Waddon Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Lovely and clean facilities! I tried the new step aerobics class and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend!
Positive experience: Nice warm shallow pool for dinner swimmers, staff are attentive. Centre has ongoing minor repair work in progress, some fixtures and fittings are not working.
Negative experience: No electric car charger.
Negative experience: I’ve noticed concerning behavior during my child’s swimming lessons. It appears the leader gives significantly more attention and patience to white children, even when they resist swimming, while seemingly disregarding the needs of Black children, including my own. This kind of treatment is deeply troubling and doesn’t reflect the inclusive environment I expect for children. I hope this feedback encourages the organization to address the issue and ensure fairness for all students.
Positive experience: It’s ok!
Fantastic experience: Came with my little girl to swim and use the soft play. The staff were really helpful and friendly across the board, and went above and beyond to provide support. Would recommend a visit!
Negative experience: unprofessional staff dirty toilets 0 star
Negative experience: Changing rooms freezing cold dirty to many people over crowded. The swimming pool too cold for the children the stuff rude from the receptionist specially blond girl I can’t remover her name to the very young boys not respect at all shame
Negative experience: Very disappointed!! Turned up for my son’s swimming lesson on Friday 8th November to be told the pools area is now a “no shoes zone” and I have to take my shoes off if I want to get in. The overshoes dispensers were taken away as well. The staff at the door was very distressed as not everyone received the news calmly. I appreciate what and why the management are doing it, but unfortunately, they have disregarded every procedure in introducing something new and they just ploncked it onto everyone without a thought. This is not good management! Yes, the floors are dirty, the toilets rarely cleaned, showers not that warm and a door is missing. What would have been so hard to send an email out or put posters up the week before informing everyone they have to have their own flip flops if they want to access the pools area? Because there were small kids some parents were allowed entrance without taking shoes off so when I had to take my shoes off I had to walk on dirty floors. As this was done for hygiene concerns I can’t really see how this was achieved or is being achieved even now. And guess what, come Saturday morning , the sign for no shoes zone is up, but no one to make sure everyone adheres to the rule. Probably just a hand full of people have taken their shoes off, the rest just carried on walking in with their street shoes on. I know there are a lot of people coming and going from the centre every day so even more so I would have thought properly implementing rules is important. Never have I’ve been put on the spot with something like that. There should always be a notice put up or sent out prior to changing conditions. The staff is briliant and the teachers are kind and knowledgeable, the pools look clean even though the chlorine smell is not as pregnant as other pools, but maybe this is not such a bad thing. But the management of the place leaves to be desired, unfortunately
Negative experience: I recently hosted my son’s second birthday party at Waddon leisure Centre expecting a fun, smooth event. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing due to inadequate service and a lack of responsiveness from management. Throughout the party, it was clear that service was falling short. Staff were inattentive, and the experience didn’t meet the basic expectations for a children’s event. After noticing these issues, I repeatedly asked to speak with a manager to address our concerns. Staff members acknowledged my requests, but they either disappeared or returned without a manager and without any explanation. After the party, I filed a formal complaint, hoping that management would take the concerns seriously and seek to improve future experiences. Instead, I’ve been met only with excuses about short-staffing, without any real acknowledgment of the frustration or a solution to address these issues in the future. I understand that staffing can be a challenge, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of proactive communication or the dismissive handling of my concerns. The disappointing service and lack of responsiveness from management suggest that customer satisfaction is not a priority. I would recommend considering other venues that show more dedication to hosting children’s events in a way that is enjoyable and stress-free for both kids and parents.
Positive experience: The swimming pool looks great! There is a soft play area for little ones.
Fantastic experience: On a lame day at home, decided to take my 18 months old daughter here for soft-play and swimming. The facilities were really lovely and the staff were amazing. The guy at the receptionist desk was an absolute champ!! I don’t remember your name but continue being an amazing soul. Thanks for helping us out. You made this experience a full 5 star!
Negative experience: Payed for 1 hour slot for me and my little boy and there was no warning that they had hired the kids pool out when I was booking! The life guard some snotty little 12 year old looking cow though it was an easy feat telling a 6 year old non swimmer not to go in the small pool as it was booked up
Positive experience: Bit pricey sports hall sessions but overall, good maintained leisure centre
Fantastic experience: Nice quiet clean, friendly classes. Clean changing rooms. Friendly staff. Lovely small soft play area.
