Negative experience: I am disappointed to confirm that Gymetc is just the same as any other money-hungry fitness establishment. I had hoped that given the luxurious look and premium price you pay that the customer service would have exceeded that of your average Puregym and JD gyms, but unfortunately they are just as bad.. if not worse. I should have listened to the other negative reviews and implore you to do the same before signing your hard-earned money away for the undefined foreseeable. I signed up for a 12 month period in Jan 2024 for £29.99 a month, due to personal circumstances I stopped attending in April, and continued to honour my financial obligation without a fuss. On 2nd Jan 2025 an increased (without notice) payment of £33.99 was taken and on the same day (and in line with the terms and conditions) I provided a months written notice to cancel, and cancelled my direct debit (as the t&cs advised to do). I received the response in the picture and have been in a dispute with the establishment since, over £29.99. Clearly the gym want to make it as difficult as possible for you to cancel (unfortunate typical gym behaviour) hence their demand that I attend in person to restart a direct debit, which will no doubt be impossible to cancel again as their “full calendar month” requirement is vaguely drafted and conveniently interpreted to fit whatever scenario financially benefits them the most, and I don’t fancy committing myself to a further months payment. It looks like I will have to make good the payment as the gym is clearly not doing so well (they have threatened a debt collection agency over the months fee!) and I simply don’t have the time to argue with cowboys; but I would highly recommend you consider attending a gym with proper policies and run by management with business skills and customer service experience as the overall experience has been most unpleasant.
Fantastic experience: Good gym and very competitive price,
Negative experience: Would not recommend at all as the gyms always overcrowded, none of the weights match, the toilets absolutely reek and on top of that half of the gym is near enough always closed off. Once you join your stuck for the year and get no warning of price increases.
Negative experience: Too many members for the size of the gym, always overcrowded. That’s when the gym is open, several times I’ve arrived at the gym for ‘floor being done’ meaning half the gym is closed off. Never a heads up email or even a instagram post letting members know what’s going on.
Fantastic experience: Visited this gym twice and I can honestly say I’m impressed. The staff on both occasions have been helpful and friendly. I honestly can’t say this gym doesn’t have whatever you need. I recognise it will be busy sometimes, weekends look quite busy. If you’re put off by children or families then this may impact your experience as they use the swimming facilities. Looking forward to using this regularly as my local gym.

Negative experience: I’ll start with the positives- +Staff are friendly + The outside Jacuzzi is great +pretty good price Now the negatives. - there’s too many members so much so you can’t get on anything half the time or have to queue to use things. -the gym is a mess, weights all over the place, no one puts anything back, dumbbells all over the floor. -kids running around in the male changing rooms with people completely naked in there. Overall, if you are after a gym for leisure and cardio, it’s not a bad place. Other than that stay well away. Unfortunately I’m in a contract with them and I feel like I’ve been scammed.

Negative experience: Great gym but WILL NOT PUT THE AIR CON ON! Its absolutely ridiculous and let's the place down massively. Everything else is great, upstairs in the cardio room is most of the time unbearable.
Positive experience: Facilities are fine only real issues are far too many members and a problematic number of old men hawking on people giving them unsolicited and unwanted “advice” which definitely makes some less confident people very uncomfortable.
Negative experience: Not happy. Me and my partner have been coming to this gym for a few years and would like to share a couple of observations. 1. The air-con is hardly ever on. It has to be a 30 degree heatwave before they switch it on. Even during summer when it's not too hot outside, inside the gym can get unbearable, especially upstairs. Not a nice environment to be in when it's sweaty and sticky. 2. Why do your staff start turning everything off and basically pushing people out an hour before you close? If you're open until 10pm, then don't turn off the WiFi and switch off the TV's and music until 10pm. You are made to feel like you have to leave before closing time. Turning the WiFi off is just a clear message to get out as there's no signal otherwise to listen to music etc. Will be seriously reconsidering extending membership for another year as customer service is generally pretty poor.
Fantastic experience: Been coming here for 6 months. I really enjoy the place. Nice friendly staff also. The changing rooms could be cleaner. But overall happy l, value for money in my opinion.

