese. Dinner was better but portions were on the small side. The bar was expensive (large sauvignon blanc £12, large g&t nearly £14, £4 for a cola) . Small but nice pool with a spa, steam room and sauna which was a nice bonus (the bath robes however are tiny - I'm a uk 14 and it bearly covered my bust and had a huge gap) Rooms very comfortable (if a little warm) and very dark and quiet, with a handy blue light in the bathroom for those who need nighttime visits. I couldn't figure out the TV but fairly minor inconvenience. There's also clay pigeon shooting, a driving range and a golf course.
Dear Karen, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the issues you encountered whilst you were here. I have passed all of your feedback onto the relevant departments to ensure this does not happen again. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Trouble booking! Rang to book for a Tuesday evening, informed fully booked. I informed them Red Diary says I can. Informed by staff who consulted with the manager - still said no! I ignored them and booked using Res Diary. Arrived on Tuesday, place half empty! Food took ages. I did initially want the Prawn Liguine, a customer on the next table advised ‘Don’t as is flavourless.’ I ordered the burger. Bun was cold, clearly not defrosted properly or warmed up! Fries tepid! Clearly have staffing issues and no decent, competent chefs and inadequate management. Was also asked to pay for drinks directly and not with food, so literally had to stop eating to do the transaction. Me thinks management need to think about their service and food quality as all the above is fixable and doesn’t cost money’
Dear Deborah, Thank you for your review. I have arranged for my Colleague to give you a call to discuss this further. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Rooms look good in pictures, but unless you upgrade your room they’re basic and dated. Shower temp wouldn’t work so was only one temperature. Emma who worked in reception was very rude upon arrival. Mould in shower and tiles look like they haven’t been washed
Dear Adam, Thank you for your review. I am sorry you had problems with your shower. I will pass this onto our maintenance team. Please be assured we take all feedback on board and use this to improve our guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Everything about it was ok, upon arrival we opted to upgrade our package for a larger room with a bath and shower, the first room had only a shower and the tv wouldn't connect, so we moved to another room which had what we expected. At dinner the food we ordered food didn't have half of the ingredients and still brought it out to me annoyingly, I had raised this with them and the server was apologetic and offered us another side which i accepted but if they knew they only had half of it why still plate it up? Sauna was warm at best, the rest wasn't bad and in all fairness the staff was really good but for the money it the packages cost you can't really complain Only massive positive is the massages me and my partner had was done very well and in the grand scheme of things it's good value for money all things considered
Dear Connor, Thank you for your review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during your stay. Please be assured we take all guest feedback onboard. This will be passed on the the relevant department Managers to review further, and help us improve our guests experience with us. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Very nice and quiet room. Good WiFi but phone signal is patchy Had seafood linguine which was tasty, the carrot and coriander soup was a little bland for me. The gym is well equipped for a decent workout I booked the wrong dates by accident and Helena on the reception was a star. She chatted with the online agent I booked with and her boss who was on a night out. She cancelled 1 booking allowing me to make a new booking with no penalty. I could of lost the money for the wrong dates. I will definitely be back again after Xmas
Dear Cathal, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments for review. We look forward to welcoming you back after Christmas. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Room was very nice. NO option for Gluten free breakfast even though it was requested weeks before we arrived also no refund for the non breakfast. Very very poor for a large place. Gluten free bread can be frozen and defrosted in minutes but not even that option.
Dear Ray, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. After your feedback we have now implemented a better gluten free selection on a separate station. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: When we first arrived, we initially had issues with our room where it was cold and there was no electricity. We thought this was rectified but after 5 minutes, the electric went off again. They immediately moved us to a larger, warmer room and gave us a couple of a vouchers for free drinks which is the reason for this review being a full five stars - everywhere has issues but it’s how you deal with them that counts and these people were spot on. We then went on to have a great time in the pool which was a good temperature and ate in the restaurant afterwards. The food here was great, I especially enjoyed the calamari. Breakfast was spot on too as it included everything we, as a family of three, could ask for.
