Everlast Gyms - St Helens Milverny

Positive experience: I've been coming here for years, but it's being run down things taking ages to get fixed.things broke for weeks

Fantastic experience: very good

Negative experience: Good gym, some amazing staff...poor place to be in st.helens. everything getting robbed in the men's changing room and the whole gym falling to bits.

Negative experience: Dirty dirty dirty. They have one good cleaner. A lot of equipment doesn't work

Positive experience: Pretty good gym, lots of space and variety of machines, seem to be well maintained. Memberships prices are pretty good for what you get. Staff are nice and helpful people. Would reccomend

Positive experience: Nice gym, plenty of classes (yoga, spin etc) really friendly staff, and has a medium sized pool that I'd personally wanted which, when empty, or not too busy, is great, unfortunately, it being that size means (peak times) gets a bit cluttered (especially when you get the "wannabe" Olympic swimmers in there that have no manners, and think plowing through other swimmers is acceptable) also that has a safe set of tiled steps down into it, and the pool isn't too deep at all, there's also 2x sets of step ladders, 1x at each end, which unfortunately, 1 of has a sign on (since July) that aren't to be used as apparently damaged, which again, haven't been repaired. There's a covered (no longer usable) jacuzzi, that we were told (back in July) would be being fixed, it hasn't been.. Also a steam room (again, something I'd really wanted) unfortunately, they don't seem to clean the steam room (walls) ever, thus there's mold on there that people have been marking, which never seems to get cleaned, which is grim... (am assuming they do the floors)

Positive experience: Great pool always clean clean changing rooms with good hairdryer 2 things I would say is changing rooms are always really cold and the showers the is no pressure so had to have shower after

Negative experience: Stop this downgrading of your gym or perhaps you don't care! The manager has been causing a lot of damage, in every way possible. He lacks business insight, makes poor decisions and has no regard for customers or staff. Owners invisible! Your business’s reputation is hugely damaged. Credibility, trust, and loyalty are hard to build. 1. Poor Gym Hygiene Conditions 2. Staffing Issues (staff resigned because of the manager) 3. Lack of Attention -poorly handled complaints. 4. Customers have been cancelling membership 5. Overcrowded Pool- due to broken Jacuzzi The manager is up to no good-Last time there was a "refurbishment" (for no apparent reason, they just took away clocks and most mirrors), the best instructors, staff and many customers left. A member of staff left in tears after the manager gave her a piece of his mind. Appalling business approach.

Positive experience: Surprised how quiet it was at 7.30pm but not complaining. Seems very friendly. Equipment ok some looks a little dated but easy and good to use. Pool is good and steam room excellent. Shame that Everlast have got rid of all spas, jacuzzi is good after workout. Thanks for a good workout and pleasant evening.

Fantastic experience: I use this gym in the morning, generally week-days between 0645 and 0830 when it's not overly busy. The gym has a good area for whole body Olympic style weightlifting exercises and derivatives. It also has a good range of strength training equipment - free weights and machines, an extensive range of cardiovascular machines and a generous area for functional training. (Could possibly do with 1 extra ski erg!) The pool area is a bonus with a steam room and jacuzzi. The staff I have met have all been fantastic. Quality gym. Negative experience: I joined this gym last year, I have now relocated to Salford. I have been trying to cancel my membership, as I was told I could, for a month now being passed from pillar to post and now told I can’t as there is one 8 miles away! Appalling service from Everlast gyms. No customer service number for support. Avoid.

Negative experience: Outdated much equipment not fit for purpose. Connectivity on machines nine existent. Took over a month to get exit button from gym fixed. E mailed manager no reply .....

Fantastic experience: Great place and friendly

Negative experience: This place has really had its day. The standards dropped significantly when the previous manager, Collette, left. Since her departure hygiene standards have never been the same. Broken tiles in the showers are still broken after months. The tiles in the steam room have baked in dirt and grime around the edges, and the jacuzzi has had more faults in the last 12 months than any other jacuzzi I know - it’s either incredibly bad luck which has repeated itself multiple times, or simply switched off to save money. Given the pool temperature has clearly been turned down too I think we can guess which it is.

