Positive experience: Silent place. Large lawn . Good enough breakfast.

Positive experience: Stay here as located on the Science Park and close to the office. Main house is lovely but the annex rooms could do with an update and the fire alarm regularly goes off with the early showerers who leave the bathroom door open. Bar food a bi basic and restaurant a bit over priced. Good breakfast though.

Fantastic experience: One of my favourite hotels, brilliant service, amazing grounds and lovely rooms. Spa is nice too and the breakfast is very good and plentiful. Heartily recommend

Negative experience: Lovely place but although it says it’s dog friendly the staff are very nice but other guests that also have dogs can be very rude and nasty for some reason we stayed over Christmas with a Christmas package which was not worth the money very little entertainment lots not included as stated on the website not worth bothering with the electronic door cards don’t work very frustrating

Wayne Soffe 8 months ago

Negative experience: Executive room, towel rack loose ,shower rail loose, magnifying light up mirror didn't work, extractor fan didn't work, toilet roll holder loose, electronic room keys often don't work, room very small for an executive, TV should 32 inch but actually a 26 inch, buffet dinner absolutely shocking what there was left when we got there was not edible, Christmas dinner and absolute disaster 3 hours to be served a starter and main meal which was barely hot tried to complain about issues but it just went t over the management head just the worst experience would never return totally ruined our Christmas

Negative experience: Apparently this is the ‘king suite’ … the most expensive room selection on offer, which comes with its own water feature … in the ceiling ! The room was large and bed comfy however I felt uneasy that the ceiling may make its way down towards my head in the night ! We sat for a drink in the bar area which was decorated pleasantly for Christmas and was spacious, although the eau du sewage was a little off putting (avoid the sofa seating area to the left of the bar). The very unhelpful lady with bobbed blonde hair was rather unpleasant when we arrived to say we were having an afternoon tea and also had a room booked … it would appear that the afternoon tea was ok, but the room I was not even allowed to mention until check in at 3, although if looking posher it appears you can enter, that said I did see her clock off at about 2pm so I guess the 3pm guests are not her area of expertise. The restaurant lady was very friendly though and Socrates was an absolute delight for breakfast and I could happily have 10 of him ❤️

Fantastic experience: We had a lovely pre Christmas trip to Chilworth for an afternoon tea. The food was delicious and catered well for dietry requirements. The restaurant area was cosy and welcoming, but what really made it was the fantastic service from Cristina Mirtescu and the team. They were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Fantastic experience: Stopped here prior to going on a cruise. Although it was late when we got there the gardens did seem nice but too cold to venture out. Only a short drive to the port

Raven B. Chapman 9 months ago

Negative experience: Shockingly unprofessional staff (Natalie in particular was absolutely belligerent and unhelpful when our group ran into an issue with breakfast) and the rooms are filthy. The outside of the building seems beautiful, but then the inside looks like bad university dorm rooms and smells like cigarette smoke and bleach. Avoid this establishment and book something nicer for yourself.

Positive experience: Rather expensive for what you get . Beautiful grounds and manor buildings, unfortunately that's where it ends ,the photos of the rooms online must be in the manor house it's self ,as most of the other rooms are located in two adjoined annexes, accessed via a covered sloped corridor. The annexes probably added on around the 1980s going by the artex ceilings and are tired looking decor. These rooms are small purpose built no character but do the job all the usuals inluded, unfortunately the room being small compromised the layout and comfort bed ,smallest double bed ever with a well worn mattress showing every spring most uncomfortable night ,only one beside table and light (no room for two) . Opted for bed and breakfast, which was probably the best part of the stay ,buffet style and lots of choice although staff weren't monitoring or replenishing hot food quickly enough and guests were having to wait. Rooms on Web priced from £91 ,I paid £140 not value for money by the standard of our room, also expensive drinks from bar £11.96 for a coffee and small orange juice and lemonade . So grand looking place from reception and bar area although looking well worn in places,be prepared for long trek to rooms at far end of annexes, On positive the staff were polite and helpful but I would not use this venue again

Fantastic experience: Perfect for a one night stay where we needed it to be. Good value, nice room for the price and a good buffet breakfast.

Positive experience: For £145 a night wasn't worth it at all the garden view was a roof with rubbish and had mould in bathroom rust on mirror tv realy old and small and not quiet at all only good thing was breakfast

Fantastic experience: The grounds of this hotel are spectacular and as you drive in, you know you’re in for a treat. The customer service was great and having a pub on site is a nice touch. The attaching gym/pool/sauna/steam room/jacuzzi combo really brought it all together for me. I will be returning.