Dear John, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the issues you had with your heating, however so pleased you were moved and enjoyed your vouchers. I have passed all of your fantastic feedback onto the relevant departments. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Very nice stay here, thou the decor in my view is tired, small pool, shorts dryer was broken, there were 2 complimentary moisturisers in the changing rooms, that were empty on both occasions I went to the pool, also looked like an age since they were last cleaned, food was nice, thou the picture on the telly in the bar, was very 1970s, could have been a much better review, with a little more attention to detail.
Dear Howard, Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. I would like to apologise for the dryer not working and the empty moisturisers in the changing rooms. I have passed this feedback onto our Health Club and Spa Manager to look into further. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Not 4 star, food is awful really, hence not 4 star, rooms pretty good, staff pretty good too but the menu and quality of food, wow, school dinners better, pricy too, £20 for fish and chips and £8 for garlic ciabatta add a drink or two & your looking at £50 notes , that’s, top class Italian, French, Thai restaurant prices that, hmmmm
Dear Sonic Speed, Thank you for your feedback after staying with us. We are pleased you liked the room and found the team to be 'pretty good'. I am sorry you were unhappy with your meals and drinks. I have passed your feedback onto our Food and Beverage team to look into further. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Would not recommend! Booked this for a spa weekend with the girls as a celebration last month. Called earlier to book and was told the beef and chicken was halal. I received a email informing me that they would be able to arrange a celebration package which was £45 - included Prosecco and chocolates. Explained we did not drink alcohol, however when we got there the Prosecco and chocolates were alcoholic. This was with a very cheap looking banner which said congratulations, whole thing was NOT WORTH £45! Had a dinner reservation at 8 was seated after 20 minutes. Food took ages to arrive and only had 1 item that was halal, whereas I was told something different over the phone. We were very disappointed and disheartened after the first day. We did speak to the manager and managed to get some money refunded which was satisfactory. However would not come back unfortunately.
Dear Reepa, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during your stay with us. I am pleased to see you discussed this with a Manager and they refunded some of your stay which you were satisfied with. I am sorry you feel unable to return to us in the future, but I would like to reassure you that we take all our guest feedback seriously and use this to improve on future guests experiences. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Such a lovely hotel with excellent facilities. A group of us stayed here for a week as we were working away from home. The rooms were tidied every day, bed was really comfortable and everything/everywhere was easy to navigate. The breakfast was delicious and had a great variety of options. Dinner was just as delicious and never disappointed. The staff were also brilliant - so friendly and helpful. They have a pool and gym facilities as well. I only managed to get time to use the gym once and it was clean and tidy. Thank you for a great week!
Dear S Steele, Thank you for such a great review. We are so happy you had such a good stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon where you can hopefully have chance to use the gym some more. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Completely unacceptable! We had to be moved rooms twice due to plumbing issues. The first two rooms were thick with dust and grime, particularly around the bedside and wardrobe (picture is above bed head). Worst of all, at breakfast I watch a duty manager who was clearing plates, put pastries back on to the buffet from used plates! I find this very concerning and totally unacceptable. I have also bought this to the attention of this ‘four star’ hotel but have had no reply, clearly they haven’t taken this seriously.
Dear Emily, Thank you for your review. Please accept my sincere apologies for you not being contacted before now. I have sent you a personal email. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Pretty dated hotel, could really Do with modernising, it feels very 80s in there (avocado bathroom…) and the facilities, whilst ample, could do with being touched up. The facilities of the hotel are great, a nice pool and sauna, breakfast was good with a nice selection but be prepared to queue if you’re there at peak times, the staff seemed a bit stressed ferrying small plates of everything to top up the buffet (not sure why they don’t do this in bigger batches…). There is clay pigeon shooting on-site or very close by so the sound of gunshots in the car park is a bit disconcerting until you realise what’s going on.