Negative experience: Today I had the opportunity to see the worst organization, communication, totally disinterested staff, inexperienced staff, I will never come back, I will not recommend to anyone, First I paid and then I was told what I was offered for my child's party it is very difficult to communicate by email.
Negative experience: Swimming pool area is filthy. The teaching pool is freezing, 17C and the changing area is not heated. The floors are disgusting no shoe covers provided or anyone to discourage people wearing outside shoes in the changing area, so the floor is muddy. The toilets are awful - 3/4 blocked and the fourth one had a broken flusher. The largest locker does not fit a buggy, and there is no space to securely leave your buggy. Soft play is not much better - sensory lights are broken and there is so much dust accumulating it has clearly never been hoovered.
Negative experience: Very disgusting pool and facilities. Toilets completely dirty.. teaching pool was extremely cold and the place is not heat up at all. Area where you dry your area has tiles on the side and the dust accumulated in this area is a sign that it has been sitting there for months possible year!!! It was a shocking yesterday going there for a family time and being surrounded of so much dirt and cold!!!!!
Negative experience: Was not happy with the server Franscesa at the coffee shop, did not line her service at all. I was there with my toddler, we ordered fish and chips, margarita swirl pizza as well. The food was so bad, the dough on the pizza was very hard and I felt like I waited 15-17 minutes just to wait for my food to come. There was co workers talking to her having a chit chat, it’s like she forgot that I ordered some food for myself and my son. Wasted £9.00 at this coffee shop. Never again coming back!
Fantastic experience: I give this review mainly on the Yoga classes. To many kinds in the pool for me. Gym looks nice and spaced out. Could be cleaner if honest and generally always no tourist roll.
Negative experience: Staff are friendly but that’s about it. The halls, eating area and children soft play are clean but the swimming area is disgusting. I’ve never seen anyone cleaning. I’ve only used the small pool with my baby which is extremely cold. She turns blue after 15mins but was the only center than did late sessions during half term. I usually use the Thornton Heath better center which the small pool is warm for the children. There is lots of cubicles but only 2 for parents with baby changers. If they improved on cleanliness and temperature of pool I would come back.
Negative experience: Good standard leisure centre, showere could be better and offer some toys for children. Parking is not free
Positive experience: Took my grandson to a summer holiday activities he loved it
Fantastic experience: Amazing leisure centre, very clean and the staff are great and very helpful, would definitely recommend
Fantastic experience: Beautiful, neat, very friendly and helpful staff, was mad fun, just love this place, its amazing.
Positive experience: Great clean, family orientated center, a nice large pool. Good gym and equipment. There is a choice of quite a few varieties of classes. You need to book early for them, as they fill up quickly.
Negative experience: August Recommended pool temp for babies and young children is 32° they keep their baby pool at 30° all the babies were shivering September my daughter wanted to go swimming. Booked main pool. Everyone cold and shivering despite warm suits. Some children had to leave. Toilets were gross at 10am. Lowering the pool temp for costs is a false economy if people stop swimming because its uncomfortably cold.
Fantastic experience: Waddon Leisure Centre is an awesome spot for some fun and fitness! The swimming facilities are top-notch, and the variety of fitness classes they offer are fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful. Whether you're looking to swim, work out, or just have a good time, Waddon Leisure Centre is the place to be! ♂️
Negative experience: Whoever is responsible for cleaning this place needs to do a better job! the floor and the cubicles are nasty
Negative experience: A man shouted at me for swapping lanes and saying to the lifeguard that I had swooped lanes and he had a Another man with him talking about me behind my back
Positive experience: Love the swimming pool but the staff is a little bit rude like bro stopped a black man and said “wait there” and called bros manager and accused him of stealing like my guy there’s nothing in there to steal so that was rasist
Negative experience: I have taken my son out of swimming lessons at Waddon leisure centre, due to the swimming “teachers” laughing at him for hurting himself whilst jumping into the pool, which was part of his lesson! Three members of staff including the lifeguard thought it was funny to laugh at my son, who is only 6 years old, why Amelie, Kate and Louie laughed at him her response was “we only laughed because we knew he would have hurt himself” This is absolutely disgraceful coming from someone who is meant to be teaching children an extremely important life skill! I raised the matter with the manger that was on site at the time and he didn’t seem interested or bothered what had happened!
