Our comment from FitFit UK about Aireborough Leisure Centre:
The Aireborough Leisure Centre in Leeds is a community-focused facility that provides a range of services for fitness and leisure enthusiasts. Visitors have praised the clean and modern gym, which features a good selection of equipment, though some have noted that the gym can feel cramped during peak times. Despite this, many users have expressed satisfaction with the numerous fitness classes available, highlighting the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The swimming pool is described as lovely and is appreciated for hosting various swimming sessions and inflatable swim parties that are great for families. However, there have been some concerns regarding the changing facilities, which some users feel are in need of refurbishment and better cleanliness.
Additionally, the centre houses a café and a library, adding to its appeal as a one-stop destination for leisure activities. With ongoing improvements, the Aireborough Leisure Centre aims to enhance the user experience further.

Aireborough Leisure Centre: Opinions
Positive experience: I wasn't impressed by the gym coming from using a PureGym for a number of years. It doesn't have enough equipment for the numbers that use it and not the widest selection of weight machines either. It's also pretty cramped so you feel on top of each other. The changing room also needs a refresh as looking old and tired with a poor layout. There is some building work going on at the moment so hopefully they'll be improving the facilities and I can come back to try it again.
Fantastic experience: Great local leisure centre with decent quality gym and some good fitness classes.
Negative experience: Instructor interrupted my squat set telling me what i did wrong fair enough as i was doing it the wrong way but to be threatened to be barred for smiling to be polite is an extent.
Positive experience: Lovely pool, most of the staff are lovely too, but they still have these 45 minute slots their manager is obsessed with. Public pool, stop catering for individuals and open the pool!!
Fantastic experience: Didn't use facilities, however PhysioMed have a room here, hence my reason to visit
Fantastic experience: Great facility
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool and gym. Modern and clean.
Fantastic experience: Really happy with my membership. Lots included and very good facilities. Particularly happy with gym equipment and virtual spin classes
Negative experience: Absolutely horrible, filthy place. Everything is dirty, smells wee or poo, nothing works, no hairdryer, people in shoes waking everywhere like a pool area, in the shower etc. Dirty, dirty and smelly place.
Positive experience: Nice gymn, good selection of machines. Try to avoid busy times.
Negative experience: I got impaled with a needle in the bathroom
Negative experience: Toilets disgusting clogged for 6 months and stank very uncomfortable environment
Fantastic experience: It has been completely re-done recently and it looks very modern and clean. Having the library and the cafe in the same building is an added bonus. The staff member who dealt with us was very friendly and helpful, applying for Leeds Cards. The library has a great selection of books across all genres - adults and children. There are comfy seats to sit in while browsing. Also the online Leeds library facilities are excellent - Libby and Borrow Box.
Negative experience: Seemingly impossible for the staff to get a swimming session started on time, literally runs later every week. Pool are staffed by teenagers who just don't look interested
Positive experience: Pretty good. Fun family swim. We could take rings in. So kids loved it. And they had large body sized floats.. Shame we had an altercation in the carpark with People not from the local area. Claiming they had rights to a parking spot by standing in it. Then proceeding to swear whilst Children were about. They appear to be unable to dress correctly, ( dressing gowns and crocs no socks ) so I guess it makes sense they can't behave correctly. Need to implement an area Postcode use system perhaps.
Fantastic experience: Lovely pool and leisure centre, with a café library and outdoor playground
Fantastic experience: Visited for the inflatable swim session. Lots of fun, pool & changing rooms clean enough.
Fantastic experience: Great facility. Good knowlegeable helpful and friendly staff. Too many classes and activities to list here. Visit the website. 25 m swimming pool. 15m toddlers pool. Structured classes supervised for 1 - 5 years accompanied. Indoor sports yoga pilates etc. Very reasonable prices. Concessions. See for yourself. Meet new people!
Negative experience: Gym class instructor was far too harsh. Really embarrassing being told off for doing something wrong over and over again and physically shouted at. Please think about how you treat people, I haven't exercised for about two years and granted struggled to keep up with the class but felt very singled out and sadly I won't be going back now.
Fantastic experience: Fab
Positive experience: I like the gym but it’s way too small if it were bigger I would be able to go on the the equipment I want too same for other people
Positive experience: Decent facilities, just a shame when it's full of school kids just sitting on gym equipment and not using them
Fantastic experience: Strongly recommend coming to the leisure centre in Guiseley. I use the gym regularly, which has all the equipment I need. There's plenty of fitness classes, too, which are well attended, so booking in advance is required. In terms of joining the gym, the prices are very good, and give you access to all the Leeds leisure centres' facilities. There is a café, and even the local library is based here now, prompting me to rejoin it! Staff are always extremely helpful and friendly. There is the pool, too, which I can not comment on as I haven't used it since the refurb! The place is usually nicely busy without being crowded when I go during the day and people you meet are usually friendly. There's plenty of free parking next to the building. The leisure centre is very much a part of the community, so it's great seeing it thriving as it currently is.
