Lifestyles: Opinions
Fantastic experience: It's clean, members & staff are friendly and thought. Facilities are more than adequate.
Negative experience: Got the platinum membership plan and signed up for a 12 month plan, whilst everything is good at the start and you have access to all the facilities, there are issues with customer service and issues with termination of membership at the end of your contract. Terminated my membership 3 months ago, received a confirmation email for termination, and still got charged 2 extra months I was not aware of. Will change this review once and if I have been refunded the money.
Fantastic experience: This is very clean and nice place to swim, gym etc. the stuff are very welcoming and I enjoy my time there very recommended. Lovely place to have fun with kids or by yourself.
Negative experience: Filthy. Poorly managed. Great facilities spoiled by a complete lack of hygiene
Fantastic experience: Amazing place
Positive experience: Neither here nor there, it does the job it's there for
Fantastic experience: Have a membership and use the gym regularly, the staff are lovely and there's great range of gym equipment and classes definitely worth the membership
Positive experience: Staff very helpful and polite but Liverpool city Council hopeless at maintaining the gym .. one of the male changing rooms out of service for over 2 months and we still have to use the very small football changing rooms ... as I said great gym but Council absolutely useless
Negative experience: URGENT attention is needed for the bikes at garston. 2nd class I have turned up and had to move bikes multiple times things not working. This morning it was DANGEROUS ! Things flying off. Someone soon will be injured seriously
Fantastic experience: Christie at Garston centre was so helpful and so informative.
Fantastic experience: Like this leisure centre has good facilities. Plenty of classes. Don't like swim lanes same time as a class, it's disruptive. Could do with more frequent hosing down in changing area. Staff friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities, love that there’s a basketball net there. Very helpful and friendly staff! Great environment.
Fantastic experience: Plenty to do, great swimming pool
Negative experience: Classes are fantastic but changing rooms are grubby and smelly
Fantastic experience: Love it
Negative experience: Changing area very messy with litter on floor. I didn't feel it was very clean today.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant sports centre with all kinds of facilities. There is a full sized pool, a gym, sports halls and keep fit studios. There is also a steam room. Staff are friendly and professional. Always lots of classes in session, for all ages. Children and families are welcome, with special times set aside for swimming and sports clubs.
Positive experience: The pool, tiles, toilets, changing rooms are all grubby and in desperate need for a refurb. The pool timetables online are good but check them on the day you plan to go as they can change. I have been to zumba classes in the past, they are reasonably priced, good, but very busy.
Negative experience: We Had To Wait In A Line So Instead People Were Leaving. We Did Leave But We Went The One Near Morrisons
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience at Garston Lifestyles. The pool is never open thanks to a constant invasion of children who hog the deep end of it, leaving paying adults and children (who don't go to their sWiMmInG LeSsOnS) stranded. As if that's not bad enough, half of the gym equipment is broken, turning workouts into a frustrating game of chance. Save your money and sanity, please steer clear of this chaos.
Fantastic experience: My kids love coming here for the swimming pool. Nice size - the big and small pool are connected which is lovely as we don't have to change rooms for them to practise swimming in the deeper bit.
Negative experience: Reasonably priced went just after 9 am on Saturday changing rooms not very clean an plasters around the pool side an the was like brown grit on the pool floor.
Fantastic experience: Gym was nice and clean. Not very busy at 3pm but started to fill up at 5pm.The cleaner was doing a thorough job in various areas ,so we'll done to her. Also the gym assistant kept herself busy keeping involved with people using the equipment and making sure towels and anti-bac spray was well stocked.
Positive experience: Not bad, or maybe I mean not great, not terrible. I have turned up a few time to only be turned away due to changes in the public swimming timetable not being updated on the council website, but can’t complain, as the entry fee is dirt cheep. You have to be very careful of your timings, especially during half term or summer holidays, as the place can get crammed very quickly. Still, clean, nothing dodgy with the set up, and the staff are always nice.
Negative experience: Me and my friends went swimming on 3rd April 24. Staff were rude and abrupt. They claimed we couldn’t swim with no evidence. We were not allowed to go into the deep end despite multiple young, short children being there. We were then told we could stand in a area were our feet could touch the ground, the lifeguard agreed to this and yet the moment she turned away she went to another Male lifeguard to blow the whistle and scream at us despite prior agreement. This was egregious we will not be coming back. Another one of my friends was sat outside in the cafe when an elderly woman collapsed while they were busy yelling at us for being slightly out of bounds, that woman could have died. Do not recommend- only recommend if you enjoy being humiliated and having your skills questioned within the first 3 seconds when someone looks at you. Would add more but I’m going to eat out.