Fantastic experience: An excellent place to stay. Used it as was going on a cruise out of Southampton and an ideal place as not too far away but in a quiet location so I got a good night's sleep!

Negative experience: Unprofessional front desk staff member full of attitude ruined it for us. Couldn’t find anywhere to add dog to the booking (or price) when I booked so assumed they go free. On arrival was told it’s £15 for the dog but they were confused about the charges and told me it was refundable and was just a damage deposit. Fine however, on leaving I checked with her again just to confirm this and she said no actually it was £15 charge plus another £15 refundable deposit, so £30 total (with £15 refunded if no damage). I suggested it be added to the booking process so it’s not a surprise extra charge on arrival as I’d budgeted an amount and this was not made clear. I was met with attitude from the receptionist who said she pays for her dog when she stays in other hotels and it’s always added after, not during the booking purchase online. I politely suggested it be fed back for improvements and to be made clearer and she frowned and got defensive and hinted she wouldn’t be feeding back, making me feel like I was being unreasonable. I was polite and soft spoken throughout and felt like I was treated disrespectfully and not listened to. I recommend she goes on a customer service course and management are made aware of the confusion around charges for dogs. Had I known the full cost I would’ve compared prices with other hotels for the total and probably not stayed here. Surprise charges added on arrival are never nice and not good business, very sneaky mis-selling tactic.

Fantastic experience: Very comfortable hotel in a stately manor. Lovely setting in nature.

John Holmes 10 months ago

Negative experience: No parking spots left. Clearly people had left their cars there while they'd gone off on a cruise. No pet rooms left, in spite of it stating it was a pet friendly hotel on booking.com and no indication that it was even possible for them to run out of pet friendly rooms. The food in the bar was absolutely horrific. The chips were both overcooked and undercooked at the same time, and as dry as a cracker. The chicken in the chicken burger was a premade paste in the shape of burger that I haven't seen since the 1980s. Absolutely vile. On the plus side, the room was fine.

Negative experience: Didn't get to experience the rooms or anything because we were told they couldn't accommodate us as we had a dog despite advertising on hotels .com that they were pet friendly. We booked a room online through hotels.com as it was pet friendly. It didn't say we had to put that we had a dog and there was nowhere to add that. When we turned up after a long stressful drive we were treated with a young girl on the desk with a rude manner. She said they only put dogs in their ground floor rooms and they didn't have any. They said we should of contacted the hotel to tell them we had a dog despite that not being on hotels.com. she didn't say sorry or sympathise with the confusing or misleading information she just said it was our fault and we couldn't stay there. It was late in the evening we were tired and hungry and had to find alternative accomodation and extremely short notice. Not once were we told they were sorry. Disgusting treatment at this day and age.

Claire Kinrade 11 months ago

Positive experience: Went for afternoon tea here and requested a vegan ,gluten free option due to dietary constraints. I have to say for the cost, it was very poor. The sandwiches fell apart, one scone with butter and jam and 4 tiny 'chocolate ' brownies which were awful. I know it's tricky catering for special requirements but if you offer it and can't fulfil it well, then maybe it shouldn't be an option. The service was not great either . I don't think I'd go here again for afternoon tea, even if it was for a gift.

Positive experience: Cramped room for the price...and £84 for 4 burgers that took over an hour to prepare is ridiculous

Positive experience: Comfortable room, but very "out of the way". Not a lot of choices for dinner. Definitely need a car if staying here.

Fantastic experience: The last time I stayed at Chilworth Manor was almost 20 years ago. I was very happy to be returning and was not disappointed. I received a warm and friendly welcome and found my room, although basic, to be well appointed and absolutely spotless. The included breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold options and the staff could not have been more attentive and friendly. I will not be leaving it another 20 years before I return.

Fantastic experience: Really wonderful hotel, beautiful facilities. The last time I visited however there was a wedding being held which my colleague could hear from their room until late, impacting their sleep.

Fantastic experience: We booked the cruise package & upgraded to a suite which was lovely. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary & the suite was decorated with balloons, rose petals & towel art. All the staff were very friendly, especially Evangelos in the restaurant who has a great sense of humour. The food in the restaurant was amazing & we were given a complementary glass of Prosecco. The taxi transfer to the port & back was easy & stress free.

