Kingstanding Leisure Centre

Positive experience: OK Gym, free for those paying council tax. There are no free weights though. If you can avoid between 5-6.30 as it's rammed. The swimming pool is great for the little ones, shallow one end, deep the other. Kiddies slide etc. New clean changing rooms.and showers.

Positive experience: Very friendly environment and staff. Very enjoyable experience.

Positive experience: Really nice, huge pool with plenty of space for families. Kids slide and water play area good but the big slide has been shut doesn fir many years which is a shame. Changing rooms spacious and clean with plenty of lockers Free entry with leisure card makes it great

Fantastic experience: Doorstep location..plenty of parking.. gym swimming keep fit..yoga.. etc.. so many things to do.. more people should pop in and see the facilities on offer.. all staff are super friendly

Fantastic experience: I go just for the Be Active swimming with my 3 year old. Considering it’s free the pool / changing facilities are great. The staff are well on top of safety too and don’t stand for any idiots!

Positive experience: Had my Diabetes eye test here which was a little out of the way , in a part of the building that is clearly in need of some repair. The front reception area was nice and clean

Negative experience: On Friday last week I was In the pool and saw one of the lifeguard attendants being really heavy handed. The man was with his child and the lifeguard started shouting at him and being rude. The man didn’t say much and then ended up complaining to the manager I think and the had to leave the pool. The lifeguards need to learn how to treat people. I felt sorry for the guy and his little boy.

Positive experience: Gym, very good. I attend everyday since I started gym and it's very good however I think it needs 2 stairmasters as I was waiting 1hour and probably longer I didn't even get a go on it so I just left, and needs to stock up on the blue paper to clean the equipment since there was non today.

Positive experience: Great place to take the kids for a swim, staff ok. Water Slide out of order and only 1 vending machine for refreshments. A cafe inside would be nice.

Positive experience: Just started the toning chairs at kingstanding they our brilliant it’s been up and running a few months now it’s a new toning suite that’s moved to the ground floor with about 8 new machines that give you a full body work out and takes about 40/45 mins to go round I’ve only given it 4 stars as there is one member of staff who works in the toning suite who can be abit rude and has not got a very good attitude when she speaks to some of the clients at times I know it’s all new and early days sorting appointments out as they our waiting for a phone exstention to be fitted so you can phone direct instead of going to main reseption which is making it difficult if you need to cancel or rebook another time but there is away of talking to people all the other staff our more accommodating and pleasant but I will still keep going as it’s helping me as I suffer stiffness and arthritis

Positive experience: The centre itself and mostly the ataff are helpful. But if you are planning to have swimming lessons here with your child with special need, I would not recommend especially with the teacher lady named Rookini. I know they are not professionally trained to teach with kids with special needs but atleast they should be knowing the proper strategy on how to deal with the kids since also this is a group lesson. Today my son had a lesson with her and he was given a “time-out” in the pool because he can not kick his feet well and kept on touching the floor. What do you expect the child to do? Be a professional swimmer already??? That is why they are taking lessons she wanted him to make an effort, for my child he is doing his best already but for her it is not enough. The way she handled the situation was so unfair and not acceptable. To be put on a “time-out” on a 30 minute lesson, it is just so not good. As much as she doesnt wants to be disturbed when she is having lessons same as putting your child on hold means a lot of time and chances lost for my child especially not the right way to encourage him to do his best. Please I hope the management can look out also with how the instuctors are dealing with the children. I dont expect an olympic style swimming lesson for the price of the swimming lesson in the center, but atleast try to encourage the kids to do their best on the level they could and not to put their confidence down.

Positive experience: Great pool for the kids! Water was a bit cold but they enjoyed it and it’s free if you live in Birmingham. We paid £12 for 2 adults which is a bit steep but you can stay as long as you want which works out as good value if you make a day of it. Lots of other facilities there which looked good.

Negative experience: Decent enough but some of the life guards have low communication skills. Can't wait to start yelling at kids or adults for the slightest thing.

Positive experience: Reason for the 3 stars is because the water was freezing cold for my son who is 1years old. The swimming baths it self is lovely and clean and tidy.