Fantastic experience: Its really very Nice stuff nad place

Negative experience: The pool is always cold and unclean. The jacuzzi is never working. The steam rooms’ mosaic tiles have all mostly fallen out on the seats and been badly patched in with some form of cement/grout! You can see mold spores on the ceiling which is really off putting. The changing rooms are dated and filthy. The shower area is a mess. Broken down cubicles and freezing cold, dribbling water. The gym is also lacking decent sanitation and missing quite a few good machines. The whole place is just in desperate need of a refurbishment. This years membership has been such a massive disappointment as I used to love coming here 18 years ago when it was JJB and had much higher standards! Both my husband and I have now cancelled our memberships.

Positive experience: Decent equipment and friendly enough staff. Downsides are... extremely busy between 5pm and 7.30pm. The gym isn't the cleanest either. Equipment can take a while to repair when they are faulty.

Fantastic experience: Great staff and clean

Positive experience: Great gym with lots of facilities. Nice and clean everywhere. Lovely staff always willing to help . Just need to have more cleaning stations for the customers to clean the equipments before and after use. Other than that it’s on a nice convenient location for parking and shopping.

Negative experience: Has the opportunity to be such a good gym but let down by so many little things. The gym itself is good with good equipment but it all needs replacing with newer stuff, a lot of the machines break easily and there is always a leak somewhere in the roof so you often get dripped on! The gym is always dirty as well and changing rooms are old and dated but I don’t think Everlast care. At £30 a month it’s not exactly the cheapest gym a month. Like I said it could be great if stuff got sorted out. Sort it out Everlast!

Negative experience: shocking staff, took more money out of my bank then it should have been, rang up and the staff had no communication

Negative experience: Sat here while 20 guys try and use 5 weight benchs this place is a joke and needs double the number of free weight benchs!

Fantastic experience: Would be here a lot more often if I had the chance. Work and other things keep me from getting here more frequently, I love it here though, always manage to get a good workout in and leave feeling fulfilled, only negative right now is the jacuzzi is broken again, but the sauna was extra warm today so it made up for it. Great selection of free weights and exercise stations. My favourite being the ab station, you can really feel it working your stomach. Great place, lovely atmosphere and no gym creeps.

Negative experience: The pool is always cold and the Jacuzzi doesn’t work at all. It’s really dirty.

Negative experience: Went for the sauna ,jacuzzi and pool. Sauna not working Jacuzzi not working And the pool area was colder than outside ,water too.

Positive experience: Good gym, plenty of equipment, decent size pool too. Bit gutted there's no more TRX workout straps though since it changed from DW to Everlast Gym. Staff are great though, always really helpful, polite and professional.

Fantastic experience: Really spacious gym with great equipment and the changing rooms were huge. Definitely worth the money.

Negative experience: Over 4 months since a massive mirror has been smashed. It still hasn’t been fixed. New manager?? On the way of cancellation. The gym is absolutely filthy, no one cleans the floors or the machines, which are full of sweat marks, the matts are lost or misplaced, at -7 degrees showers were not working, water was freezing cold most days early in the morning NO NOTICE OF THIS whatsoever. People do go to work and NEED to wash before but no one there cares, there have been made numerous complaints about this at the reception and online, still nothing has been done. I have attached pictures below which my husband (whom gas a membership) has took in his lockers of what a disgrace this is. I really wonder which manager doesn’t see this? Are they this ignorant? How is this allowed?? When this gym was bought by Everlast it all went wrong. We are both cancelling out memberships next month, a pity as we loved training with Phil.

Fantastic experience: Amazing environment, lovely staff…a great place to relax, unwind and work out.

Positive experience: Been member 8 yrs. Plenty of issues in recent times due to lack of investment and staff departures . Recently a new manager and some new staff and signs of improvement , with some recent repairs eg new boiler system for the pool. When everything is working its a fab place to visit . A refurbishment is needed and is apparently going to happen at some point but for now things seem to be moving back in the right direction.

