BH Live Active, Littledown: Opinions
Negative experience: I’ve been to this place a few times now. The gym is like a meat market and unfortunately some gyms are just like that. So that’s a negative. The gym is ok. I would give it 5 out of 10. Not very modern. The lighting is bright and in your face. Not modernised and dimmed like it is in more modern gyms. I think the spa is disappointing as well. The changing rooms are always ram packed, and the floor is pretty disgusting. I advise wearing flip-flops here for sure. You’ll be lucky to get a locker that is operational. You then have to walk through a public swimming pool area (full of screaming kids), and you then enter the health spa with sauna and steam rooms provided, and, for me, this place needs a complete rethink. For somewhere that is supposed to be offering some peace and luxury for a user, you basically have one fantastic sauna (very hot; probably one of the best I’ve been in), and then another sauna taking up space which offers a very low warm temperature (why). So that pointless sauna costs money, and takes up a huge amount of room. Because of that limited space, you only have six deck chairs to sit on (even though this place is busy, and you need more than that). People need to sit/lay down in-between getting in and out of saunas. The showers in this health spa are also located right in front of these deck-chairs. So, if you’re hoping for a bit of privacy as you shower off following your sauna, I’m afraid that isn’t possible. You have an audience. The people sat on the deck-chairs are looking at you (what else are they going to look at when their chairs are facing you). Lastly, don’t get a day-pass for the gym and sauna. It’s £20. Complete rip-off. The staff on reception are always very dull and unfriendly, and when I questioned that amount today, I was told ‘it is, what it is’. Yes, you’re right darling. It is what it is. And I’m now inclined to look at what other gyms and health spas are available in my area, as that left a bitter taste in my mouth. There surely has to be something better than this place (gym and spa). It’s a shame because it obviously has potential, but whoever is managing/financing it, clearly isn’t bothered about making improvements. Oh, one last thing. The spa seems to always shut at 3 or 4pm. Just another random thing to annoy you about the place. So you have to work around this, and one occasion we were literally all booted out. And the reception staff never communicate the closing times for the spa on reception (surely that’s their job).
Hi Rob, Thank you for the feedback, it has been passed on to our management team. We are constantly looking to improve our facilities and customer feedback is vital in helping us achieve this. We have further centre improvements planned and look forward to sharing them with our customers in the near future. We hope to see you back on site soon. Many thanks
Positive experience: Joined today very easy experience
Negative experience: I came today after few months abd what I saw was disgusting. Changing room dirty, everywhere hair and mud on the floor, smell disgusting. Water in the pool was horrible after 15min my body burned and i couldn't continue swimming. Definitely I will not back there again
Fantastic experience: Great pool facilities. Sports halls are clean and a good size. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: I love it ,you have everything there ,sauna after work out, lots of classes, coffee shops with healthy options also, big parking place
Positive experience: I had an amazing time at Littledown fireworks as usual. I've been to the swimming area before which was great fun apart from the cold pool and the cafe area was a let down if that counts. The gymnastics area has a great atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. I go to the Littledown fireworks every year its great for all the family
Fantastic experience: Fantastic Firework Displays and plenty of food and entertainment for the kids in between xxx
Positive experience: Lovely reception staff, great pool, decent cafe. A tad expensive for a swim.
Negative experience: Updated 6 of us arrived last night for our 7 PM pre-booked badminton session (£14 court fee), only to find the court completely unusable. It was filled with all the trampolines and mats left over from previous bookings from all the other courts, everyone else badminton courts were ready to be used. We were told it would take at least 20 minutes to clear, cutting into our playtime. At the reception, Lucy (I think) was very polite and seemed genuinely shocked by the situation, but this isn’t the first time this has happened. Courts are frequently not ready on time, yet we’re still expected to leave promptly by 7:50 PM – with staff dismantling the net during play. Last night, after waiting until 7:21 PM for the court, we found it completely covered in dust and dirt, making it unsafe as players were slipping. --- We were kicked off our court, whilst playing a point. The staff member (an older brunette woman) had been hovering around since 6:50pm, at 6:55pm, she told us our time was up. When I asked if we could at least finish the point, she flat-out refused and started taking the net down while we were still on the court. I also pointed out that the courts are often set up late or left in poor condition (wet or filled with rubbish), but she didn’t seem to care. I held back this complaint because maybe she was just having a really bad day or something, but it was just plain rude. However, after getting to our last court, they didn’t put the net up until past 7:10pm, Most of the other staff are pretty good to us, but we’ve had issues trying to get through to the centre via phone, it’s almost impossible to reach anyone when we need to amend bookings or for other reasons. When I finally do get through, the staff have been rude before on the phone as well. On a previous visit, the receptionist (a younger Asian man) was pretty rude. When I politely asked “could somebody let me through for badminton if that’s all right?” (those exact words), he just said “Please”. Later, when I came back through, he saw me and turned his back on me and made me wait for someone else who was actually dealing with a customer. On top of this, I had to wait so long for assistance that I ended up with an £85 parking ticket. After emailing Littledown about this, I was told simply, ‘Details on how to contest this charge will be on the letter Horizon sent you.’ Overall, it’s disappointing, especially when we play every week. The attitude of certain staff members needs to be sorted. Unless something is sorted, These reviews will keeping coming from the other players Google accounts.
