Our comment from FitFit UK about The Pods:
Welcome to The Pods, a premier sports and leisure center located in Scunthorpe, United Kingdom, renowned for its friendly atmosphere and excellent facilities. Our staff are frequently praised for their helpfulness and courtesy, making every visit enjoyable for families and individuals alike.
Our amenities include:
- A spacious swimming pool with dedicated lanes for serious swimmers and a separate area for families
- A well-equipped gym offering various classes and training opportunities
- A lovely café with a variety of snacks and refreshments
- Accessible facilities, ensuring convenience for all visitors
Many guests appreciate the clean and well-maintained environment, although we acknowledge that some areas, such as the changing rooms, have received feedback for requiring more frequent attention. We are committed to upholding high cleanliness standards and addressing all concerns promptly.
Families love the swimming lessons for children, delivered by qualified staff in a supportive setting. However, we've noted requests for improved organization during swim sessions and clearer communication regarding different activities.
Despite a few challenges, such as occasional overcrowding and limited parking, our visitors enjoy a range of activities tailored to all abilities. With a welcoming community feel, The Pods is an excellent choice for an active day out. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

The Pods: Opinions
Positive experience: Went in to use after Parkrun. Sometimes, I fancy a coffee and a piece of cake. The staff in the cafe are very nice. This morning, I find the cake is no longer on display. I was told this is no longer allowed. Also, the new policy is that I'm asked if I would rather have a piece of fruit. So, fellow Park runners when you run 5k as fast as possible, according to questionable people. A piece of cake isn't a deserved treat
Hi Stuart, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, and first of all, well done on completing your parkrun, 5k definitely deserves a treat! We're so sorry for the experience you had on your last visit. It sounds like there may have been some miscommunication, as there's no policy against displaying or serving cake. Rest assured, coffee and cake are very much welcome here, and we wholeheartedly agree that they're well eared after a great run! We're so glad to hear you think our café staff are lovely, they really are a fantastic team, and we'll be sure to pass along your kind words. This matter has been raised with management and is being investigated. If there's anything more you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at [email protected]. We hope you'll pop by again soon to enjoy that much deserved coffee and cake!
Fantastic experience: Visited the cafe and they were fab, very accommodating for a toddler and myself, who is allergic to gluten and milk.
Hi Santina, Thank you for the wonderful review, it's fantastic to hear you and your toddler felt so well taken care of at our café. We're glad our team could accommodate your needs and make your visit enjoyable. If you have a moment, we'd love for you to share your feedback in our café survey https://tinyurl.com/NLActive It's a great way to help us continue improving. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Fantastic experience: Helping me to learn to walk after becoming a LAKA in May 2024

Fantastic experience: Very clean place only had a coffee but was very nice .
Positive experience: The staff are nice but the general cleanliness isn't great

Fantastic experience: A great swimming pool. Very wide, so there is plenty of space in the adults only area + lanes. Very bright too + clean. A great changing area and decent showers.
Fantastic experience: This place is the business!!
Positive experience: Great facilities but the water area outside smells and needs a good clean up
Positive experience: Pods are great for swimming, my wife goes regular and she prefers it to Brigg and others. Only thing is it's a shame the gym wasn't the best. It's okay for basic stuff but I wish it was better. I drop the wife off and head to the gym elsewhere and then come pick her up. It would be easier to goto the pods gym while she's swimming. I also donate Blood here too and it's a place that's well set out in the sports hall for giving Blood.
Fantastic experience: Went swimming there for first time. Pool staff lovely. Immaculately clean in all areas. Not busy at 9.30 in morning so pleasent swim. Will go again
Fantastic experience: Great place to swim. The lifeguards here are so kind and caring and are there if theres any problems to help. It can get crowded sometimes but that just shows what a good place it is! The lifeguards are amazing and i cant say there is anything bad to share about the pods. I really enjoy swimming here every time i come and ive been hundreds of times before i even posted this review and i woll continue to swim here!
Fantastic experience: Pleasant Staff. Nice Surroundings
Positive experience: Friendly courteous staff. Good prices
Fantastic experience: It was my first visit ever today and I really enjoyed it, (Sunday, 7/4/24, 8am) very clean, friendly, helpful staff.
Positive experience: Everything gets booked up so fast. I end up going to brigg due to better swimming times. Gym busy always
Positive experience: Not up to usual UK standard of cleanliness, but good for a swim in bad weather.
Negative experience: Changing rooms & floors need cleaning more regular. There is enough staff around to have someone regularly hosing the floors down & cleaning. The gutter areas thick with dust, empty containers on the floor areas in the showers. Does not give you much assurance that the pool water quality is healthy.
