Horfield Leisure Centre: Opinions
Negative experience: Really dirty changing rooms
Negative experience: I am a member here joined mid renovation and now I train here post renovation I find for me it is worse despite the increase in price, For 2 main reasons firstly No free weight incline bench presses bunch of machine weights which are good but if you know about a gym you will know doing free weights is generally better as user more muscles such as stabiliser muscles, 2, all be its a much more nieche thing but there is no where I can do muscle ups anymore its also worth noting they’ve added a bunch of cardio machines when cardio machines were never a problem in the first place there was always enough before I wasn’t here before the renovation started but I wonder if they actually asked the gym goers what needed changing as I know it’s not just me that isn’t entirely please with the renovation, despite this I will say the recovery are is really nice and that’s why it’s 2 stars not 1, as you can understand I’ve left a 2 star review as the price has increased for me but I can do less of my workout than before.
Negative experience: STEER CLEAR of this leisure centre!!! If I could give a zero start review I would have. We've been putting up with the remodel of the centre for several months now - only today I was made aware that I could freeze membership (there was no email about it!). And the manager's explanation that a lot of people depend on the swimming lessons was ridiculous - if I knew I could freeze for a month when you don't even have proper changing rooms and need to enter through a side entrance with some kids freezing in the pool and risking illnesses - we would definitely do it!! And I know many other parents who would have used this option too. Additionally there were football games on today (they lease their pitches) and non-members were parking there, which meant my son missed nearly half his lesson and had to change into his swimming shorts the lobby!!! Absolutely disgraceful. Instead of apologizing for the situation and actually taking my comments on board the young manager I was speaking to was very defensive and tried to find explanations for everything. You should not allow football games when you know the centre has a very busy swimming schedule - rent them out from 12 noon when the lessons are over!!! The bottom line is that profit counts more than customer experience. That centre shouldn't be operating while remodel was taking place - at least not the swimming pool!!! The pool is dirty, overcrowded (as all the people need to cram into small group changing rooms) and very cold which causes chaos. Also, no lockers in the swimming area. I've been told that pool works will finish on 19th January - no chance considering the state they're in today. To add to the chaos, they've introduced automated gates system - they've notified customers on Facebook and on the app - I'm sorry but not everyone uses Facebook or the app. No email communication whatsoever. A lady in the changing room said she actually got a phone call notification about the changing system - she's one of the lucky ones because I know many parents whose children have swimming lessons and they had no idea this is happening. They could have at least put some notification boards in the centre a few weeks before this happened. Absolute communication mess, which only put your team under pressure. All in all, it's been one of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time and looking to change kids lessons to a different place, just not worth the stress.
Negative experience: Membership prices have just gone up by 17%, after more than a year of significant disruption to the gym, classes and sports facilities. Not great. Gym is ok and classes are good (but oversubscribed)
Negative experience: I was about to sign up but it's asking me for ridiculous upfront payments - why can't I cancel whenever I want? No, I don't want to pay 1-2 months in advance
Negative experience: I regret joining this leisure center under the “Concession Fitness Ann” annual membership. I paid £349.90 expecting access to a safe and suitable fitness environment, but since their refurbishment project began in April 2024, the conditions have been unacceptable. The temporary gym and facilities are poorly maintained, with uneven flooring and slippery surfaces. These issues caused me to trip and fall multiple times during my visits. As someone with a food drop condition, I rely on safe and accessible facilities to avoid accidents, but this center has failed to provide that. What’s worse is that I wasn’t informed about the planned refurbishment when I signed up in January, even though the plans were already in place. Had I known, I would’ve opted for a monthly membership instead of committing to a full year. This situation has impacted my confidence and well-being, and attempts to address the issue with management have been ignored. I’ve requested a refund or partial reimbursement for the unsafe months, but nothing has been resolved. The lack of transparency, unsafe environment, and poor management make this leisure center one I cannot recommend. Until they prioritize their members’ safety and communicate disruptions clearly, I advise others to avoid joining.
