PureGym Leamington Spa - New women's workout space just landed & more kit!

Positive experience: Good facilities and pricing but ket down by cleanliness particularly the toilets showers.

Fantastic experience: Love their members! Outside -2 degrees ! Inside Aircons are ON (cooling)

Negative experience: AVOID THIS GYM - WOMEN ONLY SPACE NOT ACTUALLY JUST FOR WOMEN! NOT AIDED WHEN EMERGENCY OCCURRED!- Poor marketing. attended this gym TWICE. The women’s toilets always stink. I’m more frustrated at the fact the women’s only workout space has male PT’s in there which defeats the whole point in a women’s only workout space. I know you are professionals but that still defeats the point and it made me really uncomfortable. I had a health emergency and not a single person asked if I was okay when I walked past several people crying my eyes out and was blue-lighted in an ambulance for a suspected brain haemorrhage. If a client is happy to have a male PT at your gym, then you should NOT be training in the women’s only workout Space. Now I also attend the pure gym in Northampton and the atmosphere is so different and my PT is so kind and so are all the other professionals there. Even the people who attend the gym are super lovely. You should take a leaf out of their book. This is not what I expected when I attended this gym and I am thoroughly disappointed and have not been back since and I don’t know if I can anymore :(

Positive experience: One of the cleaner PureGyms I’ve been to and the equipment is good and changing rooms are kept to a good hygienic standard! HOWEVER they are marketing the women’s only area as one of their selling points but lots of the equipment is broken and not to mention there’s always male personal trainers in the area - so can’t really call it a ladies only zone?? They should really clamp down on allowing male PTs in the area, particularly if women use this area for religious reasons or trauma informed reasons - very disappointing.

Negative experience: So the gyms are making female gym areas yet most of the women still using the other areas? Split the gym into men : women area gyms then! Equality 2024 and all that

Fantastic experience: A very busy gym, but it is fairly sized to accommodate the crowd. If you prefer someplace quite it is not for you. Very good range of equipments for all level of gym goers. Car parking is adequate but on peak hours you will struggle to find a spot.

Negative experience: Possibly the worst gym I've ever been to, way over crowded and lack of equipment. Go here if your happy just using the treadmill and cross trainer. Oh and it stinks to high heaven due to it being so small and overcrowded.

Fantastic experience: Been there for just a month, huge 2 storey place..lot and lot of equipment. Well maintained, parking, access via pin/app, lockers , paid refreshments available. Studio classes can be pre-booked.

Positive experience: I love the women's area and it's a lot quieter so it's great for when you're learning how to use new equipment or just want a less crowded space. However, there's no cleaning wipes, spray or tissues anywhere in the gym so no one is able to clean down equipment after using it, leaving it sweaty for the next person. The gym could definitely benefit from this, especially as lots of people have already complained about the smell in some areas

Negative experience: Went for a tour/induction to make a decision but no one greeted, wondered around, no staff. A very budget place that caters for mainly teenagers and people that are happy to sweat all over the equipment. Nuffield looks to be of a higher standard and staff that actually stick to introductory bookings.

Negative experience: This gym keeps getting stinkier and the changing rooms dirtier. Uncomfortable.

Fantastic experience: Good and maintained equipments. Nice environment. All important facilities except I never find anyone on reception. If you are first time visitor, book online first. Parking is sufficient but hard to get on Mon,Tue. Some of fitness classes are excellent.

Positive experience: As would expect from a pure gym. One down side, there was no safety bars for the power rack.

Negative experience: The gym and the equipments are nice but there is no cleaning or disinfecting products nor tissue in the whole gym. It would be nice to have at least a cleansing product that someone can use before and after using a machine since some of the machines are left very dirty. Also ladies bathroom always stinks for some reason, better aeration should be done in the whole gym.