Dear Bhavesh, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay with us. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and were able to use the facilities. The clay pigeon shooting is in Lea Marston Village so can be heard from the Hotel at times. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Stayed here recently for a course being run in the hotel. The communal areas are lovely and the pool was beautiful. Food was lovely breakfast, lunch and dinner. Unfortunately the room was a real let down. It didn't smell very fresh upon arrival, the carpets were stained. The bathroom was less than acceptable. Thick line of muck along the bath panel and the grab handle for the shower was more rust than anything else. Also early signs of damp apparent on the walls in the bathroom. I untucked the duvet and made the mistake of fluffing the duvet...this just caused all the cobwebs on the walls and ceiling to waft in the air movement. I expected more for this calibre of hotel. A little bit of attention to detail and this would be lovely.
Dear Claire, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are happy you enjoyed Health Club and food element of your stay. I would like to apologise for the cleanliness of your bedroom. Please be assured we take all our guest feedback seriously and use this to improve our guest experience. If you would like to discuss this further please email [email protected] We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Shona
Positive experience: It's an average hotel. Rooms are clean and nice enough but the hotel itself is a bit tired looking and the hallways had an odd smell. Food in the restaurant is very overpriced for what it is, and the breakfast food wasn't great quality. We did the spa package which was okay value for what you get. The spa is pretty nice with pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. It was really busy on the Saturday but on Sunday much quieter. The treatments included in the deal are only 25 mins which isn't really long enough for a good manicure. The manicurist did not let the polish dry fully between coats and then was being rushed by her colleague to finish quicker, so the results were not great.
Dear Zoe, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the manicure not been up to standard. If you would like to discuss this further please email [email protected] I would like to thank you for your feedback - this will be passed onto the relevant departments to review. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Stayed again at the weekend, beautiful hotel, fabulous staff and delicious food. Rooms are clean and has everything you could possibly need. I'm sure we will stay again.
Dear Laura, Thank you for your fantastic review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: Lovely little place, off the beaten track. My second visit here for work. As always some rooms are better than others. If your room is overlooking the driving range, they collect the balls around 6am..
Dear Mark, Thank you for your fantastic 5* review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: We’ve supplied our event hire services at Lea Marston so many times and I thought it was about time we left a review after yet another great example of customer service and helpfulness. Sam Cole who organises the events & weddings is just so friendly and helpful each time we reach out to her - and thought she deserved a mention! Quite often in the hospitality business you never know how accommodating or welcoming venue staff/managers may be with suppliers in their venue. Some are standoffish and can’t wait to get you off the phone. But not the case here, each time I’ve called or emailed Sam she responds straight away and is always ready to be of help! Likewise I’ve just phoned the hotel asking about access and timings to an event at the weekend and Helena couldn’t do enough to find out all the details to help me, to help the customer :) If you are planning a wedding or event here I can’t recommend the staff or venue enough - nothing is too much trouble!
Dear Sterlings photo Booths, Thank you so much for such lovely feedback. It is so great to hear such lovely words regarding our team. We look forward to seeing you soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager We are so happy
Positive experience: Stayed here for a wedding. Apart from the dirty windows in our room, it was a lovely place to stay. The little spa that we made use of was the big driving factor why we enjoyed our stay. Two incidents that reduced my ratings were linked to the restaurant. One was called ahead to book a restaurant table to find it not available when arrived and was fully booked. We got seated eventually but still, that annoyed me after a 3h 1/2 hour drive. And finally, breakfast on Saturday morning had 5 couples including us standing waiting to be seated with empty seats just not been cleaned up from previous dinners. Had to wait 15 min to be seated and had to drag a chair over to sit in as 7 months pregnant and starving. So the front of the house needs massive improvement.