Negative experience: The membership fees are way too high the cheapest being £39.99 per month, we live in Bristol for goodness sake, it's expensive here. £6.10 for one swimming session is extensive. Lockers are trash. Half of them don't work, the hairdryers are stupidly old and there's only 3 that work. The "new showers" are ok. There's so much work going on in here, I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put the temporary entry and exit at the pool but that is stupid. In theory you could just walk in and join in any session without being asked for anything. There needs to be gym barriers and swim barriers like they have in "The gym" security of the place is non existent. The life guards are wearing their trainers, this doesn't give me much hope they will jump in and save me before their designer trainers (they should be wearing swim shoes). The pool area needs redesigning it's like it's from the 70s, they are also blinking freezing and it's annoying that both ends are shallow. The gym area seems to be a make shift gym area no real set up to be one gym area. Place is just awful and needs to be competitive with design, price and products. It would be easier to close the place for a week to get all the work done rather than annoying everyone.
Positive experience: Visited today to try out the gym. Arg was nice, gave me a visitor pass and a tour. The gym was good- I only do cardio so can't say much about many of the machines, but seems like they've spent some money on equipment. I managed to exercise then left at around half 5 when it started getting BUSY. My advice is come before most people finish work if you can. The shower and changing rooms were clean. All in all, good experience and will probs buy the membership on payday.
Negative experience: Very impolite, unprofessional, lazy staff in many departments - even management who should not be employed anywhere that deals with the public. Years ago one great swimming teacher my then young daughter was given lessons by but many times since I have put up with terrible behaviours. Greedy for the money at times ie to sign someone up - commission probably, but anti-social in most ways (polite way of saying 'thick'? ie being polite means customer more likely to spend money, return etc)
Negative experience: Have to book to come swim. Not clean. Ridiculous bureaucracy just to enter a gym. Overcrowded.
Fantastic experience: Usally great but having refurbishment atm and bit of a pain
Fantastic experience: Great swim even with building going on showers very good
Negative experience: Went for the first time today for the kids swimming session and I wasn't impressed at all. Many of the lockers don't work and others require old £1 coins bizarrely. Also, because their sessions are for just 45/50 minutes, their changing rooms are always packed, not very clean and smelly. Previously I'd been taking my daughter to the university of Bristol pool but because this is slightly cheaper and there are different pools available, I wanted to give this a chance but it really isn't worth it. It also says online that it's recently been refurbished but I'm not sure that's true. Part of the gym seemed to be but the free weights room looked dark and dingy and the cardio area was inside an old basketball gym area.
Fantastic experience: Jacob is a legend u should give him a raise
Positive experience: The showers are constantly in fault, now you have hot water now you don't. And the toilets are an absolute disaster
Positive experience: A super place for swimming lessons but you only got 3 stars as the changing needs looking at wet with wee and the bins need to be emptied so many people with your children
Fantastic experience: Thank you very much
Fantastic experience: bogdan is the best lifeguard
Negative experience: You can't go for a swim without giving, name, date of birth and address. It just feels really intrusive and totally unnecessary. It's rather crowded and very loud in the pool. There weren't enough lifeguards for the number of swimmers to really be watching safely. Won't return.
Negative experience: Sophie & Ethan! These two staff embarrassed me and my son by not allowing him to workout without my 'supervision' when I requested them that I will park my car and come back after dropping my son to the gym! Extremely rude behaviour & treated me and my son like criminals in front of everyone! Been a very nice experience since we got our membership until these two tried to be over smart by telling that RULES are RULES! I'm sitting inside the gym 'supervising' my 15 year old on my work uniform and shoes after a12 hour shift! Thanks a lot for embarrassing us SOPHIE & ETHAN! What made more hurtful was they were cracking jokes about me and my son and was laughing loudly in front of everyone.. I feel that they were trying to make us feel small because we are from a different RACE & COLOUR ?
Negative experience: I was a little disappointed to get a parking ticket whilst using their facilities, but very disappointed to see that they use such an immoral and unethical company to administrate / enforce it. Dreadful and we won’t bother returning.