Negative experience: Swim was bad. Employee with brown pony tail was rude and horrible, for example said someone couldn't swim coz they wore goggles while meanwhile allowing 5 yr olds to swim in the deep end . Slide was fun.
Positive experience: Basic pool but warm and clean.
Fantastic experience: A great place to exercise, especially swimming and gymnastics. For all ages and ages. There is a clean sauna and steam room, suitable for older men and people.
Positive experience: Great place to take the kids! Free swimming during school holidays 3 pools and a slide!friendly, helpful staff. Need to fix the vending machine!!
Fantastic experience: Great place to practice indoor sport. Played badminton with a group of friends and had great games. 1.65 GBP per hour (with no membership) Will definitely come back.
Fantastic experience: I used to go football there with shorn as the coach and I like it until it got canceled but the pool very nice
Fantastic experience: Ladies only swimming Tuesday evening. Love it . Mixed ages . 3 lanes slow medium and fast so which ever suits your swimming ability
Negative experience: Been to swimming this weekend. Changing area stinks. Drain is clogged in men’s toilet. Swimming pool is not clean as you feel dirt on your toes. Jumping, diving & swimming across is not allowed but staff cant be bothered. Steam room is tacky and feels like a horror movie scene. Never gonna get back there.
Positive experience: Been going here for a very long time. Equipment needs updating and it's now like a youth centre for teenagers. Not very well managed. However the reception staff are very welcoming and polite.
Fantastic experience: Bit busy because kids are off, sadly showers aren't working today but great facilities and nice staff, loads of different thing available to suit everyone! Pool and gym clean and tidy, always enjoy coming here
Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms, overcrowded pool. The Mersey is cleaner than the pool here.
Fantastic experience: Great place to go for sports and leisure
Fantastic experience: Had a swimming party at Garston Lifestyles. It was absolutely brilliant! The team there were great. Pool felt really safe - lots of staff members were in and around the pool (and party adults in the pool too as per the required ratios). The children loved the yellow slide and the big blue inflatable! It was a 7th birthday but there were children there from 3-10 and they all loved it. The room for afterwards was all ready for us - chairs and tables in place, and clean. I’ve recommended it to others. Brilliant organisation, thank you team Garston
Negative experience: Horrible place don't join go elswhere
Negative experience: Came to swim on Sunday morning and as I was one of the first visitors, I could tell the pool was not cleaned from the previous day. The pool is absolutely filthy, changing rooms smelled of urine, the pool area was filled with rubbish, hairs and more... The staff seem like don't care at all. It's a real shame
Negative experience: Had to attend Garston Lifestyles for swimming as Wavertree Aquatics was full. Arrived into the changing rooms and met with an awful stench. The place was filthy. Needless to say i jumped into the pool with my goggles on and noticed the pool floor was covered in dirt after which i immediately got out of the pool, showered and got a full refund. I would expect a certain level of hygiene at a public swimming pool, particularly after COVID. This place is a health hazard. There are somethings you cannot unsee (especially at the bottom of the pool)…… i really wish i wasn’t wearing my goggles, but then i most likely would have received some sort of eye infection. I need to burn my clothes and towel.
Positive experience: Great for swimming. Not the most upto date facilities, but they are always clean. It's safe and plenty of staff and lifeguards.
Negative experience: The website was not updated so when I arrived for adult swimming it qas down to one lane due to a children's swimming club. There was a group of men dive bombing into the pool and messing about, which blocked the lane and prevented everyone else from swimming. This was not challenged by staff. The rest if the staff and facilities were great.
Positive experience: Really good stuff, the teachers here are way better than the aquatic. The only down thing is the showers they could do better with updating
Negative experience: Disgusting pool. Took the family a couple of weeks ago for a swim. Lockers rooms filthy and smelt like urine. Pool was visibly dirty and you could feel the dirt under your feet in the pool. My eldest was really sick not long after the visit and it wouldn't surprise me if it was due to the pool. Avoid
Negative experience: If you want to actually swim - forget it! Went on a Sunday at 12pm … big mistake. No lane for swimmers marked off so had to weave in and out of kids who don’t look where they’re going and splash everything in sight. Kids were jumping in at all sides of the pool and the lifeguards couldn’t give a care in the world. Saw numerous kids who couldn’t swim in the deep end struggling and again, nothing was done. 100% get its half term or Sunday and there’ll be kids and usually it isn’t a problem but at least one lane should be marked off for swimmers.