Negative experience: Terribly disappointed with my first swimming lesson on 27th May 2024 from 6.45 to 7.30 pm. Only 2 instructors for a group of 15 . One with new learners from scratch, the other with those more advanced. The latter just concentrated on two students leaving the rest to their own devices. How is this a swimming class if no one is teaching? A complete waste of my money. And the changing rooms were dirty. It is unacceptable!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing swimming pool for baby, hot water and also the play ground for children is amazing my son love it.
Positive experience: Good location for public transport as well as driving. Pool is well maintained but changing rooms could definitely do with a deep clean!
Negative experience: Quite dirty swimming pool area, especially showers. I've never seen a cleaner there during a day. They started to play very loud music during the day. Not particularly kids friendly. Overcrowded teaching pool, they allow more than 1 person with a child, so often whole families with just 1 baby Facilities in poor conditions, showers not maintained, cold water often, cold air. Not friendly to the neurodivergent people. Not enough disabled spaces outside.
Negative experience: Needs a good clean toilets and changing room facilities are dirty
Fantastic experience: The member of Staff I spoke to was extremely efficient . However I did mention that it would be helpful if there was a direct line contact if we wanted to speak to a person on the phone if we had any queries.
Negative experience: I enrolled my son in swimming lessons in development silver. He started silver level since Aug 2023 and he was doing well swimming in all the silver activities. The swim assessor teacher Kate is no care to assess the kids. Few of the activities were assessed in January and when we asked why you are not updating then they just have excuses. Quite frustrating, even after complaining to her manager Sarah, not able to listen. It's waste of time here.
Fantastic experience: Parking for the gym members is not free, such a disappointment.
Fantastic experience: Top staff who always go above and beyond for instance when I thought I lost my earphone case by leaving it in the lockers they checked thoroughly and even promised to look out in the future. Always clean and well kept facility also.
Positive experience: Wadfon Leisure Centre has the friendliest people. The Gym is never too busy.
Negative experience: This is the Better Gym where I signed up too when I joined. I attended for a couple of years, my children even done their swimming lesson here, then I have recently decided to stop coming to this one simply because there is a huge issue with cleanliness in this gym. Got tired of attending classes first thing in the morning to be greeted by filthy floors. If they held an event ( say a party) on a Saturday, or Friday the following morning the floor wasn’t clean. When you tell them at reception you get excuses of ‘sorry we’re short staffed’. Even the gym itself is unclean with members leaving empty energy drink cans and dirty tissues laying about the place, but then again if the staff don’t even care to keep the place clean then the members will follow suit. Swimming pool area also not kept clean with no one checking regularly to make sure it is up to standard. Unacceptable. I have a nationwide membership with Better and have been to enough of their gyms to know this is an isolated issue with this gym. I don’t use this one anymore and don’t intend on using it again while these issues remain the same. I’ve also had other issues with this gym which I won’t bother to mention but when you try to speak to on duty managers they are of no help. They don’t want to deal with your issue. That is why I extend my membership to go to other Better gym instead. I’m glad I did this as there is so many better branches than this one.
Negative experience: Equipments are not calibrated, not updated. Some of the Lockers needs repairing as you can't lock using padlocks...
Fantastic experience: A suprise gem excellent pool first class includibg showers abd changing and very reasonable price..on of the best pools iwithin M25
Positive experience: Friendly leisure centre with good facilities, swimming pool floor is slippery for aqua aerobics though so do wear water shoes
Positive experience: Review from perspective of mother of two, soon to be 3yo and 1 yo. Soft play is great, my 2/3yo loves it there, and has a small but sufficient zone for baby. Does get quite busy on a weekend but is fine. Cafe is nice for a coffee and cake, they even have a tasty vegan option. Seating is super close. It's not monitored so have to be careful children don't escape whilst people come in and out. Also used the teaching pool with the baby, during the week very empty - bit basic - no specific toys or floats we could use but otherwise nice pool and baby enjoyed it. Main gripe is with the changing and shower facilities. As an adult totally fine but with children no area is suitable. The disabled shower has no baby changing table, and the baby changing room has no shower. So had to use the regular shower whilst holding the baby, as couldn't fit roaming baby table into shower cubicle. Then had to rush to the baby changing room before baby got too cold, to get him changed and ready, then no where to put him whilst I got ready so had to hold him and try and balance to change. Not ideal. So far the place with best setup is west Wickham leisure centre, which has now unfortunately closed. They had a number of shower rooms with baby table and changing bench and hooks. Exactly what you need! Pools take note!