Negative experience: Too many members for the equipment!!!!!! half hour wait anytime you want to use a lat pulldown or any bit of equipment. If you have an actual routine you want to follow and you don’t want to wait 20mins to half an hour between each exercise don’t come here
Fantastic experience: This place literally is my second home and has changed my life for the better mentally and physically I'm a wheelchair user and they are so accommodating especially Kerrie in the gym joe the manager who helped me raise £3600 to buy my own rugby specific wheelchair This place is somewhere I couldn't be without
Negative experience: My daughter came to the centre on Sunday was charged £12.20 for 1 adult and a 4 month old was told they couldn’t use the baby pool because she had booked a family pool. The staff were rude and unhelpful as this was the first time using the centre. Also asked if the pool was warm staff said yes . it was so cold my granddaughter screamed and after 2 mins they got out and had to go home. The changing rooms were filthy and were the bathrooms for baby changing my daughter just put her baby and left the building. Not impressed with this place
Fantastic experience: Great service from a staff member named Charlie. Top class!
Positive experience: Swimming pool water was quite cold and smelly.Locker 135 key did not work and took my pound and could not get it back. Good point coffee was good and hotx
Positive experience: Very good leisure centre offering an excellent rage of sports and gym classes. The pool is warm and clean. The gym is excellent with a wide choice of equipment. Staff is friendly and helpful. Changing rooms could do with a refresh. Great value for money.
Positive experience: It's okay now they have new equipment, but loo rolls often run out and not replaced in time and toilets generally in poor condition. Couid do with a steam room.
Positive experience: I love what this place offers members of the community although it has it's flaws (such as poor disabled bathrooms) i've used it for years and so do many others. This is no credit to EveryoneActive who are a money hungry corporation like any other.
Fantastic experience: We celebrated our daughter B’day in the Hall, the staff Elly and Lily were very helpful and they pro actively explained us everything before the party. The guest were very happy with the multiple play areas within the hall. Everything was clean and up to the mark. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Great gym facilities and good membership prices
Fantastic experience: Went today to see the horfield leisure centre. The manager there was very kind and explained about all the courses available, what is included in the membership and showed us the gym and swimming pool. He also said us how to make the most of it. Really like the place and people.
Negative experience: Signed our 11yr old up for swimming lessons staff were made aware of certain issues, turn up and she had been placed in the baby pool with toddlers needless to say we went straight to the desk where we have to wait days for a refund. Gym isn’t much better there are way too many members and there is simply not enough strength equipment it’s all either in use or broke. For what you get it’s way over priced.
Negative experience: We tried it 3 times. Cause its close to the hospital and a good idea to have a quick break from visiting youre family or friends. Homepage booking is a joke. So not user friendly. Really stupid. Try it you ll see... Come 15 min earlier. Cause 50% of the lockers are broken . So you need a while until you got one working. Bring slippers. Floors are stinky not very clean. Don't book family swim. should be renamed in "yellow swim". I never smelled so much wee inside a pool. We swam for 5 min and had to leave. Disgusting. 2.nd time our bag with goggles got stolen. 15 sec unattended. And gone (by accident or not). The stuff were nice and tried so search and watch cctv ."nothing to see" 2 young boys tried to get in the changing rooms ...without booking...without any bags or swimstuff.... coincidence? Maybe. Lane swim is nice. But very hectic & busy. And to be fair more a social meeting and chatting than swimming. Bit annoying if you want to swim lanes. But if you follow or ignore thoose things... it's okay
Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of visiting Horfield Leisure Centre, and I must say, the experience was exceptional. Miss Louise Thomas provided an outstanding tour of the facility, showcasing her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for every aspect of the center. Her dedication to ensuring that visitors have a comprehensive understanding of the offerings was truly commendable. During the tour, I also had the opportunity to interact with Nico, a gym trainer at the center. His insights into the various facilities and programs available were invaluable. His expertise and willingness to share information added to the overall positive impression I had of the center. I must express my gratitude to Miss Louise Thomas for her outstanding guidance and to the entire Horfield Leisure Centre team for their dedication to providing a top-notch experience for visitors. Based on my visit, I am genuinely excited about the prospect of becoming a member and taking advantage of the excellent facilities they offer. Kudos to the Horfield Leisure Centre team.
