Chester-le-Street Leisure Centre

Positive experience: Staff friendly and hard working , quite like the pool and small pool but can’t comment on other facilities, but a warning , the pool is overtaken by Aqua Tues/Wed/ Thurs which makes for an uncomfortable stand off between swimmers and those determined to secure a spot, I much prefer the Durham system where Aqua have a coloured band and wait until session is over . Seems there is a hierarchy of pool users so woe betide you upset the Aqua lot !,,

Negative experience: £27 per month plus 70p parking every time you visit for parking. Condemned sauna which they aren’t replacing, steam room barely works. Massively needs updating. Better off going to JD which is cheaper and way better facilities

Fantastic experience: The swimming pools are very nice, with good viewing balconies. Because many pools aren't deep enough for diving, I like to go to Chester-le-Street, because you can dive. The changing rooms are always clean.

Fantastic experience: Modern clean changing rooms. Warm showers. The pool is a good temperature and clean. Midweek lane swimming with 2 lanes one slow lane one fast. I swim around 1pm for an hour midweek days and it's always quiet which is great.

Fantastic experience: Got my 12 year old enrolled in swimming classes. Staff are helpful and friendly. Despite being at least 5 years older than her classmates, she loved it! Pool and changing rooms nice and clean too.

Negative experience: If I could give zero I would. I'd tried three times to purchase a subscription online, then attempted to call and waited over an hour for the phone to be answered. The women who answered was unhelpful her name was Rosie, I believe. I then went to the site to sort out a subscription on Monday 31st July at 6.30pm and the women on reception was not only unhelpful but also unfriendly. She then had the audacity to say "just go to that website" in a whiny voice. So unprofessional. It's worth paying to go to a professional outfit, as this is most certainly not!

Fantastic experience: Love chester le street community centre we usually go to the swimming baths there but visited softplay last time we were there and all had fun.

Fantastic experience: I love going to the pool with my granddaughters and grandson,they always have floats and things that the kids love to play with. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Might as well be a youth club in the gym with the amount of kids running about screeching

Positive experience: Not the biggest but definitely reasonable pool. The kids pool was fairly sized and nit too busy. The family changing booths were closed but hopefully that's a temporary setback. Overall, good experience.

Negative experience: They never pick up the phone and I can't book a squash court online so I have to ring in. Either get staff that can pick up a phone or have your site include squash court bookings

Fantastic experience: Clean, safe and great staff Meta fit is the class to try very hard and only 30 minutes. Pricing is good £26 for gym, swimming and fitness classes. Offer on at the moment lets you end your contract at anytime so you aren't locked into a year.

Fantastic experience: Granddaughter's swimming lesson, coach Rebecca great with children staff friendly and helpful, place clean, seating area in small pool provided with spray and tissues to clean chairs before you leave. Essential children have opportunity to learn to swim.

Negative experience: Very cold kids were shivering .got told we could use big pool till 5 and after 20 minutes they started to close the pool off and put lanes in so got out at half ,4 as there was nowhere for kids to play .will not be returning again I would rather travel elsewhere ... So this place is a big no no for us

Positive experience: I swam here a few nights ago and thought the pool was okay. I take training seriously and the lanes during lesson time where quite around the times off 16:00 - 17:00.. Upon entering as it was my first time I thought I was walking into a hospital lounge. The reception staff where very friendly and helpful. The changing village was... well a little confusing and to spacious. Life guards where cleaning and friendly and helpful and the pool side and changing village was very clean. A few people in the pool wearing perfume. But overall I enjoyed my time and will be coming back when my main pool is closed

Negative experience: Have not been in his leisure centre for 3 years. Started to go back about 3 weeks ago . Sauna is old needs a new one. The dry room has been closed for 3 years or more. One of the staff she does talk to you at all. Just grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Positive experience: Good gym, hadn't been to the pool for a while , they had renovated the changing rooms since my last visit which are much better and warmer, better showers and lockers .

Positive experience: Friendly and helpful staff. Old pool but that doesn’t change your experience. Changing area has always been clean when I have visited (at least once per week).

Positive experience: This was a swimming competition, so I had to be there. Extremely hot, very poor sitting area. Only one toilet facility but clean. Very poor access everywhere. Parking is good and not that expensive so do not park on the grass etc as you will get fined!

Positive experience: Moody overweight staff, very 'common' . Been twice same experience both times. The local shop for local people. Being new, I was confused and made to stand aside whilst other members walked straight in. Twice. No private changing facilities for facilities for men, no offer of a show around, no where to shave, staff sitting around gossiping. Ive paid to use the facility they even want money for car parking, but no smile or warmth is offered. Huge difference between here and a private health club. Facilities just as good the only thing spoiling it is a bunch of 'council' workers that are here for the pension and give a toss about the 'punters' coz thats all we are.

Fantastic experience: It's great they changed the staff there. A few years ago the staff there was so rude!! I hated going there besides the place was old and always dirty. Now it has changed for the better. The staff is nice and helpful and they have improved some parts. Still needs improving I think but I suppose they don't have the funding to do it all. I was really happy to know that there us no vending machine for junk food which is great. Instead they have 2 baskets full of Apple's and clementines. Wow, that was such a really good change for the better. Better for our kids and the environment.