Positive experience: Very clean and friendly staff
Positive experience: Swimming is a life skill. Lessons here are very valuable. Kids will enjoy the best lessons and learn from the best. Clean and safe.
Positive experience: Most definitely the warmest baby pool around. I've been to many pools aound the area and some are far too cold to even last 30mins of swimming. Waddon's baby pool is 30°C and my children and I had a lovely full hours long play. Thank you to Waddon for keeping pool standards. We will be back. Xx
Positive experience: The pool is clean and the water quite warm, however, the changing village and toilets are really dirty. The gym is small but you can see the street over the window.
Positive experience: I didn't use the full leisure facilities only the soft play. But it was easy to book at the desk, the staff were lovely and it wasn't too busy so nice for my 1yr old to explore. Like that the cafe is right next to it and others can come in and sit at the cafe.
Positive experience: Me and my son and my grand children, went to this leisure centre to spend a couple of hrs at the soft play,my first visit to this place and going off 1st impressions the facilities looked first class and went away impressed.
Fantastic experience: I will be going to Waddon Leisure Centre for twelve months from January-December 2024 except for every third weekend when I'm at my dad and his carer and cleaner Elaine's Home in Hillbury Road (SW17).
Fantastic experience: Good leisure centre with all the relevant facilities like swimming, gym etc. there is a nice little cafe for waiting inside. However, parking is an issue as it's right next to five ways, a busy thoroughfare.
Positive experience: Very good leisure center with all facilities
Positive experience: Great lap pool. Go twice a week and swim a mile each time.
Negative experience: I wish there was zero star, because that’s what I would give for cleanliness. I have only been to the pool area and it is so filthy, the cupboards, floors, bathrooms, walls etc extremely dirty. The toilet is a nightmare, don’t even go there. There should be strict standards for customers, because people tend to drop hair around and go into the pool with no cap. I would be happy to pay higher for the lessons, if I could get better hygiene results. The staff are lovely, they deserve 5stars.
Positive experience: I have booked swimming lessons for my daughter. The place itself is great, with lots of facilities and a nice pool. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the swimming teachers are absolutely amazing- my daughter was making a visible progress by the second lesson. The downside is, as mentioned by previous reviews, the cleanliness of changing facilities, including showers and toilets and I hope that it will be improved.
Negative experience: Way overpriced for merchandise, seems items you get for £1 cost a £10 in here , daughter hert her leg on lifted drainage and lifeguard just said sorry without even checking it out, she cracked the bone , thanks alot !!!!
Fantastic experience: Easy to find and well laid out with plenty of signs. Cafe available and adjacent parking but limited time. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: Rude , not trained staff ! People and the manager are rude , not customer focused service. It's really shame that staff is not monitored by croydon council or address any complaints , concerns. We just had a disappointing experience , where one staff says one thing and another staff tells you the opposite. I booked soft play for a small group of kids and was told initially that we can use café facilities , order drinks and okay to bring our own snacks , food . As we were there , the café lady asked us to pack the food away as we cannot bring our own food. The manager was very furiously speaking that we cannot bring our own food as like you do not go to MacDonalds with your own food , repeatedly screaming " would you !? Would you!? Bring your own food to MacDonalds? " . At every single table people were sitting and eating their own food brought from outside or others just sitting as like in a waiting area . It's understandable if when I spoke with the guy the week before , confirming soft play booking and that we would use café facilities , order drinks and some food. Anyway , the case was handled unwell , no options offered. We were just shouted at , woman in café refused to sell us drinks before i would pack away kids fruit ,&veg . Her attitude was aggressive which means unprofessional . She was not willing to make business for her café , the variety of offered food and drinks is very poor and triple of the price from the neibouring big Morrison next to Waddon Leasure Centre. All I wanted , the kids to have a good time and my lil girl turning 3 y.o. to play with her friends. I have spent reasonable amount of money there to book soft play , £50 for an hour. I was happy to buy drinks and food there. Just again if I knew initially , I would have organised the evening differently. Overall I am pretty sure , that nothing will be improved or done to prevent this silly situations in the future. I feel slightly disappointed as have not been communicated properly. Just overall a very embarrassing experience. No communication , no notes that food cannot be eaten if outside. Most of the time the waddon leasure café is closed and cannot be predicted when is open. The café lady and the manager were both very rude and insisting their business loosing money ( insisting on booking party packages) and careless for customers or offering any options for resolution. Regardless any complaints been made before, there is never resolution or professional handling.i am quite disappointed with the communication , staff attitude , problem solving. I do think the centre needs a better system , outlined rules in place , clear notes to customers, better operating for the offered facilities. It should not be okay for everyone else and no for others. People need to be flexible ,polite , professional. The body language , aggressive attitude is probably ollgettingvto something "normal - okay " in croydon, which is sad. I cannot speak louder than even one star is too much.