Hi Adam, thank you for your feedback. Your comments will be fully investigated and if you should wish to speak to our management team on site please ask at customer service. Many thanks
Negative experience: Utterly useless. They may as well unplug all the phones because clearly they have no idea how to answer one. Secondly only allowing you to swim for 30mins its stupid. Who ever thought that was a good idea should be removed from decision making
Fantastic experience: Enjoyed a swim and spa sauna and steam followed by lunch on the bar/restaurant outside terrace. Excellent centre all round
Fantastic experience: Great place, it has everything, from pool,.gym, classes, to caffeteria and soft play for little ones. I got the membership for my daughter and it is great as it has so many classes to go to, and also soft play is unlimited
Fantastic experience: A nice family-friendly place.
Fantastic experience: Dont bother having food in the bar area. My partner ordered ham egg and chips which took ages to come out, probably because it appeared the young chef was too busy watching the football than actually doing his job. When it came out the ham was completely missing so just egg and chips then is it? Complained at the bar and they said they'd bring out some ham.......it took 30 minutes for the ham to come out, at which point my partner had finished her food, not only that the ham was stone cold so how it took this long is beyond me. The chef quite obviously had other things on his mind, namely the football, than actually providing the service he was there to do. Sufficed to say we won't be back. **Edit** after making this initial complaint I was contacted by the management who stressed that this was not what they expected in terms of service and offered us to come back and try them again for a free meal. I have to say that on this occasion everything went amazing and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and we can't fault anything at all. This very much made us feel better about coming again and we thank you and your staff for showing us what you are capable of. For how we were treated this time I have bumped this review to a 5 star so thank you so much for putting things right.
Good afternoon James, Thank you for the review but I am sorry to read of your experience. Please can you email me directly [email protected] so I can look into this further. Many thanks
Negative experience: Everything is great at this leisure centre apart from weekends. The gym doesn't open until 8am and closes at 6pm. For £43 a month this isn't great as not enough time in the morning or evening to work out as people still work on the weekend.
Negative experience: Will the reception ever answer their phones to customers!!!! Its seems its all the time!
Hello Meg, thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. Our customer service team try their best the pick up the phones, however during extremely busy periods within the centre, this isn't always possible. If you are unable to get through to us, please complete a contact form via the BHLive website. This comes through to our reception team as an email where you can request a call back. We hope this helps - Littledown
Fantastic experience: Wanted to thank Molly Bourne in customer services for changing my sons swimming lesson time. She was very helpful on the phone and recieved an email the next day saying it was changed for me. Great, knowledgeable customer services is very much appreciated.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback regarding one of our members of customer service! This has been passed onto management where Molly will receive the recognition she deserves! Kind regards - Littledown
Fantastic experience: Had a bit of an issue with the parking and the manager, and deputy manager were both amazing. They did everything they could to help and did an incredible job. To be fair the entire staff always seem happy and are very helpful.
Hello Jay, thank you for the positive feedback! We are glad we were able to assist you with your parking issue. We hope to welcome you back to our centre soon . Kind regards, Littledown
Negative experience: Pool/ changing/ all facilities, of a high standard. Swimming time table dreadful! I , who lives very locally, cannot take my two grandsons to the pool on a Saturday morning. because of lane swimming! The learner pool unused I believe. Come on people. Make time for families to enjoy teaching and playing with their children on probably the only day of the week they can. Pos’ Sunday , early am?? Give it a try. I’m sure it will prove very popular. What say you parents??? J. Nick. Birnie.
Positive experience: Saturday morning football training for children. Also has a swimming pool and other sports facilities.
Positive experience: Went to the well equipped gym. Could use all the equipment I wanted to.
Negative experience: Shows as open until 10pm online, yet tried to book fir a swimming session this evening like i do every evening and says coming soon. Called them up to be told they are closing early as it's bank holiday?? Seems absolutely crazy in the middle of the 6 weeks holidays, and the early closing is not displayed online. Tried to call again to query it to ensure information was correct, now no one is answering phones. Surely a day where less people are at work it would make sense to have leisure physilities open. Tried to call twice again before posting and still no answer.
Hello Lisa, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I can confirm the bank holiday opening times are on our website which I have linked here https://pulse.ly/64byfabetr, you will need to scroll down to the bottom of the page. The quickest way to get through to us is by submitting a contact form via the BHLive website, you can request a call back and a friendly member of our reception team will be more than happy to help with any enquiries. We do hope you have a more pleasant experience with us next time. Thank you - Littledown
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym, clean, spacious, even when busy you don't feel claustrophobic and there's enough machines to go around. There's a personal trainer there, Tommy. If you need one, please go to him. He knows his stuff and, he's incredible.
Thank you Ben for taking the time to leave us such lovely feedback! We are so glad you enjoy using our centre, see you soon! Thank you - Littledown
Negative experience: High risk of getting a parking ticket. If you want to spend a good amount of time here you need to remember to go to reception to notify them you plan on staying over 3 hours. Also parts of the car park you seemingly cant park at all. Had a ticket today for using the car park for 1 hour 47 minutes, unsure why I can only assume there is a part of the car park that is out of bounds entirely. Parking tickets coming in at over £50! If you include the parking charges in your membership you may as well get a more premium membership at somewhere like the Village or Meyrick Park.