Positive experience: The floor is very dirty and there are very few showers.
Fantastic experience: I have had a membership with Horfield gym for a few months and attend a mixture of fitness classes with some friends. My favourite class is spin on a Monday with Matt! He is an absolute savage but never fails to push us towards our fitness goals and brings a smile to our face with his humour. Always welcoming and helpful to make sure your equipment is set correctly. He is so motivating and I would recommend his class to anyone from all abilities.
Fantastic experience: Very good fitness class, love Zumba!
Fantastic experience: Good clean pool area
Positive experience: General leisure centre with decent facilities. Not so cheap any more though
Fantastic experience: Lovely family swim, pool a little cold for a 15 month old bit overall excellent
Positive experience: A swim session with the grandchildren the place was clean and wasn't too crowded 4 stars because the pool was quite cool whilst ok for me but my 14 month granddaughter struggled with the temp s bit
Fantastic experience: Used the pool. Nice an cool on a very warm day. I like booking and paying in advance with their app. Not too expensive for older people £3.20.
Negative experience: Very bad overall experience in this Leisure Center, particularly at the front desk, and Jon T., who is so far the most rude staff I've ever met. I'm a member for some times and since I moved to Gympass, I have been treated as Customer B. I'd never recommend this place.
Negative experience: Bad customer service. Tried calling today and got hung up on multiple times, I could hear the phone get picked up and put back down! Shame really as the pool is nice.
Negative experience: Honestly extremely annoyed with the fact that I have paid for a full membership in the hopes that every now and then I can go for a swim but unless you book stupidly in advance it's a no go. Need more lane swim sessions available!!
Negative experience: The facilities are fairly good, but the management and customer service is poor, and one or two members of staff have a contemptuous manner. For instance, the centre has a post-COVID rule that children using the shallow pool are not allowed to use any of the centre's own floats. (I think it must be owned by the Grinch.) I expressed concern about this at the time at reception: how is a carer expected to look after a non-swimming child and keep an eye on floats left on the side at the same time? Still I bought the floats (£20) and, of course, the first time I left them on the side of the pool they were taken, presumably by the bigger kids in the deep pool. At the end of the session I told reception, and the woman's first response was, "What do you expect me to do about it?" (Really!) I ended up speaking to the assistant manager, who said, "We cannot be held responsible if you choose not to watch your belongings at all times." I said, "How can you look after floats when you're not using them, when you are in care of a 3 year old who can't swim and needs constant attention?". He reiterated, "We cannot be held responsible if you choose not to watch your belongings at all times." I said that doesn't make any sense, but he just said it again. So I said I would like to make a complaint. He said I could go online. I said, aren't you the assistant manager—can't you make a record of a complaint? He said I could go online… Another example. It is almost impossible to book in to lane swimming, as the sessions are opened to members first, and there is no penalty for not turning up. So, obviously, members block book and often don't come. (If you do get in, you're often left wondering where everyone is.) I told this to reception today. The woman said, "I know, that's exactly what happens." I asked could they consider changing policy, perhaps introducing penalties for non-attendance, or at least allowing other people in if bookers haven't arrived. She said, "There's nothing we can do about it." I mean—what?! I said could she take my feedback. She said I could go online… Aaaaaaaagh!
