Positive experience: A mostly good & large gymnasium with lots of free parking. Early evenings are usually busy. The pilates teacher is really good. Evening yoga teacher is bit strange, she keeps asking people how they're feeling while in middle of a pose and she can't use microphone to speak clearly. Reception staff have never greeted me, they don’t come over as friendly. WARNING: if you book for a class & forget to turn up, they charge you the non-member price for the class (even if you pay top-whack membership fee already).

Negative experience: The staff are great but the place is falling apart. Broken locks, missing toilet doors, more broken than working lockers, grimey and often smelling of sewage

Negative experience: Pool is OK but changing rooms are very dated.Most of the lockers are either broken; keys missing. Showers are hit& miss need calibrating.Members pay for a certain standard which at present they are not getting. Yellow hazard tapes around the pool area have been in place for many months! !? ??

Positive experience: Cheapest in the area, gym not very clean and has nothing to wipe the equipment, reception staff never say “hello” when you speak to them but it has all you need to keep fit, opening hours aren’t great at the weekend

Positive experience: Visited Today for a General Swim, nice pleasant clean pool, nice water tempreture, not too strong chlorine smell, found the changing rooms clean, a cpl of broken lockers if that, will be visiting again next week

Positive experience: Gym facilities are great with variety and air conditioning. Only downside is the state of the changing rooms/toilets. In serious need of a refit or deep clean.

Positive experience: First time visit. Pool is nice, not too busy and the temperature is suprisingly warm. Unfortunately the changing rooms are in a terrible state. Alot of the lockers are broken or don't function correctly. I tried 4 showers before giving up, one sounded like the pipes were going to burst and the others either dribbled or sprayed everywhere other than in the shower and only stayed on for a couple of seconds at a time. It's a shame this could be a really good pool.

Fantastic experience: Swimming was not to busy between 8:45-9:30

Negative experience: Member here. The gym is nice and does the job. The only thing is that not all machines connect for activity tracking, so we have to remember which ones actually work. Look is good. Staff are helpful and friendly. All changing facilities are in major need of a referb! All showers are falling apart, doors missing, broken lockers, etc. This is why it gets 2 stars! It really seems like management doesn't care about this as it's been bad for ages now.

Fantastic experience: We came here for swimming instead of Chelmsford and so glad we did. Much quieter pool is warmer, car parking free, hair drying free, a much more chilled time. Definitely be coming here instead of Riverside

Negative experience: Pool is great with retractable floor, however one of the disabled showers is out of order and has been for over FIVE MONTHS. Why is it taking so long to fix/replace a door ?

Positive experience: Sadly, it isn’t possible to enjoy a game of table tennis if there is a robust game of squash taking place in the court next door. Noise levels are excruciating and normal conversations are impossible. Staff understand problem but it needs to be addressed if they value their inclusive approach to exercise and leisure for all.

Negative experience: What an embarrassment to Witham. I've had a few issues with booking and being overcharged. Poorly managed to say the least..... The manager thought it wise to pass the buck to a young female employee because she was the one who booked it . The place is dirty, cold and in need of a major overhaul already. Cold changing rooms, cold showers, both disabled toilets are out of order and only two cubicles for the men to use. Good luck trying to find a big locker that isn't broken!

Fantastic experience: Best leisure centre local to me, so clean and modern much preferred it to braintree Halstead or Chelmsford. The sinking floor is brilliant.

Positive experience: Swimming pools are good but thats about it. Changing rooms need updating. There was no hot water for showers and If you want to find a locker with a key that also has an intact strap youll be lucky to find one.. Cafe is non existent and is just vending machines with little seating.

Fantastic experience: Pool and poolside nice and warm and desk gents very polite. Only issue is the air con in the changing room is broken and the changing room is freezing but apart from that, very nice and pleasant place to go.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service!! Normally liked it here and enjoyed the facilities! The staff seem to have no customer service skills whatsoever, I was double charged last month, rang up and a manager told me he had raised it and was issuing me a refund, fast forward 17 days and it still hasn’t been refunded! Went in today, and nothing has even been raised on the system! Will be cancelling my membership after this month, and ringing up until they can refund me my £83!! Plus the girl at the reception desk made us stand there for 40 minutes whilst she was in and out trying to find her manager! Waste of a journey to be honest. A real shame.