Positive experience: Great facilities, always clean and well kept. Staff are really good. The only downside is when you have to book any swims or classes, must be the worst app / online booking I have ever had to use.
Hello Lee, thank you for taking the time to leave us some honest feedback and we are glad you enjoy using our facilities. Please report to reception if you are experiencing any future difficulties with our app. A friendly member of staff will be more than happy to assist with any booking enquiries. Thank you - Littledown
Fantastic experience: The duty manager OLLIE is a lifesaver as I had lost my phone / bank cards but luckily Ollie was still onsite after closing time and very kindly helped me to search and find my belongings. Very grateful to you Ollie, your a star and a credit to your organisation
Many thanks for the 5-star review! It was a pleasure to help. We look forward to welcoming you back to Littledown again soon. Thanks - Ollie
Fantastic experience: Haven’t been here for ages! I went with my partner and son today and absolutely loved it! Changing rooms, showers and swimming pool were all clean and just couldn’t ask for more! Really enjoyed it.
Thank you Nathan! We look forward to welcoming you back soon
Positive experience: Went to the pool with my little niece . Family change. Floors could do with more mopping. Kids pool a bit chilly for babies. Pleasant staff.
Hi Paul. Thanks for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back to site soon. Thanks, Ollie
Fantastic experience: For Gods sake pick up the bloody phone!!! Great place lovely people brilliant etc etc but WHY OHWHY can’t you answer the phone Am I literally gonna have to drive down there
Good morning Paul, apologies you have been unable to get through to us. Please complete the contact form below and a member of the customer service team will call you back as soon as possible. https://pulse.ly/893mlqajy1 Thank you - Littledown
Positive experience: Great swimming pool and sauna
Negative experience: Would give it zero stars if possible, they tout themselves as a charity presumably as a tax dodge, they claim to not make enough money to keep their facilities open or have sensible opening hours in world of 24 hour gyms this one falls far short of even normal weekend opening hours. Constantly sacrifice member facilities for open days or events. Now they have started to give you parking fines to the tune of £85 if you use the gym longer than three hours, a move that screams we want your money but don't want you to use our facilities. Unfortunately I've been a member for the last 7 years since they took over the queen's park gym and it's been a downward spiral ever since then with opening hours slashed and facilities closed.
Hi Steve, thanks for the feedback. If you wish to discuss any of the points raised please do come and speak to us in centre. If you ever need more than 3hrs parking then please do mention that to the team on site and we will be happy to assist. The car park control has been put in to help our customers by reducing the parking used by others not visiting the Littledown Centre. We hope to welcome you back to site soon. Many thanks, BH Live Active
Negative experience: I am very disappointed with yesterday's visit to the upper cafe, the fries I bought for my grandchildren were fried in old, smelly oil. I am a person with 40 years of experience working in the kitchen. The children ate the fries because they were hungry, I tasted them at the end, if I knew earlier, I would never let them eat them.
Positive experience: Had a family afternoon at the outdoor pool... 3pm, prime time, and the ice cream and snack kiosk was shut... Was told I could get a few thing from the restaurant... Stopped off at the loo and it was filthy and stunk.. Went up to the restaurant through some iron gate and stairs to the patio... Tables had dirty plates with left over food, the floor was littered with cigarette butts, food, empty crisp bags and a few other things... The two young girls working there seemed to have no customer or service skills.. The management needs to address these issues seriously... All you have to do is read other poor reviews... Come Littledown.. Get your act together...
Hello Paul, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you are unhappy with our services. Please contact us via this link and a manager will be more than happy to discuss this further and provide clarification on some of the issues you have mentioned. https://pulse.ly/hnnddynjq9 Kindest regards - Littledown
Positive experience: I've been a member of bhlive for years and my two girls have had swimming lessons here for years too. They never answer the phones as there isn't enough staff. The changing rooms need a complete overhaul as some of the locker's don't work, the ceiling is falling apart, half the showers are cold and the moving space between the showers and the wall behind just isn't enough space for parents and kids to move in and out easily. The cost of membership has continued to go up yet they don't seem to be repairing or renewing the important things within the building with regards to facilities. Instead it's just how the building looks from the outside and from within the actual building itself.
Hello Leanne, thank you for the feedback and we are sorry to hear you are unhappy with our services. Please contact us via this link and a member of the team would be happy to discuss this further and provide some clarification on some of the issues you have mentioned. https://bhliveactive.org.uk/contact-us Kindest regards - Littledown
Positive experience: I go here with my daughter for playing football and the play park, teachers are great. Went inside all nice, modern, very popular. Outdoor toilets are in need of attention, other than that it's a very good gym for everyone we use it for. Many thanks.
