Queensbridge Sports and Community Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: My 5 year old daughter recently attended a gymnastics class for the first time and left in tears after an appalling experience. No greeting/ introduction from ‘teachers’, just told to start running around in circles. We watched from the second floor as she spent the whole time completely lost and then was misplaced into the advanced group and forced to hang from a 6 foot pole hurting her arm. She was so excited and now scared to ever go to anything like this again. We had to pay upfront over £50 for a full month of classes. I have emailed requesting a refund after this experience as she will not be returning and no response.
Negative experience: The treadmills break down mid-exercise nearly every time I come here and there’s rarely anyone around to report it to. I’m going to cancel my direct debit because there’s nowhere to cancel membership on the website or the app.
Negative experience: I have been to different better leisure centre but this...this leisure centre you HAVE to pay extra 3.50 to enter the hall and its such a waste the sports hall is not even good dim lights too dark dusty and to compact
Negative experience: Constantly making their policies worse and worse, less and less user friendly, more and more expensive. Will be looking elsewhere
Negative experience: Is this centre ever not closed
Fantastic experience: loved it it was very clean and spacious and there were wipes to keep the machines clean
Fantastic experience: Great local sports hall. We played badminton, which we booked via the Better app. Everyone very friendly and badminton court was all you could ask for - neat court, nets set up prior to arrival, previous session ended their game when we arrived, little chair by each court to put your bag next to. Unfortunately no ventilation in the sports hall so it gets very warm very fast with no fresh air, but everything else excellent. The pricing is decent for London, and there is parking outside (pay as you go) if you prefer to drive. You can also rent out racquets and shuttles if you don't have your own. Definitely be visiting again.
Fantastic experience: Great to have a place to play pickleball!
Fantastic experience: Karen was really nice and helpful!
Positive experience: Played badminton.
Positive experience: Been coming here for years quite and laid back as usual
Fantastic experience: Nice place to workout
Fantastic experience: My go 2 gym , I love it , I really wish they could invest abit more money into it.
Positive experience: Use this chain to get access to pools and other facilities. It's fairly overpriced compared to other gyms if you just want cardio machines and weights. .... Can you please get the cleaners to clean the water fountain, it is covered in grime, can't believe they have left it like this for months.
Positive experience: Great location and plenty of parking available in the evening and weekends (free after 6.30pm). The facilities are pretty clean and tidy. It's quite small with the mens toilets only having one cubicle. The gym is nice and spacious. I used it for Badminton and they had 5 courts available. It gets pretty busy and booked out really quickly. The last slot is from 9.20pm to 10pm but the centre closes bang on 10pm so no option to use changing rooms to shower. Very reasonable prices and cheaper if you do pay as you go annual membership.
Fantastic experience: Don't know this place never been
Negative experience: Very dirty, I’ve been going for years and nothing changes unfortunately.
Fantastic experience: Great local gym in the area. Amazing price if you just go to this gym and great facility and classes. I especially love going to classes as everyone in the class as well as instructors are very friendly!
Fantastic experience: I can only say about the foodbank which is excellent
Positive experience: Not the best gym ever, but clean locker rooms and decent range of weights and machines. They've removed a number of excessive cardio machines (from the previous photos I've seen) and now two thirds of the room is dedicated to weights machines and free weights, including one bench press and a squat rack. (visited using Gympass on the silver package)
Positive experience: It’s a nice little community centre, gym is small very small but has decent equipment to get a good workout! However, cleaning is absent, it’s very very filthy.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and clear. Staff are very friendly.
Fantastic experience: Facilities are very good with friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: For playing badminton, this is my favourite of the nearby sports centres in terms of shuttlecock visibility ( the walls are all green with few distractions). It's also generally quite quiet, with out other noisy activities going on in part of the hall, partly because it's a bit smaller than other nearby centres with 6-court halls; this is a 4-court Hall.
Positive experience: great gym but definitely needs more weight training equipment and bigger space gym
Positive experience: Quite hard to find but is a nice venue with good courts.
