St Ives Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: Really had a great experience at this leisure centre over the past year! All the staff are very very helpful and I absolutely love my classes here, especially my classes with Gemma. She is a fantastic instructor and her body pump classes have reignited my love of fitness! She is SO inclusive. Nobody is singled out, everyone is made feel so welcome which is something I was very scared about when I first started here! She really focuses on functional fitness and has such great knowledge about exercise and I truly now feel so much stronger and healthier in my day to day life. If you get the opportunity to attend a class of hers please do they are fantastic!

Negative experience: Good range of gym equipment, although repairs to equipment are generally slow to be fixed. There were three treadmills and one side of the cable machine out of service for weeks and weeks. "Better", the company that runs the centre seems to have fallen behind on investing in the centre and has poor customer service, though the staff in the centre itself are great. Good pool, and the best views of any leisure centre anywhere. They have dropped Pilates classes, which is a shame, and booking classes is difficult as they tend to be oversubscribed due to limited availability. However the membership price increases and lack of investment and timely repairs to equipment mean that after being a member since 2016, I'm now changing gym to a more up to date, better looked after one. "Better" leisure centres company needs to improve and reconsider pricing Vs service they offer.

Positive experience: We only used the car park but the place looked amazing through the windows. Has gym and pool that looked great. Just wish we had more time to go in

Positive experience: We parked on the car park to visit St Ives. Very hilly walking down to the town but you can get a bus down and back. £6 for 5 hours

Fantastic experience: good price

Negative experience: Poor customers service, so difficult to make a simple phone call to ask a simple question, ..... call the number provided get 8 different options, ended up speaking in an Indian bloke who didn't know what St Ives leisure centre was or never heard of it, absolute joke.

Positive experience: Went with the family for a 5 year old Birthday party. Helpful persons on the reception and the room was clean and big plus lots of tables and chairs. There was a amplifier and speaker which came in handy. The cost included an hour in the children's pool which alot of the children said they really enjoyed. Good value for money.

Negative experience: Opening times on website are false. I’ve visited during the summer and the winter and it is always closed when it is supposed to be open - waited 30mins + after the opening time on lots of occasions

Positive experience: Bit confused, this is the only gym I've used where men work out in their work wear they've been in all day. Also, could do with a proper deep clean.

Positive experience: A rather disappointing leisure complex in the lovely town of St Ives. Having arrived for the 1330 family swim with five minutes to spare we were pleased. However, with just one member of staff on the front desk and two customers in front of us needing sign up information and instructions, we lost the first ten minutes of the session. The locker cost is 25p but it is a one use only token which means if you need to revisit your locker during the session, you are unable to re lock it. The lifeguard on the infant pool made the most of his time sat on his platform by rooting around in both his ears and his nose. We even made eye contact but this didn’t seem to dissuade him. Apart from a few floats and noodles, oh and a rather small slide for sub 8 year olds only, there was little to entertain children and boredom set in very quickly. For a popular seaside resort this centre meets only the minimum requirements for a leisure centre and could do so much more to attract visitors. Not surprising that we were five of about a dozen visitors.

Fantastic experience: Very nice place to visit but very very busy good idea to have bus available to bottom from coach park.

Negative experience: Gym instructor was very rude and unkind as well as unhelpful. Instead of helping me as a beginner to learn new exercises he was talking to one of his friends for the entirety of our session. This guy is not the hero of Cornwall and needs to be fired immediately

Fantastic experience: Its very good with motivated staff, great classes and the gym has the best view across St Ives and over the sea . Decent cafe too.

Fantastic experience: Visited exclusively for the family swim in the junior pool. Our kids (4 and 2) absolutely loved it and an hour was just the right amount of time. Fun slide and toys in the pool as well as great facilities that are clean and spacious. Wasn't busy at all during the week.

Negative experience: I am physically disabled and I like to work out in the gym for 1 hour then move on to change for 1 hour swim, then shower and change in a male changing room. Carrying a walking stick, and my outdoor dry clothes between a locker and into a tiny changing room will cause my dry clothes to become wet, when carrying them is impossible, whereas a male changing room where I can shower in a all male room is far easier as I am not worried if my towel drops and I can shower properly and naked before I travel home

Fantastic experience: Good friendly leisure centre. Only went there for the gym but the staff were very accommodating. Only downside is it’s a bit pricey and you have to pay for parking

Positive experience: Good facilities, ample changing and showers. Frustratingly, went to a children's session which was supposed to be 32 degrees but the water was freezing. She normally loves swimming but cried for the first time in a pool and really didn't want to be there. We had to leave earlier and now one day later she has a cold.

Fantastic experience: Sessions are 60 mins £6 an adult, under 3's go free. Overall, it was a bargain! Water was warm enough for our 9 week old baby and our 4 year old could stand up everywhere in the kids pool. Lockers are only 25p and you can pay for it using a card or contactless Google pay etc. Parking is brilliant although you do pay for it with a barrier style system. Loads of parent child parking right beside the venue too. Changing rooms were clean and really easy to herd the kids to the pool as it's really easy access. The kids pool is a good size and there were only 2 other families in there when we visited at 10am. Big box full of floats and my 4 year old really enjoyed the little slide. The cafe was well priced £10.40 for 2 huge pieces of cake, a blueberry muffin, flat white, kids squash and cup of tea. Staff were very polite indeed. Possibly the best thing about St Ives so far on our trip as we didn't feel ripped off, we had fun and it was really calming. Just got home and both kids are asleep. Priceless!

Positive experience: Excellent, really helpful,lady in coffee shop really friendly and as booking slot needed to wait for slot for 20 minutes so had a coffee. Swimming was ideal for us as we did not want to go to a crowded place. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is showers( although working fine) could do with updating.

Positive experience: Gym with a view. Had enough weight equipment to get a maintenance workout done, with lots of cardio machines. Wouldn't recommend if looking for serious gainz!

Fantastic experience: Big parking full of spaces, a bit steep but as usual in Cornwall. You pay at the end so good not to have to calculated how long do we need to stay, but we didn’t have to show our ticket to come out, the barrier open itself .

Ask for the app Free parking when you are a member and using the Centre. 9 disabled parking places Good customer service with easy to speak to staff. UK government Covid-19 guidelines in place.As 2 pools 1x 25m 1x baby pool on the ground floor with a medium size work out gym with free weights on the 1st floor.Also access from the entrance is a very fine cafeteria with excellent customer service. disability accessible Cafe open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. quality food with outside seating very reasonable prices good tasty food order from the counter but table service covid-19 government guidelines in place

Fantastic experience: Today we enjoyed a very Covid-secure family swim. Easy to navigate their booking system. Friendly staff. The best things about this pool are unaffected by these unusual times: wide lanes, clean facilities, amazing views, the relative quietness in comparison to the brummy-heavy craziness of Fore Street and the harbour!

Showers after using the pool could do with an renovation and possibly the floor. Reasonably priced for a swim there is a baby pool and a main pool available which the kids pools is heated. There is also a cafe inside and lifeguards always there.

Positive experience: Only ever used the car park for trips into St Ives, prices of the car park are expensive as can be expected, however view from the car park makes up for it. Walk down to St Ives is steep, but there is a bus service which runs regularly.
