Negative experience: As an existing member, I could not unsubscribe the sports water option either in web login or in the mobile application which is disappointing. I’d spoken to the customer service team, however no solution yet. I hope the management would implement good IT service to address these tech issues.

Robust cleaning regimes are still in place and we continue to pump in 100% fresh air ventilation, day and night, we clean on a daily basis, including cleaning of all equipment and gym facilities with anti-viral products. We encourage members to bring in a sweat towel to use after they have used a piece of equipment. Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero. We are proud to be the very first Carbon Neutral Gym Chain in the UK. This is just a part of our efforts, for example we are also taking steps to reduce the amount of single use plastics in our vending machines.

Negative experience: The codes never work, never any staff to help, and the "Help" features through the app, website and emails send you in circles just to try and speak to a human. I've sent several emails and every response is so generic bot generated. So many times I've been locked in or locked out. After 5 failed sessions, 3 lack luster response emails and speaking to cleaners on staff who seem to face this issue frequently, I give up with this site and leave you with a less than satisfactory review. Plus these subscription prices are wild.

Negative experience: I wasn't wearing socks, I was wearing sandals, and the employee didn't let me practice. I asked him to allow me to practice because my house is too far away. He said you can't necessarily wear socks. I told him please my house is far away. He said get out of here. You can't practice. Which made me leave and canceled my participation in the gym. In fact, an inappropriate employee and he didn't appreciate me.

Negative experience: Completely unacceptable not to have cleaning sanitisers for the surfaces around the gym. First and last month. I can't reply to your answer, so I will just amend my first commentary, so I can reply to you. You just said "We encourage members to bring in a sweat towel to use after they have used a piece of equipment."... You know what is funny, 95%, not to say 99% of members don't use towels because is not mandatory. Should be but it's not!! and "Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero.". You should say you are focussed in reduce expenses, nothing else. For hours, different members use the same equipment without any clean, and if I want to use the equipment I won't be able to clean it. You are trying to excuse something that has not possible excuse. Even when I asked members of staff, they were surprised with the lack of cleaning material as a company police. Kind regards

Fantastic experience: I have been going for over a year and my girlfriend has been for a few months now. Overall, I found it to be a welcoming and well-equipped facility at an affordable price. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is not too intense. My girlfriend and I never have any issues unless we go at peak times (5-7) which can get very busy for the gym of it’s size. Overall I would recommend it to anyone at whatever stage of their fitness journey!

Fantastic experience: I've been at this gym for a very long time, and there's a good reason for that. There's plenty of equipment across multiple floors so it has to be really busy to feel full, the classes are solid (especially the lunch time ones), the staff are friendly and helpful and it's on my way home from work (I absolutely wouldn't go if it was out of my way). All in all this is a great gym for the money.

By far the best in Bristol surrounding area, loving the upgrades the team are bringing in (Dumbbells going up to 50KG now and the various new cable handels that are very rare to find in other gyms) Team is also super friendly/Helpful and the all around environment is what you want! Recommended to anyone of any gym level and experience!

Gym itself is over three floors with lots of equipment so if it’s busy you can always find something to do.
Negative experience: Can you please stop sending female cleaners to the gents changing/wash room? Where there are no cameras! Extremely inappropriate and an awfully uncomfortable experience for both the female cleaner and male gym members!

They will normally place signage on the doors when they are cleaning the changing rooms and they will knock and announce themselves prior to entering. Positive experience: I have been a member of this gym since it opened several years ago and I really like the Gym Group concept and its branding. This busy, large gym has had its ups and downs in that time but at the moment I think it's a victim of its own success in attracting large numbers of new, young members who don't seem to last very long. There seems to be a big turnover of membership. This leads to several problems. There are often several young people wandering around, looking lost, without a clue what to do; or several young people who swagger around looking like they own the place, but still without a clue how to use a gym. There are some standard gym rules - for example, replacing weights after use, using a sweat towel, not using a phone when you're working out - but these are routinely ignored. Far too many people sit on equipment, spending ages texting or scrolling through TikTok videos, and almost forgetting to do any exercise. As others have pointed out here, it's not a particularly friendly or polite environment. Try to strike up a brief conversation with anyone, and you'll probably be met with a look of horror. Another problem is that the cleaning regime is really not adequate for the sheer volume of people using the gym 24/7. For example, last night at 6pm there was no toilet paper at all in the men's changing room. With a cleaner only scheduled for an early hours visit the next morning, that's poor. The showers can often smell awful and the state of the men's toilets often suggests that many of the clientele weren't properly potty trained as children. On the positive side, quite a few women train here, which means the gym doesn't usually have a macho vibe that some others can have, and I have had several years of decent training here, but I do think I'll soon be heading for new pastures.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym so much, everyone keeps to themselves and that’s what’s good for me personally. I love that whenever I go it’s never busy and I’m happy the staff listen to me when I complain about certain things. So far everything was fixed, however the women’s showers still have a very bad smell, I think it needs a drainage clean or something because it smells really bad only when you turn the shower on it goes after a bit. I’m thinking maybe because the showers aren’t used a lot that the smell is lingering? lovely staff however they always greet me when I come for my gym session.
Positive experience: It's quiet, keep to yourself sort of place. Not the best socially but I prefer that. Busy hours you'll be waiting on everything, but 24/7 is highly convenient for a 2am gym sesh

Positive experience: Pretty decent gym in good location. I love how big it is. Could do with more squat racks, smith machines (with lower or no safety things so you can put the bar lower), deadlift podiums and a space where women can hip thrust safely as I always have to go in the most obscure places and be within 5cm of another machine or person. Maybe keep the first floor as a cardio bit and add other machines to the second floor instead of a corner with even more treadmills/bike machines

