Fantastic experience: I’ve attended two of Veatriki’s Stretch classes so far, and she’s been absolutely fantastic! She’s warm, approachable, and takes the time to tailor the class to our needs, making it feel thoughtful and personalized. Her clear explanations and demonstrations make the moves easy to follow — especially helpful for me as a dyspraxic person. Negative experience: I trained here for 3 months and now I'm moving. I'm trying to cancel my membership, but it's impossible... My contract says "cancel at any time", but when I try there's no even a bottom to do it... It's a scam because they try to make you stay the more they can so they can charge you more. Every day I try to cancel and nothing, it's just a loop in the app and in the web saying they give you instructions to cancel but they don't!!!!

As a non-contractual gym company, we give our members the flexibility to cancel their membership on a month by month basis. If you have a membership which you pay monthly via direct debit, you can cancel your membership online on our website, although this must be done at least 4 working days before your next payment is due. Alternatively, you can cancel your direct debit with your bank directly. If you have a fixed term membership, you will need to get in touch with our Member Services team so that they can action the cancellation on your behalf. They can be contacted at [email protected]. Positive experience: The wifi connection is really bad so if you’re following a video it takes a long time to go through, it would be better if there were more sanitary stations upstairs for people to use but overall a nice gym with all the equipment you need.

We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols, including the introduction of cleaning stations, to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Positive experience: Overall, my view of this gym is positive. Much more spacious and more equipment than its Brighton Central counterpart. It does however get busy and sometimes I even wish they’d put the price up or end student deals to help manage the numbers. The general vibe is good and both the trainers and members seem nice enough. Sometimes there are issues (eg toilets not working) but they generally seem to be resolved in a timely manner.

Positive experience: Busy at all times. Not enough plates. Not enough machines/space. There are, however, three dedicated benches and multiple racks. Having said that, I am rarely able to do the exercise I want, even with free weights as there is never any space, so always waiting or amending my workout plan as necessary

Negative experience: Not one to write bad reviews but the people of Brighton deserve better! Rusty machines, blindingly lit throughout, old equipment (dumbbells especially worn), music is playing at an all time low - really weirdly laid out gym, too. Do better, Mr PureGym.

Fantastic experience: Great 7:30am class by Kai. I'm focusing on functional strength at the moment. The pump class really delivered with regards to what my needs are. Getting so much done within 30min under expert guidance is truly a brilliant start to the day. The well selected music and timed tracks help make the workout flow well.

Fantastic experience: I BLOODY LOVE PUREGYM LONDON ROAD!!!! Honestly it's the friendliest and most welcoming and fun and caring gym where ANYBODY is welcome (it's true!). I started with the free classes by the DELIGHTFUL instructors, including checking out the various Induction / Learn to Lift smaller group sessions to learn my way around a bit - though everyone who's in London Rd PureGym seems super happy to help if you have queries on ANYTHING, so never feel shy to just start talking to people here! :) Since starting my journey in this way about a year or so back, I'm now happily working with THE BEST COACH EVER (⭐OWEN TREWIN⭐) and feel happy as Larry trying out all manner of things I never even knew about! And I still attend classes BECAUSE I LOVE THEM, especially Pump with the *Legendary* Kai (this class is probably the main class that sparked my interest in strength training / dabbling with weights in the first place, which has changed my life, no joke!), the cool and delicious Stretch and Yoga classes (with Owen and Sam), and the odd 15min Abs blast with Nuria/Tom whenever I can squeeze them in! I only wish I had a magic stop clock (Bernhard's watch) so that I could still do all the classes the absolute PRO Lorelai runs (again, PUMP in particular!) - and badass Brad's boomin' bike sweat-fests! JOIN NOW! There's something for everyone and it all starts with the very first step ❤️ LOVE!

Fantastic experience: I have attended a LBT class with Lorelei. This wasn’t my first class with Lorelei and I have always enjoyed the sessions. She has always been very communicative and explained next steps clearly, showed the exercises and was very motivating. Always looking forward to coming to her next class. Thanks girl!

Positive experience: Nice affordable gym on London Road with lots of equipment and classes included. Can get busy in evenings. Coaches Kai and Owen are great - always love attending their classes (and others!). Good friendly crowd and fun.