Fantastic experience: I recently stayed at this hotel before embarking on a cruise, and it proved to be an excellent choice. The value was outstanding, especially considering the convenience of leaving our car there during the trip. The food was delightful, offering a variety of options that were both tasty and well-prepared. Despite the hotel being quite busy, the staff managed everything efficiently and maintained a welcoming atmosphere. Their attentiveness and professionalism truly enhanced our experience. We were just like to say that Millie was absolutely fantastic so friendly so helpful and she really made us feel so welcome Overall, it's a great option for anyone looking for a convenient and pleasant pre-cruise stay.

Negative experience: On arriving we could not park near hotel as car park near hotel was full of cars left while people had gone on cruise. The first room had trouble with the toilet so was moved to another room which was not very big also overlooked delivery area so was woken up early with deliverys also fire alarm went off 6 o'clock with false alarm. On opening windows they were full of cobwebs had to open to cool room. Cleanliness was not great either, staff not very helpful one morning I wanted a espresso cup and was told to go through to the bar and find one. If you wanted food from bar menu it was nearly all just different burgers and chips also drink were expensive had enough by the end so left day early would not go back.

Positive experience: Stayed here when visiting a friend who lives in Winchester. This is a kind of no thrills hotel. Rooms are basic (and so is the food) but the building itself is lovely and all the staff were super friendly. For the price it’s definitely value for money.

Positive experience: Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast, ok dinner. Great character.

Marek Masiukiewicz 1 year ago

Negative experience: False fire alarm went off at 6 am. I can see from the reviews this is not a first time. Room was extremely hot. Could have windows open for cool air but people where loud outside till about 1130pm and there was a constant loud hum from a machine outside. Decend spa/ food/ grounds where very nice. But gave this one star as the sole purpose of staying was for a restful sleep which did not happen.

Linda de Sosa 1 year ago

Positive experience: We arrived with reservation for 2 rooms as a family package. They bumped us into rooms no where near each other because a wedding was in house. Furthermore, we had to take our own suitcases to the rooms which was inconvenient because I was in a wheelchair. The wedding took over the place and we were not the only ones complaining about the inconvenience and noise. So, in summary, this place might be atmospheric for weddings, but do NOT book in conjunction with a Paultons Park family package.

Positive experience: A great few days stay the only issue was there was never parking near the hotel entrance we always had ti use the overflow parking which is quite a walk when you have a fair bit of luggage to carry. Apart from that the staff are great the room was nice with a fair bit of room to move about, the bed was very comfy and the grounds where vast. Larger/beer resonably priced, soft drinks and wine was a bit pricey also the tea/coffee was pricey. The breakfast was 5star, best cooked breakfast ive had in a long time, plenty there all self serve with plenty of room to sit down and enjoy.

Laura Lagonigro 1 year ago

Negative experience: The appearance of this place is very misleading. The low overall score is totally justified and if anything, generous. If you have no patience, avoid this place at all costs! The basic room is clean, and here the good things stop. Decor is sad and miserable, pillows are clumped, mattress is springy, the location is quite a walk away from reception, which wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't that the magnetic card didn't work both times I used it. You're stranded in the middle of nowhere, which obviously I knew when I booked, but I relied on using the bar.... Big mistake! The bar service is really slow and not attentive. When I arrived at dinner time, at 19.30, there was no one at the bar, with all tables occupied and 3-4 people waiting. After almost 10 minutes, they show up... 2-3 of them. When I finally ordered at 19.45 all the burgers were gone and I had no choice but to order from the restaurant menu. I paid £21 for a trout dish and £6 for a large bottle of water and they didn't even given me a glass. I sat at the only table in front of the door. I asked for the table to be wiped and they wipe AROUND everything that was on the table... When I write this, it has been 50 minutes and I am still waiting to get the food. Next time, to have a better experience, I will go to Travelodge and will order on deliveroo... Update: after 1 hour the dish was "being plated" and after a further 10 minutes I asked for a refund. Their justification: the kitchen is very busy. Downgraded to 1 star for making your customers starve. A disgrace.

mandy lai 1 year ago

Negative experience: Hotel itself is beautiful and staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the overall experience was disappointing. There was no AC in the room and the windows don't open fully. It was a very uncomfortable and hot night. Our room was very close to the kitchen which was very noisy. The smoke from the kitchen triggered the fire alarm which woke us in the early morning. Fire alarm also went off during our breakfast, so we had to stop eating and went outside. However, no staff told us how to evacuate safely.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic and peaceful. Big open rooms and really lovely staff. Access to a gym just a short walk across the car park and the pool was lovely. Highly recommend the steak on the menu but the burger at the bar is also very nice.