Negative experience: I payed for year Kingsdown may 21st 2022,that's closed so I goes st Paul's usually, due to maintenance of gym it's closed for 6weeks, so went to horfield to use gym, the receptionists said I'm not aloud anywhere speak with Kingsdown I said it's been closed for a few weeks,I went to st pauls an they said what they on about, went to Easton used gym fine. receptionist were clearly not interested 1 bit, I won't be renewing my membership nor my father had problems aswel
Positive experience: My kids have their swimming lessons here. In past 2 months my son’s lesson has been cancelled twice and you have to keep on at the manager to amend your direct debit for missed lessons, otherwise they continue to charge full price. Showers & changing rooms in the swimming village are pretty gross. Water temperature is variable & often dirty. The reason I bring my kids for their swimming lessons over Henbury is due to the large viewing gallery & I can watch both my kids lessons at the same time. Could be so much better all round.
Negative experience: I went with my child for a family swimming section, we have been booked in the mainly pool by the receptionist member, instead of small pool, that I asked for. There were no compression or understanding from the local staff at the small pool when I explained, the mistake, on the opposite there were two member of staff in the small pool, who made a scene insisting that I get out from the small pool with my child. Well I did as asked and we went to the mainly pool, the water temperature was extremely cold, the kids were visible trembling cold, chatting with other mummies, they were all disappointed with how cold the water was. Honestly, I don’t really recommend the mainly pool for family swimming. I had a horrible experience.
Negative experience: Usually such a good Gym. Though today they haven't let anyone in the men's changing room. Absolutely shameful. A bunch of guys have their bags everywhere.
Positive experience: Very nice first swimming experience here after moving to the neighborhood. Can recommend the lane swimming on Sundays at 8am.
Negative experience: Receptionist was awfully rude! I had to rebook a class due to traffic I rang in plenty of time but no one answered. So it looks as though i did not give enough time. Then shouting HELLO HELLO down the phine due to bad reception and then having a rude manor. Honestly its not needed. I dont think I will return!
Fantastic experience: Thank so much for free membership for Ukrainians) I did not find work yet, but I very like swimming. You comes true my dream☺️Administrators are nice and friendly. Thanks so much for your support) Р.S. they also have cafe inside. If you have membership you can take something -20% discount P.P.S. Use for last 2 months) happy with everything but sometimes water is cold enough
Positive experience: Very nice swimming pool, good service and coffee machine.
Negative experience: Using the gym cost £7.20, though I wasn't able to achieve even this, as I had to watch a non-existent induction video first, despite having used the gym before. The lady on reception couldn't find the video either so I gave up. Bureaucracy at its finest.
Negative experience: The Zumba classes are good now, but the admin and technology are awful. Over the years they have messed up my membership at least 3 times (including the time they did they same thing monthly for a whole year and I had to go in every month to sort it as just the one instance) and more than once their check-in system for classes has failed and registered me as scanning in at a time I was at home/work and charged me for missing a class. ETA: Their admin gets worse every time. My accounts been blocked for the last week and it turns out it's because they owe me money and I have to go in and get it put back on my card. Rather than returning it via the method they took it i.e. via my bank account. And I never received any correspondence to tell me to go in to get it paid back on card so I suppose I was just supposed to guess their ridiculous processes??
Positive experience: Great gym etc, nothing fancy, but has the equipment needed for a good workout
Positive experience: Classes are ok, but be prepared to be out of you depth if you're a newbie
Positive experience: The place is good, but some of the staff are not friendly, and they take a long time (Three weeks) to replay to my enquiry.
Fantastic experience: The receptionist on the phone (Sharon) was so friendly, helpful and efficient, taking me through registration for Everyone Active, and helping me understand the holiday swim options. On arrival there is plenty free parking, a well stocked shop with lots of goggles etc. The kids are having a brilliant time in the Family Swim, they're already familiar with the building as they come here for school swimming lessons. The lifeguards are alert and not overbearing. A great experience
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff to help you feel at home. A Excellent Gym to be a member off . Staff very helpful to get you started.
