Abraham Moss Library & Leisure Centre

Positive experience: I love the library & the leisure centre, Most staff are friendly & welcoming. My only problem is the the toilets look like they are never cleaned . Sometimes I feel like volunteering an hour just to make those toilets clean. I understand its a public place but ,it can be better Kind regards ✨️

Negative experience: unsafe library where let young offenders smoking weeds , emotional abusive happened . my report has been downplay by library staffs on date however most of times library staffs are always friendly & lovely on 6th Jan 2025 around 12 pm i ran into 2 boys in library who they was cursing me , smoking weed in crumpsall park on june 2024 and they keep yelling cursing , harssing me since then when i ran into them june 2024 , i call the police which i have crime log CRI/06A1/0015139/24 Ref : 2286- 09/06/24 , Crumpsall park , 4; 50 pm i saw that 2 boys inside library on 6th jan 2025, freak me out . 2 boys stared at me , i feel really scared ,one boy finger point cursing action to me inside library even they shout at me go away front of staff how disgusting , unacceptable !!! 2 boys smoking weed inside library toliet . staff aware of that i reported to the staffs and mangers and whole explained about my previous issue but manger did not kicked them out , i have to left with distressed , upsetting . library staff just disregard , let 2 boys stay inside library 2 boys will be vist again with smug feeling they relaxing with somking weed inside library toilet and messed around in library safety unsafe place, let 2 boys smoking weed inside library , disregard my report manger kindly ??? advised me that i have to go home cause i feel distressed ? but why 2 trouble boys let stay in library . who have to leave library ? I have to left library with disgusting feeling i updated my crime log to the police which log 1955 - 06/01/25

Fantastic experience: We've become frequent attendees at the womens and children sessions. Nicole is awesome. My daughter's swimming abilities have improved hugely under her guidance. Staff and friendly and response and the centre is very well run. Thank you Would love more women and children sessions after school hours during the week.

Positive experience: I love the centre…the classes are friendly and also help motivate me to work hard. Love the pool too. Only comment is that the studio needs to be cleaned more as it frequently has hairs and dirt on the floor which is REALLY off putting when doing classes with floor exercises.

Fantastic experience: Went to the library on Saturday last and had some issues with my login Claire Davies was on reception and she truly was amazing, really helpful and friendly. I saw her assisting an elderly male and she was patient and kind with him.. I thanked Claire when I was leaving and told her she was wonderful and she smiled and said she was just doing her job. A lovely experience and look forward to going back.

Negative experience: It's waste paying for kids swimming lessons..No proper support or progress.

Negative experience: Amazing friendly helpful staff. Great facilities however pool changing rooms are unisex with no separate changing area for females. As a result, unfortunately a creepy experience for young teens.

Negative experience: I had high hopes of this place but unfortunately I ended up very disappointed. The unisex changing rooms were occupied by only men which, as a female, made me feel very uncomfortable. The lane discipline was poor with people not sticking to the clockwise system. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

Negative experience: What a total waste of time!! Woman’s swim was serious madness. Not a single person used the clockwise system, causing it to be very frustrating. The young girls who were in a separate part of the pool kept using the partition float as a toy causing a few near misses. The life guard on couldn’t have cared less. Grown woman should be able to follow instructions. It really isn’t that difficult. The changing rooms are filthy! You need to shower once leaving to get the grim off your feet. Seriously needs attention and some order. If you like swimming with very poor swimmers who have no idea how to navigate lane swimming then this is the idea place, otherwise don’t waste your money.

Positive experience: Warm friendly atmosphere

Negative experience: No way to sign up and print some items off on a Sunday. No explanation given by staff and lack of care towards me. There is no way to sign up online, if there is I was never informed on my visit. In addition there's no way to print a few items, when you are open till 5pm. This is backward and I won't be visiting your library again.

Negative experience: Well I went there first time with my 7 year old daughter n 11 year son it was my daughters first time all excited when got there I found the staff rude we got in swimming pool it was empty only 2 people we asked if we could borrow arm Bands or something for my daughter to use they said we carnt as only people booked in for classes can she was scared and upset I mean they could have lent us one till class started which while we where there no class was on .. all I’m going to say is please tell your staff to be more kind as even my kids said they so rude and there was no harm in lending as some thing for her to use especially like I told them it’s her first time thank god for the 2 people in pool who made her feel comfortable

Negative experience: I went to the library with my little ones after school around 3:30pm to have a good reading time but there are a lot of safety issues there. Teenagers were swearing at each other, arguing, shouting out and almost fighting each other. I had to leave the library to feel safe. Spoke to the receptionist but no one cares. Urgent need to have proper safety put in place in this place!

Negative experience: The gym is rubbish , don't have professional cleaners, clean the gym by thier lazy and unprofessional staff.

Negative experience: The toilets and showers, especially the disabled one, are consistently disgusting and dirty every week when I take my daughter swimming. There's dirt on the floor, hair everywhere, and it’s clear they haven’t been cleaned properly. The toilets also appear to be neglected.