Positive experience: Last night we stayed at Chilworth Manor and was disappointed. It's a real shame because the hotel itself is beautiful. However, the service and amenities did not match the setting. After returning late from an event, we found that there were no snacks or crisps available at the bar, an issue since there was no food service after 9pm. Further to this, there was no water in our rooms, leaving us without water throughout the night. The following morning, we discovered that breakfast ended at 9:30am and checkout was at 10am. This information was not communicated to us at check-in. As a result, despite paying for breakfast, we had to leave without it, embarking on a long drive home on an empty stomach. Overall, the lack of basic amenities and poor communication made our stay unsatisfactory, despite its lovely appearance.

Positive experience: Clean and spacious room, good night’s sleep, however the Breakfast service let it down. Too many empty breakfast areas with lack of food, bowls, milk! Etc and staff walking through but not re-filling unless asked. Massive queues by the hot food area. Probably just a one-off, and the hotel itself was nice with pleasant staff.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding here in October 2023 and honestly it was the best choice ever! The constant communication throughout was outstanding. Pheobe was phenomenal and George our coordinator on the day was an absolute god send and he has beautiful hair. Every member of staff we encountered especially the cleaners who left a lovely note for us in our suite (brought a tear to my eye) and Donna the crew member for our breakfast the day after was excellent. The whole day turned out beautifully all thanks to George and the team. Thank you Chilworth Manor. Mr and Mrs Colbourne

Negative experience: As my Mother would say Fur coat and no knickers! The venue looks lovely and is an appealing location for photographs. The staff are really helpful but looks like they are working in difficult circumstances. The good points stop there! The rooms are tired and outdates, one of my colleagues found his bath waste filled with vomit. He was given a new room but really this shouldnt happen. Dinner was like an episode of Fawlty Towers. The bar menu was burger 6 options or fish and chips. My colleague allergic to peas couldnt order the fish and chips as the staff couldnt work out how to remove peas form their order. The burgers were overcooked dry and nasty, topped with slices of processed cheese. Orders from the restaurant werent much better, one colleague received overcooked steak which had been sliced, chips and no garnish. It looked as though someone had returned the dish and it had been served to her by accident. The honey pannacotta was rubbery, over sweet and tasted mostly of cream. The tuile was soggy and the berry compote looked and tasted as though it had come from a jar of jam. The meals were very poor and overpriced. Sadly the venue seems to be going through a hard time and standards have definetly fallen

Fantastic experience: Came here for prom a week ago and I have to say firstly the location was nice and peaceful with a beautiful site and building. A nice parking space for all the cars to come in to bring everyone. Service was nice however food was wasn’t the best but the fries were nice. Didn’t see much of the staff but they were decent. Nice dance floor for everyone to fit and a quieter room and outside area to rest. Overall a very nice experience.

Fantastic experience: The whole facilities was in such great condition. Such a posh smart place to stay for a fantastic price! Would recommend to friends & family. You will be blown away when you first see the place as it looks so posh & nice. No wonder it's used as a wedding venue!

Positive experience: Not a bad hotel but wouldn't visit again for the cost. Wanted to work remotely for a couple days with a friend and whilst the bar was nice to work from, there weren't any plugs. The breakfast was sold as an English breakfast, however it was just a buffet breakfast. The rooms were disappointing, very dated, we were in the modern part of the hotel. There are no ceiling lights, only a couple wall lights so the room is very dark. The grounds are beautiful The staff were lovely and helpful. Afternoon tea was lovely!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I just got married at Chilworth Manor in 31st May 2024 and we had the most amazing time ever! Hannah, Millie and the team really could not have done more and they really did make sure all of my guests were catered for and ensured all stress was kept away from us on our special day! Especially when our events company did not live up to expectations the staff worked tirelessly to ensure our day was not impacted. Planning for the wedding we did have some issues however we discussed this with them prior to the event and all our concerns were addressed promptly. The location is absolutely stunning and the building itself has been modernised but still has some attributes that some people may call “dated” but it’s an old manor, the character needs to be kept to some degree! The food was amazing and the bar and breakfast staff was outstanding, the Greek barman was so friendly and made sure my husband and I was always having the most amazing time. The rooms are clean and spacious the beds are comfortable are so comfortable. My father was placed in a duplex room which I wish I had both nights I stayed. If you are looking for a getaway or planning a wedding then I strongly recommend this venue, and Hannah and the events team really will give you the best day you could hope for…just sorry it’s all over! Well done Chilworth team!