Dear Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your recent stay. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered whilst you were here. Please be assured we listen to our guests feedback and use this to improve on the experience our guests receive. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Hotel and room was clean and tidy, parts of the hotel did need updating. Things needed repairing or replacing throughout. Pro Breakfast was good, help yourself! Con Key cards stopped working for many guests Poor standard of repairs in room Thin walls in room! (Could hear next door) Main bad point was a fire alarm in the morning. All guests had to get out of the building on a morning. A few just in towels. Whilst the staff remained inside for nearly the whole time and only came out at the last minute, to go straight back inside. Staff were also re entering throughout using a side door. No apologies received for the inconvenience and poor execution. I wouldn't stop here again unless I visit for an event
Dear Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following on from your recent visit. I would like to apologise for the disruption caused to you by the fire alarm. Our guests safety is our main priority, and although a fire alarm may be an inconvenience it is also there to protect our guests and team members. All of your feedback will be passed onto the relevant department so actions can be put in place to make sure our guests stay is as enjoyable as possible. I would like to thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: We didn't stay here but had breakfast and dinner twice while visiting someone who was staying here. The service here was outstanding in my opinion. Everyone we came in contact with, reception, a housekeeping lady in the corridor, the staff in the restaurant and bar were all super pleasant and friendly without exception. I promised them I would leave a good report and here it is! They deserved it.
Dear John, Thank you for such a lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Pros- lovely room, comfy bed, great shower. Dog friendly Cons: beyond shocking food, didn’t tell us that the shooting range was next to the hotel so it sounded like we were under fire at 10am in the morning! Terrified the dog. The pub where we ate needs some attention! My foot stuck to the floor ! Seats looked dirty and very worn. Very over priced. No hotel information in the hotel, I had to google everything! And ring reception for meal times ??
Dear Suzanne, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the the issues that arose during your stay with us. The shooting range is located in Lea Marston Village so we do hear some noise from there. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments for review. Thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve on our guests experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Not the best place I've stayed considering the price. Barely slept all night as the pillows were rock hard giving me neck ache. Fortunately the bed was comfortable. I got a call the day after booking to ask when I wanted to book treatments in and I booked them for the departure day. The girl booking it said she would check back if I could have my treatment extended to 50 mins rather than 2 25mins and would get back to me. Had no call back. When we came out from using the Spa facilities on the day of arrival I'd had a missed call from the spa. I went to the Spa reception to find out what time she had booked our treatments in for the following day to be told that they we had missed them. Luckily the lad on reception had moved them to the day of departure for us or we could have lost out through no fault of our own. On the day of departure we had our treatment booked in for either 10 or half 10 but were then called to ask if we could move them. The staff in the bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. The fact I didn't sleep very well at all and the unorganisation means I wouldn't return here again.
Dear Blake, Thank you for your review. Your feedback has been passed onto our Health Club and Spa Manager for review to make sure this doesn't happen again. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager All of your feedback
Fantastic experience: Super size rooms with facilities... and extremely friendly & helpful staff. Lots of car parking spaces... lovely bar & food. Lea Marston Hotel is surrounded by gardens & "beer" Gardens. Very enjoyable stay.
Dear Dinesh, Thank you for your fantastic 5 star review. We are so pleased you had such an enjoyable stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kindest regards Shona - Operations Manager
Positive experience: We were there attending a wedding dance floor postage stamp size ,rooms nothing special could do with more plug sockets maybe with usb points shower OK not that powerful our view was a bit of scrub land try some landscaping
Dear Steve, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take all our guest feedback on board and use this to improve our guest experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were good, as was all the food. Enjoyed a game of pitch and putt and the spa. Some areas of the hotel could do with a little updating but in the whole had a very enjoyable weekend. Would definitely go back.
Dear Craig, Thank you for your fantastic review. We are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay with us and found the team to be excellent. That is great to hear. We can't wait to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Nice evening meal but breakfast was terrible with food coming out in dribs and drabs and crockery kept running out. Then the electricity went out and we were never given any sort of apology. Also a group of local young lads were in the Spa when we were there and were loud, vaping and leary. They obviously had previously visited as the receptionist read them a list of rules none of which they seemed to take notice of.