Negative experience: Just cancelled membership because I've had enough. Half the swimming lanes would give double the swimming space, how this isn't common sense is beyond me. Cleaning the sauna and steam room once in a while wouldn't go a miss. Sitting on slime and inhaling the spores borne from that is not what anyone wants from a steam room or sauna. Offering some sort of cleaning facilities (blue roll and anti-bac) in the gym would allow for a cleaner environment as gym go-ers could clean the equipment before or after use. Male changing rooms upstairs always stink, it's frankly disgusting. Lockers for the pool are mostly broken. Massive shame. If these things were fixed I'd happily pay more for a membership because the facilities are there, just extremely poorly managed. I'd be open to coming back and I'm sure many others would be if it wasn't so dirty. Let me know when/if improvements are made.

Fantastic experience: I Literally love the place, only thing is timing its only untill 10pm and the saddest part is only till 6pm on weekends.

Positive experience: The facilities are clean and seem well maintained.

Negative experience: Why can you never get through on the phone. You leave a message and no one calls you back. The website doesn’t answer my question and you shouldn’t have to make a journey to get answers. Please answer your phone or reply to messages

Negative experience: I use the swimming pool occasionally as I live nearby, it's not too bad at all but what I can't stand is the booking system, it always gives me problems. I usually try the website first but recently this has been giving errors, I find the app works to book a session but its very unclear what you are booking. On my last visit I managed to accidently book the children's pool, I asked for a refund on reception but was told I had to email Fusion gyms, after 3 emails and 2 facebook messages I have given up on getting my money back, shame really as its otherwise ok for a public pool.

Fantastic experience: Always a joy visiting this centre. Really nice facilities and great management team with friendly staff. Only attend here for organised sports events so wouldn’t be able to comment on what it’s like doing your regular gym visits here.

Positive experience: Used the swimming pool here which was great, however lots of the lockers do not have keys or the key fobs are broken so you cannot wear them.

Negative experience: Fusion leisure and the website is appalling for signing up and bookings. Avoid.

Negative experience: Waste of time as you can’t even go there other than to swim play squash or swim in the most boring pool in the world, need to get some basketball nets up and some football goals for the local children to come in and burn some energy off rather than playing on iPads, waste of time and money place in the opinion of the local people I’ve spoken to

Fantastic experience: Very convenient Leisure center for the people in Witham. With family membership you have the option to use all the facilities including Gym, Squash court, swimming pool.. they offer swimming classes for kids and adults. parking is free for 2 hours and can be extended for another 2 hours once you register your number plate..

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed watching our granddaughter at a swimming lesson. Also her pool party with inflatables. Very well organised friendly staff on hand with all the very excited children. Followed by a party in a room upstairs. Very impressed with this venue and it's facilities. Well worth a visit.

Negative experience: My husband has membership of this gym under the GP referral scheme. A year ago he suffered 4 cardiac arrests after a heart attack,a stroke, sepsis,lung abscesses and was on life support twice but miraculously against all the odds survived. After attending cardiac rehabilitation he was given discounted membership in the above criteria. He has had to work ridiculously hard to regain fitness so you can imagine my disgust when today his membership card was declined. He had to speak to a 'team member ' who decreed him to fit to be on the GP referral scheme. How can someone whose only qualification is in mindless stupidity be allowed to make these decisions. He came home extremely distressed which is not good for his health because of these moronic oiks intervention. He continues to be monitored regularly by cardiologists and ICU and will have to take copius amounts of medication for the rest of his life. Thanks for nothing.

Fantastic experience: I left a moany review over a year ago (see below) but thought I'd leave another one since the refurbishment - it's always easier to have a moan! 5 stars now (instead of 3). The refurb is great, much more equipment in the gym, more squat racks and machines. Shower heads have been replaced in the gym showers, and cleaning is more regular. There is often a staff member in the gym if you need advice, and reception are really helpful when you have problems, particularly Veronica, who always seems to know what is going on. I think it offers great value for money with the squash courts (leagues have just been set up), swimming, classes, table tennis and opening at 6am. It can get very busy though, particularly 5.7.30pm weekdays and Monday evening, but if you are flexible in when you visit, you can find a time where it is much quieter. It would also be great to have a second set of dumbbells, but space is limited. Maybe just a smaller set of the most common ones, 14-24kg? Thanks WLC/Fusion for listening to feedback and improving the facilities! ____________________________________ WLC is great, but with a bit of effort from management, could be amazing. Pros: Lots of facilities (swim, gym, squash, sauna, steam room), classes etc all in 1 place Good location with lots of parking I'm my experience, helpful staff Good online booking system Cons: The leisure centre are aware of issues, but they remain unresolved on a long term basis (machines broken over a year, frankly disgusting changing rooms, broken cubicles) Small swimming lanes Nowhere in men's changing room to use a sink, e.g. for shaving Classes not friendly for work, e.g. a 6am class would be amazing Rarely any staff in gym to answer questions, check form and spot with weights The biggest issue for me is the inadequate changing rooms. I would like to train early before work, but I do not want to shower there - frustrating. I'm not sure if it's because it is a charity run gym, rather than a business like Pure Gym or Bannatynes, but with more effort and impetus this place could be awesome, and would satisfy all needs.