Positive experience: The good points first - It's a lovely building to look at, and the function rooms are really nice. We stayed overnight with breakfast included. The breakfast was excellent. Now the not so good points- The bedroom we stayed in , was tired and dated, with no air conditioning. The decor was showing its age, with cracks and lines in the paintwork. The bed was mattress was clearly at the end of its lifespan; the springs graunched, and vibrated through the bed so much so, that whenever my wife or I turned over to the point that we woke each other up... at the price Best Western are charging we expected much better. Travel Lodge, or Premier Inn, offers better value rooms with more comfort.

Fantastic experience: Was gonna write a review on TripAdvisor but my brother has actually not completed his stay, so will do it properly then, as I think it’s more thorough and you can explore a bit more of the customer exp Just wanted to write this review now though, as my brother has today (!!) gotten married. I organised a hotel room for him and his beautiful wife at Chilworth BW a few weeks ago Called up today afternoon to see if they could jazz the room up a little, roses and that, only to hear they already had done so! What service. Then a guy called Robson in front desk assured me that he will keep an eye out for my brother and his wife, which was really reassuring, and touching As I say - the ‘stay’ hasn’t actually happened yet. But based off the gorgeous photos and stellar remote service so far I’m sure it will be a fantastic place to spend some time off. Thanks and warm regards. Big up Robbo

Fantastic experience: Had a great weekend at Chilworth as soon as we arrived at reception we were greeted by friendly staff .our room was very clean and spacious and had good facilities the bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great night sleep after travelling. Breakfast in the morning was excellent with a great choice of cereals and paisteries the full English breakfast was very nice and hot as they kept replenishing the food as it was taken although a few people could be heard complaining that they had run out of sausages if they had just waited a second they would have been restocked as every thing was .a beautiful place with lots of facilities we used the swimming pool jacuzzi and sauna all excellent. The grouds were beautiful. And the hotel is dog friendly too would highly recommend and we definitely be returning in the future. we'll done to all the staff at Chilworth.

Negative experience: Pros: - Beautiful surroundings - wonderful service, especially at the restaurant - the price - clean Cons: DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT: I ordered the "curry" and should have sent it back. The rice was warmed up Uncle Ben's, the "curry" itself was chip shop curry sauce with chickpeas and 3 mushrooms. Atrocious! Paid £20 for this. - The beds are trampolines, so if you travel as a couple, better book twin beds or you'll be woken up ever time one of you moves. - Toilet paper and tissues are sandpaper and the spare roll was in an unhygienic place so you'd be wiping yourself with previous guest's ... better bring your own. - In need of modernization Because of the restaurant rip-off and rickety beds I'd choose not to stay again.

Peter Tucker 1 year ago

Positive experience: The wifi was rather slow but, I suppose, adequate. The shower was very good and the bed was comfortable which are the really crucial aspects of a stay. However, dinner in the restaurant was terrible. My food was fine but nothing special for the price. But my wife had to send her first meal back as she ordered a pie and was given the chicken. When the pie eventually arrived it was badly undercooked and inedible. The third time was ok, even if it seemed rapidly microwaved. By this time I had finished my meal so we could not eat together, spoiling the evening. The waiting staff were rather inattentive during this time, although the restaurant was not busy - it felt like we were being ignored.

Fantastic experience: Dinner menu was very varied with a good selection of meals. We both had very enjoyable meals although my pie did not come with vegetables initially and I queried where they were and was promptly served with them after apologising for the omission. Good selection of wines.

Positive experience: We stayed here this last weekend. The room was very nice. The bed however was very rickety so every movement was felt. The smoke detector is right outside the bathroom door. So steam from that set the alarm off from another room VERY scarey. Perhaps the alarm should be moved further in the room? We did make use of the pool which was very relaxing. However the jacuzzi & hot tub wasn't working disappointing. All clean staff very friendly. Very disappointed regarding the breakfast yesterday arrived at 10am breakfast is till 11am. There was no bacon! With an hour left & no attempt to cook anymore was very poor!!!! So clearly doesn't pay to avoid the peek time. The evening meal was very limited & expensive.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely experience. Beautiful hotel with superb surroundings. Everyone from reception, bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. We had an exceptional meal in the restaurant. We were served by Melissa, who looked after us extremely well. Very professional and attentive. I Would definitely book again. My only thoughts were that this hotel has the potential to be 5 star, I'm surprised it isn't. Looking at the reviews from the spa side of things, I guess that's your issue right there. The rooms were nice but I did scratch my head regarding the executive room we booked. The room was nothing more than what you'd find in a holiday inn. The price was very reasonable and for this reason I'm still very happy we stayed. I would definitely recommend and most certainly stay here again.