Negative experience: The water is freezing,my poor baby was so cold after 5 minutes in the pool, left after few minutes.shame as it’s a great place
Positive experience: Really nice space, and the reception staff and gym instructors were also really nice.
Fantastic experience: Love it. Best lifestyles I've used.
Positive experience: Needs a complete overhaul very tired, but still value for money and well worth a visit
Positive experience: Boss pool and great for a kids party with inflatables and flume
Negative experience: Always dirty. The changing area for the swimming pool is the dirtiest I have encountered anywhere in the UK. Also there are many swimmers here who enter the warm water without taking a shower so please consider wearing ear plugs to avoid infection.
Fantastic experience: If you like group work outs. Lots of drop in classes.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended for families. Staff are lovely and helpful
Positive experience: Good public swimming pool. Facilities still holding up well albeit needing a bit of TLC in places when look closely. We went as a couple with our 7 month old baby. There are family changing cubicles available which were useful, however had no baby change pull down table in there and so a little bit of balancing on a bench needed when changing the baby. Having read some previous reviews, we were disappointed that on the day we visited the pools were too cold to keep our baby in too long, even we had a little shock when initially getting in. We only managed 15minutes before she started chattering her teeth (gums!) and so we got out quite quickly. A shame as there was a little baby pool, plus shallow pool and a main pool, plus flume and so plenty of facilities. Whilst we would probably not go back until our little one is a little bigger, it is an overall good pool, with decent facilities and no doubt fun for older toddlers / children. Used a lot by schools and so must be good for slightly older children, or we may have just got an unlucky day where the pools were colder! The ‘public swim’ times are a little limited given all of the activities and schools and so worth checking times online before visiting. At the time we went kids swam free and so was £7.70 for 2 adults and baby.
Fantastic experience: Great asset in our community, let's hope the Labour administration keep it and stop reducing services - Councillor Sam Gorst
Positive experience: Family friendly, great prices. The only drawback is the lack of hairdryers.
Fantastic experience: Very nice pool to swim with children
Fantastic experience: Great, private badminton courts. Excellent gym facilities and an amazing pool
Negative experience: Very dirty changing rooms . Some rude staff . And another of broken things. Not impressed.
Negative experience: Horrible place, changing facilities are dirty and stink of urine not to mention dangerous, screws sticking out on a broken door hinge in my changing cubical. Clearly no maintenance or cleaning goes on, Staff just standing around talking to each other, Avoid.
Positive experience: A v. pleasant experience. We took our two grandsons principally for the water slide/tube and they had free entry as Lifestyles are giving that for children in the school holiday. The water was warmer than we had expected and, though crowded, it was great fun. One down-side: the pool building is VERY noisy and so conversation is difficult.
Positive experience: Sad to find only one hairdryer working.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool with a big water slide. Sometimes lifeguards are a bit militant but majority of staff here are friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Best trainers and place to train in Liverpool IMHO get in there
Negative experience: Beautiful pool, but boring for children, everything old and not maintained☹️
Positive experience: Ideal for kids with a slide but not for swimmers.plus the showers are on pool side thay do have mens&womens changing rooms with showers . Hair dryers not much good if you wont blow dry hair properly . The only good thing you don't have to pay for hair dryers
Fantastic experience: Nice pool, slide and facilities for adults and kids
Positive experience: It does what it says. It's a lifestyles gym, swimming pool, classes etc. It's pretty dated and could do with modernisation but like I said does what it says. Familiar with families and gym goers.
Negative experience: Honestly worst experience ever! If you have a young baby or pregnant would not recommend to them. Because the water was that cold ! Their was young children with blue lips . The showers where ice cold . I felt so sly on the young babies shivering. Especially during the school holidays . The cafe was shut not open during school holidays. And the vending machine only cash only no card machine working and only 1 hair dryer working , with 0 plugs for you’re own to bring.
Fantastic experience: Granddaughter's swimming lessons, good fun!
Positive experience: Quite good but staffed by serious jobsworths which is a great pity.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, with plenty of things to use. Friendly and helpful staff.
Positive experience: It was good. It was good swimming round. The bathrooms for one are dirty and that but that's understandable due to loads of people but cleaning should increase. My second problem was the cubical. They are dirty and between uses they should be dried by staff or provide something for the user to clean. I stepped in being very cautious due to water in there but getting dressed I slipped and bashed my head on the wall.
