Anytime Fitness Newark on Trent

Negative experience: Ignore my previous review, i get an email at 14:07 today saying they're regretfully closing permanently at 15:00 after taking my money, cleaning went from bad to good to bad again, rusty dumbells broken machines each time i went in, not that this review is relevant seen as they SHUT PERMANENTLY WITH LESS THAN AN HOURS NOTICE! a shame because some of the staff were really good such as adam, this review isnt a reflection on the staff.

Negative experience: Manager stays in his office all the time. The bathrooms are not very nice and are not cleaned. Seems to be a lot of people.using it who are not members. Since moving to newark I have had to use this gym but I am now leaving for another one.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful staff. No support of them, just after money. Clearly no people skills and they make it incredibly hard to leave, not surprised it’s under new management every other month. Definitely not going back and I’ll make sure I’ll not recommend it to anyone I know!

Fantastic experience: Joined just before new manager vinny took over, at first it was fairly mediocre always enough to get a workout but some things WERE subpar, NOW HOWEVER spot on machines get fixed quick cleaning is kept up with to a decent standard, the staff themselves are very friendly, approachable and attentive to issues brought up, highly recommend location is ideal for those using public transport.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. And they have a good background of machines and various tools. And I enjoy their special room for stretching exercises. I found new manager here "Vinný and Danny are very helpful and they have brought the gym a new life. I like it here.

Negative experience: This gym is a JOKE! No end of trouble I've had with them. From debt collectors called AYOM chasing me for months for money I never owed Anytime as all my direct debits went out on time to then cancelling my membership and confirmed over the phone - to take me back to receiving emails from them saying that my account is overdue! Also the fact that I spoke with 5 different people/employers over 3 months says a lot about it. Each new employer/manager tells you a different thing and this just feels like it never ends. I've heard a lot of people have trouble with contracts and stuff with Anytime Fitness and I wouldn't recommend - as good as the equipment is, the S**T the policy and the way the work. I would never go back to one of their gyms purely because of how much trouble it can cause you.

Negative experience: The only thing letting this gym down right now is the music… please stop playing radio Newark! Listening to celine dion whilst working out is ruining my stride. Please for the sake of my membership play a different station….. thanks you ‍♀️

Negative experience: They were friendly at start. But when I come to cancel my memebership, is a total different story. I came 3 times to cancel my membership and they say “yas, no worries. I received a letter from them that says i need to pay 300£. They are rude and useless. My advice: don’t go! Newark anytime fitness. All they try is to take money from you.

Fantastic experience: My favourite gym to date.

Negative experience: I must say I really enjoyed the gym and they were friendly to start with, however since I moved house the cancellation clearly states if you move away from a gym and your nearest isn’t in said distance you can cancel your membership. I agreed this with the previous manager and my thought was it had been cancelled as no money came out of my account for 3 months. However after 3 months I was charged and charged again. May I remind you this isn’t a cheap gym for a young apprentice to go to. I have asked for my money back several times but haven’t got anywhere with the answer simply being every time I will get my manager to call you back then THEY would hang up. I have left several emails to them and phone calls but I haven’t had any luck. For this reason I won’t be going back to the gym franchise until I have my money back! Months later after this still haven’t had my £175 back!!!

Fantastic experience: Nipped into Anytime Fitness In Newark recently to talk about a potential membership and getting into fitness and the gym. Anytime had a nice feel to it and can see they take pride in their work. Assistant josh was extremely helpful and took the time to explain the ins and outs and also a potential workout programme for me. Didnt get to talk to any other staff members but Josh’s vibe and enthusiasm towards me and my queries were brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Only just joined AF Newark the staff are brilliant Josh the assistant manager made me feel comfortable and showed me how to use all the equipment his knowledge and attitude towards the gym and the memebers is brilliant really looking forward to the progress I make as a member of Anytime The gym is also so clean and Aaron the club manager explained the contract to me really well when I joined

Fantastic experience: Joined anytime fitness yesterday josh and aaron singed me up and made me feel welcome the gym is extremely clean and I really enjoy the vibe and positivity around the gym floor

Fantastic experience: Good customer service. Came down for a free trial and wanted to join up. The manager Aaron and assistant josh got me signed up professionally and quickly and we’re really helpful

Negative experience: Don’t Join they expect you to provide proof why you want to leave as they won’t cancel your membership I’m seeking legal advice as this is totally unacceptable. Been six days now with no reply want me to provide a doctors note which costs £25 & without it they won’t cancel my membership even though I’m unable to for medical reasons. They don’t care they just want your money nothing else. Still no reply from the manager after saying he would get back to me utter disgrace

Negative experience: an absolute joke of a company, i have never had to write a google review but felt the need in this situation, i cancelled my membership and they still continue to take money from it, i have rang up 4/5 time now for a refund and also for my direct debit to be cancelled on their end, yet I'm still getting membership texts and i have asked numerous times for the cancelation to be sent it writing still nothing... I'm still waiting for this to be resolved update- in response to the below reply you said the termination email would be with me yesterday and yet this morning I'm still getting anytime fitness member texts- would appreciate the manager ringing me thank you

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym! Members of staff are very welcoming and helpful. Many times I’ve Been in the gym and the music has been like a spa.. quick chat with the staff and they’ll happily put on music of your choice. Sometimes the gym is very very hot! For some reason, but again as above if you ask for a icon on they will put it on. Overall great gym! Friendly place, by far the best gym. Yes it’s pricey but it’s worth it.

Positive experience: The good: - Usually quiet - Good range of equipment - Open 24/7 The not so good: - Air con seems to be on heat rather than cool - Staff laptop desk overlooks most of the gym; I find this really off putting (I have minor social anxiety so hate feeling like I’m being watched) - Several cobwebs, including a dead spider on the wall near the stair machine (It’s been there since September last year) - One of the most expensive gyms in the area The meh: - Their Instagram page used to be really interesting, with member challenges etc. Now it just seems to be (at least when I unfollowed in November last year) an ad site for their supplements - The change in gym team management (when Alex and Tim left) wasn’t communicated very well via social channels

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing best gym I've been to the Staff are extremely helpful and would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Joined this gym when they reopened this year. Tim and Alex are friendly, helpful and, best of all, approachable - they sorted me out with a fitness plan and went through everything with me so I know what I'm doing, and are always happy to help out if needed. The facilities are spacious and clean, with plenty of choice of machines and free weights, and the freedom to go at any time that suits you is a bonus

Negative experience: Closed down "temporarily" but never received any communication based on Facebook page other members have been advised its permanently closed... Pretty poor after being a member for years.

Fantastic experience: Recently reopened, new staff are fantastic. Gym is really clean and bathrooms have been updated! Keep up the good work guys!

Positive experience: Reasonably well equipped for a 24 hour gym, 2 squat racks and enough weight for one or two people to be lifting heavy at the same time. There are places where the floor is on a slight slant, not surprising for the 2nd floor.

Fantastic experience: I really like this gym. I've only been a member for a couple of months but it already feels much more relaxed and friendly than other gyms I've been to. The staff are really knowledgeable and helpful. The gym itself is always clean and tidy. The facilities are brilliant, including an interactive 'classroom' which I haven't personally used but it offers a large range of sessions. Of course the main benefit to this gym is that it is always available for use so that I can fit my workouts around my other plans and commitments. I would recommend Anytime Fitness.
