Positive experience: Decent Gym and swimming facilities. The gym would benefit from more equipment for variety (possibly a boxing bag for cardio). Swimming facilities are good but the timetable for open times is ALL over the place. Soft play area is decent.

Fantastic experience: Nice pool, reasonable changers, but could do with more space. Tidy, clean, and not too busy as they keep to capacity limits. Stainless steel floor for the pool is a first for me. But was nice. Will go back.

Negative experience: I recently enrolled my four-year-old son in swimming lessons at the leisure centre. However, within his first four lessons, he encountered bullying ( The other kids filled their mouths with pool water and splashed it onto my son's face) from other child twice, which went unnoticed by the instructor. My son scared wants to go home. Upon requesting a change in his class and instructor, the situation did not improve. The new instructor showed little attention to my child, focusing instead on other students. Even when my son needed guidance, the instructor's interaction was minimal, stating that he only had limited time with each student. Furthermore, my son experienced discomfort in the pool, requiring assistance, but the instructor failed to provide any attention or support. He drank a lot of pool water!! This experience has left me disappointed with the leisure centre's handling of the situation and the quality of instruction provided.

Fantastic experience: This pool is definitely warmer than Laura Trott. Lockers could use an update to be able to use with a card rather than a coin.

Negative experience: The swimming classes for the kids are amazing and the instructors are great, but the water is not warm enough. I was warned about this. However, the location of these pools were super convenient for us. Just behind us. Please JW, go a few degrees higher and make it reasonable. It's freezing cold right now, so who wants to swim in cold water...

Positive experience: Good classes and facilities. Changing rooms, toilets and swimming pool could do with an upgrade but overall a good place to go to excercise. My daughter loves her swimming lessons so would recommend this tobothers looking for lessons

Negative experience: My family is using the pool for more than a year. It never been very clean but last month it become disgusting. In the pool itself were many plasters and other small stuff. Soil in the showers. Not mentioning under the benches. Have seen few children cutting themselves during lessons. Never seen the pool have general cleaning. Teachers are great!

Positive experience: Good learner pool for 5-6yrs olds. Need 50p coin if you want a locker and looked like you need change for the hair dryers. Other than that great pool good depth and clean.

Fantastic experience: Nice place to play badminton in ✅ They usually have courts available. They also have a pool with swimming classes for children and adults, a soft play with cafe, and a gym.

Fantastic experience: Great little place to swim, far better than nearby Fanshawe. There is a kiddie pool that’s almost always full, but the deep pool has some people but mostly older children and adults. Overall, fanshawe is bad and John Warner is better by all means.

Negative experience: The badminton court is poorly lit. Out of 60 bulbs over court 1, 42 bulbs don't work.

Positive experience: I’ve visited this centre twice of the last month to use the pool facilities. The pool itself is a generous size and appears clean and well kept. The pools changing facilities however remain in desperate need of some love and attention. As per many previous reviewers, the locker/changing rooms remain damp, smelly and in an obvious need of descaling and sanitation. Some money and time needs to be put in to bring this facility up to date, it’s clearly liked by families/kids/adults but I imagine we’re all thinking the same thing, we’ve seen worse and we’ve seen better. This centre needs someone with a bit of love and passion to help restore it to what it once was and/or better.

Negative experience: Just spoke with an incredibly rude lady on the phone not very helpful been trying to cancel my membership for ages and lady is refusing me wants to charge me more and more money stay away from this place. She needs a serious attitude adjustment and needs to learn customer service

Fantastic experience: I go swimming here during the week and the staff are lovely. I'm disabled and have to use the lift in the pool. I can get shy about this because my disability is not visible but the staff are always really accommodating

Positive experience: Went swimming here. Although the pools are nice themselves the changing areas are dirty. The floors are dirty. It needs descaling and a complete paint. It’s just like they can’t be bothered to sort that part of it out. Although I have been here a number of times this time round it smelt like stale pee in the pool. There was a sign saying about the shortage of chemicals but not sure if that’s to do with it?