Fantastic experience: Great soft play on Wednesdays. Plenty of things for the kids, and friendly staff. You can book online as well. They have wheelchair and buggy accessible toilets. And space to park your buggy.
Positive experience: Good centre. Clean and nice staff. Changing rooms need a little upgrade.
Positive experience: Lovely experience playing badminton here... Hygiene and maintained playing area
Negative experience: Rude and unpro. One of those “locals only” east London rude places that need a refurb and staff training very badly
Fantastic experience: WOUNDERFUL SPORT CENTRE YOU CAN SPECK WITH STAFFS GOOD AND FRIENDLY...
Fantastic experience: Community centre for 0 - 100. Valuable space for Dalston residents. Accessible to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Nice venue. Receptionist was friendly, toilets were clean. Water fountain and contactless vending machines available.
Positive experience: Nice place
Positive experience: Please improve lighting
Fantastic experience: Great service , friendly staff
Fantastic experience: The way i smashed Dee and Aarif at badminton 2v1 is amazing. This place is magical i would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Staff very polite at the entrance, and clean as expected in this challenging time. Many thanks to all.
Fantastic experience: I joined just before the first lockdown last year so can't comment on the changing rooms/showers BUT My experience has been great. After a difficult search for a small and un-intimidating gym - I've found the perfect community place that genuinely feels like it's for everyone. They have coped with the pandemic really well and adapted accordingly. The staff are always friendly. A good inclusive vibe, and never too crowded.
Fantastic experience: Place for you child to learn and enjoy gimnastics classes
Positive experience: Oap club
Positive experience: Local and convenient Gym for me. I can't work out why the lockers always seem to be in use though! (I am reading Ben Macintyre's spy stories atm, so I have lots of ideas about 'dead drops' etc!!!)
Positive experience: A real community fitness centre, pity has no cafe.
Fantastic experience: Good sports hall
Negative experience: Weekend opening times pretty annoying last entry at 17:30 but I got refused before then (didn't need the changing rooms). It's cheap at least.
Positive experience: Soft play not widely advertised and at 5.75 for a 2 hour session not a bad price. It's quiet despite the biting cold outside perhaps there is something better on nearby I don't know about?
Positive experience: Nice modern facility BUTHow can a sports centre not provide users with a football Had to borrow one from kids playing outside ...yes ..i know but it punctured
Positive experience: Place is standard, staff are exceptionally good
Fantastic experience: It's not the sports I love here, but the Health Garden which is run by Kate. She squatted the garden 5 yrs ago and welcomes anyone who wants to drop in to have a cup of tea or make a little cactus garden. Young or old, everyone is welcome at the Health Garden to chat, weed, plant....a little bit of heaven in the day to day bustle of city life
Positive experience: Needs more equipment
Positive experience: Enjoyable soft play here with paid parking right outside.
Fantastic experience: A good place to play badminton.
Negative experience: No free parking
Positive experience: Badminton was gr8 here on Tuesday 7-9pm
Negative experience: Very good gym to go to but the only thing that bothers me is the customers memberships I've seen customers complaining about then paying monthly and when they come to the gym they are being charged £6 to come into the gym is over a problem or there was a scam going on needs to be looked at immediately
Fantastic experience: Nice and peaceful gym
Positive experience: Gym is nice, good amount equipments only thing i would suggest is to increase weekend opening times.
Positive experience: Quiet and fantastically clean!
Negative experience: Ok
Negative experience: Terrible staff that are rude and that go's all the way from the management to the customer service team - would not go there again - I pay a lot more now but am happy too, just so I don't have to go here.
Positive experience: I used over 50 group activities for about 4 months. I never felt comfortable: all white, all old miserable women. I will never go there IF they don't put diversity (sex and culture)
Positive experience: Small gym; limited free weights, no bench press
Negative experience: Crammed up and treadmills were out of order for most.
Fantastic experience: Excelllent service
Fantastic experience: best
Fantastic experience: I attended one off class but was really impressed by the facility, its a new facility so the place looks great.. the equipments are new and upgraded.. It is too good for the price paid.