Negative experience: Benches are to close to the weights and traffic.no fresh circulation of air in the early morning very stuffy aircon on sometimes but the exhaust is off serving purpose

Negative experience: Very crowded after 5 p.m, most people are just on their phones setting on benches. Shower on Saturdays just cold, entrance gate keeps coming out of service .... Needs some attention overall

Negative experience: Equipment broken all the times, entrance door broken. One of the entrance "capsules" broken too. Hole in the wall. Toilets are dirty and stinky. Avoid this gym at all costs. Edit: Now they are sexist. They added women only area, where is men only area? So you started segregation now? Looks like we are going back in time

Fantastic experience: Lift, Ride, and HIIT are the best classes and should be kept. They’re a good combination of weight and cardio classes to vary workouts. Decent and nice instructors as well

Fantastic experience: I have just rejoined pure gym leamington spa and I have to say it felt like going home . My first two classes were with George and he delivered the classes so well with professionalism but also making the members feel comfortable. I’m loving the new classes they can be adapted to be easier or harder . Well done pure you should be proud of yourselves ❤️

Negative experience: Wheelchair users beware. Despite the fact that my husband is paralysed and therefore cannot use half the gym equipment, he is still expected to pay full price for membership. PureGym, it's a shame that you are unprepared to give people who need the support some help with rehab at a fair price for their ability.

Aiden’s ride and lift classes are incredible- they’re always booked up every week as they’re so fun and popular- aiden is so good at circulating the class and making sure everyone has the right form, as well as making sure everyone has fun! Adam’s spin classes are amazing as well as Amrisha’s LBT classes

Positive experience: About Leamington Spa branch, gym is vibrant, you feel like doing exercise when you enter in. Good machines, clean atmosphere, people tend to share good behaviour with each other. Few drawbacks I could think of is that gym get's overcrowded in peak hours (there is nothing which can be done as they are the best choice in this area), second, few essential machines like leg extension machine are less numbered causing people to wait for their turn. Overall, a good choice.

Negative experience: Visited here. The staff very friendly. Layout and equipment quality spacing and quality isn't as good as Widnes but it's more than fit for purpose. Only 2 and a half hour parking entitlement. Still worth a go. Some equipment such as seats are difficult to move up and down in the upstairs area, force has to be used to move these. Hamstring machine feels like it was designed around another species and is very uncomfortable to use with little to no adjustment. I have adjusted my review for the second time because I'm now terrified I have a parking fine for using the gym.2 stars for the parking system. It's the second time i habe come i. And the toilets have been vandalised with blocked toilet roll. The first being with liquid chalk.

Fantastic experience: Good gym, plenty of equipment and space. Can't understand how anyone would say it ain't a clean gym or the equipment is dated, everything looks new if not some stuff brand new !

Positive experience: There was a whole load of broken glass on the floor just outside the entrance pods and no-one to report this too as they didn't answer the Trainer room door (I know they were in there with a client as I saw them go in)or the buzzer outside, safe to say I didn't extended my 3 day trial membership

Positive experience: A good gym if you can avoid going when the students and youngsters are using it as a hang out and clogging up the equipment and gym. Otherwise good, management need to address people not training and sitting there avoiding others from using the equipment.

Positive experience: Incredible range of equipment across 2 floor. Seems to be busy at all times of afternoon/evening so it makes it a struggle to get a full workout in without waiting

Negative experience: Beautiful gym, let down by poor staffing and management. The facilities are great and kept reasonably clean. It gets very busy at peak hours but nothing anyone can do about that. I often train with my girlfriend and share equipment which helps. Been coming since last summer and about half the staff have vanished, often it's advertised as staffed when it isn't. Even when they are supposedly in, they are unhelpful or in a class when needed, which isn't ideal when reporting things like multiple teenagers getting into a boxing match next to the Smith machines. The "crowd" is also the worst of any gym I have been into, a very high number of teenagers for some reason. I have no objection to younger members per se, but have been sworn at when refusing to give up equipment, my girlfriend shoved into on purpose, and again the poor staffing lets it down. Literally nobody on site (multiple times) to report these issues into at not an unusual time. Not sure if it's because of being close to an estate, but it has MAJOR safety problems the (non existent) management want to look at before something gets out of hand! Nobody to enforce the rules, what is going on here Pure gym.

Positive experience: Great gym..has everything u need. Fair busy in the evening. Would be better if the same group of weirdos wouldnt hang around the changing rooms like it's a youth club every night. Of all places every night of the week for the last 2 months..

Fantastic experience: Great site great team great equipment all you need to come in get the job done and get back.....only a few idiotic posers ...why you would come to Pure with your tripod for your 2.5 viewers who are probs your parents and your gerbil I don't know. You pay £26 a month get over yourself....