Negative experience: The diabetic eye screening staff are extremely rude and not on time. It is 40 minutes I have been siting at a stinky waiting room and no one has turned up to check if I got an appointment. This is a joke.

Positive experience: Didn't go for leisure as the NHS now outsources locations for Diabetic Eye Screening, and one of there locations is this Leisure Centre. Very well set up, seen and done within 30 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Great with loads of facilities. Excellent staff and service.

Negative experience: Where do I start. Showers and pool water freezing very dated nothing has changed in 30 years when I last went there. Slide out of order and wave machine don't work but don't tell you this before taking payment. Very Dirty to all pipe work that is exposed by pool Thick of dust.

Positive experience: Great swimming facility, I had a great time! The pool is great for all ages, with a shallow end around and inch deep, and a deep end around 6ft. At the time I came, the showers weren't functional and were only giving cold water, but apart from that I had a great time. Very cheap, great facilities, lots of changing rooms etc. The changing rooms did have graffiti in some booths but overall, a solid 4 stars including the malfunctions in the showers and the vandalism in the changing rooms.

Positive experience: Changing area is clean with ample changing areas and showers, the pool is well maned with a small splash area for little ones with a little slide, the pool water was a little cooler but there was a sign at reception to state. Staff are informative and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Haven't been swimming for ages, my sons n there friends had a fab time, disappointed the slide was broken and no wave machine. Clean, helpful staff.

Negative experience: Misserable staff. Drinks machine takes your money and don't give you the goods. Nothink like the old days there Wen they done food. Only thing good is the pool that's it. Even the big slide don't operate no more. It's really gone down. Costs nothink to smile.

Negative experience: Cold showers has been a problem for not months but year's still not been fixed. kids have to take Cold shower after a swim it's a disgrace. Management has been aware but nothing has changed.

Negative experience: If I can give this place a zero I would have did.they always have something goning on there once the hot water was not working and today the pool is out of order totally not acceptable.

Negative experience: What a waste of my time booked a swimming session for Saturday at 3.30 and I was looking forward to it to be told that the Chlorine is not enough in the pool why not be organised and let people know before hand . this is my second time and I was told same thing.

Positive experience: Havent been here for years, used to take my granddaughter every wk. Took my other granddaughter Saturday, was very shokt at how run down it's looking. There wave machine was broke, the slide was out ov order. Was very disappointed

Negative experience: Adult Swimming review: Does the job as in there is a pool and you can swim. However compared to other pools in Birmingham its on the bottom of my list. Went for the be active on a sunday and wont return. Seems a bit sub par and if youre a beginner the shallow end is not reallt fun to swim in. I can see it being suitable for splash sessions with kids.For kids it may be fun when the slides are out too. If you're an adult and you wanna swim session it's not great I'd go elsewhere

Positive experience: Was a pleasant visit today just a shame that the wave machine long gone and the slide was under maintenance. But as for the staff they are very polite and friendly.The changing rooms were clean and the water was a perfect temperature. Showers were working fine. We will be returning very soon.

Positive experience: Moved into kingstanding and signed up for an induction of the gym, The instructors there are very nice, welcoming and helpful along with the reception staff being ever so wonderful. Despite the size of the gym it is quite pleasant and beneficial as they have all the basic equipment that anyone needs to train available. For anybody wondering about the up to date time table as of 23-01-24

Negative experience: Went over first time for splash session, a lot of unsupervised kids who were swearing and took my child's towel and throw it on the floor, so clearly none to supervise the children behaviour. Slide not working, pool itself outdated and rusty, nearly almost all lockers not working/not closing. Were told you can't buy tickets 20 minutes before the session which I find weird.... The place need general makeover and an adult to supervise changing rooms as people just steal stuff....

Fantastic experience: I go swimming here once a week, which is free with my council leisure card. Fantastic service. Always friendly staff, very clean and well maintained.

Positive experience: The staff are very pleasant and helpful, the services that are offered for free to people living in Birmingham are very good covering most hours of the day for the gym and swimming. The only thing I can fault is some of the gym equipment, most of which is fully functional and works great, but some of the treadmills are questionable and are quite noisy to jog on, little bit beat up but they still work perfectly fine, overall a great leisure centre with lots on offer.