Fantastic experience: Don't let the outside appearance put you off. Once you get past the rubbish filled ponds and smashed windows it's nice inside.i used it for swimming and could not really find fault other than 1 shower being out of order
Positive experience: Reasonable gym and lesuire centre Looking a bit worn round the edges
Positive experience: Great swimming pool for lengths, the changing rooms are lovely and clean, the toilets are a bit smelly you can smell them when you are swimming
Negative experience: The rules in place prevent very many families from swimming. Single parent with two or more children with one of them under 4! Two parents with three or more children with one of them under 4. Yet allowing unaccompanied children of eight years old is acceptable, no mention of swimming ability! There is no mention of armband exceptions or children who are able to swim. The woman on reception insisted that one adult with two children even with armbands was not acceptable and insisted that this is a national policy. No it isn't! The political push to encourage family swimming clearly fell on def ears in North Lincolnshire. I'm not surprised Policy below A responsible adult aged 17 and over must accompany every child under the age of four-years-old. A responsible adult aged 17 and over must accompany children aged between four and seven years inclusive, with no more than two children to every adult. Children aged eight and over can swim unaccompanied.
Positive experience: Just popped in but food wasn't on that day
Positive experience: Good facilities and pool
Positive experience: I can't really say anything about the facilities as I only go here to give blood! There are swimming lessons for children and there are special times available in the pool for families and lanes are left for more "serious" swimmers. There are gyms and the blood donor session is in the netball court. I think they probably have "keep fit" classes etc in there too.
Positive experience: Good facilities but very busy, hard to get into swim or use equipment at peak times. Could do with being bigger
Positive experience: Great place to swim, it's not clear from the timetable that although lane swimming was on 90% of the pool was in use for lessons luckily they all finished within 10 mins of my arrival and a 3rd lane was added an people could spread out. Friendly Staff, clear changing rooms nice atmosphere I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.
Fantastic experience: Good location, nice facilities and staff Nice little cafe
Fantastic experience: Love it so luxurious and cheap at the same time
Positive experience: Lovely facility, helpful staff. The Pilates and Yoga classes are far more frequent than in Baysgarth but quality of teaching is disappointing by comparison
Positive experience: Just back from a casual swim session (summer days) with the granddaughter who enjoyed every minute..(kids go free as its summer hols)
Fantastic experience: Good gym, can get busy around 7pm
Fantastic experience: Im new to this area & I must say I absolutely love this gym. I used to go to PureGym when living in the Midlands the whole atmosphere was depressing. I hated going but needed to lose weight. This gym is fantastic, I love that they have many different classes and people are really friendly and talkative in this town. The receptionist is absolutely lovely, i wish I got her name, she's so calm and helpful.
What lovely feedback, thanks so much! Welcome to the area and we hope you're very happy here and continue to use and enjoy The Pods.
Positive experience: We love coming to swim at the Pods. They need to fix some keys on the lockers though because they've been broken for a while.
Thank you for your feedback Joshua. I'll make sure that the issue re. the locker keys is passed on to the team!
Positive experience: Only took grandaughter for her swimming lesson but it had been cancelled through I'll health of staff
Fantastic experience: Bit warm and busy at times but an amazing facility for the public.
Fantastic experience: A beautiful designed building with lots to offer. Open to the general public. A must visit for any person and families as well.Lots of classes for beginners and a cafe with prices to suit all. Run by the Council with high hygiene ruies .
Negative experience: Desperate need of attention looks like it's Falling apart,
Negative experience: Bit of a dump for a newish building, roof leaks near the reception area when it rains.
Fantastic experience: It's people that give a place it's 'soul', and here is no exception, a great team and that includes everyone. On top of that, the facilities are a credit and appear well run. As I continue my recovery further, I'm sure The Pods will become pivotal in that.
Positive experience: Realy nice place to spend a time with family or kids and fiends .Only one thing makes me worried is Hair dryer is realy bad condition and not enough, count on visitors
Fantastic experience: A lovely leisure centre. All the staff are very polite and knowable and very helpful. There have lots of different activities for all ages and for all abilities. It's disable friendly easy access for wheelchair and motability scooter.
Fantastic experience: I went swimming with my 5 year old daughter she loved it , all ages swimming there just make sure you check the times on the website, there's other activities to do at the pods just make sure of times, good parking available
Positive experience: Excellent for children to learn to swim with qualified staff. Lovely and clean, classes not too big.