Negative experience: The gym is spacious and well equipped, but it gets very busy during peak hours and the crowd is mainly young kids who don't understand basic gym etiquettes. Don't care for the prison style enterance doors either.

Negative experience: Always stupidly hot, no ventilation, aircon very rarely on. 20c outside, even hotter in gym. Not enough cleaning stations, half the sprays are broken. Faulty equipment takes weeks to fix. No easy way to report issues, upstairs studio lights have been broken for over a week.

Positive experience: Time it right or you will be waiting for equipment, but generally not too bad at all.

Negative experience: WAY TOO HOT ALWAYS. Even in the middle of winter it is so hot in there. I wear the coolest possible clothing and still get exhausted so easily because of the heat. Otherwise far too crowded to use except for very early or very late.

Positive experience: Parking is shocking if you can't get a spot in the car park don't bother going in as it's even more crowded inside at times , be of a funky smell from the locker rooms aswell

Fantastic experience: Very good modern gym with all machines one can imagine. Too crowded in the evening.

Fantastic experience: Spacious friendly staff, pretty good air conditioning in warm weather. Plus a large variety of weight machines to work out.

Negative experience: Pros: Cheap membership, open 24/7 Cons: Small changing room (usually a group of younger members hanging around) showers smell and aren't cleaned regularly, usually a scent of body odour everywhere, cleaning stations never topped up.

Negative experience: Shame I can't give a 0 star! these cowboys first tell you it's not busy when it's rammed with rude unhygienic impolite students paying almost 1/3 and then hogging all the machines using snapchat. When you cancel your membership, you get spammed by marketing emails, it's almost an abuse for trusting these clowns with your email and mobile number. Bad business ethics, pure gym should be prosecuted!

Negative experience: Way too oversubscribed so left after 3 months of struggling to get on stuff at peak times.

Negative experience: The showers are really hot - 30 degrees that’s bad for the sensitive skin no option of mixing it with cold water. There is accessible shower that has the option of cold water but the shower door is broken they can’t fix it, they keeping saying it’s going to be fix in two days but that don’t happen - every time something breaks it takes them a month for them to fix it. It’s a good gym but the staff don’t manage it well enough. No gym for over two weeks. No shower no gym.

Negative experience: I am really disappointed at the removal of the cleaning station on the ground floor. Only one paper towel dispenser has been left at the far end by the free weights. It is insufficient for everyone that uses the equipment on that level and shows no consideration for anyone using the cardio equipment. Not to mention can be quite an assault course to grab a paper towel and get back to the other end whilst trying not to disturb, trip over or get hit by people in the middle of their own workouts (the folks using the free weights are by no means in the wrong). I imagine they are just as annoyed by having to watch out for the increased foot traffic. Having asked a few friends who use Pure gyms elsewhere I've found this seems to be a HQ directive which baffles me. Yes Covid is now much less of a concern but surely that should have proven how important cleanliness and hygiene is. Removing right after announcing a price increase too, not a great look. Please rethink this. Its so important to have the ability to clean equipment before and after use. The gym itself is OK, during peak times there are queues for equipment but nothing I wouldn't expect elsewhere and the staff are very helpful. If I was rating just in those my rating would be much higher.

Negative experience: Far Far Far way too overcrowded they need a booking system to limit the amount me and my gf just cancelled our membership after finding it unbearable 150+ people in one of the smallest gyms ive been in!!! even at 1 am the numbers were exceeding 80+ . highly recommend against until something is sorted

Positive experience: Pros: - cheap - open 24/7 - mostly quite clean Cons: - extremely busy, often have to wait for equipment even at off peak times - many broken machines. As I’m writing this over half the cable machines are broken and unusable. - not enough equipment - the men’s locker room smells like death

Negative experience: TLDR: if another gym is a viable option for you, go there instead. The gym itself is fine, the problems are the users and apathetic employees. Blood left in the men's bathroom and people parking in the wrong place despite spaces being available are two of the more niche issues I've encountered in the last week. The equipment is frequently broken and many gym users let the weights slam, particularly on the cable machines. I would suggest that management takes a more hands-on approach and asks offenders to stop using the equipment aggressively. Signage is not enough. Many young teenagers use the gym as a hang out spot which makes it hard to use equipment and creates a hostile environment, considering the swearing and sexist comments I've heard on many occasions. The staffed hours should be during peak times (weekday evenings) to monitor and manage these situations. Cleaning spray in the (men's) bathroom may be a way to encourage individuals to clean up after themselves when the cleaners are not onsite.