Negative experience: Pool a bit on the cold side. Lots of patches of sand on floor of pool. More than half the changing room doors have broken locks. Felt uncomfortable with children around some of the behaviour and language of others. Slide not working. Worst of all though, NO jumping allowed - in a swimming pool! Not even kids.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful and a nice place to spend time here

Negative experience: Beware !!!! The floor is so slippery. I took my 2 grandchildren today and slipped over in the ladies toilets,I went to reception to have it recorded in the accident book to be told ' we asked for non slip flooring but that is what we got'. Then to top it all my grandson put £1 in the vending machine and got nothing out,. He was told by the person on reception that there was nothing that they could do !!!. I as a customer had to phone the number on the vending machine to report the machine broken so that hopefully no one else loses their money in it. I found the receptionists totally lacking in customer service skills. Needless to say we will not be going back.

Negative experience: i would not recommend. The water was very cold and it seemed like the big slide was broken. There was no wave machine and the showers were freezing. My child really wanted to jump into the pool but he was told by a member of staff that he could not jump in. I did not see the problem why he couldn’t jump in.

Positive experience: the structure is nice, with a splash area but the big slide was closed again (it has been broken for a month or more now) and the showers were cold and even the temperature outside the water is too cold. My son has been cold all the time. It Is a shame , we will try another time and see if there will be the same situation

Fantastic experience: People have told me that this place is an s-hole but i disagree with this. I visited for the first time last week and i thought it was alright. Everything was clean and it wasnt to busy either. My children had a great swim and we had fun. I will be visiting again soon. If i had 1 complaint id say that the cubicle door locks need looking at. There were alot that were broken or missing.

Negative experience: Have had to put up with going here because the Alexander stadium is not open to regulars atm, kingstanding leisure is the biggest dump it should be condemned, either to cold to exercise or way too hot, I wouldn't recommend it to the rats

Positive experience: Used the swimming bath here and found the facilities good. We took our granddaughter who had a great time. The graduated incline to the water is a great idea especially for the younger children. A good venue for swimming for all the family.

Negative experience: Used to come here all the time however recently everything seems to be broken (slide/wave machine) now it is just a regular pool. You also have to go in to book as the system online doesn’t work, they don’t answer the phone or their emails. The staff at the front desk are very very rude. Will not be coming here again and spreading the word.

Fantastic experience: The grey floor by the lockers gets very slippery and the walk across the tiles to the pool. Please could you consider putting the blue matting on these areas, to prevent slipping.

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool with warm water and great shallow bit for younger kids. Play items in the pool could have done with a clean however and showers were cold water.

Positive experience: We booked a session, and were pleased to find it wasn't too busy. The changing rooms are unisex with plenty or cubicles. They have larger family sized cubicles but the stand ones are roomier than most aswell. There is showers in cubicles if you prefer more privacy aswell as the standard pool side showers. The slide wasn't manned whilst we were there much to the kids disappointment. There is a little play area for younger kids (5yo and younger). It's max depth is 1.5m which is good for me with the kids as I can stand up whilst they are out of their depth learning to swim.the wave machine which I believe stopped working many years ago would be great to bring back. If they aren't going to get it working again, I wish they would cover it up, the bars in the water give me the creeps!

Negative experience: The car park was okay but will not be going back as not warm reception from the staff on desk. Did not use the facilities.

Positive experience: Great keep fit hall.

Positive experience: Relaxed atmosphere in the gym but also frustrating when someone decides to use the equipment as a resting place to go on their phone while other "serious' gym users are unable to access the equipment to help in their fitness. I noticed an individual on the leg press for over 20 minutes doing what I stated above.

Positive experience: It's a good swimming pool centre with a workout gym facility and parking lot. It's a disable person friendly leisure centre. The staff are great! The place is neat and well kept. It's got many lockers and good sized changing rooms and open and close shower rooms. It operates a one and a half hour swimming sessions. I love this place.
