Ennerdale Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Closed kids pool makes all the kids go to the big swimming pool area. At public swimming hours when there is only one pool available, its often overcrowded. Only 2 swimming lanes available. Good for relax, but for real training better go to another council pool

Fantastic experience: Although this facility is getting in a bit, over 40 years old, it's still well maintained and fresh. The changing area was clean and the showers were excellent. The staff were friendly. This was my first visit in over 8 years and I wasn't disappointed. Unfortunately the small pool is currently out of action

Positive experience: Noy really disable friendly changing areas. Staff lovely. Been asking for yrs. But no action ever happens. Long slope walk way to entrance. Good parking. Great for able bodied people.

Positive experience: Staff are friendly enough, though, especially Tony in the fitness suite, who goes out of his way to engage with the customers positively and in a helpful way when needed. But the centre is tired even by municipal standards. The gym has several pieces of faulty equipment, which have been U/S for some time now. The sports hall equipment is damaged and in need of replacement. It's usable, though. The membership inclusions are odd. Giving you access to ice skating, for example, but charging you an extra £5 something per session for a court in the sports hall can mean nearly £50 per month if you use the course weekly, and as mentioned, they're not in great condition. For someone like myself (who can not even ice skate), I'd prefer the options to choose what's included in my membership. To avoid extortionate costs. Finally, access from the car park is nothing short of ridiculous. You are forced back out onto the pavement to walk around a bin store and up the access ramp. There are stairs that would be far more convenient, but these have been fenced off. No doubt there's a reason for this. But I feel it would be a more customer friendly idea to fix the problem rather than just fence it off and leave it to be the unsightly overgrown waste of space that it now is. Overall, it is a usable place but very uncared for, tired and uninspiring.

Negative experience: Awful experience, cold changing rooms, very cold walk to the pool. Being disabled found it difficult to get in the pool and even more so getting out. They was an awful smell nr the changing rooms. And no hair dryers. Haven't been for years and will NOT be going again.

Positive experience: Took the grandchildren for the free swimming hour. Really enjoyed themselves. Centre itself has been stripped back from what it was like many years ago but clean and warm. Lifeguards very on the ball.

Negative experience: This pool needs help and needs it now the adult swim sessions are overfilled and full of people messing about or standing at the ends of the pool talking. Even the cornered lanes are full of people who one cannot swim and 2 who are going at the speed of a snail, really needs to wither all be lanes or use the limiting booking system from covid really gone down hill.

Negative experience: The staff are very rude and have no idea how to deal with disabled people. They definitely need training in customer service.The gym is expensive with minimal old equipment.

Positive experience: Attended a swim competition recently. Clean and bright pool. Ample seating area. Free car parking. Tidy changing rooms. Can't comment on the fitness studio or other facilities

Positive experience: I've been using the gym here for a few months and overall, it's a good experience. The staff are friendly and the gym is always clean. It's a small gym, but more than enough for what you actually need. All the equipment is in good condition. It does get busy in an evening and on a weekend, but it's a mix of all abilities and people, so the atmosphere is always relaxed, rather than rushed. There isn't any water available, but that's not a problem.

Negative experience: Not sure where all the money on the refurb was spent to be honest, gym is small and minimal equipment but it's alright when quiet

Positive experience: I am a member, and hold a family pass, the pool is great for kids 10+yr height wise you could leave them with confidence (plenty of life guards) and use the gym etc. In regard the gym, it's very small, and being a family account holder I use the badminton courts which are always empty and it makes me feel I should sneek in and not have to pay extra £4 for court hire if empty. But for the price you could get your monies worth if used correctly.

Negative experience: Went today changing room floor full of urine, went all over clothes. spoiled the occasion, asked manager for a refund declined apparently don’t have cleaners in there

Negative experience: It's not so much the staff or place that's not good it's the customers leaving a dirty impression nearly every cubical was dirty with socks chunks of hair and even used sanitary products left in them. It's a shame people can't tidy up after themselves but staff should be checking them too

Fantastic experience: Great pool and wonderful instructors for yoga and fitness classes. The gym is small but well-equipped with access to an adjoining space too do your own routine including spin bikes if you want.

Fantastic experience: I visited the Emmerdale,just to enquire about activities they have. To my suprise, I met a guy called Tony. I asked him about things that I could do, with me being a Amputee, loosing my lower left leg.To my suprise, he told me of a programs called Let's Go.This include a programs for Amputees at the Allan Sports Centre, Hull University. Using there gym, two sessions a week, Monday 10-11, Wednesday 10-11.and once a month we go swimming Monday 10-11, On both occasions there are trained personnel to put you through your paces, all the use of equipment is free as is the swimming. I'm in and I love it

Positive experience: Lovely helpful staff. Went swimming for the first time for a long time and loved it at Ennerdale. Changing rooms clean and roomy with plenty of lockers but the pool is lovely! It's light, airy and it's a nice atmosphere to swim in particularly with some tropical plants about (or was that my imagination?) Definitely going back as I loved it

Positive experience: Good facilities. Not overly expensive. Clean, well used with friendly staff.

Negative experience: Lovely pool, friendly staff, clean areas. Only thing that really let's it down is the times. Swim times constantly change from week to week. Cannot expect to have a weekly session and need to check times every week which is so disappointing. Loved the Thursday session from 4pm til 6 where both pools were accessible for the different age groups. Disappointed to miss another week as times have yet again changed.

Fantastic experience: Staff are very friendly and understanding about overlapping sessions to make sure you can get the most out of your money. Changing rooms are always clean and easy to navigate through. Pool is 1.5m deep at its max depth. Adult only session is recommended whilst the 6 weeks holidays are ongoing. The salad from the café is outstanding quality for it's money!

Negative experience: Gym was OK but the steam and sauna rooms are far to small there's no cubical to shower in there all open. Woodford is far better x

Positive experience: Visited the enclosed cycle track and was really impressed. We managed to have the circuit to ourselves and it was great to let my son have a great session without having to worry about traffic etc. Only improvement I would suggest is that Ennerdale should do more to stop dog walkers accessing the track. Somebody had dogs off lead on the track itself, and it charged towards us whilst we were riding. This is the only thing stopping me from giving it full marks.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would.... totally incompetent staff! Had trouble booking a family session online so I rang and was made to believe I had booked over the phone only to be turned away when arriving 2 very upset children. The manager just said “I’m sorry” he didn’t offer to book us on another session just nothing... now I have crying children who thought they were going swimming today after 12 weeks of lockdown. Not a happy mummy at all! And it was closed for refurbishment for months and months..... don’t see any improvement there!

Negative experience: Went as a spectator, watching granddaughter swim. But, look at seat ing next to the small pool. This, after a million pound upgrade.

Positive experience: It's a good place if you're into keeping fit and healthy, I would have given if 5⭐ but parts of the building have not been touched. ie men's changing rooms, plaster off the walls not even had a lick of paint.

Positive experience: I only use the gym. Quite small but good price if you use swimming pool and fitness classes. Equipment quite old and squeaky, but refurbishment under way. Nearby to me which is important as non driver but ample parking available at head of the river hull adjacent to the bridge

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting filthy rundown hell hole. How this is council run is beyond a joke. The changing rooms stunk of Rotton sewers. The showers were broke and full of lime scale. The full place needs knocking down its an accident waiting to happen. The staff need training as there customer service skills are in the dark ages!
