Burntwood Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: Visiting locally for a week. Have swum here on three occasions so far, tomorrow will be final visit. Staff are friendly and helpful. Entrance is bright and modern. Communal changing rooms with single cubicles, at least one for baby changing (I wasn’t counting). Pool tiling is non-slip, so no need for flip flops. Lockers need a 20p coin. Male toilets clean, with plentiful toilet rolls. Showers are individual with lockable doors; water temperature spot on. Main pool is 25 metre. Well maintained with attentive lifeguards. Water 9/10 for clarity, with no sunken plasters or hairs. Pool split into three wide lanes for public lane swimming, all being set up for clockwise/anti-clockwise swims. Large part of available day time is taken by school swimming lessons, but morning public sessions are 7 to 9:45 am on most days. Clean, modern and well-appointed cafe, which I have not sampled. Ample free parking. Overall, an excellent swimming venue, although there are other facilities, such as fitness suites and sauna here.

Fantastic experience: As a Frequent visitor I am really happy with my membership here. It's easy to book onto classes or cancel if you can't make it. Pool times are good and staff are all really pleasant. Pool changing rooms need an upgrade but showers are hot and there are plenty of functioning lockers and stalls etc. The members changing rooms are much better though

Positive experience: Nice pool, friendly staff, clean enough. Swim teachers seem very good. Love that there is music on for swimming. I find the hours for lane swimming a bit odd. Would be great if perhaps they had one lane for Swimmers continuously, as enough people seemed to be trying during family time.

Fantastic experience: Really bright and refreshing inside after it’s renovation last year, especially grateful to the staff on reception and in the cafe who always go the extra mile!

Negative experience: Turned up this morning early for the 11am swim. Cancelled however nothing online. Come back at 12 they say. Come back at 11:45 waited in a queue then they just put up a sign saying full.

Negative experience: Really nice place and swimming pool but the people at the desk/till are just a joke, zero stress, zero F given and nobody ever answeres that phone, they should just remove it. Nice place but it's a mission to get in, you need a lot of patience.

Negative experience: Very disappointed Organised a group netball session at the centre after ringing several times to check the correct booking and price (stating NETBALL court) No members of staff picked up that ONE badminton court ( 1/4 of the size of a netball court) had been booked. All members arrived (several coming +1hr away from Worcester) to be told the wrong court had been booked by ‘trained’ leisure centre staff even after follow up calls were made to double check. Won’t be returning

Fantastic experience: Take my little one here for swim lessons every week. The teaching pool is always warm as well as the changing rooms and they are always very clean. Plenty of parking on site. Parent and toddler spaces & disabled spaces

Negative experience: I took my 20 month old and my 7 year old swimming last week. I’m not trying desperately to find another place with a baby pool, because this place was vile. Whilst it has a baby pool and main pool the pools and changing rooms smell like nappy bins. Going to the side of the pool the drains reeked. We were gagging walking into the changing rooms on initial entry and the smell remained even in the pool. I felt dirty being in that water! All for the rip off price of £15!!

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre, my children have swimming lessons here too, always come away with smiles on their faces. Very clean and staff always helpful.

Negative experience: Car park is ridiculous in the evenings, almost always full, footballers parking in the disabled areas and nothing is done about it. End up parking on gravel hundreds of yards away. Big delays at Reception as they are always serving coffee! Swimming sessions are too short, there is always some gym equipment broken and not repaired for a while. Sauna area is closed off an hour before the gym! Difficult to go because it closes during a busy time for the gym. Good price for family membership, but too many shortcomings.

Positive experience: Love bringing my little one swimming however the changing rooms are always dirty/messy especially the baby ones had to remove used swim nappies a few times and sinks been dirty and changing tables. Staff are all lovely and friendly The jaffa cake slices of cake is amazing and the coffee is good too, the food is well priced .

Positive experience: Nice day out on the field outside supplied by play in the park.

Fantastic experience: This is a very good centre it has loads to do. I go because of the lad I support we go to the gym which has loads of equipment and also the walking football on the astro turf which is very well kept. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: Not the best! We spent half our available swim time trying to find a locker with a working mechanism! Once located the key's ankle/wrist strap was broken so whilst trying to find a safe place to secure the key during our swim: my daughter slipped over on the wet pool side and smacked her head. Accidents are going to happen but the circumstances surrounding it: ie decrepit facilities, was vexing!

Negative experience: Old burntwood baths was the best , was like 10/12 ft deep , so much better , was a big big mistake knocking the old one down for this tat we have here now , I still remember the old one as if it was yesterday, was the best !!! This one doesn’t even touch it , waste of time !

Positive experience: Great hub to use for fitness in the centre of the community Also has a wonderful little beauty room where leanne delivers an amazing service of waxing, nails and other treatments A large swimming pool and toddler pool is also available. There are the very important astro pitches as well! If you need to exercise then there is setting setting everyone. The classes are also good fun! There is a strange room to use if you are a member the newly upgraded gym and changing area is great.