Positive experience: For the money it is decent value. It's a friendly gym with friendly staff. If you haven't used gym equipment you should not have concerns. Young teenagers to the odd 80+ go here. Predominantly college when I go but it's a wide age and ability range. I noticed a comment raised against one of the PTs earlier. It suggests it was made 1 month ago which is probably 8 months after he left the gym. I don't think this conveys the right impression of the gym or that PT who I trained with for about 2 years. He is committed, conscientious and went out of his way to research things about some niggling injuries I suffered. I cant comment on the accusation except to suggest it should have been raised at the time if it happened as described. As it stands the remark is defamatory. The PT wants you to be motivated to progress or what is the point. They get pleasure from watching you improve as much as you do. Anyway back to the gym. It has loads of classes which I don't do. It's clean enough and you can get a shower. You can't have a swim, a massage or a burger but they don't suggest you can.

Negative experience: Bro, half the gym has been out of order for 2 weeks, smells damp, generally unclean. Pretty dire here sometimes. But you can lift things.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Positive experience: This is the only review you will ever need to read. Reading some of the other reviews people just make it sound worse than it is. Long story short… You can make gains fine. Only machine cons i notice is the leg extension doesn’t let you get full range of motion. Otherwise stop complaining and get on with it. Can get busy peak times with a few young students groups round machines. If you little To no patience then you will probably get fustrated especially when uni and college season at peak time. However non peak times you will be competely fine. It’s good for the price you pay. The leg machines are packed together tightly which can get a bit annoying when you are doing leg extensions then you kick someone by accident. Also upstairs cable machine I accidentally have hit at least 10 people doing sing arm rear delt flies as it is close to the main walkway Great staff classes are amazing especially spin. Music can be a bit meh being some headphones.

Negative experience: Personal Trainer Laith is an awful human being, calling my friend obese, he made misogynistc comments and clearly has problems of his own that takes out on women. Do not recommend and utterly appalled. Boycott Laith

Positive experience: Please fix your A/C its impossible to focus on working out when I’m wiping sweat off of me every 5 seconds. Not very hygienic either, its only April but feels like 25 degrees in there. Fewer treadmills more machines, especially legs would be welcome too.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed the Sweat 30 class with Jonathan! It was well-structured, and he paid great attention to everyone’s posture, ensuring a safe and effective workout. My only suggestion would be to extend it to 45 minutes to make the most of the session. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: First time in here, just joined SEVERELY REGRETTING THIS AFTER USING THE WEIGHT BENCHES. Completely unsuitable and extremely limited in adjustability. I'm not a tiny 5 foot woman im an overweight 6 ft man and this bench is completely unsuitable if not dangerous for me to do the full range of exercises for a full work out. Every other PureGym ive been to has benches where both the seat and the back are separately adjustable and that aren't so low im permanently in a squat. What brain-dead moron designed this gym?? I cant express how infuriating this is and how stupid a move this is for PureGym!!!

Fantastic experience: I haven't been to a gym for a number of years and have just signed up and completed my first session. For the membership fee you get everything your need and with the benefit of it all being available to you 24/7. I was apprehensive about going as I didn't think i would fit in, but was very pleasantly surprised how friendly everyone was and i was free to get on with my workout. Totally recommend PureGym to anyone that is looking for a reasonably priced gym.

Negative experience: I gave 2 stars because 1- The staff are friendly 2- The classes are great! I didn’t give any more stars because: The gym is far too busy no matter what time you go, there’s no “peak” or off “Peak times”, paying £27 per month to maybe get a good workout in isn’t ideal but the other gyms on London Road are the same unless you are willing to pay £50+ for a private gym. The gym equipment is oddly placed and not designed in a way that the space is utilised. It’s a gym for uni students only really. You get groups of kids hoarding around the benches for an hour at a time and others who are just plain rude. The ceiling is also mouldy and leaks when it rains and there’s NO fresh air at all. There’s no free scale to weigh yourself either. Overall if I had to the option to move gym I would.

Fantastic experience: The sweat class with Tom is great. It just 30mins but it definitely challenges you and exercises change every week which keeps it fresh. I have seen an increase in fitness and endurance since I started. Definitely worth it!!

Fantastic experience: Bradley’s spin class at London Road Brighton is so, so good. It’s more like going to a dedicated spin studio than a general gym. He’s really motivating and fun.

Negative experience: Says it has a wheelchair accessible entrance which is technically true, you can get into the downstairs foyer in a wheelchair. However, the lift to the actual gym is upstairs and the lift has been broken for a long time, weeks if not months. So please don't join if you are unable to use stairs.