Fantastic experience: I went swimming, it was great
Fantastic experience: My daughter's had an inflatable swim party yesterday at Aireborough, just amazing, the staff were brilliant, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A special thank you to the on duty manager you were great, sorry I didn't get your name...thanks again...we will be back!!!
Positive experience: Good combo of library and leisure centre. Shame they haven't modernised badminton courts yet but 4, ok, hard floored courts available (+activity room with low ceiling). Getting rid of hanging heaters and adding sprung floors would improve to 5 stars!
Fantastic experience: Clean and a nice place to swim
Fantastic experience: Good
Positive experience: Not too busy, good experience, changing room floors had mud on them could do with a bit if a clean in between sessions. But other than that great.
Negative experience: Absolutely rubbish booking system- class half emoty this week but overbooked for next week and a waiting list of people from this weeks class. Everybody complaining about it
Fantastic experience: Fantastic leisure centre. Really nice facilities. Pool is great and lots of classes etc. the gym looks like new and squash courts which are great. You can book everything using an app if you’ve got the Leeds active card, you can amend and cancel as well.
Fantastic experience: Played badminton there, been using sports centre for years, very good
Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy. Not too busy. Friendly staff as always. Great for a family badminton session.
Fantastic experience: fab zumba class
Fantastic experience: Excellent Pilates class on Friday 9-10. Very skilled instructor. Very calm and encouraging manner . Friendly and personable. Might there be space in the timetable to do another Pilates class ? Thank you. Kathrin Dunning.
Positive experience: Clean & tidy venue with a small cafe & local library on site. Swimming pool, sports hall, gym & various classes available. Friendly staff & car parking on site
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff, despite being a small gym there is a wonderful sense of community and respect. Plenty of sanitizing stations and gym staff available to answer queries, all in all and incredible experience 100/10 reccomend!!
Fantastic experience: Joe was an amazing help in the gym, gave me some amazing advice and tips!
Fantastic experience: Very enjoyable swim ♀️ thank you
Fantastic experience: Swimming!! And it’s all new and clean now and the changing rooms are more family friendly!!
Negative experience: Probably the worst gym I’ve been to. You get a 1 hour slot and can never get on the equipment you want and there is a poor selection of classes that will only benefit you if your retired and can go at odd times of the day. The gym is cleanish and staff are friendly enough but being government subsidised no one really cares if you pay or cancel your membership as they will continue to be paid and supported regardless. A poor poor service. I would recommend (if you can afford it) going to Nuffield health gym or any other gym
Fantastic experience: All Covid19 restrictions in place, very clean, staff friendly and very helpful receptionist on the desk.
Fantastic experience: Staff brilliant, doing their best to keep everyone safe, newly refurbished and will be great when back to normal
Positive experience: Pool was 32 degrees - 1st day after lockdown! Much cooler in following weeks
Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to go there and very helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Excellent!
Fantastic experience: Brilliant people, great facilities and wonderful, big pool
Negative experience: Worst gym I've been to yet. Staff sat chatting while ppl stand in rain. If you want to get away from home somewhere warm to play with your phone this is the gym for you. Half full of ego the other half are melts. Water coming through roof onto machines. Holds max 20 ppl if all machines working properly. IF!! Only good thing is weights are in order and its halfway to being clean
Fantastic experience: Easy to book gym sessions online. Well managed queueing. Very clean and well managed distancing in the gym room. Great staff.
Positive experience: Recently refurbished facility with lots to offer under one roof, cafe and library available. Lovely big swimming pool with modern changing village access.
Fantastic experience: Aireborough, attended yoga this morning, place was clean and plenty of space to feel safe.Yoga teacher excellent.
Positive experience: Really friendly staff but diving board rarely out when the session info says it will be. Very disappointed kids
Negative experience: Regarding Sunday mornings and swimming. I’d avoid. It’s gradually getting worse on a Sunday morning as it gets busier. So many young families unsure and cold in the main pool waiting to get into the smaller pool. Babies shivering, toddlers cold and no room to swim or even play. Today they had lanes set out which made it even more crowded. It isn’t much better once you are out. Changing tables broken, lockers too. It’s so cold when you come out, one would expect a warm shower but showers were so cold we avoided them too. The floors are dirty. Holt Park is luxury compared to here. Surely they can put the heating on?