Hi there David, I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit to the cafe when you came in recently. We had a BJJ event on recently, which I believe would have been on the day of your recent visit, which did lead to the Cafe being far busier than usual. We aim to provide friendly and consistent service for all of our customers, so I do apologise that you were disappointed on this occasion. We will aim to improve on your experience next time you visit. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: This company is really bad and it doesn't help at all, I cancelled my membership more than a month ago and this morning they took my money again, it is absolutely shameful and not acceptable.
Negative experience: MY CAR WAS STOLEN OUT OF LITTLEDOWN CAR PARK ON THE 16TH MAY 2024 AT THE MOST BUSIEST TIME OF THE DAY! LITTLEDOWN HAVE DONE NOTHING TO BE HELPFUL IN AIDING MYSELF LOCATING MY CAR. THEY REFUSED TO ALERT ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF LITTLEDOWN AND REFUSED MY REQUEST OF ASKING THEM TO ASK OTHER MEMBERS TO CHECK THEIR DASH CAMS OR IF THEY SAW ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS. I WAS TOLD THEY DONT HAVE A CAR THEFT ISSUE BY MANAGER TOM.. WELL CLEARLY YOU DO BECAUSE MY CAR WAS STOLEN FROM YOUR CAR PARK. I HAVE THAT CAR FOR 4 WEEKS!!!.. I HAVE DISABILITY WHICH MEANS I NEED MY CAR! I DONT HAVE MONEY TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE EITHER.. I AM BEYOND DEVASTATED AT THIS PRESENT TIME. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER SINCE 2014 NOW I WILL BE SEARCHING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE GYM DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR FROM YOUR TEAM....
Hi Phoenix, Thank you for your review and we are also responding to your email. We are sorry to read your comments. Having personally assisted you at the time and being aware of the guidance the team in centre provided, I am disappointed to hear that you felt the action taken hasn’t been supportive. To help raise awareness of this incident, we have provided information to the local paper to alert others, encourage vigilance and report any suspicious activity. We do sympathise with you and recognise the impact that this has had. As this is a reported crime, we will also continue to assist the police with their investigation in any way that we can. S Roberts, Centre Manager
Fantastic experience: I like the swimming pool and spa facilities in Littledown centre
Hi Nicole, thanks for taking the time to leave us a positive review. We appreciate you, and look forward to welcoming you back soon! - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: They cancel 2 weeks worth of child's swimming lessons, 1 with such short notice we were already on the way and refuse to refund for that. I'll just take my money to a place that gives me a service I've paid for then.
Hi Liam, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the service you have received. Unfortunately due to emergency works needing to be completed on the mains pipes which burst nearby to the centre, this required our water supply to be turned off. This was entirely out of our control, and we apologise for any impacted activities. Please do contact us on the following link, if you'd like to query anything further with us; https://pulse.ly/q4x6cvgxmu - Littledown Centre
Fantastic experience: A great leisure facility. Lots of parking but it does get busy so be prepared to park further back. Lovely staff, always friendly and smiley. We book classes for my toddler via the app it's super easy and quick. The terrace cafe is great, good food and lovely drinks a nice variety. A small bit lush soft play that keeps the small ones entertained for a good hour. We've been swimming a few times and the changing rooms are spacious, clean and tidy. The complex is easy to navigate. There is also a lift for any one that has difficulties with the stairs. There is also the the park at the back of the complex so when the weather is nice it's a great day out. Definitely recommend.
Thank you Katie! We appreciate you taking the time to leave some lovely feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back soon
Fantastic experience: A nice mix of machines and free weights (although more free weights would be nice) can get very busy. Clean changing rooms and good classes. Nice bar and cafe (the cafe and bar staff are really good and helpful) just watch out for the 3 hour parking restrictions!!
Thank you for the feedback Jo! We look forward to welcoming you back soon
Positive experience: Great that the leisure centre had so many free courts available, but given we booked specifically a badminton court, it would have been nice if the badminton net was set up when we arrived, instead of us having to spend some of our court time moving everything around and setting it up!
Hi Owen, thanks for taking the time to leave some positive feedback. I am sorry to hear about this inconvenience with your booking, and can assure you this is not how we look to run these activities. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. - Tom
Fantastic experience: Great keep fit and swimming centre. Easy parking and great cafe.
Thank you Carl, we are glad you enjoyed your recent visit
Positive experience: Nice enough gym but need to update hours online . Shuts at 6pm Saturday Sunday so wasted a trip thinking it shut at 7
Hello, please find our current and up to date opening hours using the link below. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll find the centre and gym opening times https://pulse.ly/lhwarnscuo Kind regards, Littledown
Negative experience: Warning: no slow lane. The price at less than £7 is reasonable and the facilities are good, reception were also lovely. However I went for a 10.30 swim session and disappointingly the slow lane was removed at 10.45 (to make more space for a class which didn't need it), and no alternative offered other than two very busy fast lanes and a very busy free area. It would be great if this could be indicated when booking so that slower swimmers are not left with nowhere to go and can book a more suitable time.