Positive experience: Nice pool. Not keen on the skinny lanes...definitely need to be wider. Toilets are shabby. I take my own antibacterial too. Swim times need to be earlier than 19.45. 18.30 slot weekly would be good.

Positive experience: I visit here every week. The pool is nice and clean but the changing rooms and toilets are always smelly, like a drain smell. Some of the cubicles are not cleaned properly, dust and dirt just above head height has been there for weeks.

Negative experience: Very rude staff. I've just called Witham leisure centre, swimming pool and fitness and the lady hang up the phone, noisily just because I dared to ask her the second question. She was visibly unhappy and bothered by the phone call. Why are you offering this service if you are not happy to provide it?

Fantastic experience: Thank you everyone at witham swimming. From the lady that called me back to the guy on reception today and yesterday and the life Guards on duty. My husband had a stroke and now disabled, has his left arm and leg don’t move like they should. Going swimming today was such a big thing for me for the first time but everyone made it so chilled and helpful it was good fun, we are both looking forward too coming back again ….. thank you again all

Positive experience: Sometimes too busy.

Fantastic experience: This is a fantastic place for any exercise activity . Fully equipped gym and swimming pool with helpful staff . One thing that stands out is the Merlin Pool . That is , a small pool with a floor that raises and lowers according to the depth required . This means that wheelchair users and clients with disabilities , can comfortably feel the sensation of the water without being hoisted or feeling anxious . Which builds confidence , and can only be a good thing . One thing worth mentioning ;plenty of parking , make sure you register your car's registration at the screen at the reception desk. They have number plate recognition . No one wants a ticket. That aside , a great place to visit .

Negative experience: How long does it take to repair a machine, so far it’s over 6 months a counting, also dirty/ smelly showers for weeks and cold water - someone sort this out please, membership being paid in full service not been delivered!!!!

Positive experience: Enjoyed my game of squash here. The courts could be better to improve the player experience. A net is used at the top level - which could trap a squash ball that gets up there. Other facilities in the venue like Swimming seemed very popular. Good to know that the centre has plans to introduce table-tennis - which would be a great experience.

Positive experience: The fusion centre has a nice pool, as well as a shallower one which is great for teaching children. It has a decently equipped gym, and a couple of dance studios as well as a couple of squash courts. All in all a nice centre, with a good amount of parking and a friendly team of staff.

Negative experience: Seriously grimey... Dirty nappy left poolside. I reported it to staff one evening and it was still there 24 hours later.

Positive experience: Visited on 28th July, young man behind desk very nice polite and helpful. The pool was lovely and warm. Only thing to complain about is we only got 45 mins in the pool, they were late letting us in but still made us get out on time

Fantastic experience: Take my little one here for swimming lessons. Pool is great and has one of those floors that they can adjust the levels. Changing rooms always tidy. Car park always has spaces. Staff always helpful. For me all this makes nice stress free visit and even better little man now swimming really well. Had tried other learner lessons but he definitely progressed better here. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: We took our two young boys to Witham Leisure Centre and found it to be a most pleasant place. It was excellently set out; the staff were very friendly and helpful; and the pool was excellent - much warmer than the Colchester one!!

Negative experience: Most of my childhood was spent at the Bramston Sports Centre so when they knocked it down and rebuilt Witham Leisure Centre with not even half of the facilities that Bramston had, I was really disappointed. No diving boards, no flume, no big sports halls, no trampolines, no basketball, no tennis, no rock climbing, no gymnastics, no bar, no slushy machine, no imagination!! It's boring and they could have made something really amazing!!!

Positive experience: Its annoying you have to use swipe cards for chuldrens swimming lessons, invariably they dont work .

Fantastic experience: Staff are fantastic, attractive and great at their job. It feels very comfortable going in. You feel welcome and not under any pressure. A gym can do weird things to your head, I never feel that from this place. They have a class for just about every kind of exercise you can think of. Their parking is fantastic. All in all it's a brilliant, beautiful place.