Positive experience: Found the gym a bit disappointing with many machines out of order. Also a shame that parking isn't free. But I understand most people park in Morrisons across the road!
Positive experience: Very friendly staff. Only three stars because there are lots of restrictions on when the pool is available.
Positive experience: as a swimmer I’ve seen my fair share of pools and I think the pool here is really lovely! The changing areas can be a bit on the dirty side sometimes but nothing too bad though I usually use the bathrooms in the bigger locker room since the ones by the pool can smell pretty bad. i’ve been coming to swim laps here for a few weeks now and it’s generally not too crowded. the rules of the lane swimming can be a bit frustrating and sometimes it can be hard to swim continuously if you are faster but generally I’ve found I can just move over or go to another lane. you do have to bring a coin for the locker if u want to lock them.
Positive experience: Positives: Convenient to get to and clean pool and changing facilities (compared to some other Better centers) I like the children's swimming lessons offered and the swim pool Swim teacher is lovely, respectful and knows children by name. Negatives: Soft play is not monitored and I'm not sure if it's cleaned properly. Have come across some children walking in with shoes which is not allowed... Horrible woman at the café. We pay membership (over £40) and after swimming lessons my 3 year old is hungry and due to dietary requirements has to eat her own food rather than café bought food and the woman loudly told us we aren't allowed to eat there (even though several other people were eating their own food there with kids) I found her very selective on who she was targeting. Definitely came across as racist because she didn't seem to mind the others eating their own food. I spoke to the manager about it, it's not like we've never bought from the café and we do pay membership so if I feed my daughter some dry food at the table, what's the issue? I literally took less than 30 mins. Once we bought ice cream from there and my 3yr old took a bit long to choose and the woman was getting annoyed. Seriously give her a chance, she's only 3! Where is humanity gone in this day and age :/
Positive experience: place is ok, but for swimming sessions teacher aren't helpful whoever willing to learn first time.
Negative experience: Terrible swimming pool and rude staff. Pool is colder than average. Most the changing room locks are broken and the place was filthy. If you’re going with kids be sure to check their ridiculous rules before booking! If you go with a child under 8 you are forced to stay in a small section of the pool behind a red line even if they can swim! This means that end of the pool is rammed with people, making it difficult to practice swimming. Kids over 8 have to do a swim test before they can go over the red line. Never heard anything like it at any other pool. Do they think the parents are incapable of monitoring their kids!? The pool is only 1.7m deep at the deepest end! My 8 year old isn’t the strongest swimmer but swam the 30m length for the test. The lifeguard then said he still didn’t pass the test as he wasn’t good enough. What a horrible thing to say in front of a child who is learning to swim. Really knocked his confidence and showed a real lack of care. Spoke to the manager who couldn’t have cared less and advised we just come back when it’s not as busy! Another lifeguard heard some of the exchange and came over to say the rules are pathetic and they wouldn’t pay to swim here. Won’t be returning as we basically paid £19 to swim in a tiny section of the pool which was over crowded (less safe than letting people swim where they want!).