Positive experience: It's a great facility when you can actually get in, but booking a swimming session shouldn't be harder than getting Glastonbury tickets
Positive experience: Lovely pool but water is very cold
Positive experience: The booking system on the everyone active app is easy to use. Sessions occasionally get filled quickly. You'll then have to be put on a waiting list and get notified if a space becomes available. A swim session cost £5.40 for an adult. A session lasts 55 minutes. If you are planning on swimming at least twice a week I advise that you pay for a swim membership. The pool doesn't have a strong chlorine smell which is good, apparently. Overall it is a decent leisure centre but needs improving. The swimming changing room is often very smelly. I have seen members of staff hosing the floor and wiping the mirrors but I think the changing room needs a deep clean. A lot of the lockers do not work. Either the key gets jammed, the token gets stuck or spits the token out. You have to get a token from reception that costs £1 and is card payment only. Showers are often barely lukewarm. The staff are friendly. Plenty of parking spaces.
Positive experience: Facilities are good overall, but the gym needs some serious maintenance. At least 2 machines (often more) are always broken and a lot of the working machines are very clearly worn.
Negative experience: Spent 5 mins trying to get through on phone only for someone to answer and not speak, they then hung up the phone. About as poor customer service as you could hope for. Staff seem to be badly trained on using computer systems. Poor facilities. Some leisure centres have cover for cycles but here they are exposed to the elements. There is just one table tennis which you have to phone to book as you can't do so online. Prices have also risen dramatically recently. Almost like it is being deliberately run down so the land can be sold for housing.
Negative experience: My first experience today was not a good one . I had booked for 2 children to join swimming at 3.45 straight from school . Unfortuntley when i arrived i was a met with man with a beard who was very unfriendly . He advised that the booking hadnt go through properly and we cant do the session . We were waiting for a long time and my son restless and upset that couldnt go swimming and touched the scanner . The man was very rude to him and said ‘leave that mate’ also told him to get down . My son has special needs so being told he couldnt go swimming was very upsetting for him . I feel that the member of staff had no empathy for this and was very matter of fact they they cant go swimming today . I have now paid £160 and paid for 2 children to go swimming so hope this is just a one off and that the customer service improves . I would to mention that ladies on thr cafe are the complete opposite and very nice and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Swim early in morning very good Yoga good All helpful and happy to help
Fantastic experience: Excellent experience staff really friendly & happy to help out. Love going to the gym
Negative experience: The swimming instructors seem like they don't want to be doing this job they shout and smack the children with a noodle who don't do well. It is a shame because the swimming pool is very good but the swimming instructors ruin it
Positive experience: Had to visit centre as website is not clear. Woman on front desk was very helpful its a shame they don't have a detailed website it would have saved me having to visit in person. I now have the info I needed
Positive experience: It's really dirty..very busy at night..it's just not a pleasant experience. My membership will not be renewed
Fantastic experience: It's all been working very well at the baths since returning after lockdown. Especially when the showers came back into use. The only grumble I have is about the men's urinals - which seems to be a recurring problem.
Fantastic experience: This is a nice gym, with excellent facilities
Fantastic experience: Just the air conditioning too cold, even though I was very sweety
Negative experience: Walk 30 minutes with my boy for swimming pool to fide out at the desk that is for adoluts now next sesion for kids 2h latersow maybe you can put this on the web site big disappointed.I neve go again
Positive experience: Great space for swimming, classes and the gym. All fitness staff are friendly and happy to help, we have had some less then helpful reception staff but overall great service.
Fantastic experience: Coming back to swim, first time since before the lockdowns... loved it.
Negative experience: Had to isolate due to COVID-19 and they refused to just rebook my swimming session. Seems like they'd prefer for customers to spread covid or scam them out of money.