Positive experience: We go for our children's swimming lessons during the week, they're always really good glasses. The aquarobics seems popular. The whole place could be cleaner and the cafe is permanently closed.

Negative experience: The soft play is quite small but okay, please be aware if you are visiting that the cafe is not open and won't be opening again in the near future, also there are no drinks in the vending machine so make sure you bring drinks with you.

Fantastic experience: Very nice sport centre to visit. I started with the gym but as usual get bored too quickly. But thankfully this centre has lots of different classes for every taste and hey ho I am again visiting the centre every week

Positive experience: Cafeteria could be open on a busy day like a sagirday but staff are all nice and polite.

Negative experience: Went swimming for the first time this morning and the changing rooms were absolutely filthy. We're not talking a day or even a couple of days dirt this must be weeks worth. Brown all around the floor, what looks like milkshake splatter up all of the lockers. The locker key wrist bands are broken. Really disappointing I won't be returning. Only good thing was girl on reception was very friendly.

Positive experience: Pool area is fine but not all the showers work and the changing cubicles could do with cleaning. Odd things left around and a bit dirty in places

Positive experience: We use the swimming pool here, slightly odd metal floor to the pool but a good size for young children to develop confidence. It's a shame that timed sessions have started now.

Negative experience: Very disappointed - I checked the timetable for Saturday public swim today which should have started at 12. I left home with my Grandson at 11.15 paid £7 for bus fares to get there only to be told when we arrived that the session had been moved and would start at 1.30 - What a waste of time I complained as this is not the first time this has happened and was told by the manager that they had a new website and wasn't able to put a notice up about the change - What about the previous time then ?? Would suggest any swimmers making plans for their day phone before leaving home so that you don't get disappointed Walked out in disgust with the sarcastic manager saying - Thanks Have a nice day !! Won't be going back there in a hurry

Fantastic experience: Today I rejoined John Warner . I wanted to mention by name Emma and Andrea Wood and the other man on reception. They were fabulous and it was so fast . Andrea was due to go home and quickly fitted me in which was so kind and we had such a lovely chat. Such a great centre I feel lucky to live near with lovely staff. Thanks so much.

Negative experience: Bit disappointed when we went for family swim today and found 7 other families queuing on a 1 in, 1 out basis and no system in place to turn over the people in the pool. Would have been good if there had been a way to either pre book or at least have times set for sessions hourly or something similar as we ended up with 2 very disappointed boys and less than happy parents. Staff were lovely but just an unfortunate situation. Shame.

Positive experience: There's always people coming in and out of he leisure centre and they offer many facilities. I play badminton with a local club but many friends have enjoyed swimming for a reasonable price too. Lots of paring and staff are around and helpful.

Positive experience: I only swim here on Sunday's and recently the manager took away the swimming lanes because a few parents complained about waiting to get in. I wrote to her explaining that the amount of people in the main swimming pool was going down but was told that it will be reviewed after Christmas. I am not impressed!

Positive experience: Lovely swimming pool and staff seem friendly enough when I've been. The only downside from the areas I have used so far have been the changing rooms. The lockers are old and the key bands are awful. There are no closed in showers and the hairdryers are very old and still powered by a coin. It's a shame because it's sister centre, Laura Trott, has a more modern take. Updating this area should be a priority.

Fantastic experience: On 12th October, when leaving the centre, I slipped and fell in the car park at the John Warner Sports Centre. It was a very hard fall, and impacted an existing injury to my back. I was immediately attended by several members of the team, and I just don't have the words to thank them enough for the way that they looked after me. I was unable to get up from the floor for over three hours, and they stayed with me the whole time - covering me up to keep me warm, shielding me from the rain with umbrellas. They called an ambulance, and after three hours they called back, and were told that the wait time could be up to 13 hours!! I then made the decision that they were going to get me up, and any consequences would be my responsibility. They assisted me into a wheelchair, took me inside and made me a cup of tea while someone came to collect me. I became aware that at least two of them had actually finished their shifts hours previously, but they had chosen to stay with me through a real sense of care and concern. I am genuinely overwhelmed by their behaviour, they were the absolute textbook definition of "going over and above". I was obviously in a lot of pain and distress, so unfortunately I can't remember everyone's names, but the stand-outs were Sharon (I think she is a Manager?), Sonny and Martin. As if that wasn't enough, I got a lovely phone call the next day from Elliot to check up on me and see how I was - I was so touched. I I would really like them all to be acknowledged for the care, empathy and kindness that they showed me, and for being a group of genuinely lovely people!

