Positive experience: Nice swimming pool but a bit too cold!

Julie Utting 6 months ago

Positive experience: Visited on a bowls tournament. You don't have to pay for parking. Give reception your car reg and you get 3 hours free parking. Make sure they get it correct as you'll have a ticket if not. Luckily the ticket was retracted as it was due to human error.

Positive experience: Turned up on a rainy day and just got in, busy. It's not a massive pool but for location and cost it's a winner.

Johnson Man 9 months ago

Negative experience: Went to the pool and was immediately met with a waft of unpleasantly cold air. The pool was disheartening and made me loose my will to swim. I got stuck in the slide as it is not very steep, and I had to walk down it which was very embarrassing. The floor was disgusting and had remnants of unknown substances. Overall this was an experience best described as cold and disappointing.

Positive experience: Used to come here as a kid so to say it’s showing it’s age is a shame, not very clean very basic now, I wouldn’t recommend all of the old oasis character has gone it’s just very bluuurrr now lol

Positive experience: Went to tourist information point. Not much local info. Bus times available. Need some local walks info

Negative experience: Visited today with my 4 and 1 year old whilst on holiday. This is the coldest indoor swimming pool I have ever visited and our visit today was really unpleasant as a result. My 1 year olds hands and arms turned purple, when you get out the air temperature is also too cold and the showers were luke warm at best. The changing cubicles were very run down and tired too and part of the wall was broken in the one we went into.

Positive experience: Good size pool with a slide. Staff are all friendly. Only downside is the temperature, the flooring is really cold ,the water is cool and so is the air temperature. We lasted about an hour before we got to cold and had to go. When taking younger children, maybe wear a swim top to keep a bit warmer.

Fantastic experience: Rang up to book spaces but was informed we do not need to book. Turned up and the gentleman on the desk was very helpful. Everywhere was clean and tidy. We spent a couple of hours here with the kids going down the slide time and time again, and throwing a beach ball around. Only complaint is that the toilet area is very cold once you've been in the pool.

Fantastic experience: Very impressed. Yesterday, the Cafe was the meeting place for 3 of us. Great view over the Prom directly out to sea. Busy with people from Classes held in the centre that morning however didn't have to queue. Great Hot Chocolate. Was saddened to say on all the years that I have lived in the area, I hadn't been in the Cafe before. I will be returning

Positive experience: We visited on a rainy Saturday for the family fun session, which runs 4-6pm (slightly odd timing for a weekend in half-term but nevermind). The three "stars" are because the kids had a great time playing with the floats and pool noodles and really enjoyed the water slide. There were always at least two lifeguards on duty at all times. However the facilities are overall really quite tired and dated. The lockers only take 20p pieces and you don't get your money back. Several of them wouldn't lock and just ate our money, and when my partner went to ask the receptionist for more change (giving her a £1 coin) she tried to give him just two 20ps back and was quite grumpy when he asked for more! We needed three lockers as they are quite small, and it being miserable outside we had four coats plus swimming stuff to stow away. The key wristbands had locker numbers written on in marker pen and it wasn't particularly easy to read as parts had rubbed off. Likewise some of the locker numbers were missing. The showers and toilets were a bit grim when we arrived, the toilets in particular had bits of tissue everywhere and I felt pretty uncomfortable going in there in bare feet. Changing "rooms" were also a bit gross and all seemed to have a big puddle of freezing cold water exactly where you want to stand and get changed! We did see the changing areas and the showers being hosed down a couple of times by staff so that was good, but we clearly arrived at a bad time! The pool is good for kids, not too big or too deep at any point. I found the water a bit on the cool side but it wasn't freezing. We stayed for about an hour and a half and it definitely got a lot quieter around 5pm which was nice and meant our kids got a chance at the bigger floats. Overall we had fun but just wish it was a bit less grubby and had some investment, it's in a great location and could be so much nicer.

Positive experience: Hunstanton was basically shut for low season / it was raining in October. This was one of the very few places open catering for kids. We went in and sat down. It took quite a while to order due to some kind of confusion between staff about who was doing what, and a not very helpful at all family in front of us giving the poor girl on the till a hard time. Got our order and ate within 10 minutes. Usual leisure centre/ soft play menu. Cheesy chips. Sandwiches. Tea, coffee, soft drinks. A selection of hot food too. We could see the pool from the canteen. Seemed to be busy. We went into the soft play which cost £6.50. We entered at 2pm and had a slot until 3:30pm. Soft play area was decent. Multi level, lots of ramps and climbing stuff. Two air cannons at the top. A decent slide chute to keep most young kids entertained. The place recommends four years old and up. The place was FREEZING cold! I had zero connection to the internet through my phone provider. So it became a slog of looking out at the rainy sea, or getting up and moving about to keep warm and try and failing to get any connection on my phone. The kids loved it though, so it was technically a win. Decent enough. Could do with a bit better organisation in the canteen area.

Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool. Access for disabled is somewhat difficult. However they do have a crane to lower people in. 1.5 is the deepest and that's the middle rather than the ends. Lifeguards are proper strict which is . Changing rooms and lockers available. Toilets are easy to access. Showers are available but please don't strip off as it's embarrassing for other people apparently. Prices are very cheap and you don't need to book. Still has a cafe and seating for people who are too grumpy to join in. Receptionist is very polite and helpful

Fantastic experience: So welcoming Friendly staff

Positive experience: Generally a good venue when the weather is not great. Pool is good and the kids will like the slide. We visited on a weekend and the good thing is they do limit the numbers in the pool by timeslots. Could do with an online booking system to help with this though. Also upgrading the lockers would be good, most are on their last legs.

Positive experience: Very busy in the pool. Life guards very friendly

Rachel Tomlinson 1 year ago

Negative experience: Awful. The place is filthy. I didn’t want to put my feet on the floor when changing. Everything is dirty. Lockers ‘swallowed’ multiple 20p’s without locking. Do not bring your babies here - level of filth (& cold pool) is not good for anyone.

Negative experience: Well over priced. Food wasn't gd at all. Won't be going there again with the kids. Shocking

Fantastic experience: Great fun, affordable and perfect idea for kids birthday party !

vinnie wonka 1 year ago

Positive experience: Like the pool and slide itself, but the layout is terrible - very small reception area, tiny changing cubicles and payable lockers. No family changing rooms, mirrors or hairdryers (that I could find); I would hate getting out of the pool with wet hair in the winter months.

Positive experience: Really nice swimming pool. Loved the slide! The pool temperature was just right and it wasn't too crowded either. The staff ensure there aren't too many people on the pool at any time which, I think, is really good.

Brian Whomes 2 years ago

Positive experience: Coffee good price, nice and warm in the winter looking at the sea ,felt bad yesterday though no tables to look out to sea so we sat overlooking the pool and was approached by one of the staff about looking at kids in the pool so it's a good idea not to use tables looking towards the pool in future.

Negative experience: Really expensive gym. Was only here for a week and 5 sessions at £7.50 is too much. Not overly impressed with the equipment either

Positive experience: Nos encanta ir para pasar un rato en familia. Las instalaciones están limpias y el agua caliente. No suele haber mucha gente y eso lo hace muy agradable. Lo ideal sería que las duchas fueran individuales pero por lo demás es estupendo.

Positive experience: It's OK. Went with two small kids aged 6 and 7 and they loved the slide and generally happy splashing about. When we went there are a bit of a wait as their computer was down/updating. As other have said here it's all a bit tired and could do with some renovation works. The showers are not great (not private and some don't work, low pressure) and the lockers eat 20p every time you open. The pool wasn't particularly cold but they jammed the doors open so the breeze made it feel colder when out of the water (although maybe a covid protocol). Having said all of that the kids enjoyed it for about an hour and bit and I would return, just manage expectations and you'll be fine.

Positive experience: Bang average. Fine for basic swimming but you won't spend longer than an hour here. A puddle would be bigger than the toddler pool.

Lauren Fernley 2 years ago

Negative experience: Awful! Arrived at the pool by 10:15 to be told it was already at maximum capacity and that we would have to wait an hour if not more. Not ideal with a 5 year old in tow! Very unhelpful receptionist as well. Maybe it would be an idea to have a booking system in place, especially during school holidays, to book a 2 hour slot. Very disappointing.

Positive experience: Good pool, boys love the slide. Changing rooms a bit cramped and shabby but that doesn't affect the swimming!