Fantastic experience: Nice restaurant and concept of pods. Thanks to Mohan for your assistance and service
Fantastic experience: I go to the Active Circuit lovely friendly staff and very caring.
Negative experience: Straight away we were greeted by a very rude and unprofessional receptionist. For a customer facing role she really is in the wrong job. Plenty of floats for the children but the water was very cold and the changing rooms smelt strongly of urine.
Positive experience: Went to give blood. So didn't use the pod
Negative experience: The children's swimming lessons are a waste of time and money, the teachers are barely paying attention to what the kids are doing and giving them very little instructions at all, its more of a fun slash session for 30 mins which is fine if that what your looking for but id actually like my daughter to learn how to swim and that clearly is not going to happen in these lessons if thats what you can call them!
Positive experience: A good local authority sports centre.
Fantastic experience: The daughter has swimming lessons at North Lincs Active, and progressing well. Facilities are clean. Staff friendly. SEND timetable for people who require quieter and calmer settings on a Sunday afternoon.
Negative experience: Worse place to take membership. Poor management. Very unfriendly reception staff(not all of them). To be honest the supporting staffs are kind and helping. Worse gym ever. No adequet equipment. Being awful to waite for others to finish, while you get warm down. Absolutely
Positive experience: Actually it's gone a bit down hill, damaged equipment, changing room always looks like it needs a clean. I visit through gritted teeth when it's the only option but greatly prefer ancholme
Positive experience: Clean and tidy. Decent pool area and helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Jude, I must say without any doubt that your restaurant is so amazing, and a perfect place for good delicacies.
Fantastic experience: You've got amazing delicacies and beautiful outstanding restaurant.jude your restaurant (pods) is indeed a fantastic place for one to spend weekend with friends
Fantastic experience: Extremely adored by its interior and cuisine, great team, guys!
Fantastic experience: Delicious, friendly and sophisticated… All dishes were stunningly tasty and were served fresh. A very professional team around manager Ilona, who treated us wonderfully.
Negative experience: Absolute kaos !!! Very poorly managed pool. Loads of people all falling out with one another. People in the wrong lanes. People not swimming in the correct rotation of the lanes. Absolute. Madness Way too much hassle I've been advised to try either brigg or riddings the pods is a joke
Fantastic experience: Nice cafe, still haven't used gym yet though.
Positive experience: Very nice cafè, with friendly & helpful staff. Drink was lovely & they seem to have plenty of activities & games going on. The Archery for the disabled group, I've been to, is an excellent group.
Fantastic experience: Great super large pool(25 meters and eight lanes), with a small pool for the little ones. Pity the schedule of sessions not easy to follow on website!
Fantastic experience: Love to come here and leave happy staff are friendly and helpful
Positive experience: Took 5yr grandson for one of his intensive swimming lessons ,tutors were great ,really helping him overcome his fear of water great facilities and lovely staff
Negative experience: Could be better would be an understatement, swim sessions are not long enough for what you pay, timetables are at best confusing, and as a parent of 2 small children the kids training pool is almost NEVER open so they are forced into the bigger deeper pool with rampaging teenagers who seem completely oblivious of scared young kids and pretty much do as they please as the lifeguards do nothing about it on a more positive note when you can actually get a swim in , the water is generally clean and not too cold not really family friendly though
Negative experience: Loved pods but now I'm not si sure, We got there at 12:10, got into the pool, at the 12:45 two female life guards approached me and my dad and told us we had to leave because they wanted to sort out the pool ready for the next session even though casual swim finished at 1, but we got out and noticed that they had asked no one else to get out , I spoke to the Manager and she apologised and told us we shouldn't have been told to leave din e the session ended at one and not quarter to. I'm still quite annoyed over it but I also find that it's very unfair
Fantastic experience: Came for a wheelchair basketball event. Always find the place welcoming
Fantastic experience: Such a amazing place to visit..delicious foods and nice service ..great work! Will come back again
Negative experience: Cafe closed.. coffee machine out of cups... gypsies everywhere.. its really good
Positive experience: Think swimming sessions need to be more clearer went back there 3 times today just to get a poxy 40minutes swim, not the staffs fault but more clarity needs
Fantastic experience: Food was spectacular!! Nestor ( our server ) was very friendly and did a great job! Will come back again!
Fantastic experience: Daughter has swimming lessons here and really enjoys it.
Fantastic experience: I love the place. You have good Waiteress. I liked the restaurant services ,was served by carol a friend from dubai
Negative experience: Scruffy needs a deep clean. Broken lockers wrist bands broken
Fantastic experience: All good when the car park isn't full !!@
Positive experience: Its a good place for activities. Only get membership if you are using all facilities regularly, or else its better to pay according to the sessions you are using.
