Negative experience: Rubbish. Petty and incompetent.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly helpful staff. Nice community vibe. The swimming programme works well for us and the booking system is very easy to use, with timely updates to notify us of any alterations to the timetable.

Positive experience: I’m not a permanent member, I used the gym for 2 weeks whilst on holiday. It had most things I needed. Just one squat rack and a dead lift platform. A good selection of machines and cable machines. There was also a smith machine which I didn’t use and a selection of free weights. I like to work out first thing (gym opens 6am during the week) and didn’t have any issues accessing what I needed, but I don’t know how busy it gets later in the day. The gym is separated into 3 different rooms, cardio machine wise there were treadmills, rowing machines, 2 Wattbikes and 1 stair master type machine. Staff friendly, regular clientele friendly, decent parking. Overall a decent gym that was more than adequate for what I needed to keep things ticking over on holiday.

Negative experience: While accessing my Grandaughters confidence and ability to swim ( very confident swimmer and able to access the deep end with the school ) the very unfriendly guy decided that she was not capable, ok I get his concerns, but his attitude and deliverance was very unprofessional and rude he saw she was crying and offered no reassurance resulting in her confidence being shattered and even in the shallow end she was not swimming as she was watching him all the time wondering if she was going to be told off, I was a spectator and she has been in several pools while on holidays with no issues, I totally understand safety issues especially in a pool environment, but deliverance is key to being polite and professional.

Negative experience: Tried to find information about activities here in what is now apparently a nationally managed group called 'Better' which would actually more appropriately be called "Worse". The Web Site is unusable and unworkable. You cannot actually speak to anyone at the centre. When telephoning you are put through to a non-local disinterested Customer Service agent who said they would send an email link to book the activities I was interested in. The link arrived but came up with "No activities available" and I was in fact just back the unworkable abysmal web site. I will obviously have to go there in person to see if anyone can help there.

Positive experience: A good leisure center that offers a wide range of activities. I've primarily joined for the gym and whilst it has some variety, it does lack multiple types of the same equipment meaning your chances of getting on a particular one are reduced. I've just come from Lifestyle Fitness which is half the price yet has 3x more equipment, hence the 4 star

Positive experience: Kids had a great time but the pool desperately needs updated its been the same for over 40 years the rest of the leisure centre has had an upgrade but pool needs one now

Negative experience: Been waiting for months for them to repair a table tennis table so we can get back to playing regularly instead of sitting out for two thirds of the session.

Positive experience: In for swimming

Fantastic experience: As always very good. Was quiet in the gym today. One niggle is people sitting on the equipment playing with their phones totally oblivious to other people wanting to use said equipment.Still hasn't changed.

Positive experience: Steep to pay £10 for a guest pass, when a membership costs £30. Gym is very basic but gets the job done if you are visiting Cockermouth.

Negative experience: So me and my friend were going to a ten p swim. Some guy not sure what he was called told me mid way the swim to get out as I had apparently dived it not sure if sitting on edge of the pool and going head first in is classed as a dive. After that I swam away as you would normally do but according to him i swam away. next thing I know he’s telling me to get out and get changed at this point I was confused on what I had done I didn’t even get a warning I was just told to get out which I don’t think is very fair so I wouldn’t recommend

Positive experience: Had to pay £10 for the hour which is far to much money, then £3.85 I think it was for the hour swim. Cheaper if you become a full member.The equipment in the gym is great, lots of free weights, weight machines, treadmills old and newer, a ski egg which is nice to see, different bikes, I think a couple of them were watt bikes, recumbent bikes, 3 to 4 different areas with different machinery in them. They do have a sports hall with about 3 or 4 badminton courts. The showers are a let down, they smell a bit, some air freshener wouldn't go amiss and its 3 or 4 showers in a row, so if you want some privacy you've got no chance, plus you can't have a proper shower after your swim as you can only rinse yourself off due to them being open and mixed, female and male. Would have rated it higher, but due to the showers and the price for one hour in the gym.

Negative experience: Shocking. We arrived 5 minutes late due to traffic and my child was refused entry to the swimming lesson that we've paid for. No real explanation other than once the belts are on you can't go in? The guy telling me this didn't seem overly sympathetic either. My 6 year old child, at Christmas, is losing out on life saving skills because someone can't use discretion and common sense. Roll on Maryport swimming baths opening in the near future.

Negative experience: Refused entry. Arrived 5 minutes before kids lesson, kids change and ready to swimming. Lady refused several kids entry because the compute wouldn't allow them to check in. Absolutely bizarre scenario, parents furious and zero customer service.

Positive experience: Run down and not so clean..but convenient for a short swim

Positive experience: Good pool and gym. Staff are friendly, but changing rooms are a little dirty though.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted. Booked a session and was 10 minutes late. Was turned away at the door. Bearing in mind each person is allocated 50 minutes to work out anyway so it should've mattered since it was already booked. And I have paid my membership. On the previous occasion I was late and they let me deduct my 10 mins of my training time and let me in and they were really kind. I would suggest the two women on today go on a course on how to not judge people by the way they look and speak and learn how to be more human further more on my last training session the place was full of swimmers lined up outside with NO social distancing in place but I guess that didn't matter as daddy drives an expensive car and didn't have an accent. Shame on You.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for many years and have always had an enjoyable experience there. Friendly and helpful staff, good facilities and plenty of scope to develop your fitness. Taken me a decade to get around to writing this review, I've been busy!!

Positive experience: Took my son's swimming here, it is fine but dated. It looks like the place I used to go swimming with school in the 90's. Workington leisure centre is same price and a lot more modern. Only pro, it us generally quieter at cockermouth.

Positive experience: Went in today to use the gym facilities as visiting family in the area. Staff were really friendly and happy to help. Everything's packed in to the gym but there's everything you need for a decent workout. Good range of cardio machines, resistance machines and free weights. Changing room was basic but functional; lockers cost a pound you get back and the communal shower was warm. I didn't do any classes but wandering through to the gym I saw a couple running which seemed to be well run. I will use again when back in the area.

Positive experience: The walking football was very enjoyable and the staff were excellent. The lost mark is for the ludicrous temperature in the Sports Hall. A lone fan blew in the corner of it which was useful for cooling off next to but the part glazed roof let the sun's rays overheat the building. Otherwise great.

Positive experience: Weights room small with not much selection. If you find 6 or more people in there at once it over crowded. Fitness area has good machines but layout is terrible. i.e. treadmill facing brick wall. They have same mundane music playing over sound system plus on the tv screens have things like Homes Under The Hammer, Cooking Programmes and Holiday Shows...hardly inspirational while training. The pool is good but finding a quiet time is hard. You get the This Is My Lane brigade in trying to take over like the own the place. With bit of imagination this could be a great facility but at moment not the best.

Negative experience: Good sized rooms for classes but gym area is split into 2 rooms bad layout. Not enough space for floor exercises. Armband system is a hassle.