Negative experience: What a let down pool is freezing cold lockers dont work put money in then waited 10 mins for someone to come help they also never honered the kids swim for 1 quid paid 16 odd to get in for 3 people then ended up nearly getting locked in the changing rooms as the lock was jammed

Emma Robinson 3 years ago

Negative experience: Swimming pool review... Positives: - kids (girls aged 11 and 13) enjoyed it - slide is good - lovely friendly life guard was chatting and laughing with the swimmers Negatives: - water was cold when we went - changing rooms are poolside and very noisy - only 6 showers by the pool. Open for everyone to see so no opportunity for a 'proper' shower. - lockers take 20p that you don't get back so need to plan ahead if you want to get stuff out of your locker and lock it back up again - I thought pool would be bigger from the photos - no deep end for jumping and diving

Negative experience: On the website said slide is open from 3pm-7pm every 30 minute of the hour, so i decided to go as i love water slides, i got there and paid about £6.00 (something i cant remember how much) i arrived just after 3pm and got into the pool, it got to 15:40 and the slide hadnt opened, when i asked the guy said they are shorted staffed, he then said it will be open on the weekend, it would of been nice to go into the slide and feel like i had my moneys worth, i didnt enjoy it at all i dont recommend. Apart from this the chnaging facilties where ok, dirty and not much room for a family to get changed in. very poor.

Negative experience: Visited because we were on holiday there. Found it overpriced and not that clean. Not really set up for families or little ones, I really struggled changing my 15 month old after swimming with no where to really put him. The changing room smelt of urinals. Entrance into the pool not geared for little ones either with an up an over edge. Found that quite dangerous for my little one who wanted to climb out but was faced with a tiny ledge then a drop on the other side.

Positive experience: Lovely pool with a big water slide. They are limiting numbers at the moment so there is sometimes quite a queue and a lengthy wait. If its busy you are only allowed an hour so I would recommend having your swimmers on under your clothes when you go. Felt very safe with all the covid precautions it was very clean

Negative experience: Very poor service after lock down. I was never informed of when swimming lessons would recommence. So daughter had missed lessons. Would of been nice to be informed. After not going for what seems like an age I took my daughter to swimming lessons. I walked in with my mask on and sat at designated seating that are all ready socially distanced. I took my mask of as felt very light headed only to be confronted by a staff member telling me to put this on. I explained that i had only just removed it and that no one else was here so i thought i could just take a breather. When I asked her about the staff member whom had walked past us without a mask. She had explained that he does not require to wear one. I turned around and said no rules should apply to all. She explained he is moving so he doesn't need to wear one. Sorry oasis but rules apply to all. The staff member came back and told me that I lied at reception about mask etc. But she walked past staff member I had complained about and handed him a shield visor to wear. So if he didn't need to wear one why give him this and shout at me in the facility. Sorry but I never lied. Why would i? You should not accuse customers of lieing and or shout at them while attending the facility in a very unprofessional manner. Before lockdown food standards have slipped and food is not worth eating. I would say inedible. Customer service is non existent and like they don't care about how people are feeling or indeed the way they talk to their customers. Pool temperature is way too cold and facilities are very dated need to be more better. Skating used to be inside years ago so could be all weather permitting now it is only when weather is suitable. Took out the jacuzzi for what? Aloud to swim but not aloud to wash after due to covid as not safe. Thought washing was best way to stop this virus from spreading. Guess I was wrong. Wouldn't it be more accessible if put screens in shower area so not next go someone else. This idea could of been implemented while we where in lockdown. But no, it wasn't.

sue fox 4 years ago

Positive experience: Okay needs to be updated.especially as it in a busy seaside town. Need to organise it differently than queueing outside for an hour!!! Very small pool. Reasonable clean!!

Susan Cheeseman 4 years ago

Negative experience: When we arrived it was pouring with rain , we had to queue outside with two children a baby and an OAP!! I think they should have made the seating area of the soft play available to all of the people queing outside. Once inside we then had to fill out a track and trace form. This could have easily been done if we were all inside obviously we could have been social distancing inside.

Positive experience: Now I will be honest, I never used the facilities here, this is purely customer service based. The staff here are AMAZING and so kind. I am not local, I was at the beach with my partner and daughter when she fell out of her pushchair onto the concrete outside. She cracked the back of her head, there was blood, and of course I panicked. I ran to the nearest building to ask for help. We were greeted on the reception by a lovely woman who called a first aider immediately. The lifeguard came out and took some information from us while assessing my daughter. She was given an ice pack but thankfully returned to her mischievous self after a few tears and started greeting customers on the door. We were given the ice pack and a cover for her head but being a toddler she refused to have anything on but stopped bleeding relatively quickly after use of the pack. The staff were so friendly and kind, like it wasn't a trouble at all to help us, considering it wasn't even on their premisies their reaction was way beyond what I expected. They went above and betond, such wonderful staff here. We will definitely be going back to try out the pool, maybe when woo has grown up and isn't so accident prone!