Hi Gwen, thanks for taking to time to leave some feedback. At times, due to operational reasons and to ensure we have a good selection of activities available for our customers we will be required to reduce the number of lanes to accommodate. Please accept our apologies for an disappointment, and I do hope we can welcome you back again soon! - Littledown Centre
Fantastic experience: Brilliant centre. Not easy to park today. Took grandchildren to soft play. Going to sign them up for trampoline next
Hi Nick, thank you for your feedback! We look forward to seeing you again soon
Negative experience: The SOFT PLAY are for kids is all the time all these years, dirty, full of hair or food crumbles, infected, I also asked the cleaning staff to clean it because babies can catch an infection there, but with insolence they never cleaned, we go there every week. On the contrary, the girls from the bar come and ask for the payment bracelet with such aggressive manner as if they were police officers. Please avoid and report too!
Negative experience: Dirty, swimming pool now cold, changing room floor filthy. Told a member of staff and they weren't interested, locker took my money and took 20 minutes for someone to assist, cafe FILTHY! floor covered in food and baby wipes. Staff all stood there doing very little and then they got our food order incorrect And we had to wait ages for them to correct while we cleaned our own table and children hungry after swim. Used to be a lovely place but now it is run down and staff look miserable and lots of them do very little! You can't call the centre as they do not answer and when you get a response they are not interested anyway. Won't be back!!! Sorry!
Fantastic experience: Great swim in the learners pool with my daughter (under 1yr old). Was able to park my pushchair right by the pool. Downside, my pushchair did not fit in the family changing rooms changing cubicle (back wheels would not fit through). But inside the changing cubicle was very spacious with lots of hooks for bags/coats.
Thank you Elizabeth! We hope to welcome you back to our centre soon
Fantastic experience: Always friendly staff, wheelchair accessible facilities, wide range of classes everything from seated yoga, swimming, to high impact groups, easy booking app
Thanks for such lovely feedback, Kirsty. Looking forward to welcoming you back again! - Littledown Centre
Fantastic experience: BHLive Littledown is our family's favorite place for fun and fitness. The variety of activities, welcoming staff, and clean facilities make it an ideal spot for quality family time while staying active.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback, May. We hope you welcome you again soon! - Littledown Centre
Positive experience: Nice leisure centre - if you can find a parking space...
Negative experience: Disgusting customer service , avoid at all costs,my wife completed cancellation form for my boy swimming lessons almost 3 months ago and they are still charging us money for that .We tried to sort this with them and claiming they do not have our cancellation form.Incompetent imbeciles.
Hello, apologies to hear you are unhappy with our level of service. Please complete a contact us from via the bhlive website and a member of customer service can assist you further with this. Thank you - Littledown
Negative experience: Sign up for £25 a month membership and then out of the blue charged me £120, no phone number to call and ive literally got to go into the centre to fix this? who on earth doesnt have a phone in the modern world
Hi Hannibal, I am sorry to hear of any issues you've been having. You can contact us on the following link to raise any issues and we will work to rectify this; https://pulse.ly/xbarqozu9c - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: If they did a deep clean regularly, it would be a great health club but they don't. No respect for members
Positive experience: Here for 2 day swim competition. Location is good and plenty of parking. However, the 3 hour limit can be a bit annoying when you are onsite for two full days of competition. Staff seem friendly enough although some areas need a regular clean based on number of people in centre rather than prescriptive time intervals..
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Please fill out the contact form linked below. Your feedback will be forwarded onto management to review. https://pulse.ly/1exbu3sgcw Warm regards - Littledown
Positive experience: Happy hour - £4.25 a pint ... same pint down the road is £2.95 any time The bar at the Littledown sports centre is a pretty soulless place these days.
Hello Simon, sorry to hear you weren't impressed with our bar prices. Please complete a contact us form linked below and this will be passed onto our café/bar manager. https://pulse.ly/qno6v1djh6
Negative experience: Leisure centre facilities are acceptable and staff are helpful. But you will never ever be able to reach them by phone.. it just rings and no one answers. You are not able to cancel paid classes on the app even with lots of notice. Can you add the facility to cancel paid classes please on the app, store the credit on my account for future classes Thanks
Hello Daz, thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear you are unhappy with our level of service. Please follow the link below and complete a contact us form. A member of customer service will respond accordingly. https://pulse.ly/vh8m0ej43u
Negative experience: Received a parking fine from Horizon Parking. Absolute rip off, went 14 minutes over attending a BCP charity event.
Hello David, please contact us via a contact us form on our website and we can try and assist you with this matter - Littledown
Negative experience: Will never use again any bh centres... they dont deal with complaints or problems even when told by management these issues are reoccurring problems with a certain member. You expect to become a member without any harassment or problems and if they arise be dealt with... not at this place.
Good morning Donna, Please fill out a contact us form via the BHlive website. This will be forwarded onto management and dealt with accordingly. https://pulse.ly/rouyxqjmmp
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. Took my 5 month old swimming in the ‘learner pool’ - it was absolutely freezing! It was full of older kids who could be swimming in the main pool and absolutely packed, so many of them jumping in and splashing it caught my little one in the face numerous times. Life guard just sat watching without a care in the world, just like all the parents with their feral kids. Surely it should be a safe place for people to take their babies Must be the worst experience of a local leisure centre we have ever had. Not to mention the family changing.. food all over the floors, hair, dirt.. you name it.. There are holes in the ceiling, damp coming through.. dare you want to take your shoes off in that place I don’t think it’s ever been cleaned!!!
