Negative experience: NO SOAP IN MENS TOILETS FOR OVER 3 WEEKS SORT IT OUT!!!! Im response: what are you on about? Does a robot handle your review complaints? Did you even see what I put? THERES NO SOAP TO WASH UR HANDS. gym
Hi ST, thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols, including the introduction of cleaning stations, to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Positive experience: It's a bit small (so equipment limited and no spin classes), gets too busy for it's size and there are not enough classes. I prefer Aintree.
Negative experience: Such a stingy gym anytime something breaks they just leave it broken for months, only one of the doors to come in works and has been like that for weeks now so you have to que to get in and the gym is literally freezing in winter
Hi Amin, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about specific pieces of equipment in your gym, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. Thanks, PureGym

Negative experience: Small gym - not a lot of equipment (for example, only one recumbent bike for the entire gym!). The atmosphere is the worst of all the pure gyms I’ve ever been to. I only come here semi regularly and I feel extremely judged by other members.

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with the level of hygiene in this gym, not to mention the rude and unhelpful staff. I will not be returning.

Negative experience: I go to kirkby a few times a morning but stopped going due to the fact that there's a gang of Eastern Europeans just hanging around the weight benches doing nothing not even working out, myself an a few others watched some poor guy being ignored as he had asked them if he could use the weight bench.... all they do is just sit there using their phones... not being funny but there's going to be a riot if there doing underhanded things with there phones ( there is rumours going around about it)....

Fantastic experience: Good place to workout. Staff are friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. Seeing the other reviews regarding cleaning i can honestly say i always see the staff out cleaning and putting weights away. Can get busy but thats expected at certain times but i always check my app as it has live numbers on how busy the gym is. Overall really good experience.

Negative experience: unfortunate in the conditions that this gym is in. It's a total disaster. This urinal has been blocked for two days and they still haven't cleaned it and the showers are disgusting to step on, you can contract any infection since it is a public and poorly maintained place.

Negative experience: Filthy. No drinking water for over a month. Non existent manager. Mop buckets with dirty water left in. Absolutely stinks, doubt it’s been cleaned since Christmas. *returned to Kirkby gym September 2024, still filthy. Stinks. I’d booked onto a class with Sydney and he announced 5mins after it was due to start that there wasn’t enough people so cancelled it! Kirkby gym is a disgrace. Where’s the manager? Ladies toilets no loo roll. Absolute filth. Place hasn’t had a proper hoover in months.

Positive experience: I like this gym it's got everything I need. I would give 5 stars but they play the music so loud that you can't listen to your own music on earphones I go to Southport as well and it's not like that there.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love coming to this gym here pretty much every day and we absolutely love it such a lovely atmosphere and every single staff member always so so kind always made to feel more on a friend level which is great, never been able to stick to a gym in the past but the staff have you wanting to return again and again really boosting you all the time, Classes are run so amazingly always walk out feeling very accomplished so happy I joined this gym!

Fantastic experience: Joined pure gym in October last year and love it there ! All the instructors make you feel super welcome and at ease especially if your anxious about going. The classes are great there especially morning ones through the week with lilly and weekend ones with Tobias he really pushes you to make you realise what you can actually achieve. Negative experience: In response of PureGym asking me to talk with the manager, may the person who read my review, didn’t see the part where I said I tried to talk with the person in charge for the gym, but she was to busy with some casual chat to hear me. And more, it is not my job rise tickets to the manager to solve your problems, unless you want to hire me as a manager, I’m pretty sure I am even over qualified for this position, and your gym would be a 10 stars and not a 4.3 or 5 stars gym. ———————>At Kirkby, it’s the third week in a row that my wife needs to use the toilet and it is still dirty and has no toilet paper I've been training at Kirkby since it's closer to my job, and also at Aintree where it’s closer to my home, at Aintree the equipments seems old or broken. While training at Aintree, doing Arnold presses, the bench suddenly tilted, and I nearly injured my arm. Upon inspection, I found that the bench's rear leg was crooked. As for Kirkby, training there is nearly impossible due to the constant loud music. When classes are in session, we're bombarded with two different tracks blaring simultaneously. The noise level is so high that I can't even hold a conversation with my workout partners. Additionally, the gym was without a water fountain for two weeks. Anyone needing water had to resort to using the sink in the toilet. My wife has also noted that the toilets frequently lack paper, and when I brought this up with the manager, she asked me to wait, as she was occupied with a casual conversation. This situation at both gyms is quite frustrating and makes for a poor training environment.

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the low level of quality at Pure Gym Kirkby. I have been on the gym today and the Pure Gym is extremely dirty. One female toilet extremely dirty is in use, the other one is out of order. The drinking water is out of order, the leg press is out of order, the floors are really dirty and disgusting. In general, the lady’s changing room is very poor. Which doesn’t make possible her a shower in there. Staffs on the front desk keeps using her mobile phone all the time. It may be her job but doesn’t care if the weights are out in the wrong place or if someone needs help. The gym is not friendly and we dont feel welcomed.

Positive experience: It's a good GYM, but... Lots of equipment missing! A gym of this size should have at least what GYM Group offers. My previous experience at GYM Group was much better. More and complete equipment, with 2, 3 pieces for the same exercise. Much better. This unit still needs a lot of improvement. Not to mention that embarrassing bioimpedance test. I hope that soon they will put more equipment into this unit.

Negative experience: Probably the worst gym I've ever been to, it's far too small, they have 2 areas which are wasted. When I first entered I thought I was at a small independent owned gym and not a national chain, I've been in bigger hotel gyms! There's about 10 treadmills, 4 or 5 Cross trainers, a few bikes and a few stair climbers. 1 fixed flat bench, 1 incline and 1 decline, 1 smiths machine. Some of the classes have 25 people which is far too many esp for the likes of the pump class! Instructors are late for alot of classes and sometimes have no idea what they're doing. How is there only 1 floor in this gym when the majority of pure gyms have 2 floors! There's space for the additional floor and there's plenty of space NEXT Door with 2 empty units. Pure gym should be ashamed of Kirkby gym, it's not upto standard. The only people who give this gym a 4/5 star rating are none gym people and maybe just starting off I've given this gym 1 star as its not upto standard of other pure gyms

Negative experience: Absolutely heaving. Smallest puregym I've been in. Some grotty scruff blew his nose on the exercise floor after using painfully bad form on deadlifts.

Fantastic experience: Good facilities and friendly environment. Only gripe are people not re-racking & cleaning down the equipment but appreciate the staff can only do so much.

Negative experience: Very small compared to other puregyms ! Not really that many benches! Layout is strange...smashing out leg press extensions out in the reception area. Feel like this was a rushed development...shame cause you could have had a second floor similar to all the 24hr gyms nearby.

Please be aware due to the situation of our gyms it isn't always possible to extend the site itself, however, we are always looking to expand and improve our facilities where possible, so please keep an eye out for updates.