Positive experience: Clean and fresh. Friendly staff.
Negative experience: Swimming pool a joke now. General swim times are at impossible times. Sunday has changed again 2 lanes sectioned off diving area sectioned off. So general swim is like swimming in a sardine can. Too many people . Not enjoyable at all. I will not be going again. Sundays should be left alone. No need for lanes and lessons. Let the public have fun. . Maximum swim time it 1 hour 3/4. I would give zero rating if i could
Negative experience: Good facilities, newly refurbished. Such a shame the staff are so rude and unhelpful. Apart from one male lifeguard, who had a smile, the staff are miserable and just don’t care. Last Sunday the water in the small pool was warm and ideal for young children but last Tuesday it was so cold I had to come straight out with my toddler and the changing room was just as cold. Such a lovely facility let down by bad management
Fantastic experience: Very small parking spaces, especially when people insist on driving 4x4 and are thoughtless about others. Really good venue since the renovation and great staff to go with it.
Negative experience: Apparently Aireborough has just been refurbished, it’s overrun by over 18 months and the receptionist seem to be adopting a similar strategy to answering the phones... called 5 times over the last two days and nobody ever answers
Negative experience: Poor facilities for visitors using physiomed. Reception staff show little regard for customer service paying more attention to their mobiles rather than desk enquiries.
Negative experience: Swimming pool still not reopened.
Fantastic experience: Good place to use gym squash courts sports hall and the swimming pools did work experience then i was at school
Fantastic experience: I love the courts, great to play badminton on
Negative experience: Rang last week to enquire about booking table tennis for an evening club event Oh yes not a problem they said... emailed club members gathered 10-12 people really keen to play .. Just rang Aireborough L C back to book it and Oh no they cant take bookings ring an hour before to see if it's free!!!!! what a waste of time and loss or revenue for them!
Positive experience: Great Leisure Centre, currently undergoing refurbishment for the Pool section. Gym, squash courts are open as usual. Gym staff is super friendly and very helpful. Can't wait for the pool to reopen in September 2018.
Fantastic experience: Very nice time with family ,just needs some work...what is done now..hope will be great after reopen....
Positive experience: Wide range of facilities.
Fantastic experience: I went there quite a few years ago, the pool was brilliant and I loved the diving boards as I spent most of the time diving off them, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and I enjoyed every minute of my visit. I also went there from school when I was a pupil at Springfield Boarding School situated next door to Leeds Bradford Airport on the corner of White House Lane and Scotland Lane in 1976 to 1981 and I've never looked back since. Thank you all and God Bless you.
Positive experience: Staff are great and very helpful. Gym is fab and well equipped. The pool is good and will be even better once the refurbishment is carried out.
Fantastic experience: The equipment in the gym is good and, more importantly, the staff really know their stuff and are very helpful. The changing rooms were chilly but heating has recently been installed. They are still on the small side, but heck - if it's a shower room you're looking for, why bother to leave home! I have been in many worse changing areas than this! There are several (like 15+) other Leeds gyms available through membership of this one and so - if you are prepared to travel - you can use Wattbikes, as used by the GB olympic team. Oh, and membership is very affordable too. I recommend fully. Don't understand the one star review, not my experience at all.
Positive experience: Two of my children have weekly swimming lessons great trainers and great customer service. Only issues are changing rooms in a sorry state but are due a refit and they are hard to contact by telephone
Negative experience: Run down with dilapidated equipment, only redeeming quality is the free weights.
Negative experience: decent pool, regularly hosts evening events & closes it cafe just as everyone arrives, typical Council run stupidity.
Negative experience: It wouldn't let me rate it half a star or no stars but overall this leisure centre is shocking, as you walk in you are greeted by the uncleanliness of the changing rooms, the floor looked like it needed a good clean as there was mold, hair and undescribable objects. When we arrived the schedule was not properly explained to us, so we ended up paying for the 1 hour slot before the 'fun' time slot, not knowing this we was asked to leave the pool thinking in ten minutes we would be able to get back in , but we was told to get changed, then pay, then get changed back into our wet clothes and then have our 'fun' session. I wouldn't attend this swimming pool unless you are looking to catch some kind of desease.
Positive experience: Very friendly staff would happily recommend
Positive experience: Inflatable sessions in the pool are great value both financially and for tiring out your kids with minimal effort.
Positive experience: Nice staff and pools, but not nice showers / changing facilities
Positive experience: Gym is small, lots of equipment but tiny space, showering facilities terrible as are changing rooms and lockers fine for casual gymmers but not top end stuff.