Fantastic experience: Me and my friends went to visit this gym because our gym in Avonmeads was shut, 10/10 best gym group gym I have visited will definitely be coming more often!
Positive experience: One of the noticeable drawbacks is the limited availability of heavy dumbbell weights. As someone who performs a 40 kg dumbbell incline press, I found it a bit disappointing that the gym's heaviest dumbbells only go up to 38 kg. This limitation can hinder those who are looking to challenge themselves with heavier weights. Additionally, I encountered issues with certain machines, such as the hamstring machine. It seems to be designed for individuals with smaller shoe sizes (4 or less), which makes it impractical for a wider range of users. This design oversight leads to a restricted range of motion, making it difficult to perform full reps effectively. Another puzzling aspect is the absence of a foam roller. A gym of this caliber should ideally provide essential tools like foam rollers for recovery and self-myofascial release, which is a standard offering in many fitness establishments. The vending machine situation is another area of concern. It's disappointing to find that the vending machine is often 80% empty, with limited supplement options available. Having a well-stocked vending machine is crucial for post-workout nutrition, and this aspect could certainly use some improvement. Moreover, a number of machines appear to be in need of maintenance. Some machines are torn or don't move smoothly during repetitions, which affects the overall workout experience and safety. On a positive note, the gym's layout across three floors is advantageous. During quieter hours, certain floors offer a serene and pleasant atmosphere, making workouts more enjoyable, especially during the night.

The music is unbearable , I forgot my earphones, had to listen to that horrible rap , not even good , not even energetic, just a lazy beat and just one of the worst music choices I have heard , all morning , all songs same, horrible rap music, no wonder 99% of people wear earphones, because your music s . Can't you put best dance hits , eurodance classics, electro, trance, variety of different types of music, it seems to me a no brainer not to play same low quality music all the time

Positive experience: Good location and open 24hrs. Always plenty of space and haven't had an issue getting on any of the cardio mechines. I have found that with treadmill running the temperature in the room is a bit too hot. Especially on busy days it feels like it gets hot very quick. Overall solid value.

Positive experience: Ok gym but lacks space and equipment. Specifically there is only one deadlift podium and only 2 squat racks. Also could fit at least 2/3 more benches in there since they are nearly almost always taken.

Negative experience: Want my 8 quid back tbh, came here since my gym was closed. Just full of terrible matrix kit, hamstring machine is unusable simply by its terrible design. Smith machine has safety’s you can’t move so you can’t lower the bar any lower than above knee height. Worst leg day I’ve ever had, what the hell even is that calve machine I mean unless you have size 2 shoes you ain’t hitting depth and only able to do second half of the rep. Handles on leg extension so thick your hands just slip off them. Remember why I hate matrix kit now, this gym was literally my worst nightmare. Great if you just want to do cardio tho

Negative experience: The gym is tiny, dumbells only go up to 38kg and the cable machines only go up to 34kg... How is an absolute beast like myself meant to live like this. On top of all this ridiculousness, parking is not free of charge... Apperantly it's only free between certain hours in which is not specified anywhere and noone knows the answer to. Unfortunately the 'free parking' is a 20 minute walk away from the actual gym itself which to be honest is a unwanted cardio session in itself. x

Fantastic experience: Love this gym! Had bad experiences at Pure and other gym's in the past but The Gym Group have become my home away from home. Love what Aaron and the team bring to the centre

Negative experience: This gym really needs some work Only 4/5 benches for like 60 people The weights are just eveywhere on the floor, and you dont see any single staff to actually sort this out Definitely needs so much work to do and a few more benches need to be added The way theyve set the equipments has made the gym look small They could benefit a lot from resetting the area

Positive experience: I have been going to TheGym for a while now. I can't complain much, they have most of what's needed. Could do with another power rack for squatting. Just two things for the owner: - would you please consider buying 2 more pairs of heavier kettlebells (24kgs)? - the functional area upstairs could use with pull up bars to be fair, there's only 1 unassisted pull-up rack and 2 assisted ones which are always busy and don't have handles close enough to properly perform chin ups

Fantastic experience: Of all the gyms in Bristol I’ve tried this is probably the best. Being laid out over 3 floors makes it seem quieter and you can always get a good workout in even at busy hours. Clean and good changing/shower facilities too!

Positive experience: The gym has a lot of room it is not crowded and to me it is perfect. It is clean. I am not giving 5* just because the equipment are old but I am more than happy with the gym so highly recommended!!

Positive experience: Pretty good. Friendly staff & 3 floors to play with. Plenty of equipment, even if it's a bit old and worn. Large changing rooms, plenty of showers, although half of the doors don't have working locks. It's nice to have more choice in the vending machine compared to my home gym.

Negative experience: The equipments are old and many of them have torn leather surfaces. The membership cancellation method is very unclear. Users cannot get useful information in the membership management interface. I could not find direct debit information in the membership management or in my own bank account, but I was still charged in the second month. After contacting by email (as it was really difficult to get in touch) they cancelled my membership (immediately) but did not refund the membership fee for the month. I paid for the month but couldn't access it without using it for a day.

Positive experience: gym with cheap membership options good facilities but expect waits for equipment during peak times. They alway have good promo codes on and I like the open air feel you get. Some machines not working but sure they will get fixed soon

Negative experience: Instantly the gym smelt strongly of bio, very stuffy air. The cardio area downstairs is tiny and the machines are old fashioned and confusing to use. Top floor has very limited equipment. Middle floor a lot of machines are rusty, unclean and don't work. A couple of machines were so rusty i couldn't select the weight i wanted. Would highly recommend the new Avonmeads one over this.