Dear Mrs Carroll, Thank you for your review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during breakfast and in the health club. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments to look into further to make sure this doesn't happen again. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: The room we had which was an Executive Double was spacious and modern with a nice modern bathroom and was clean. There was only 1 bottle of water in the fridge which seemed a bit stingy as there was 2 of us. We asked the housekeeping staff for more the 2nd day and they gave us 2 with no problem. As the fridge is in a cupboard is doesn't get very cold. The TV is quite far from the bed when watching so could do with being a bit bigger. 2 of our party had a standard twin and the decor in that was very tired, not very modern, especially the bathroom. Another of our party had a suite, this was very dark with only little spotlights in the sitting area and strange, shallow, upright sofas. Would be far better with a bigger, more comfortable sofa. The breakfast is ok, not really a 4 star experience. Plates , glasses and juice ran out quite regularly. For dinner, we had booked a table in the "Brasserie", however when we arrived it was not what was online, but a conservatory through the pub and a completey different menu. There was no mention of this when it was booked. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco which we discovered wasn't chilled when we picked it up to open it. We asked if it could be replaced with a cold one and were told that there were no more in the fridge, this should have been mentioned when it was brought over. We sent it back as weren't going to pay for warm prosecco! There was also no ice on 2 occasions when we went to the bar and it took ages for some to appear. The bar staff were friendly but seemed to have little knowledge of how to operate a bar. Overall, ok but definitely not operating at the level of a 4 star hotel.
Dear Rachel, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay with us. I would like to apologise for the issues that arose during your stay. I have passed your feedback onto our Food & Beverage Manager to address any training needs with the team. I would like to thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve on our guests experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: The hotel looks really nice on the pics but in person is completely different. We tried the heating in our room because it wasn’t working, the lady at the reception sent someone to fix it but they didn't fix it, I told them i was ill because the room was cold and the problem was not solved. On breakfast there was no vegetarian sausage. The hotel looks very nice in the photos but in person it looks completely different, the rooms too, when we booked the room the pictures was completely different from what is in person. The spa is really nice and the best part of the hotel. I would like to say thank you to the guy on reception he was really helpful when we arrived in the hotel on Wednesday night he was very polite the best customer service from this hotel.
Dear Maria Eduarda Santos de Jesus, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during your stay. We are pleased you enjoyed the spa. Thank you for your kind words regarding one of our reception team. That is lovely to hear. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Had a terrible stay. Left earlier as room requirements were not met and very noisy, zero working tv and zero wifi and not a great room for the price. Spoke to reception manager Paul Chow asking for a refund or even a partial refund or anything as i literally only stopped over for like 4 hours but he refused everything! Nothing was offered at all and he didnt care! Poor staff and communication. Never visiting again!
Dear Zahra, Thank you for leaving a review. I am sorry your room requirements were not met. This is very disappointing to hear. Our guest feedback is very important to us to ensure you have an enjoyable stay with us, however on this occasion we did deliver this. If you would like to discuss this further I would be more than happy to. Please email [email protected] and your email will be passed to me. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager contact the hotel directly on 01675470468. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: A absolutely disgraceful, I wouldn’t let my dog stay here. The rooms was dirty and tried, I just couldn’t relax at all. I booked 14 rooms in total and haft of them had issues. Blocked sinks and shower, used dirty towels left on floor, bedroom had not been cleaned, dirty marked bed sheets, dirty toilet, noisy, no cups for coffee at breakfast, serving platters not big enough as constantly waiting for these to be refilled with breakfast items, no bottled water in rooms, ordered lunch served with no napkins food just dumped on table, unacceptable wait for food, hotel tried to charged my credit card 5 times, they made to total mess of booking names for rooms, incorrect room allocated upon arrival I could go on!
Fantastic experience: Good clean rooms. The gym and pool are adequate. The bar has a good selection of drinks, food is standard pub fare and reasonably priced.