Fantastic experience: I visit regularly with my school kids to play football after school. Good size hall and facilities. The areas are generally clean and the staff are great!
Fantastic experience: great lightning, better staff
Positive experience: Great fun for my young daughter, she loved it and completely tired her out.
Negative experience: Now is the boiler that isn't working!! last month was 2 weeks broken down.... now broken down since a week!! from bad to worse!! lately since a year, it's very dirty, shower only cleaned twice a month! the gym room stink of BO. machines equipment are cover of dirt .
Negative experience: extremely unprofessional management."
Positive experience: Good for the little ones
Fantastic experience: Great for kids
Negative experience: Very poor costumer service. I’ve been there on numerous occasions where one of the staff members waits until his phone chat is over to even knowledge the fact that you are waiting, doesn’t even speak, just looks at you like your a burden. Also never any tissue paper in the gym area. So annoying!
Positive experience: It's a small gym with a nice quiet vibe. Not too loud and awful music.
Fantastic experience: Being Healthy Is The Best
Positive experience: Really nice but no squat rack or bench
Fantastic experience: Nice sports centre. Brilliant gym and staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Fantastic experience: Nice Place
Fantastic experience: A really excellent public gym. Thanks Hackney Labour Party!
Fantastic experience: Great place for badminton!
Positive experience: For the price, this gym is a good deal. It's nearly always empty (especially before work, normally after work too) - I have never waited to use any equipment! For approx £22 a month, in London, this is a steal. However for this price you have slightly annoying opening hours (not feasible before work or weekends pre-10am), slightly dirty changing rooms (I wouldn't shower there if I were you) and some cardio machines not always working. But even so, I'd recommend this gym for someone living nearby as it's good value for money!
Positive experience: Nice, simple, clean, quiet, hidden and usually empty. Good gym.
Positive experience: Since its refurbishment a few years back, this place looks really good now
Positive experience: It's nice and big like a exercise activity place needs to be recommend if you live near that area
Positive experience: A very good facility. Friendly and always helpful staff. Lockers, money returnable. Good shower and changing facilities. Loved that there was liquid soap and hand moisturiser in the ladies lav. A view onto the street in the gym - daylight is always a plus. Very well provisioned for a community gym - I haven't seen any wheelchair users in the gym as yet so I'm not certain whether it is disabled access - I hope so. Not too testosterone fuelled, although I find that the music is a bit loud sometimes particularly during the group cycle sessions. Nonetheless, highly recommended.
Positive experience: Great local gym! Good quality equipment and very clean. Staff are also very helpful. Would be 5 stars if it opened a little earlier (maybe 6am in the week) and ran more classes (there is a very high demand).
Negative experience: The gym has no leg squat section as there are too many cycles and cardio machines, there is also no T-bars for bicep curls, while dumbells are just at 32k max and there is no bench press for chest. The gym is absolute poor standard. The staff are absolute lazy , sluggish and full of bad attitude - the gym and staff lives upto its runned down Holy Street location. My membership at this pathetic centre lasted only a 2 months as they take one months payment in hand. I will no way advice anyone to join this banana republic fitness centre, they just care about taking your money and nothing else!
Positive experience: It ticks a box. No pool but good for badminton
Fantastic experience: New and cheap
Positive experience: Great excerise classes
Fantastic experience: Love their badminton courts!
Positive experience: Took my son for a round of Badminton, was near by, staff were helpful and pleasent, basic but funtional space, prices are reasonable, could improve organisation a bit, will be returning.
Positive experience: The Gym is always nice and cool. The equipment is clean and the users put them back where they belong after use instead of leaving them lying around.
Positive experience: Gymnastic class nd teacher is great.
Fantastic experience: Good air con gym with new equipment.
Fantastic experience: My little one loved doing gymnastics here. The gym is great
Positive experience: Clean with different activities for many different age groups, also a new gym added a few months ago
Positive experience: Not a bad place.
Positive experience: Modern clean and friendly