Negative experience: Very dissapointing. A group of 7 of us had booked and paid for a spa day with treatments. We had email correspondence from one member of the spa team re our treatment times. Then out of the blue we received a call from a other member of the spa team who said she could see that her colleague had not mentioned it but there are children's swim lessons on and children's swim session all afternoon in the pool. Not the relaxing spa day we are looking for! Why would they book children's swimming with ladies on a spa day? We have now cancelled our booking, but staff were unhelpful about getting our money back amd have sent us on a goose chase to another company to get our refund Will definitely not be booking here again

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful stay. Booked a 2 night stay for myself and my fiancée to celebrate our engagement, and it was a wonderful stay. The staff were all lovely and so helpful. The room was beautiful and clean. The swimming pool was amazing and such a nice treat when your away. Will definitely stay again. Location is ideal if wanting to go to Southampton. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Negative experience: Please avoid using this place for a spa day... it is misleading online. Far from a spa day... they had children's swimming lessons going on... very dirty changing rooms and wee and over flowing water on the floors. Sauna was broken. Too many chemicals in the jacuzzi which was burning our eyes. And the massage therapist was extremely young and unprofessional. Avoid this place. Worst spa day I've ever had.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly, caring and helpful team. Beautiful, relaxing place and a lovely spa experience. Very clean room with a comfortable bed.

Negative experience: We booked as spa members. The pool is clean but the changing rooms and the showers are dirty and run down, debris littering from one week to another. Only hotel guests are issued with a towel considering the cost that isn't good value for money. The pool is often occupied by classes so the pool can't be used. It has been a very disappointing experience. The staff are not customer friendly. The whole experience is substandard. I am relieved we only took 3 month trial membership.

Positive experience: Lovely location, absolutely beautiful. Great service all staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were a little disappointed with the room (20), we had paid extra for an Executive room and the room was very small, basic in our opinion. It was all we needed, a place to sleep and wash but overall we were disappointed. The pool and spa was a short walk away, the pool and spa area itself was perfect, very clean. The changing rooms however were a let down, broken lockers and very grubby. Breakfast was okay, no hash browns though. Overall we were disappointed with some aspects however we did have a good stay and we would stay again but next time not upgrade the room as we felt it wasn't worth it.

Fantastic experience: Booked for the night as the lad had county darts in Southampton early on the Saturday morning and didn't fancy a 3 hour drive before hand. Rooms were excellent and also spotless along with the bar area and reception. Bed was comfortable and there was no noise so we had a great night's sleep. We booked breakfast (£12.50) and what a selection you got, there was everything you could want and the gentleman waiting on said if there was anything you couldn't see he would get it for you. Everything was self service and the gentleman took away your used pots. Car parking was great room for 200 cars. Found a gem and will definitely use again if Warwickshire are drawn away to Hampshire. It was 3 miles from the venue. It's about 5 miles to the cruise liners port so very handy. Couldn't fault it, paid £107 for 2 double rooms for one night.

Negative experience: Our room is awful, small cold miserable and depressing. The bed is not even a full size double, dirty net curtains at the window, inadequate lighting, old fashioned shower over bath. Seems clean on the plus side. Very disappointed. The bar has little atmosphere, no music playing or Anthony to make it feel welcoming. Staff were nice and friendly and the grounds are nice.

Fantastic experience: The hotel was home away from home. Staff were friendly and always willing to help. The environment was so quiet and peaceful. The room was clean, and the bed was comfy. I recommend

Positive experience: Great hotel with an old time charm.. wouldn't think you were next to the university. Quiet and welcoming..need new beds though. Not the best night's sleep.

Fantastic experience: Great manor hotel, especially for the price I paid! I paid £64 for the executive double room and at that price it can be worrying that the price is so low for a reason. However the room itself, plus all the function rooms and hallways were clean and tidy. Very warm inside also! My only small issue is that the "executive room" we got didn't really feel much bigger and better than what a regular room would've been. But it was cheap so not the end of the world. But the highlight for us was the included Pool, Hot tub, Sauna and Steam room. Just a one minute walk from the front entrance and included in the price of the room! Would recommend and definitely would stay again!