Negative experience: Booked a spa day for me and my partner for his birthday, photos looked amazing but definitely not a true representation. Big mould issues in the changing rooms, and smell of damp in whole spa, yellow liquid on the floor in sauna which I wasn’t sure what it was, I was really disappointed that I’d spent so much for the dirty facilities. I wouldn’t go in the steam room because of how dirty the glass door was I worried for the mould in the changing rooms that it would be the same in there. Afternoon tea however was lovely and the restaurant was nice but sadly spa is not the same standard, needs to be closed and deep cleaned atleast.
Dear Meg, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to personally apologise for your spa experience. I have passed your feedback onto our Health Club and Spa Manager to look into further. We are pleased you enjoyed your afternoon tea. We value your feedback and will use this to improve our guest experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: The team at Lea Marston were very helpful when arranging a conference room for a meeting with my team and a supplier. We also stayed at the hotel in the evening and the staff were great too. I'm just waiting for them to respond to my email about sending me an invoice for my bar drinks.
Dear Richard, Thank you so much for your fantastic review. We are so pleased the team were helpful. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: We stayed on 5/5/23. Upgraded our room beforehand, but this was ignored. No bath, only shower, very disappointing. Hotel requested £50 hold on card for extras and charged £30.85 for tea/coffee and two slices of cake. The Ritz this is not! Sad to say, the place has gone downhill quickly and we won't be returning. I spoke to reception on leaving and they advised they would investigate. Still waiting. I have emailed since and had zero response.
Negative experience: We booked an overnight stay here as a romantic break. It was so awful it was hilarious. We kept thinking Alan partridge might pop up from somewhere. We made the most of it because we aren’t really the sort to complain but it was pretty dire. We had £50 off dinner as part of the package we booked. It was £17 each for 2 badly microwaved chicken tikka masalas with 5 burned crisps on top. The restaurant was filthy. My partner was sat next to a gravy splatted curtain. The staff were all really young and you could tell they weren’t at all interested being there. The restaurant was super bright and pumping out 90s classics on the radio at club volume levels. It was like being in a late night kebab house (but with worse food). We ordered a bottle of wine at the bar to take to our room. It was a warm Pinot Grigio given to us without glasses and it took about 20 mins to get it. It cost £28 and was disgusting. We later had a bottle of Prosecco (another £30) and this was passable. We were then over charged £58 when we checked out as they hadn’t accounted for us paying for the white wine at the bar. My partner called them to let them know they had over charged us. We still haven’t been refunded 2 weeks later. If you’re going to stay here, bring your own wine and don’t risk eating here. It’s truly vile. Wetherspoons is better quality food. The spa is also very unrelaxing so if you want a spa break look elsewhere. This one is full of chavs and kids.
Dear Rachel, Than you for your review. I would like to personally apologise for the issues that arose during your stay. I have passed your feedback onto the relevant departments to review and implement changes to make our guests experience the best it can be. If you would like to contact the Hotel today and speak to our Front Office Manager we can look into the overcharge for you. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Accommodation is basic, but you will find all you need. Spa facilities are good, proper sauna and steam room, unfortunately didn’t try any treatments, because it was fully booked. I would like to highlight the food in the restaurant, every meal we tried there was so good. Simple meals, but cooked well!
Dear Kristine, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay and look forward to welcoming you back soon and hopefully you manage to great a treatment as well. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL Has a really disappointing stay at this hotel. Booked for the spa facilities for an event in Birmingham. Paid £197 for an executive room, room only (no breakfast) on a Monday night. The whole presentation of the hotel does not meet 4 stars right from when you arrive, the car park being filled with pot holes. The hotel says it is independent so I was hoping for some character but the corridors and rooms are soulless with mass produced furniture, scuffed walls, dead plants for decoration and random pictures everywhere.. The spa facilities were even worse: male and female changing rooms have swapped but when you push the first door of the ladies open you are greeted with a big ‘male changing’ sign and a urinal. Rather off putting. The changing rooms are terrible dated and tatty, the swimwear dryers don’t work in either changing area, the bins are rusty. I raised these issue with the reception desk (after they tried to charge me for a breakfast we hadn’t had) only to be offered £30 off which wasn’t really in keeping with our poor stay.