Negative experience: Usually a good a gym. BUT WILL NOT PUT THR AIRCON ON UNLESS “it’s 24 degrees”. It’s currently sweaty and muggy all over the gym. Machines getting sweaty and slippy. Sort it out please.

Fantastic experience: Great gym loads equipment and a lovely small warm pool.
Positive experience: This is a good gym they do so many things right. Decent enough choice and layout. Lack of spin bikes in the main area without paying to go on the spin bikes is something that I miss from previous gyms and the lack of earlier opening hours and a later Friday is something that I miss. The classes don’t really suit me and the lack of virtual classes for the spin bikes isn’t helpful.
Positive experience: Good membership price especially if purchased a year in advance. Booking for classes is a poor system as you need to attend in person, sometimes hours in advance to book a popular class. Equipment generally good and reasonably well maintained. Wet area is popular.
Positive experience: good gym, but the staff girl at reception with dark brown hair is unbelievably rude.

Negative experience: DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON SHOW IN YOUR CAR! Valuables or not it doesn’t matter thief’s are operating in this area and have been for the past year. The gym have cameras but won’t show you the footage. The staff don’t care and tell you it’s common sense that cars get broken into even for baseballs caps. Another friend had his window smashed to steel a gym bag with nothing more than a wet towel in it. I requested for a sign to be put up to inform people not to leave anything on show in cars and was laughed at by staff who said “people don’t always read signs” if sign doesn’t appear on the front doors within the next week I’ll be leaving this gym for good along with 8 others. Good facilities but some of the staff let it down. Girlfriend turned away from classes for being 3 minutes early (not early enough supposedly)
Negative experience: Good facilities, staff really don't seem to care though. I had an issue with the app on my first visit, guy on the desk reluctantly let me in. I said it was my first visit and he didn't offer to show me where anything was or anything. Took me 3 visits to work out where the changing rooms and everything was! Never get a hello from any of the staff, most just stare at the floor and ignore you. I'm a bit gutted i signed up for an annual plan, it is always very busy and hard to get on the equipment i'd like to. Hoping it quietens down a bit over summer. Good facilities but the staff let it down unfortunately.

Positive experience: Good equipment but staff have no interest once they have taken your money. Me and my mum joined,(ages 50 and mid 70s), we weren't even asked if we would like to be shown how to use the machines, and some of the machines don't have instructions on them either. When I have joined other gyms, I have been asked what I want to achieve, given advice, and shown which machines to use and how to use them. We joined on a 2 month trial and won't be extending our membership.

Negative experience: Too over crowded (2 squat racks for about 400 members yet to see it free to use). Opening times restrictive for amount of members and class times are daft, no early morning classes (most days the earliest class is 9am which is typically working hours) and 6:30 opening makes it hard to fit a workout in before day starts
Negative experience: Over subscribed so always far too busy/not enough equipment for the amount of members. Pay £34 a month for a gym that doesn’t even allow online booking of classes so, you could turn up and not be able to attend. Class time changes aren’t always updated. Staff are so checked out, not really helpful. App to enter only works 50% of the time, but nobody is ever keen to help.
Positive experience: Feels a little bit oversubscribed, incredibly busy weightlifting area even after the ‘after work rush’
Negative experience: Wouldn't even give a 1* but had to score something. Facilities are perfect management on the other hand are some what to be desired. Canceled my membership with management Caroline and set up a new membership to be refused entry today due to owing funds. Guy on the counter was confused so text the manager, the manager then rang and was extremely rude and said she hasn't got time to speak to me as she has to collect her daughter from school, your not getting in was her words. I then shown my direct debit payments along with proof I have spoken to her in the past but still she called me a liar. I actually cancelled my DD with her when she interviewed me to be a deputy manger for the gym I declined to take the role due to being offered a job else where, The manager then lied and said this wasn't true even though I have emails and texts to back this. Overall great gym but very bad management.
Negative experience: Rude staff. Had nothing but issues since I have joined. When I first joined up they had double subscribed me so we're taking 2 payments for 3 months. Staff have no respect towards customers. The village gyms I personally find much better, staff have respect and it is also cleaner - no ear plugs floating in the jacuzzi
Negative experience: Great place, you have to bring your own locks, which ain't too bad staff are okay, get some that just don't want to be there. I just wanted to do a day's pass ( which don't exist at this gym) I ended up signing up not realizing its a 12 month contract, so I get 6 months in and they put the prices up, So i wasn't happy so I tried to cancel my gym membership, now i can't leave even with a fee or something, which I dont mind paying but I'm stuck here paying a new monthly fee until the end of my contract.