Negative experience: Some staff are even incapable of greeting and saying bye, especially at the reception. Swimming pool changing rooms are very unhygienic and needs looking after. The gym is small and dated. Tried it for a day and wouldn't bother coming back.

Positive experience: Swimming pool is great clean and warm. Good for children. Changing rooms are huge catastrophe. Unclean, falling apart state of disrepair. Big embarrassment really. Invest please.

Negative experience: The poolside showers are in a state of poor repair. Shame they let the rest of the facilitates down. Especially after months off not being allowed to use them.

Positive experience: I went here to go swimming. The pool is nice, and a good length. However the pool water was far too warm to do exercise in, and on one side of the pool there was a nasty smell.

Negative experience: Old and run down, changing rooms are not clean, very delayed in changes to COVID restrictions, long one way system to get to the gym, bookings required

Negative experience: John Warner's staff do not care about their paying members. I keep membership because of the pool but really need to reconsider. They never bother to update their online timetable or even put a note in the reception...So you check the timetable, find a slot when the pool is available for lane or public swim, turn up ...and see only one lane available for swimming and even that is shared by 6-10 people of different abilities! Good luck having a swimming training session! All because one of their instructors decides to make some extra money by teaching little Johnny swim at 6pm on Monday evening. You question them why?They just say... I don't know.. School holidays - even better - turn up for a swim and half of the pool is closed for instructor training with just one lane available for swimming. Instructor training was a planned activity over a few days, so why not update the members? NOWHERE in the timetable, online or reception there are updates about this. Staff needs to learn to respect their members and have some courtesy to update the public. Changing rooms are filthy, especially in the evenings. No one seems to be cleaning throughout the day, just at the end of the day.

Negative experience: Swimming pool staff and reception 10/10 Cafe staff........appalling the girl who served me was so rude and made me feel that i did not want to be there. I asked if they done sausage sandwiches and she just sighed and looked away then pointed at the menu

Fantastic experience: Really modern swimming pool made out of metal.

Positive experience: Good all round gym and not too busy. However, couple bits of the equipment are the worse I've ever used. Forces you to do the most unnatural / uncomfortable movements (row & bench upstairs). Has a drawn-out entry system too, why they cant use the turn style like every other gym I don't know. Also, the female staff are miserable, especially on reception! Come on, crack a smile.

Negative experience: Opened an account online as thought would be easier to book classes this way. However, always get the message that "this class is not available to book online". Setting up an online account is useless and pointless. Have emailed both John Warner and Laura Trott centres on several occasions but never, never, ever get a reply. As phoning then is the only option left available, when you do it takes a long time to get through and a long time to book/pay which is difficult when you're at work. Hence why would like to book/pay online! Classes I have tried have been good but are limited both on timings and regularity. Have given up due to the above :(

Positive experience: I like it here, it's not as busy as Laura trott and is very friendly and relaxed environment. The young people actually talk to eachother and you have all ages and abilities training with eachother, as well as personal trainers and gym instructors on hand to help you out or advise you on things as they don't seem to be very busy so have more time to show you things.. Sadly the egym isn't as good as Laura trott in Cheshunt and the egym cardio equipment is not linked up to the internet so a bit pointless if you asked me. Has super friendly, helpful and professional staff; customer service experience is exceptionally good. I honestly do like this place just wish some machines were not missing such as a hip abductor or ab crunch machine :/ I did however see a lot of free-weights alternatives which was really easy to access. Need 20p for gym lockers or a trolly coin ;) I'll be back VERY SOON for sure.