Fantastic experience: Good place to sweat out, has good facilities and a decent crowd throughout the week. One can rest in the pool, steam room, sun room, etc..,. Suggestible place.

Negative experience: Very tired and facilities always breaking down. Visit the jacuzzi at least 3 times a week and you can bet it will be cold at least 1 in 3 times. The whole place need stripping out and starting again. Supposed to be a premium gym. A far cry from the one in leigh

Negative experience: Having been a member of DW for years, the sports direct take over has been incredibly disappointing, on an ever decreasing scale. Whilst a lick of paint and gym make-over has occurred (branding), unfortunately it lacks many previous popular machines/ basics and somehow tries to boast a mortifyingly horrific class selection, all for the same price as DW! -which offered everything members required. All the previous and infamous instructors to the area have left due to Everlast’s low standards in one respect or another, and so have a significantly huge portion of the members. When there are issues, staff contradict themselves, are rude or dismissive and offer you to leave for another gym- remarkable customer service, NOT. Trying to escalate a complaint doesn’t exist, and even on the slim chance of being contacted by the regional manager, nothing gets done. Incredibly inadequate at the role. It’s safe to say that Everlast looks after it’s staff but not it’s members, which ironically keep the place open. There’s absolutely no vibe to this gym anymore. Certainly no community as such like there was for many years. From the temperamental swipe in system and the hideous booking classes set up- with punishment strikes (I mean we are adults right? And staff often tell you just to attend, so what’s the point?!) to the dated changing rooms, disgustingly unclean showers and vile pool (water is cloudy from kids pee as swimming lessons for them are a priority unfortunately)/ jacuzzi and steam room (that men sit shaving in) this is certainly NOT worth £32 a month. No sir! I do not recommend this facility anymore, save yourself the money and do as most have- choose another gym.

Fantastic experience: Nice staff, same facilities as when it operated as DW , bit of a makeover on the main reception area and lighting changed in the pool area . Changing rooms are still cold Unfortunately there isn't a great selection of classes. But they did send an email a few months ago to say they are looking at it.

Negative experience: Joined this gym for the pool, go after work, always got kids getting lessons taking up a third of the pool whilst 6 to 8 people then try and cram in 2 lanes, utter pain.

Fantastic experience: What a place, I've never seen as much free todge in my life, just windmill after windmill, well worth joining. I'm not sure what the gym or pool is like. But for different shape marshmellows, Join in the fun...

Negative experience: This gym has got worse since everlast has taken over it. The heavy bags feel like they're filled with cement. The heavy bag stand is inferior to what they had before, you can no longer use the heavy bags for kick boxing practice which previously wasn't an issue.. I recently had a member of staff come over to remove me from using the heavy bag as I didn't have proper boxing gloves on and told me I couldn't use it unless I had trainers on. For someone who's practiced multiple martial arts for 25 years this kind of treatment and werid rules over the use of a heavybag and the downgrade in this particular part of the gym is a major turn off for me and I think I'll be looking for a new gym in the near future.

Negative experience: Recently returned to this gym. Mould in the showers and steam room. Most of the equipment is broken in some way. The only good thing about this place is the PT team absolutely class. And Chris lodge is outstanding.

Negative experience: Gym induction was good & plenty of sanitisers about in there. The pool however, every time I go has plasters and tissues floating around in there,it's grubby everywhere which isn't good in covid times, it should be super clean. The poolside shower floor was slimy & slippy. The showers are not cleaned & often smell. Understand all the cleaners were finished & offered new zero hours contracts, which most declined, probably why its got so grubby. Men are shaving in the steam room & around the poolside in front of the mirrors despite being told not to. They can't even provide a lock to buy for the lockers why? Too many people are often in the pool, especially on a Sunday morning. Doubt I'll be staying if they don't get their act together with the cleaning at least.

Positive experience: Great selection of equipment only bad thing is they took the monkey bar rig out in the refurbishment