Fantastic experience: What a pleasant gym experience. I've not met many of the staff as I train mostly after hours when the gym is unstaffed, which bring me to the biggest plus of the gym, it is open 24 hours a day. The gym is clean, equipment is very well maintained and the bathrooms offer lockers, stall and showers. Everything you may need. There are three squat racks, a few power racks, all the machines you may need if you're into that sort of thing and plenty of free weights. It's great for all types of weight lifting and cardio. The price is also extremely competitive and at the times I frequent the gym, although always busy, there is plenty of equipment to go around. I cannot recommend Puregym Leamington Spa enough.

Negative experience: Dirty toilets with foul smell never been cleaned regularly. Water filling stations are filthy with slow output. Update (03/12/2022): The toilets are still filthy with mould around the wash basin, highly foul smell. No actions have been taken. Pointless!!

Negative experience: It's usually overcrowded in the evenings. There is not enough accessories for the machines. People running around looking for an accessories or waiting by the machine until someone's finish. I was reporting it few times within last month but nobody seems to care.

Positive experience: Very warm, equipment out of order and very busy with people on phones rather than working out whilst sat on equipment.

Negative experience: It’s cheap for a reason. No staff to be seen most of the time and when you do they’re not doing anything useful. Full of kids that have no idea what they’re doing. If you want classes (and can get in) then join as it’s cheap but this isn’t a gym. Pretty messy each time I’ve been too. Sorry but won’t be back.

Positive experience: Too busy most of the time but good equipment. Lacks a few more bench press/ squat racks

Negative experience: Equipment very old, in dire need for updated new equipment. The process of the car park is a joke and painful as well. Staff are very friendly and all ways say hello. Leamington Spa pure gym is the most out dated pure gym todate.

Positive experience: Decent but found it rather small and limited variety.

Negative experience: Update: It's now nearly unusable with so many new members, even at 10pm it's rammed. Surely there's a limit on the number of members to ensure we can actually use the gym? I'm now looking to switch somewhere else as it's become a joke. And regarding their suggestion below that we give feedback to the staff... I've done that on a number of occasions over the years to no avail so what's the point in suggesting that if there staff aren't empowered to do anything?

Negative experience: Tiny, overcrowded even at 6am, not enough free weight kit for everyone. Avoid.

Negative experience: Imagine having long term health conditions and no longer being able to train and your personal trainer (Kasey Birtley at the Leamington Spa Branch ) callously and dismissively tells you "...times are difficult for many reasons" . Further adding "its a business"; proceeds to ignore me and retain monies for 4 out of 5 PT sessions I paid for. Kasey was offered the opportunity to carry out the sessions and has since disengaged and just kept my money- which is THEFT! I emailed Alex Sidwell (L'spa Puregyms then Manager). Stating that its unfair and unlawful - ZERO response. PUREGYM leamington spa DO NOT CARE ABOUT VISIBLE OR INVISIBLE disabilities- Please prove me otherwise. POOR, POOR POOR attitudes that are indicative of greed (in the case of the Kasey Birtley), dismissiveness, ZERO empathy, no real concern about ethics or person centred health. A MAJOR disappointment and disgrace. I am guessing times must be difficult for Kasey as he is clasping these funds for dear life- its pitiful! This is unacceptable that Puregym should allow a PT to conduct their business in an illegal manner. This really reflects the values of Puregym. The below response from Pure Gym is merely done for optics and is performative. They have not looked into this matter at all. There is a new branch manager, who also refuses to look into this matter and is equally as ineffectual as the former Manager.

Fantastic experience: Love this gym. Friendly and helpful staff and it's open 24/7 so you can go at a time to suit you, or if like me your not overly confident at the gym you can go at quiet times too. Would reccomend this gym to anyone

Fantastic experience: It's a brilliant gym. The only thing is you need to go went its not busy as it can get full quickly in busy times. The staff are there if you need them. It look professional and clean. It's got everything you need to work out apart from a pool which isn't a bad thing in my book.