Negative experience: Very frustrated. You cannot ring the gym instead it directs you to send an email with no email address. You send a contact form query and it is not answered. My problem is this:- There have been power outages over the last week or so resulting in either partial or full closure of the gym facilities. No-one updates the Facebook page to say exactly what is available when this happens. The first anyone knows of a problem is on arrival which is a pain if the journey consists of 2 buses. If this could be sorted out I'd be a happy customer

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff,nothing is too much trouble.Great place to be ,the atmosphere is lovely and facilities are the best I have seen .New changing rooms are well laid out and clean.I take my sister here who has learning difficulties as well as poor sight and the staff are fantastic and make a special effort to chat to her,meet her needs and give her confidence .
Negative experience: When classes are cancelled or not on say because it’s a bank holidays at least give a notification of some type to your lovely customers. Also the place needs to monitor air flow/air conditioning and possibly the temperature of the place as this might contributed to a poor old gym goer dropping dead. The place has thick dust there which is older than me, especially the air vents and in hard to reach places, it’s got to be antique by now. Oh one other thing is the lack of toilet paper which can be annoying!

Negative experience: I have just been refused entry on my mothers membership guest pass. My 84 year old mother has been a member for many years. I could not produce physical photo ID. I offered a credit card and email photo ID. Which was refused. The manager had explained that a strict policy is in place on account of those who cause damage whilst on site. I fail to see why legal tender credit card offered would not suffice. Which responsible person takes a passport or any legal document to a gym. This is not even required whilst booking into a hotel. I feel a compromise could have been met here but none offered. This attitude does not fair well whilst trying to attract new members I have now joined Active.

Negative experience: First time coming back after lockdown to be treated poorly by rude staff. Was hoping to sign my son up so we could spend some time together only to be wrongly instructed by the staff on his membership the week before and had the embarrassment of being refused entry at the turnstile today. I was willing to upgrade his membership there and then and pay the extra cost but the girl left in charge didn’t seem to want to deal with the situation and would rather wait till the manager was back in tomorrow. Easy option for those not willing to take the lead when left in charge in my eyes. I asked if I could cancel my membership due to how I had been treated and she couldn’t get the paperwork quick enough. Very poor customer service letting a decent gym down. I’d rather pay the extra for the village hotel in future.

Negative experience: The equipment is always faulty or broken and nothing is done about it forcing you to use other equipment which you're not familiar with. The only decent aspects were the steam room and sauna but even they break down. Not worth it. They do nothing about complaints regarding peekers in the mens. It's clearly a haven for abominations with uncontrollable urges.

Negative experience: I cancelled my direct debit after being a member for couple of years, as I was aware I only signed 12 months contract with no contract given to me, now harland group have billed me for 70 pounds for cancellation. I would advise anyone joining this gym to be careful it is a rip off with the small print. I would advise people to try other gyms first where you can pay each month because it seems you join gym etc for life and its not that brilliant to be honest all the gear but no idea.

Positive experience: Great. Wanted to see before committing to a contract. Dead easy, went in, no appointment necessary, paid for day use non-member £10, got a tour. Good facilities, steam room, sauna, huge jacuzzi, warm swimming pool (hurrah). Sadly I went after school ends so was full of kids having swimming lessons. Will check the schedule and try to avoid them. Does need a bit of a facelift and a really good spring clean. Despite that I will be joining.