Fantastic experience: Attended to look at swimming facilities as hydrotherapy needed. Site clean, bright, well organised with extremely helpful staff that provided relevant information with verbal communication. Please be aware if you need swimming lessons etc, when you sign up direct debit payments only are taken. If you want to sign up pleaded take bank account details with you. Staff extremely polite and helpful.

Negative experience: It was a great gym when it first opened. Unfortunately it's not looked after. The studio is absolutely disgusting. The floor does not get cleaned it's covered in stains, hair and that is first thing in the morning. The AC units on the ceiling are full of dust that we breathe and is always set at 19 degrees, so it gets extremely hot 10 mins into a class. I've not had a great experience the last few times I've been in. It's a shame as the instructors are amazing!

Negative experience: The facilities are great but sadly the clockwise swimming system isn't enforced so if you're unlucky enough to go when it's heavily booked then you'll be fighting to swim for fitness. Happened to me multiple times so I finally complained to the desk. Was told they're "regulars" & they won't listen to the lifeguards. Seems ridiculous that they allow that to happen. Suggested they allow less people to book sessions if they won't enforce the systems they advertise that are specifically designed to allow more than 12 people to swim comfortably. Would probably switch pools if it wasn't so close & there was another viable pool within reasonable distance

Negative experience: The facilities are amazing. However a 5pm closing times on the weekend is ridiculous. Should be 6pm earliest like Harpurhey leisure centre

Fantastic experience: I’ve started going to the new Abraham Moss leisure centre can that the facilities are excellent especially swimming. Nicole (manager) and the rest of the staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. They answer any questions / concerns you have and get back to you if they can’t answer straight away. The overall centre is very nice and I would recommend trying it out.

Fantastic experience: Love the fitness classes and the general facilities available at Abraham Moss. The staff are helpful and work to maintain safety. Nicole and Callum in particular are really lovely, and the fitness classes by Lorna, Lisa and Sakina are effective and enjoyable. Would recommend if you're looking for something to keep you fit and socialise. :)

Positive experience: My only problem is lack of parking spaces. It is a busy leisure centre, at times i have to wait good 10 to 20 minutes for a parking spot.

Fantastic experience: It is a great place to do your swimming lessons. The building is outstanding, the staff are great and it is very clean leisure centre. Nicol the swimming teacher is amazing and brilliant person. I hope you give good warning to people to wash their body before going into the swimming pool or steam.

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre and what a boost to the local area. The facilities are great, pool areas clean and tidy (although pool staff could direct weaker swimmers out of the ´fast’ swim lane), gym equipment looks great plus smaller Ladies only gym and the studio classes are fantastic! It’s situated right next to Abraham Moss Metrolink and has a substantial car park. The staff are absolutely wonderful, helpful, friendly and approachable. The fitness classes are my main reason for going especially with Hannah. Her classes are brilliant and so get booked up almost immediately. (I hope the centre arranges for her to do another Yoga class in the week) There are however another 2 yoga classes each week with Lorna and another instructor. Again, great classes but too ‘high tempo’ for me. I also try and get to Pilates with Lisa on a Tuesday when I’m not working and she is another brilliant instructor on a Tuesday. Literally loads of other classes to choose from though including Zumba, Tai Chi, Spinning, Body Conditioning to name but a few. I would definitely recommend this place

Fantastic experience: Big, beautiful, with computers to use and space to use your lappie as well. Free wifi available. Serene atmosphere, minimal noise from nearby tram route and road. Very helpful staff, kind hearted; willing to help, but more wiling to teach you to help yourself. Very affordable copiers, use coins only (I guess). Easy registration for children and adults, easy to obtain and/or replace membership card. Swimming pool suitable for children. Great stuff on sale, including swimming suits, clothes and snacks. You're not allowed to eat in the Library, though. You can borrow books, renew loan period. Properly functioning toilets available. You can have drinks in there. It's totally lovely, but I'm not sure of opening hours during holidays. MY CHILDREN AND I LOVE ABRAHAM MOSS LIBRARY!

Fantastic experience: The Big and Nice Leisure Center impresses with its vast array of amenities, including a crystal-clear pool, a state-of-the-art gym, and various sports facilities, all complemented by professional, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: We held our annual ballroom and latin university competition at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre Sports Hall. The venue set up was perfect and the staff were amazing to get everything in place for our event. With 400 attendees this was not a small undertaking but we have nothing but good things to say about the staff and venue and would definitely be using this venue again to host our events in the future. Amazing communication, organisation and Callum the manager made sure everything was ready for our event. Thank you so much Abraham Moss, we had an amazing day!

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed very limited women’s only health suite/swimming sessions available, always fully booked a week in advance. The health suite does not have a separate shower/changing area so once you use the sauna you have to use the mixed changing area. This makes the gym not fit for purpose for many ladies in the local Jewish and Muslim communities. I’ve spoken to large numbers of ladies who will be cancelling their memberships at the earliest opportunity.