Fantastic experience: Good pool with a smaller one for kids.
Fantastic experience: Daughter had a good time. She liked the slide but it was only open for a short time on and off while we where there.
Fantastic experience: It was boss. Very much for kids and not for adults. Well at least the pool is. Shallow pools that start at nothing. And slides and a nice atmosphere
Positive experience: Pool is ok but place needs a good clean, particularly the changing rooms. Family swim is good value, pool is warm enough and although busy, is not overly crowded
Fantastic experience: Fab place pool was perfect for granddaughters first time
Positive experience: It was a good fun for the kids on the slide and in the pool as well but the changing rooms are quite small. Nice and clean swimming pool, I recommend for everyone.
Positive experience: Lovely pools the showers and changing facilities need updating
Fantastic experience: Great pool, steam room and sauna Good for Lane swimming 07:00 -09:00.
Positive experience: Nice pool to take my little to one, just wish it was a little bit warmer to help them get used to being in the water. Nice section with the kids slide and bubble area. Clean facilities but the cubicles are a little small would be helpful to have some sort if chair to put babies in whilst you got changed yourself
Fantastic experience: Love taking the kids swimming here, never too busy espec early mornings!
Fantastic experience: Had a great time with my family, great for all ages.
Positive experience: Decent enough gym, for a very good price. However, they desperately need a water filling station in the gym.
Fantastic experience: I had a gym induction session with Donna this morning. She was wonderful. She showed me all the equipment and demonstrated how to use it properly and how not to use it. She took me on a tour of the whole leisure centre, provided leaflets with all the information I needed and gave me the confidence to go ahead and join. Onwards and upwards!
Negative experience: Opens at 12.30 For swimming sessions. We get there at 12.30 and told it’s full. DISGUSTING!!!!!
Negative experience: Lovely pool and great for a family weekend swim. But WOW the water is cold. It was hailing outside so I appreciate the heating being on in the changing rooms, but me and my partner instantly started shivering in the pool. Lowering your body into the cold pool was not nice at all. I know when you’re actually swimming you don’t want it to be warm, but surely on a public swim on weekends when you know the families are coming you could heat it up more? I’ll probably pay more and go somewhere else that’s warmer in future.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym, first time I have gone to a lifestyles gym before. During my induction the guy who showed me around was very nice, went into everything in depth, the pool is a very nice area, although there was families there because it was public swim time, it wasn't hectic, could still have a peaceful swim without being interrupted. Lots of equipment at the gym and everyone seemed nice. No complaints at all
Negative experience: Swarmed with unrily kids all the time. Went on different days at various times whilst staying for work can't get a decent swim.
Positive experience: Overall good gym, but despite Pandemic and there own rules, hardly any hand sanitation stations are full, usually empty and lack of people from the public don't bother cleaning down their equipment after use. Other than that, good lifestyles for many services, gym, classes, swimming
Positive experience: Pool was partially cordoned off and great singing for which way swimmers are to go, unfortunately people didn't follow this guide and lifeguards did not intervene so swimmers where bumping into each other.
Fantastic experience: Grate place to swim and the new disabled toilet is a good addition and they got rid of the old and scruffy cafe counter which is good because it was never used
Fantastic experience: love the place! have been going since i was like 8, place still looks the same but that's a good thing as the layout is very nice. the pool starts shallow where kids go, then curves into a huge deeper part, the large pool has a part sectioned off for lane swimmers too. not to mention it has a steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi (have to be wearing a wristband for those tho ) one of the best things recently is the change of the lockers, it used to be a system were you buy a token from reception, put in inside the coin slot, then lock the locker and it would use the token up, meaning if you didn't lock it correctly the first time you would have to waddle your way in shorts back to the front desk while everyone looks at you and buy another token. this has now been replaced with a 20p returnable one, u put 20p in, lock it, and when you open it back up you get your 20p back, meaning you don't have to do the waddle of shame to the reception. great place and i highly recommend it
Fantastic experience: Good place for a swim, staff brilliant
Fantastic experience: Gym and swimming pool, plenty of keep fit classes,Home of Penny Lane Striders running club .
Fantastic experience: Brilliant this pool. Been going to Crosby but this place is loads better. This is now my regular pool for me and my daughter swim
Fantastic experience: Love classes here Member for 4 years.
Fantastic experience: Vast choice of activities. Used the weights room, good mix of machines and free weights. Plenty of aerobic machines, treadmills, rowing machines, variety of bikes, cross trainers etc. Staff always available for advice if needed.