Positive experience: Upgraded to room 1....we didn't realise it was a duplex room and was over two floors. Note to one self... It's not good for over 50s trying to climb the old servants' quarters, sort of spiral Edwardian stairs...that mistake won't happen again! It is a lovely room, though. View of the gardens was lovely so pleased the mountain goat in me climbed them stairs as the view to the garden was worth it in the end . The owl at 3.30 am was joyous too! The trek to the old part and room 1 is riddled with stairs and no lift...be warned! The prices are pricey...but its a hotel, so that's the deal, I guess. Receptionist lady and gent on the Saturday we stayed, we're wonderfully helpful about taxis and the check.in. The bar food and service on Saturday afternoon was slow and tables not emptied or cleaned... but I think they were struggling for staff or maybe they were between shifts. The burger was not cooked well, but they didn't quibble when it got sent back, and we asked for a refund. The husband was disappointed, but he'd been put off by then to risk trying another...nowt wrong with my sandwiches and chips. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I'd stay here again. Lovely grounds to walk around and amenities to use.

Fantastic experience: Lovely 1 night stay. Room was luxurious, bar and dining room had a lovely atmosphere and felt all Christmassy. Breakfast was excellent quality and the gentleman front of house was very charming. Thank you we will return.

Negative experience: Location is good as well as lovely grounds - That's all positive I can say about this hotel. We had a dining experience voucher with my wife. Drove 1h and 30 mins to the hotel. Called on a day before to book a table, but a young man on the phone said that no booking was necessary and he'd ''sort us out on the day''. So we arrived, went to the bar, explained the situation, were sent to reception, reception sent us back to the bar. Young girl at the bar then went to kitchen to inquire, then another more mature lady came with her to advise that she would need to check with the chef. After few minutes she said: ''I'm sorry but there is no food for you under your option, you needed to book in advance, which is not your fault but you see we are buzy with xmas etc...'' She offered a cup of coffee(something stronger would be better but we wouldn't be persuaded of course). Disappointing!!! - went back to the car and had a pub lunch nearby. Will not return to this place, it does not even look a 5 star establishment with shabby building and weird interior which looks much like an old country club, with weird people walking about in their slippers, kids bare feet.....I'd avoid this place!

Fantastic experience: Stayed there for a night. We had a Christmas party there. In fact, it's the third time we've had our Christmas party there. The food is excellent, and the service was great.

Fantastic experience: Let’s start with a question – why is this hotel, not a four or five-star hotel? As a reviewer, I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel, and I must say, my experience was outstanding from the moment I walked through the doors. The friendly receptionists warmly welcomed me, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. One of the standout features of this hotel is the convenience of online check-in, which allows guests to save time by filling out necessary information ahead of their arrival. Upon entering the lounge, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the old manor house. The open fire in the centre of the room created a cosy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with a drink or enjoying a good book. The ample seating arrangements, including the provision of quieter areas in adjoining rooms, ensured that there was always a comfortable spot to unwind after a long day. Speaking of drinks, the bar at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel certainly did not disappoint. The prices were reasonable, and the selection of drinks was extensive. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, a cocktail enthusiast, or a beer aficionado, there is something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the attention to detail given to the presentation of the drinks, with each one being expertly crafted. Moving on to the room, I had the pleasure of staying in room number 3. The layout was spacious and clean, with a double bed positioned against one wall. The two large windows offered breathtaking views of the extensive grounds and let in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The bathroom was also ample in size, featuring both a shower and a bath. I must commend the housekeeping staff on their exceptional attention to cleanliness. While the overall experience in the room was superb, there were a few minor issues worth noting. The television provided was on the smaller side and could benefit from an upgrade. Additionally, the lighting near the table and chairs was insufficient for reading or working. These minor shortcomings, however, did not detract significantly from the overall experience. The breakfast experience at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel was a delight. The buffet style allowed guests to choose from a variety of well-prepared hot food items, catering to different preferences and dietary requirements. The availability of continental breakfast items was also appreciated, and I was particularly impressed by the presence of two coffee machines and one fresh juice machine, ensuring that guests could enjoy a wide range of beverages to start their day on the right foot. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit The Club, the hotel's spa located a short walk away. The amenities provided were impressive, including a sauna, steam room, large swimming pool, hot tub, and gym. I was delighted to discover that usage of The Club facilities is complimentary for hotel guests. This added value is a true testament to the commitment of Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel to providing an exceptional experience for their guests. In conclusion, my stay at Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel was nothing short of remarkable. From the friendly reception and quick check-in process to the cosy lounge with its open fire, the hotel exudes warmth and hospitality. The well-appointed room, with its breathtaking views and ample bathroom, was a pleasure to stay in. The breakfast offered a variety of delicious options, and the availability of The Club facilities added a touch of luxury to the overall experience. While there were a few minor issues, they did not significantly impact the overall enjoyment of my stay. I highly recommend Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and memorable stay in a beautiful setting. Answer to the question - on two of the morning the breakfast restaurant resembled a tradesman cafeteria with different uniforms and logos and dress some covered in paint and other building grime.