Dear Lacey, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We do swap the changing rooms over if our male maintenance team have to complete essential works in the ladies changing rooms for the comfort of our guests. I have passed your feedback regarding the changing rooms onto our Health Club and Spa Manager for review. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: Positively, staff very friendly, meal deal was ok value and the pool was all ok. Negatively, the hotel is dated and needs a refurbishment programme. The rooms, for example, in corners need a good clean. Also on our second nights when arriving in the bar for dinner we were greeted with the news that all draught beers were unavailable, an apparent change of pipes for a new supplier - you really should plan better, communicating in advance. Had we not been on a db&b basis we would have made alternative arrangements. We were left with no choice than to buy expensive bottled beer and wine. You should consider a gesture of goodwill on the night in such circumstances. And the last point, on the second night only one till open behind the bar so there were was a long wait to order.
Dear Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered whilst you were here as this is not our usual standard. Thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve our guests experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: Initially we enjoyed the stay, we were disappointed by the spa but thought the food was very good. We also ordered an additional round of drinks at the bar after our meal which was charged to the room. When walking past reception on the way to our room the receptionist offered to have some water brought to the room for the night so we accepted. Upon checking out the bill was wrong as we had been charged for our food twice, we queried this with the intention of questioning the additional charges which were a 20% tip the bar staff had decided to add without asking us and a £6 room service fee for the water! When asking about the food bills the reception staff jumped on it and refunded the £50 we had overpaid but did not give us chance to ask anything else so we ended up paying the extra charges.
Dear Stephanie, Thank you for your recent review. We will be more than happy to refund the £6 room service charge if you would like to give us a call. A 10% service charge is added in the food outlets however we are more than happy to remove this should you ask. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Fantastic experience: I came here with my family for Mother’s Day Sunday lunch. We were given a warm inviting greeting by staff upon arrival to the restaurant, it was a nice setting with a singer in the background which was a nice touch. The staff went above and beyond. I asked a few questions about entertainment going forward which a member of staff was most informative. The food was delicious!! We couldn’t fault our experience. Staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. We shall return.
Dear Rebecca, Thank you for leaving such a lovely review We are so pleased you had such a good Mother's Day lunch. Thank you for the great comments regarding the team and we are so pleased you enjoyed the Singer. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future to help you make more memories. Kindest regards Shona Operations Manager
Positive experience: The place was lovely and the staff at the front desk was some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, greeting us with a warm smile and jokes absolutely lovely, I wish I could say the same for the rest of the staff however when we ordered food there was not a smile, they waited to serve us as they was speaking to each other. However I hate to say it but I think the food was overpriced for food you could just get at a local pub, which unfortunately fitted the scene very well we expected a nice dining area however we was put in a corner in the pub for standard food that was the only disappointment to me as the pool and spar made the whole experience well worth it. If you want a nice relaxing getaway I would highly recommend. The room was luxurious and the bed felt like a dream to sleep on, the bath ran very fast and the lighting was very nice and relaxing. We also had the option of room service which was amazing for the morning breakfast, it was delicious.
Dear Kiah, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. What lovely comments regarding our reception team - thank you. I would like to apologise that this was not the same service when you went for meal. Its great to hear you had such a good nights sleep. I would like to thank you for your feedback as without this we cannot improve on our guests experience. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
Negative experience: £50 charged on arrival as a security deposit which a week later has not been refunded. Rooms are tired and dated and not very clean. The first I was allocated didn't have working lights and broken curtains. The one I moved to didn't have a working TV and after googling I discovered the reason the coffee machine didn't work was it needed descaling. Awful breakfast. Really poor experience.
Dear Jenni van Ree, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to apologise for the problems you encountered during your stay. Please feel free to contact the hotel directly if you still haven't received your deposit. Kind regards Shona Operations Manager