Many thanks for your feedback. We apologise for your negative experience, and grateful for you communicating this with us. We would always prefer to discuss issues on the day in person to be able to rectify the situation immediately. Your feedback is noted and will assist us to address concerns and meet expectations. Thanks - Littledown Centre
Positive experience: Good place for a workout but could definitely do with some refurb and modernizing. During peak hours not enough weights or equipment.
Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. We appreciate your comments and will be take this onboard. Thanks - Littledown Centre
Positive experience: The place looks ok comes with a pool and big free car parks a few court but i think the try too hard to maximize the potential of the courts. There are so many overlapping lines it looks like floor graffitti. Their staffs looks over worked probably from turning the courts over and over for different sports purpose. Only one reception dealing with a customer in the late evening had us standing there for 10mins getting to our 1hr prebooked court while waiting for her to reach for the door buzzer less than 1 sec from the desk. Not cool...!
Hi Degmar, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback following your visit. In regards the lines in the Main Hall, this is required to accommodate a wide variety of sports which our customers want to take part in and is a multifunctional space. I can only apologise for any wait on your arrival for your court, next time you visit it may be best to request a card which will allow you access when you have a booking. Thank you - Littledown Centre
Positive experience: Gyn here is well equipped but as with most gyms can get crowded. Pool and sauna are great for after a session and not a lot of places have all of that
Hi there David, thanks for taking the time to leave us some positive feedback. We will look forward to seeing you again soon. - Littledown Centre
Fantastic experience: I became a member at little down on an exercise referral and working with Annabel who has been absolutely amazing and supportive. I have lost 3st since being at littledown. The gym is great and clean. The majority of staff are very kind. I have eaten in the terrace cafe lots of time and the food quality is good and cheap would recommend
Hi there Matthew, we really appreciate your positive feedback, Anabel is indeed a superstar! A huge well done on your fitness journey so far, great work! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Thanks - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: Littledown has totally gone down hill. Changing rooms for families are disgusting and the toilets stink! Luckily your actual pool seems to be well kept and clean. Will not be visiting again in a hurry.
Positive experience: Great venue, the littledown Fun Day was a great event, lots of people having fun. They did great at relocating all the stalls to the main hall at short notice. However, the volume of the speakers was way too loud, Well above safety levels, the music could be heard clearly in the Café even above the noise of the public in that area.
Thank you Annette! We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed our family fun day We appreciate the feedback regarding the noise levels and this will be passed on.
Positive experience: Great resources and generally well run centre, the phone lines unfortunately are non existent and the website says they’re open sometimes when they aren’t so you razz down just to be turned away.
Hi there, I am sorry to hear of any disappointment you have had regarding our opening times. The times listed on our website are correct, and show the Gym and Centre opening times separately to avoid confusion. My best recommendation to avoid any disappointment would be checking our session times on the app to see when they are available. Thanks, Littledown Centre
Negative experience: I had a bad experience with BH live active, after signing up for a membership deal and paying for it, I paid for the pleasure by forefitting the Joining fee of £20 when I changed my mind as it's not included in the 14 day cooling off period. I was only a member for 15mins and didn't use the centre, I feel this is very unfair. I wish I'd read the 1 star reviews on here, as I would never have joined this establishment.
Hi there David, thank you for your feedback. I can appreciate your frustration with this, and am aware that you have been in touch with the team to discuss this further. I do hope we can welcome you back as a member soon. Thanks, Littledown Centre
Negative experience: I used too go here with kids every couple of weeks, had a membership but it has gone down hill quick . Went too wet n wacky. Had afew floats nothing more. without use of flumes its just a swim too call it anymore being mis-sold. Q.E is alot better shame on bh Live for how bad the place has got
Hello Martin, We totally understand your frustration with this, we can confirm this issue has been addressed. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back soon. The Littledown team
Fantastic experience: I was very impressed by the place. All the facilities we saw were excellent, all the staff we met were extremely helpful. We took our 1 1/2 year old to a gym class. She had great fun. The class was well attended but it also had sufficient room for all. Great place, the locals are very fortunate to have available such facilities. (We live in Madrid, Spain, and wish we had a similar venue. Mind we have better weather!!!!)
Hi Keith, thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your recent visit to the centre. Take care, and hopefully see you again soon. - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: ***AVOID*** Awful, we felt conned, if you pay first payment directly it doesn't count towards your 3 month minimum commitment as was verbally told. Was also told direct debit for children's classes would not come out over the summer, and was given £15 late payment charge. Can't be trusted - Avoid at all costs
Hi Dominic, I am sorry to hear about your issues and would like to see if there is anything further we can do to help. If you would like to discuss this further with a manager then please feel free to submit a complaint on the following link; https://pulse.ly/n3f4jvg5dd We appreciate you taking the time to raise your concerns. Thanks, Littledown Centre
Positive experience: Attendance to the Bournmouth BJJ comp, was a very busy day for the sports centre. Managed to grab a parking spot, also used the cafe. Looks like this place has lots going on. Overall a nice facility.