Negative experience: Always a lot of noise, young and teenagers shouting, no one speaks with them, some people eats crisp etc and let the desk dirty. Receptionist staff really don't care, shouting as well, always talking/joking, there is not respect for people study, reading. It supposed to be quiet, it doesn't look like a library. Very bad place to study

Negative experience: Experienced anti semitic abuse when using the library with my yoing daughter. The staff were supportive, but I didn't feel safe being there.

Fantastic experience: Went for an early morning swim for the first time this morning, and was very pleasantly surprised, everything about my visit I could not vault...The pool and changing area were so easy to access, lovely atmosphere all round. I give it 5 *****

Negative experience: The library / work area is a jungle. Unsupervised kids running around, shouting and crying. Teenage boys cussing and causing troubles. Teen girls smoking weed inside the staff room. People speaking on the phone. All these happening at once. Meanwhile all the gym is focused on is charging £3 for non-attending FREE classes. What a joke. Really considering going back to pure gym.

Negative experience: It is not a library, always a lot of noise , young , teenager talking , playing , children , no one speak with them . It's very boring and hard to focus , to study here . Library should be quiet place , people read and study !

Negative experience: Staff are horrifically rude. Worst facilities I have ever come across. I would never recommend anyone to go to this gym.

Positive experience: Great new gym and swim facilities, however no wifi. Only wifi is the library which isn’t strong enough when in the gym. Scan to enter also doesn’t work so you have to wait at reception to get access. Would be easier if you can just book and scan at the gate

Negative experience: There are simply not enough women's only swimming and health suite sessions, especially in the evenings (not every woman is a homemaker/carer and may have a day job!). We see many slots for mixed sessions which are less than half full leading up to them, yet women are having to compete for the women only slots. There is clearly a demand for them as they are booked up a week in advance. This is unfair and ludicrous! The people who are running the leisure centre don't seem to be in tune with the demographics of the area or care about the needs of the local community. I suggest they consult their users, or would be users, and review their services. Update: just wanted to comment on the leisure centre's response to another users concern regarding the programmable gym being used by the the school for most of the day. Please see attached a photo of the timings given for public access when the centre first opened and compare this with current timings. Contary to the leisure centre's response, the timings have been changed considerably and now limit access for members of the public. As you can see previously, women could use the gym all day Tues and Thurs and after 3pm on Mon and Fri. This has been yet another disappointment for me!

Negative experience: This is an absolute joke the female gym is always booked out by the school, which they didn’t mention when we paid for the membership. Tell me what are we paying for? more or less everyday during the day time the school has access to female gym even on a Saturday there’s youth club on after 5pm. Now as for this mixed gym it’s appalling how are there kids under the age of 16 in the gym who don’t know how to use the equipment, it’s a safety hazard not just for the kids but other members.There’s 12yr old kids trying to pick up heavy weights. Where is the staff? How are they allowing kids this young unsupervised in the gym. Apparently kids are allowed with adults, but clearly there’s more kids in the gym than adults and the staff can see this but choose to ignore it, also there’s never any staff in the mixed gym when there’s children in there.This is becoming a joke the female gym is always booked by the school. The main gym is open with kids running around and playing game’s on equipment. The staff can see that some of the children aren’t with adults and the kids with adults aren’t be supervised, but don’t do anything just walk past. The staff needs to take some action kids under the age of 16 shouldn’t be allowed in and if they’re the staff need to be Present in the main gym. These kids are going to injure themselves and others, as half of them be playing games in there whilst their parents don’t bother to pay any attention.

Negative experience: Too much to say at just how badly they messed up the ‘new modern up to date’ layout.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional staff specially the manager. Disappointed me so many times with ladies gym and time table. I advise all females not to join their Ladies Only gym because you can only use it 2 hours in a week and its always booked for school activities.

Negative experience: I cant lie yh it was actually good at the start unless today there a women didn't let us in and we always book there and they never say something she was too islamaphoiba to us and not only us even other muslim people she did the same she didn't let my daughter go in just because she was 15 and we booked women only and she didn't let us in and she told us to go swim w the other men SHE was so rude all people were so sweet except for her and she canceled our booking HOW CAN SHE DO THAT she need to do her work properly my daughter know how to swim and she said just because she under 16 she can go to the 2 meter on and not the 1.2meter one what kinda stupid rule is this let me describe how she look like she got some long nose with tattoo on her thigh and she blond and she kinda tall if she don't let us in again im reporting her guys just don't let her be rude too u cuz she an actual mean person. THE THING IM MAD ABOUT HOW CAN SHE CANCEL OUR BOOKING!!! she need to get reported let me just find out her name im going on thursday again with the same people with the same booking if she don't let us she wont be happy to what i will do to her.

Positive experience: The Aqua class and teacher was brillant. But 25 people in a Aqua class, only 18 changing rooms and only 5 showers, bad planning design.