Negative experience: Our room was cold overnight. Phoned the reception desk and had no reply at all it just rang and rang. When our party finished, we were told the bar by reception would be open. 9 of us sat by the fire talking for well over an hour and not a single barman or woman bothered to show up. Overall, it was a poor customer experience.

Negative experience: So I had a booking on the 15/11/23 at 4:30pm for an afternoon tea and before we left,we called so many times to inform them that there was a possibility of us being late but no one picked .Upon arrival, we were met by this gentleman who was walking around and looked like he was a manager.Ge asked me if I was ok,informed him that I and my sister and cousin had come for afternoon tea.He directed us to the restaurant and we stood out by the menu board whilst he went to speak to the waiter. The waiter was not far from us as we could hear what they were saying. The gentleman asked if the restaurant had an afternoon tea reservation and the lady said no.The gentleman came to us and asked if I had the email which I presented to him and he then went back and Asked the waiter if the restaurant could accommodate us.The gentleman then came to us and said we were going to be seated in the library as it was nice and quite. For sure we were taken to the library.Sat down and was asked what tea we wanted and said earl grey tea and informed them that we were still waiting for one more person that was stuck in traffic from Basingstoke. Before we knew it, we had the sandwiches and cakes in front of us! To make it worse not everything was in threes. The sandwiches were in threes but nothing else! Our cousin came to join us and and me and my sister had already eaten the sandwiches. We waited for someone to check on us if we needed anything else but we’re not checked on.At this time we had been waiting for a pot of tea to the point that I had to go and ask for one. I was not asked what sort of tea we were having and was given tetley tea instead of earl grey.A pot of tea was dropped at the table and no one checked on us for another hour and a half. I had to go again and ask for the bill so we could be on our way. The lady came with the bill and asked if all went well but I had nothing nice to say but just said it was alright. My family did notsay anything. I am disappointed with the experience I have had.I always thought this was a great place to come for afternoon teas.Currently I would not recommend this not anyone.Someone else that has been for the afternoon tea told me of their experience and thought I would prove them wrong. But instead I went and compared notes with them.

Positive experience: The hotel is quite nice with good leisure facilities. The breakfast is standard across Best Westerns. The service at the bar and at breakfast in the morning is what really stands out for me at this location. There is a gentleman working in the mornings called Socrates. He is so attentive, sharp and his memory is impeccable. He's friendly, welcoming and I just have to give him a shout out for being excellent in the hospitality industry. I've stayed 3 times at this hotel and he knows what I want for breakfast and encourages me to eat healthier options. He's a hospitality hero and many could take a leaf out of his book!

Fantastic experience: A lovely hotel. Set in a historic house with beautiful gardens to walk in and stunning views. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the interior decoration in the old house is stunning with oak panelling and a large open fire. The restaurant is lovely, great food and generous breakfast. Location spot on for Southampton and surrounding Hampshire attractions. I have stayed here regularly on business trips and love it. Having stayed in many other hotels in the surrounding areas, as far as quality vs. cost, this is great and well worth the visit.

Positive experience: Extremely RUDE check-in staff!!! We had checked-in online and was asked the arrival time which I gave as 11am and was surprised the options were so early. On arrival, I was informed check-in was from 3pm! I highlighted that we had checked in online and was given the option of 11am to which I was abruptly informed "You can check-in early and will cost you £25.00" the website didn't mention a huge surcharge if we wanted to check-in early! I asked were the rooms ready and the 2 check-in ladies looked at each other and started mouthing something and 1 started to call housekeeping then hung up and exclaimed NO!, I commented you haven't called housekeeping so how can you tell??? She then proceeded to glance at her monitor and exclaim "my screen informs me" we passed on the offer of the £25.00 Surcharge and returned later. I believe this is misleading coupled with the rude staff It was a very disappointing experience!!!

Positive experience: The was the first visit in a few years, the manor is still stunning, but our room looked over a kitchen, it was very hot and noisy. The room wasn't great for an executive suite. The food was not as good as last time, not enough choice tbh. The staff are great and very friendly though.

Positive experience: We had a pleasant stay at Chilworth Manor. Rooms were acceptable but not outstanding. Gardens had probably looked stunning in former times but there were large areas where brambles had taken over and took the shine off the experience. Much of the garden furniture had see better days and could do with maintenance or replacement Staff were very helpful and polite - especially the reception team. We got a cheery hello from the housekeeping team every morning. Food standard was OK but over priced. Ditto for drinks from the bar.