Positive experience: It isn’t the worst however not the best… Travel around for work also moving from gym to gym. It honestly wasn’t the worst PureGym I have been to, far better than Brighton central however I do feel like they could utilise better use of space and not have the equipment so miss-matched; for example putting machines near each other based on body parts or even on the same floor. I never got to see the changing facilities or the studio space.

Negative experience: Standard commercial gym. If you have any remote interest in strength training then I'd avoid. Floor is spongy, kit is poor quality and every barbell feels like it's covered in butter. If you're a bodybuikder or just want to be in a gym it's great. If you're interested in proper strength training I'd go elsewhere.

Positive experience: Super friendly staff and lots of equipment available. Classes are super varied and the instructors are mostly motivating and helpful with form! But Some equipment is over used and so the hand grip rubber material is wearing away, which makes it painful to us. Plus the tissue dispense wasn’t working recently

Positive experience: This is actually my home gym but could do with some upgrades here and there. The roof in the studio is usually leaky if it rains heavily. Good selection of equipment and classes but it is usually quite busy.

Fantastic experience: Great gym for £21.99pcm. Got most equipment you’ll ever need, very well laid out, and easy to get in and out of using the app or code. Lockers are all very secure and the changing rooms are usually quite clean. Most gym goers here are generally very friendly or just go about their own business. When the staff are present, they are very accommodating.

Negative experience: Seriously bad. Yes it is great having the convenience of gym being open 24/7 but that is really all I can say for what makes this gym good. Hygiene is terrible with the men’s changing room almost always stinking of urine, the toilets are disgusting! And look like they haven’t been cleaned in about 3 months what is more is that wherever you go in the building there is always, to some degree, mold caving in from the walls around you. This might possibly have something to do with the fact that the building has zero ventilation making the air you breathe in damp, thick and musty. The final nail in the coffin though for me, before I canceled my subscription, was the fact that the whole place is just soo hot. Again, because the place is not at all ventilated it gets really hot. Combined with the musty air, it is just too much.

Positive experience: I like how the gym is divided into multiple, almost independent sections, like cardio area, the free weights area and the cable areas. I couldn’t find the members WiFi though, maybe that’s just me.

Negative experience: I’m a PureGym member in London but I frequent this one in Brighton a few times a month when I’m visiting and I must say the smell of damp, mould and BO combined takes me out every time I visit - it’s so overpowering and the fact there’s no windows either makes it unbearable at times. Other they have a good range of equipment and it’s a great atmosphere in there.

Negative experience: Never seen a place so mouldy before, always smells like sweat and damp, no ventilation, cramped, best time to go is after 9pm. Only come here because PureGym central is no longer 24 hour.

Negative experience: there is an insane amount of mould growing in the stetching rooms which has obviously not been taken care of for a while, i brought this up 3 months ago and no action has been taken . There is also a leaky pipe which is constantly leaking right above the sound system in the stretch/group workout room. Its terrible. mould in a place where people are constantly breathing heavily is unacceptable. Also it is no wonder there is mould as the ventilation is awful. It is always incredibly humid, I'm used to going into a gym and it being air conditioned. In other puregyms it's been fine but this one is just so humid and you can feel the sweat and breath accumilated from other people. EDIT. The ventilation and mould issues are still there 3 months later. As you'll see other people have pointed this out and the same reply is sent by staff about how we the customers should tell the staff in person that they have a mould and ventilation issue when the staff themselves are there and can SEE the mould, the leaks, the ventilation issues. Why on earth is this even a response? we are PAYING for a clean and hygienic place to work out, it should not be up to us to remind you to sort out the damp and cleanliness of the gym. You're hearing the issue online why should it be the customers initiative to bring this up to staff themselves when they're obviously already aware of it and choosing not to do anything about it. They just choose to send you a copy pasted reply to your review so they can put off addressing the issue. Disgraceful. Also I left a review 3 or 4 months ago and there is still ABSOLUTELY NOTHING being done about the mould or the leaks, they've just put tape around it and the stretching room is still available for everyone to breathe in the disgusting damp, which is literally a HEALTH risk, I have no idea why this place hasn't been shut down, it's disgusting. There is something deeply wrong with the management at this location, I've been to other Puregym locations and never encountered such awful damp, mould, hygiene and ventilation issues. It needs to be professionally cleaned IMMEDIATELY. Edit: still no action taken, if you are thinking of going to this gym don't. the mould is growing in new areas, it is infesting absolutely everywhere in this gym, it is a severe health risk. not only that, lockers don't get cleaned out, there are two specific lockers i am aware of that have not been emptied for at least a month. toothpaste, towels, mould is growing in them. it's just awful, i've no idea why management is not taking this seriously.