Fantastic experience: Lovely designed building housing the local swimming pool, has a fully equipped Gym and also has a Nursery for the under 5’s The garden’s are well kept and there’s lots of trees around the park. It’s known as Central Park area too in Scunthorpe and has a fountain working most days. It has water closets near to the Children’s play area which has safety fences around and it’s very well maintained. There’s a car park also. Lots of nice pathways around the area and can walk your dogs if there on a lead.
Positive experience: Car Park is too small, the pool is over crowded in the day due to school lessons. I understand that kids have to learn to swim, but it left no room for lanes, 5 to 6 people sharing 1 lane at different abilities, and different speeds definitely cause people to leave. The dryers only had cold air, and Cafe was also closed.
Fantastic experience: Very good courts (pretty warm in there though) and accessible facilities
Positive experience: Great cafe. Pool etc always clean and tidy
Fantastic experience: Park nest to it fabulous for walks but staff are friendly l wouldn't no recamened the pods for excersise classes you get these bossy customer telling you what to do and management won't respond when you complain about the instructors bad attitude towards the situation But it's generally a nice place
Negative experience: We visited today for my mums birthday, I was so looking forward to it as the grounds look stunning. We walked in and were excited as we were seated in the pod. However after that initial excitement it all went down hill. The service was poor, we asked to order and was told we can’t order food until we order a drink? The food was warm not hot and generally the way we were spoken to was poor. I had put a note to say that we wanted a cake to blow out a candle for my mums birthday. When trying to order ice cream simple for my son they had ran out?! Overall the poor service cancelled out the beauty of the venue for me.
Fantastic experience: Blood donation went really well thanks!
Fantastic experience: Excellent outstanding service. Food was amazing. A great social space not overly crowded. And value for money .Sadly at the moment is very difficult to park due to travelers taking over the parking area. Now that barriers have been installed is much better. Lots of people attending great atmosphere. Had another visit different things on the menu which was nice. Some days all you want is a salad bowl lush xxx
Positive experience: If you have swimming lessons there they won't let you get to higher groups. But everything else is amazing.
Fantastic experience: Started a 12w/k gym workout to day stacey my tutor showed me the ropes was really nice.
Positive experience: Went for the casual swim with a disability swimmer.. Almost half the pool marked off for 3 sets of lane swimming, then the space for casual swimmers, then opposite side to lanes was another lane for staff training, made it so limiting for the disabled swimmer who really enjoys the water and going into the deep end, but needs to use the edge of the pool for breaks, which lanes at each side meant was impossible. Feel like it could've been organised better for swimmers of all abilities who want to swim for fun but may need to rest.
Positive experience: Needs some slides to be more entertaining for kids, just a rectangle. Changing rooms and other facilities OK
Positive experience: very good facilities such as badminton, rockclimbing and swimming. how ever i have to deduct a star because i came here with my girlfriend and she made fun of me because i cant swim
Fantastic experience: Great pool, gym is well equipped, plenty of facilities for a variety of classes. Would recommend joining, especially if you work for the local council.
Fantastic experience: A very odd building & layout. But the service & facilities are amazing!
Negative experience: There is no sauna since over year now, first they have excuse for david19 then they need to refurbish the place but unfortunetly they only painted walls in lounge and now they waiting with hope for another lockdown. Pathetic managment
Fantastic experience: Went in to give blood and was pleased to see lots of other donors there too. Plenty of empty chairs though so Please get yourselves along to give blood! Especially our BAME community.
Fantastic experience: Nice friendly staff. Tidy. Recommended
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff. Clean floors. Good place to go swimming.
Fantastic experience: Nice place to have a swim with the family. Just a shame that there is no slide and wave machine like the old leisure centre.
Fantastic experience: Excellent first experience. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Used the website to book and it is so easy to do. Well done to everyone.
Positive experience: Great food just a shame there was no bar to have a drink before or after the meal
Fantastic experience: So fab to be swimming again, it's been a long time since I swam there. Still clean and lovely to be able to exercise again.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and helpful staff, well organised with Covid restrictions. Getting through to the right area by phone through North Lincs Council a nightmare. Found it easier to call in rather than use the on-line service.
Negative experience: Staff are very rude, unhelpful and dismissive. Attended as a disabled visitor and even though I had queued continued to help other visiting guests as they arrived. This wasn't just one member of staff was 3 in the area and non resolved my enquiry.