Hi Sam, thank you for taking the time to leave some positive feedback. We appreciate your comments and look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future! Thanks - Littledown Centre
Negative experience: Most of the changing room Doors hasn’t got locks and the shower rooms are hygiene enough for last few years. Have concerned about these issues
Hello Kalpana, thank you for leaving us your feedback. This will be taken onboard and we will look to improve the areas of your concern. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I came in for some nachos and a coffee after, going to the gym. I was served by a nice girl named Kat. Thankyou for the excellent service, will be back again !
Fantastic experience: Always love coming here on a Wednesday, the staff are excellent and the service is impeccable. Special shout out to Katrina who always makes the best hot choccy
Fantastic experience: Lovely centre with super friendly lifeguards and amazing cafe. Kat on the till was fantastic, I have a peanut allergy and was able to list off the top of her head all the food available to me - super helpful! However, the guy making my coffee (Flynn) made it too hot so I had to wait before I could drink it which was annoying. Overall a great experience
Fantastic experience: Visited the cafe today at the Littledown. What a gem of a place whilst using the centre. Very good food and great options. Reasonably priced. Staff were really helpful, I was served by Felicia who was lovely. Will definitely be back soon
Fantastic experience: Great classes, can't imagine my life without my yoga with Steph, it really improved my wellbeing and back ache! Very grateful for this place!
Thanks for taking the time to give such lovely feedback, Gabriela. We are grateful for such lovely customers we have here too! See you soon! - Littledown Centre
Fantastic experience: An excellent reception with active help with app swimming and booking very easy, and made me feel at ease with everything. I did try phoning the night before but was advised phones no longer get answered due to the pressure of people in the centre and staff do not have the time. Also the answering hub for phone answering calls has been removed and an app now being used. It is such a shame we are getting rid of Humans for machines and apps, what are the next generation going to do for a job especially disabled of low achievers in education?
Fantastic experience: We went to the Fun Fair that is in town over Easter. Our little 3year old girl had a great time and all the staff were friendly and polite. Walking past the football pitches there were loads of children having fun. I think there was a 6-a-side tournament or club going on but everyone seemed to be having a great time. The little play park was busy with kids of all ages having a good time too. All in all, an enjoyable afternoon, by the looks of it, for everyone!
Positive experience: The facilities have all our family of 4 (2 boys under 6) needs, great family changing rooms and a soft play as well. But the babysittong setvices are gone since covis and there aren't many healthy eating options, which for a gym seems like how my old local hospital used to have a McDonalds.
Positive experience: This gym has a wonderful range of equipment but just a warning if you go during peak hours you get groups of kids doing 20 sets each on machines treating it more as a social club then a place to workout. That's the only downfall of this gym.
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting and filthy! I’ve been a member a 5 years ago and was very happy at that time so I recently joined together back on track. The swimming pool and spa is filthy. Dirt and mould is everywhere plus there is always something not working in a spa area. The doors to the hot sauna open itself constantly. The gym equipment is sticky and dirty and the smell in the changing rooms is awful too. I would love to start with positive feedback of something but I can’t there is none. I’m about to cancel my membership thanks god I’m on a monthly contract.
Negative experience: They really take advantage for being only them around. I used to be a regular member over 10 years, had problems with a prejudice staff from the restaurant called Izzie over soft play. I was very sad with that and had to cancel my membership, made a formal complaint and now I attend only Saturdays for football, but still around humiliating me in public, it appears it’s to be a normal practice for them humiliating foreigners. The restaurant (most of the food) are cold and horrible, they ignore that also.
Negative experience: I recently visited the Littledown Centre and was greatly disappointed. It was impossible to get through to the staff and the food area was filthy. The entire place was kept to a generally poor standard and it was an unpleasant experience overall. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Positive experience: It's good good place staff there are nice and all the sports facility's are great but the swimming Poole is something else as it's always dirty and never seems to get cleaned.
Negative experience: Did a gym session and had booked a spa session at 9am Sunday 8/01. Both steam rooms out of order(one of them has been out of order for months) Stepped into the saunas and both were cold. According to Frazer, the DM, he had switched the saunas on at 8.30am but did not check if they were actually working. Not the first time this has happened. The situation at bh live Littledown is getting out of hand. The staff must be under paid because it seems as if no one cares. There is no work ethos. I am a full member but I am not getting what I pay for. They also have the nerve to email me and ask if I would recommend a friend? Absolutely Not!! Nothing seems to be functioning well and I would not like to ruin a friendship by recommending, over a very badly run facility. I am sure I am wasting my time over this, nothing will be done, but at least new potential members will have an idea of what they will be facing! If I could I would give zero stars!
Positive experience: Great day swimming with kids, clean pool and not too busy. Changing rooms were pretty clean too. However cafe was really unsanitary, the floor was absolutely covered in squashed food and crumbs and tables were dirty. (Floor pics were before we sat and ate!) Great portion sizes especially for the price and staff were lovely and friendly… shame about the cleanliness.
Negative experience: Price hike of 25% on admission. Just went swimming and prices increased from £4 to £5 for a pensioner's swim. I know there is inflation but at 25 per cent it's a rip off. They want people to keep healthy but this just puts them off. And BH Live is supposed to be a charity as well. Even staff agree that it's excessive.