Fantastic experience: We arrived one evening at around 5:30pm. Drove straight in and down to the end (almost) just past the bushes and reversed in. Our alko chassis is quite low, but the kerb and grass didn't present a problem. So, it's 3 hours free parking here, to extend it you have to go to reception and input your vehicle registration into the tablet, it's easy peasy. The staff are brilliant so no problems there. I booked my wife a swimming session for 6:40am and that was only £5. That booking classes us as members, so we got 24 hrs free parking (however, please note it's midnight to midnight). There are charging points for electric vehicles and plenty of parking spaces. Due to Covid the toilets and showers were closed but on our last visit, the 19th, all facilities were open. It was a very quiet and hassle free experience. I recommend this place highly.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, plenty of options available and carefully dealing with the current restrictions
Negative experience: I am very disappointed about my first experience at Horfield Leisure Centre. Just joined on Saturday and today,Tuesday 29th of June I felt that I have only wasted my time. First, one of the staff treated me as someone that was trying to sneak into the gym, because something was wrong with my membership card. He would not listen to what I have to say. And second, I was meant to have a virtual body balance class. Initially I was told that was delayed, to be told later that was cancelled. They don not notify you,but if for any reason you don't attend or forget to cancell a class, they charge you £4. I dont think is fair, really disappointed. I hope next experience will change my opinion.
Positive experience: It's seems to be managing in these difficult times. They are confusing me a bit by moving the equipment locations and I find myself wasting the restricted 50 minute session times looking for stuff. But overall it's a good place full of normal people with no attitude issues so you will feel at ease. Must mention the personal trainers as they are very approachable and very professional should you need help and encouragement as I do.
Fantastic experience: So glad it's open. Good. Covid measures, peape just need to adhere to them, I.e. If it says don't sit on that bench, don't sit in that bench! Great swimming and pleasant staff
Positive experience: Great for a public facility. Super swimming pool, well equipped gym and loads of classes and other indoor and outdoor activities.
Fantastic experience: Very safe for organised sports and classes.
Fantastic experience: Happy that the gym is back open. Feel safe in time of Covid. Easy to use App.
Fantastic experience: This is a very clean gym with friendly staff members. It has lots of activities and a very nice big pool. The only thing is missing is a sauna, but that's not the end of the world. I used it for over an year and it really improved my overall body and mental health. Totally recommend it if you live in Southmead/Gloucester area
Positive experience: Gym running a good safe covid program. Plenty of stations for the gym and regular classes
Positive experience: It's great that it's open again, and even though you can only get 50 minutes in the gym at any one time, I'm happy to be back! The only disappointment is that a fair few of my personal favourite pieces of equipment is not available!
Fantastic experience: First time back and that felt pretty covid-safe. Thank you! And well done to the general public. Everyone spraying down equipment after they've used it : ) x
Fantastic experience: Lots of classes available the day and evenings, swimming pool is clean, changing rooms and showers are clean. Nice cafe area. Plenty of parking spaces.
Positive experience: A good facility with lots going on, have a look at the timetable to see the full list of their activities. Gym, pool, indoor and outdoor courts. The swimming pool area is nice but changing areas can get dirty if it's busy, they have a no shoes policy but don't enforce it so the floor can get pretty muddy (not nice when walking bare foot). The kids pool can be quite cold, not great for babies but fine for active young ones. They have plenty of places to lock up your bike, the car park is big enough but can be a nightmare to leave at peak traffic times.
Fantastic experience: Love this pool, clean and the staff are amazing!!!
Negative experience: It's a nice facility but they are completely unreliable in regards to children and pool usage. We have had a number of times where we have shown up with our toddler and either the swim timetable on the website was wrong or the pool was closed. They make no accomodation for little ones so we have often ended up with a screaming toddler who just wants to go swimming and can't. The staff have been unapologetic and rude. It's been a terrible experience.
Fantastic experience: Good equipment, solid weights area, and plenty of classes and other activities (swimming, squash etc.) Staff are polite and helpful. Great gym with an affordable membership. Only downside I can think of is the high cost of a one-off session and the fact that if you want to bring a friend they will need an induction for even a single session before using the gym. Not ideal if you have someone visiting you.
Negative experience: Horfield instructors are always late and always have a 'problem' and don't leave any notices on their website for any inconveniences or delays
Negative experience: Had to complain 2 times about a fire safety door being broken and still not even attempted to fix it. Sold a membership and then they started building works and stopped all the classes i was doing. The membership team again tried to not honour agreements they made. I got them to agree it this time, but it was hard work.
Negative experience: Very rude staff - bad customer service and bad manners. Avoid this centre!