Positive experience: Equipment wise, there are no problems I took of 1 star because even at non-peak hours, it's busy. And I took off another star because having used this gym daily for 1 week, the extremely strong smell of dried urine in the men's toilets hasn't been addressed. That whole part of the men's changing room needs a deep clean (walls, floor, surfaces) to get that smell out) Overall quite a bit below standard as I would expect from a PureGym

Positive experience: Good gym, not alot of machines to be honest, but for the amount of people that are at the gym, it's more than enough, 1st floor is running machines, cycle machines, rowing, as well as a stretching area (rather small) which has some smaller weights on it, as well as an assortment of machines for legs and arms. 2nd floor houses toilets, changing rooms (male and female) as well as weights for bench pressing and other activities. All around a nice local gym, it is 24 hours unlike Brighton Central, and is around other shops like CO-OP and Poundland. The reason for 4 stars not 5, is because of the size, I went on a non-busy day and it was still quite full, can't imagine what the weekends would be like.

Negative experience: Extremely poorly ventilated and tiny. It's like they don't even use the AC. The place always reeks of sweat and feels musty. Will be switching gyms. Avoid this place.

Negative experience: I don't know what happened since I was there last year. This place is screaming for serious refurbishment regarding air ventilation system. Persistent smell of dump, molded aircon units and stench odour spread all around the gym. The shower is out of service. They need to install immediately extremely high efficient dehumidifier equipment.

Negative experience: No ventilation, A/Cs are hardly working. you can smell damp. The upstairs stretching room is full of mold. Although this was reported in the previous reviews, the management hasn't done anything. Deserves 0 star!

Negative experience: I have never in all the twenty five years I’ve gone to gyms been to a dirtier gym than this. The dirt is months old. The place is disgusting. Whoever is the manager should get some training on hygiene. The showers has mould and snot up the walls. Dusty lockers with chewing gum. Dust everywhere. The calf machine was so dirty it didn’t move freely as it was bunged with rust and all sorts of dirt. I’m sooooooo disappointed. I rarely complain but I was shocked. You need to get professional cleaners to disinfect the entire place. I’m mortified. Wish I had taken photos. The worst PureGym I’ve had the misfortune of visiting.

Positive experience: The staff are helpful most of the machines are well looked after but the gym can be very busy at some times

Negative experience: A few things. Cons- 1. There’s no real “quiet” hours. At peak times you’re lucky to get a bench and unless you’re there at midnight there’s always a decent amount of people. 2. Equipment is limited and most of it isn’t great quality- machines are uncomfortable and not particularly ergonomic 3. Men’s changing room consistently smells like untreated sewage. Genuinely disgusting. 4. £3 for a protein bar in the vending machines. That is pretty much robbery. Pros- 1. Convenient location, open 24 hours is nice too. 2. Decent pricing especially for students. Overall it has real potential but needs plenty of investment and maybe a visit from the plumber to sort out whatever that unholy stench coming from the men’s changing is.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service if you ever have a problem signing up. They’ve taken two payments off. I now have to wait up to 10 days for my money, as well as signing up again just to go the the gym. Terrible service when I was expecting the no joining fee from the beginning!

Positive experience: The gym has a lot of good equipment and a nicely designed space overall. On the downside, I would recommend better ventilation throughout the whole gym, less noisy bike group classes and the use of less harsh chemical cleaners in the locker rooms. Thank you!

Negative experience: These gyms are horrendous. Can never get on any machines as over crowded. £9 for a day pass is too high for what it's worth. And the machines are just scattered randomly.

Negative experience: Up until today I had always enjoyed this gym, I had gone here for several years. Using an Orbital sander in the daytime around any part of a populated gym is unacceptable. A Tradesman sanded down a patch of wall and it kicked up a ton of fine dust covering me and three or so other members (batted old orbital with the dust compartment completely full, i could tell by how it shot old dust into the air). Doing so without warning clients and asking them to distance is ignorant and far beyond inconsiderate. The fine particles released from sanding are hazardous to your health (I literally do this for a living, so wear a 3M mask..). It is completly unacceptable and ironic for this to be tolerated in a gym where people are, of course, deep breathing. When this has happend today in the gym I spoke with the tradesman, he was rude telling me 'if i had a problem' speak with managment. The mangement were clueless to the obvious health risks posed to their clients saying these things needed to be done at sompoint as its a 24hr gym. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