Positive experience: Staff are nice little bit on a the cold side in baby pool but apart from that all is good kids love it Lost a couple of stars on the soft play although it is good it's quite expensive at 3 pounds a hour and is very small compared to the 3.50 you spend at wacky warehouse for 3 hours Also the process of the door was frustrating the staff there are already rushed off there feet during peak periods and they have to let you in

Negative experience: Not very well organized, if closing down due to bank holiday or polling station, no notice sent through email or text, phone calls are never answered and website doesn't say nothing. Yet when it comes to direct debit issues, email will be there straight away. Also parking is always full due to football games.

Negative experience: I was mugged by some school students wearing a blue blaser and a yellow stripy tie! They stole my phone and my money due to the recent amount of anti social behaviour I strongly recommend you do not go

Positive experience: Glad to see that Freedom Leisure have been dropped. The swimming changing rooms, and the pool itself, were very unclean under Freedom Leisure. I stopped using the pool 18 months ago for this reason. Will now return after the April take over.

Positive experience: Had brilliant time swimming on Sunday only 23 people including us in the large pool so was lovely and quiet and had plenty of space to swim x

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant i brought my son's here in the middle 80's and it was the best thing now we are bringing our granddaughter and she loves it the teacher is on the ball very gently got our little one into the water at her own pace the same this week and we could see her little class encouraging our little one with kicking her legs and making it to the side they are a lovely group helping and encouraging and engaging with their Teacher who is relaxed and confident yes I would definitely recommend this place

Positive experience: My family and I went to the roller disco at the weekend, great fun in the hall. The only drawback was that it was cash only to get in. That and the gang of "youths" hanging about outside the building shouting and spitting, wasn't the most friendly to have to walk through on the way in and out.

Negative experience: Expensive membership fees and unreliable swimming pool. Closures recently

Fantastic experience: Called for coffee, lovely friendly people

Negative experience: Nice gym facility and health suit is good and staff are helpful and friendly but a few issues have changed recently to which I found upsetting , firstly the heath suit now closes Monday to Friday at 8pm which makes it difficult for me to have a gym session of any note followed by the sauna and secondly the showers are always cold to which is not my preference especially in winter.

Negative experience: Terrible gym steam rooms never open gyms over crowded and cant charge phone any longer then 10 mins In the reception despite paying 50 quid a month. Shocking place

Negative experience: Play Racketball here 3 to 4 times a week. Dirty great big hole in the ceiling where the seated area is near Court 1, its been like that now for over 12 months with a dustbin/litter bin underneath to catch any moisture. Surely a health and trip hazard all in one!!! Now the courts themselves. Line markings almost non existent. Court surface is dusty and dirty. It's common to see blood on the walls, a point I have raised before. Paint rapidly peeling off the side walls. The Male changing rooms are regularly cleaned but the showers themselves are down to a "trickle" . As ever the saving grace for this place are the loyal, hard working staff. Well done

Negative experience: This place is a dump. The shower are set up to burn you after you had your swim, not a pleasent experience for me or my child. If you are lucky you get a "hairdryer" that works. I'm surprised this place is still opened.

Positive experience: Great facilities and fun for all the family, just a shame some of the younger lifeguards are complete idiots and try to ruin you having some fun whilst trying to teach my daughter how to swim! Making up rules as they go... if it isn't written on the rules board then get out my face!!!

Negative experience: This feedback is in regard to the baby pool only. The temperature of the water, unfortunately, was suddenly lowered permanently without any advance warning. I have prepaid for a month of baby swim classes in advance and I feel that this important change in the facilities should have been communicated to me. We attended our baby swim class as usual (without knowing the pool would be so cold until we got into it), and my baby cried all the time in the water (which is highly unusual for him) and developed cough the next day. I will be discontinuing the use of these facilities for my child.

Negative experience: EDIT **Initial review made in November 22. Update February 23. The local authority have taken over this leisure centre again & improvements are already being made. This is great news for this centre, it’s staff & community. ** This centre has regrettably been taken over by ‘freedom leisure’. The centre still has amazing, committed staff who try their best under freedom leisure’s ‘guidance’ to maintain some of the lovely ‘family feel’ that used to be…unfortunately Freedom seem to be purely a business - prices are constantly increasing, but there is a continued lack of attention to the building inside & out. The park used to be a hub for families with young children before & after swim lessons…photos show where Freedoms attention is - unfortunately not in the places where community used to thrive.

Positive experience: Facilities are good, with plenty of baby changing in pool area. School children where there at the time of visit, they were very unruly in the changing area and upset my young twins.

Negative experience: The only reason this gets a one is because the pool is very nice. Everything else is awful like making 11 year old kids pay 40 quid for 2 hours and 1 pound 50 pence for a 100ml bottle of a fruit shoot

Positive experience: This is a good leisure centre with a range of outdoor and indoor sports and fun activities for old and young. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare when there's lots of football on.

Positive experience: Take my daughter here while swimming lessons are off to keep practising. The shallow pool is a good size, not over crowded. It does had a lot of dirt/grit near the stairs by is fine once you're past that.

Fantastic experience: I went here with my niece and great niece for her swimming lesson. I was greeted warmly by reception staff and had a lovely coffe brought to the table as I had a walking stick. I thanked them on the way out for being so welcoming and helpful. My baby niece loves the swimming lessons they give too.