Negative experience: Be aware that if you child is under 8 they are forbidden to swim in 3/4’s of this pool, over 8’s have to do a 30 metre test and be “good enough” with good strokes to then be able to swim the full pool. No diving what so ever. The shallow end, 1/4 of the pool, was so busy it was actually dangerous with then an empty rest of the pool. Kids can’t jump in the pool as they aren’t allowed I. The deep end and the shallow end is way to shallow to jump into they could damage their legs. I don’t understand how that is safe and fair for children to go and try and improve their swimming with no space in the shallow end and no access to the rest of the pool. Find an alternative pool!
Fantastic experience: The receptionist was helpful as it was my first session at the pool. The pool was clean as we're the changing rooms , plenty of hot water to shower afterwards .
Positive experience: I was planning to take my little ones to the soft play area at the centre only to realise how small it was in real life in comparison to the online photos.
Positive experience: Better than a lot of the other Better gyms within the borough
Negative experience: 2 males receptionists are very rude! Never say hello or bye, and when you need them they don’t help you or they talk to you very badly! The gym is expensive and now it’s very difficult to get the chance to go to the swimming pool when you want. Will check to find another gym, not happy at all.
Negative experience: This facility is very convenient from where I live, and I've been using the pool 2-3 times a week but as of yesterday I've cancelled my membership. The poolside staff is completely oblivious to the pool etiquette, as they often invite their friends or relatives who do not observe the rules. The pool looks like a public beach, and majority is occupied by people who are not swimming, or playing with inflatable balls. Slow swimmers are in fast lane (which is way too narrow anyway), and occasionally you get younglings wandering in the way of swimmers while lifeguards are just chatting each other not paying attention whatsoever. In a nitshell, great facility ran by people who couldn't cqre less
Positive experience: The parking is heavily subsidised for electric and hybrid vehicles up to 90%off. We ended paying just 65p for a 3 hour stay. This is the first time we came to Waddo Leisure centre. We booked 1 hour swimming followed by 1 hour soft play for our 2 girls aged 5 and 7. We were greeted quickly as it was not so busy, it being a school holiday period. Pur details were found on the system anf we entered the pool area. Changing areas were plenty, neat, and organised. Showers were the same. Swimming pools were well manned. At least 4 staff were visible during the 1 hour time slot we had. The only issue was how shallow the learners pool was. It was only 0.6 metre deep and 0.9 metre deep at the deepest end. I think this is not deep anough for adults to comfortably teach kids how to swim. However, if you have newborn or babies then this would be ideal. If you pay for kids pool you can't enter adult pool, and vice versa. There is a cafeteria near the soft play which is convenient ti keep an eye on the kids. Overall we were happy with this venue, jist the kids pool could have been a few inches deeper. We wiuld be happy to return. 4 stars.
Positive experience: I attend regularly because it is the most affordable option near me. Bathrooms are consistently disgusting to the extent it’s a struggle to find a toilet to use that isn’t filthy. I have found first thing in the morning to be the only exception. Such a shame because the pool is nice.
Positive experience: Great gym and pool. Instructors are very knowledgeable. Toilets, changing rooms and showers need to be cleaner.
Negative experience: Used to be a great facility, but it's gone down hill and costs more. You are lucky if you have 2 shower stalls working (and hot) with doors. Air con hardly ever on. Toilets are horrible, and floors are not clean (even when watching staff try to clean it, it just seems to get the top layer) Classes are great when the instructors come in. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and approachable. Like everything these days, feels like your paying more for less. In need of improvement
Negative experience: Today17/6/2023 I took my daughter and her cousin swimming. To only find out when they got out of the swimming pool that her slippers had been stolen. I reported this issue to the manager on-site at 17:09, and he couldn't care. As a senior manager, this man had no empathy for what had happened. I had to tell him do you want to take my details in case it was found or someone realised they had taken it. No initiative from him, which so ever highly disappointing. I don't know if I'm more annoyed at the fact she got her shows taken or the lack of empathy from this manager who didn't even ask how we were getting home and did no care. He needs training and I will take this further not acceptable at all.
Positive experience: Started swimming here a couple of months ago. I was sceptical to be honest but it's been great so far. The teachers update the progress of the kids on the app so you can see exactly where the kids are at and where they need to practice. The membership let's you use the swimming facilities on the weekend too. It's a win win for me. The only downside was that you have to pay a setup fee for each individual which cost me an extra £40 since I have 4 kids there.