Negative experience: I have been a member of the BHLive for over 10 years and have never had any issues until recently when they implemented a new parking policy. I received a parking ticket from a private company, Horizon, for overstaying by 20 minutes which was due to my children's activities anyway. I was not aware of the 3 hour stay limit, as this is a new policy at the centre. When I appealed the parking fine, I did not receive any response from Horizon which only has an automated payment system and not at all helpful. On top of that, the management at the Littledown Center has been completely useless in helping their members resolve this issue. As a result, I have had to cancel my family membership and will take my business elsewhere. The sports centre does not deserve my money with their poor customer service and unacceptable parking policy.
Negative experience: The staff here at reception are a joke they are rude if they ever even do answer the phone they just hung up on me after calling for 3 weeks daily as I joined on the Black Friday deal and they have tried taking money and want a direct debit on 15th December even though I’m not ment to pay until 2023 I was told to come in to sort it out? Why should I it’s your mistake you guys are trying to rip me off not the other way around you should be doing all you can to sort your mistake. I would like to make a formal complaint about the lady who hung up on me 5 minutes from when this post was written it’s out of order it’s not how you treat cubstomers and I will be taking it further sort out my membership I don’t want it to be treated like that! I would advise people to stay away from here I have called and emailed for 3 weeks no answer until today
Positive experience: Not fairly priced membership for occasional users. Actually cheaper to pay as you go, which I will be reverting to shortly. Cleanliness always an issue in the spa area. Mould in steam room. No tissue provided so see people blowing nose in the spa showers. Mentioned to managers 6months ago and still no tissue added. Unfortunately I do not know of any alternatives so will continue to use on occasion as i like a sauna from time to time. Shame to see it like this, as been going here for years. Simple things would make my rating higher.
Positive experience: This gym seems to be slowly going downhill over the last couple of years, sadly. More lockers broken, more machines in need of repair; too many youngsters treating it as a meat market. Obnoxious girls with too much make up and wearing little give off an narcissistic vibe, which is unpleasant. Never see any staff on the floor. Usually loads of receptionists, but bizarrely noone seems to answer the phone. Overall, it serves its purpose, and it's cheap; but it all seems so tired. I miss Queen's park. There seems to be an odd conspiratorial silence met with any queries as to when that place may reopen.
Negative experience: It’s just not great. Not clean, still have to do the tedious booking yet they just let way too many people into time slots anyway. The gym is outdated and full of kids, the equipment is always half broken, not enough equipment for the amount of people using it. Atmosphere makes you dread going in there thanks to the lights combined with the horrible smell all over. The swimming pool is not useable if you’re an adult with no kids, the sauna is unsanitary, half of it is broken, again way too many people let in. The price is kind of fair but too much for it being so left behind and eaten by time thanks to them being understaffed. There are about 60 receptionists who can’t help with anything but lacking cleaners, interesting choice of hiring resources. I personally can’t wait for my strict membership lock to finally end. All of this is my opinion of course.
Negative experience: Some Reception staff ignore you, others take forever then don't open the gate to let you in, seem to enjoy being awkward. Lane swim not properly supervised as fast swimmers in the slow lane bumping into you without being told off by lifeguards.
Positive experience: Difficult to rate, didn't use the sport facilities, we visited for a comic con. Staff were friendly, catering inside was good. Toilets were in need of a good deep clean and updating, but they worked. 3 hours free parking. The comic con was packed and very popular. An outside eating area would be lovely if the seating was dried for visitors. The pool was empty which was a suprise. Upon arrival the car park was packed so quite clearly very popular.
Negative experience: The worst experience ever! Booked SPA for a session, found only one working sauna, another one was with smell of urine. Decided go to pool and after come back to sauna, unfortunately sauna was closed and required membership card to open it I couldn't have it as it was my first and the last time visiting these facilities. Then I was on my way back to pool but security told pool is closing and not allowed to use it as no safeguards. Paid £10 for nothing, left it forever! Waisting of money! Bye!
Positive experience: This place needs some more regular cleaning and refurbishment to the facilities inside. The shower facilities for the gym by the end of the day are rather skanky. Also, please clean inside the lockers.
Negative experience: Disappointing! We have been using the facilities at BH Live Active Littledown every Thursday for over a year. I work locally but live in another area. On the rear occasion, I finish work early. I get there earlier to spend my hard-earned money at their cafeteria before joining my mates playing basketball. For a very long time, this wasn't an issue as there were signs stating that the car park was for customers only (which I was). Imagine my surprise when I received a ticket for 85 pounds for overextending my stay. Obviously, they changed the signs some time ago, but as a creature of habit, I didn't notice. The receptionist suggested I should appeal being a paid customer and should have been made aware that I could just inform the receptionist for more extended stays. Not only was this the first time I heard about it - the private company running the car park denied the appeal. Such a shame as we are around ten people spending what would be for others a monthly fee only to use their facilities for a couple of hours a month. Now instead of enjoying a drink after our game, we all have to leave to avoid a fine. Thanks for disappointing Littledown!