Negative experience: Since the Better has taken over - this has been going down and continues to slide. Swimming Pool - perhaps most used services here. More than half the showers doesn't work, some are broken in a way that they do not stop (staff couldn't care less), changing rooms and area never gets any kind of cleaning. It's yuk! It's a shame that such a nice place is now ruined. Some of the staff are just door operators. They don't know anything. They tell you to go online and do it. Perhaps too much money spent on technology while basic real services are suffering.
Negative experience: Very disappointed from waddon leisure centre, since 3 weeks they leave their Water fountain without filter and also very disgusting toilets. With the increasing the price this month I was expecting an area more clean and safe but…!
Positive experience: The gym is quite small; pool is quite crowded, but would highly recommend the badminton courts.
Positive experience: Love the pool. At 17c it is the perfect temperature for swimming. Having just been for the first time in a while, I agree with other recent reviewers that the floors and cubicles in the "changing village" were dirty, worthy of a Code Brown in one aisle. However, the staff were really helpful and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Great soft play area for kids at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this soft play area. Kids under 8 can have a great time here
Fantastic experience: My first time back in the gym for a good few years. The receptionist was amazing and very helpful with my bombardment of questions. Even though I only used the pool for my first visit, I will deffo go back there for the sake of the pool, but have yet to try there gym area. Cant wait for my next visit.
Positive experience: Went for a swim, one off, no membership. Easy too book, easy entry by scanning bar code using the phone app, not crowded at 10am, could be cleaner in the changing cabins, but overall reasonably clean.
Negative experience: Lack of care, Children's soft play area and cafeteria no hand sanatiser stations. We all know that germs spread around our little kids. So went to the toilets to wash hands both toilets completely out of soap. Person behind counter said were out at the moment. How fo they get away witj it erasing thousands each day from parents..
Fantastic experience: Awesome shuttlecock court ...its our favorite hang out spot... Tried many sport centre around Croydon ....it is one of the best
Positive experience: We go here for a weekly swim. All together a good place for a membership.
Positive experience: Great facility, nice and modern however you can tell they cut corners on the construction. Doesn't affect your experience.
Negative experience: swimming pool lessons - poor service is just for fun, if you think to bring your kids here they will not make any progress ( performance) they will be in the same stage for looong time …
Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre. Probably have one of the best local softplay area. Very clean and safe for kids. Haven't use the pool yet but it looks nice aswel.
Fantastic experience: I mainly use the swimming pool and it is rarely very full, a bit more busy in the early morning but there is enough space for everyone. Lots of lockers (you will need £1 coin), hair dryers are available and they even have swimsuit water extractor. It is also fairly clean (considering what users sometimes leave behind and many enter the pool area in their shoes even though they should not) but showers could use a little bit of upgrade. Staff I talked to was always very nice and super helpful and provided detailed explanation for my questions.
Positive experience: Staff under pressure at the reception. The female there needs a significant payrise with the issues I saw her deal with. People using the centre were rude and loud. I could see she was at breaking point
Positive experience: Classes are super fun and help stay motivated on the fitness journey. Gym is well equipped. In case of no show for a class, £3 are payable for members.
Fantastic experience: Love the softplay area for my toddler - a local hidden gem that's usually quiet and affordable. It has slides, ball bits, ball court, bridges and tunnels and lots to climb and jump on.
Negative experience: Came here one day a week of months, really gone down hill! Place is filthy, overcrowded pools& unhelpful staff
Positive experience: Relatively clean pool and facilities although toilets can be a mess at times. Unfortunately they do not take cash which can be quite frustrating. The car parking takes coins and card and is quite cheap £1.50 or so for a couple of hours, if you want free parking then a few streets walk away there is on street parking available. They hve a large pool and a tiny pool for little ones too approx 1 ft deep. Showers are too hot for little ones usually abs have a lot of pressure in them and are open for all to see (directly in front of the pools) and the changing rooms are mixed too. Lockers need £1 coin. They sell arm bands £7.50 but goggles are expensive. The in house Cafe is rarely open on Sundays but looks closed…?
Positive experience: Really a nice centre. The softplay is lovely. The swimming pools are great. The gym seems nice. Parking is good. Only thing that brought my 5 stars down to 4 was the state of the floors in the dressing/toilet/etc areas at the pools. Otherwise, good place to go.
