Hamble Sports Complex

Fantastic experience: Great gym facilities, all equipment needed is available. Easy to park and access the facility. Been using the gym for about 8 months now and have had no issues.

Negative experience: Popped in for a coffee from the takeaway van parked by the main reception. Had an amazing coffee and a lovely chocolate shortcake. Unfortunately the sweetness soon turned bitterness when I received a parking fine for £100. Apparently with the new all singing all dancing (but poorly publicised) ANPR parking system, it now costs £100 to wait the 12 minutes it takes to get your flat white. Everyone Active are definitely on a winner with this one!

Negative experience: Antiquated changing rooms, terrible customer service and they fine you now for parking without informing you. Terrible

Negative experience: You really need to do something with that parking system, it's ridiculous that they are prosecuting me to pay 200£ for parking 1 hour twice from September, The parking is dark, I couldn't even see any advice. It's a disgusting behaviour from this mafia. Please do something to protect your users!!

Negative experience: Delivered a cake to a function and received a £60 parking fine. I was there for 20 mins.

Negative experience: Massive car park, almost always full. Been coming here for 3 months to use the showers after work, as I live in my van. NEVER had a hot shower. Constantly broken. Place is run down. Find somewhere else.

Positive experience: Nice complex good swimming pool

Positive experience: Facilities are clean and tidy. A snack wagon is available at the front entrance. Parking is plentiful.

Negative experience: Not good experience- they don’t answer the phone for ages, there is never parking on site as there are a lots of children sport activities during the week, staff not really helpful. Not worth the money . Picture of holding a phone line for over 9 minutes to be cut off.

Negative experience: Filthy and showers were closed for the pool. It's the school pool so should of expected it. I expect great for kids.

Positive experience: The center is good, but the parking spaces are way too tight. I often have to squeeze out of my car because there isn't enough space to open the doors.

Fantastic experience: Visited Hamble Sports Complex this morning and had a workout in their newly refurbished gym, actually quite a bit of the premises has been completely refurbished, and the complex looks really good. The gym area has been nicely fitted out with plenty of modern exercise equipment, including running machines, cross trainers, and a really nice selection of weight lifting equipment for legs shoulders biceps and triceps etc etc. Well worth a visit.

Negative experience: Been going to this gym and sports centre for a number of months now and had numerous issues and problems. From my card never scanning, class instructors not turning up and being wrongly charged weekly for no-show fees for classes. Getting a response via their customer services is nearly impossible and their phone is nearly always just left to ring continuously. Whilst the facilities are average I would not recommend paying the membership fees for such awful service and customer relations.

Negative experience: Friends of mine who use this facility feel apathy and frustration with everything. Their common complaints are that the staff are the culprits here. They are uninterested, rude and dismissive of many members . The staff rarely have a presence in the gym itself, which is a health and safety issue. The changing rooms are dirty and some toilets do not work. The main complaint is that a lot of exercise classes are overbooked unles you want a virtual class. THERE ARE A LOT OF UNHAPPY USERS HERE.

Positive experience: I think the make over has been successful and the gym and classes are really great; however the most popular classes are always fully booked so getting a space is a lottery and a regular class can not be assured. I believe there should be more classes especially Pilates.

Negative experience: There are lots of activities for all the age groups.I don't think its a good quality and the facilities are rather poor ie toilets, changing areas and the parking bays are so narrow! I still attend it as its the only place in the proximity in Hamble.

Positive experience: At weekends when lots of classes are on the cafe area is rarely staffed, seating is uncomfortable and it generally has an unclean feel. The toilets need attention also. Every week people put money in the vending machine and it gets stuck or presents a problem. The chap from the reception desk has to resolve it by physically shaking it or unlocking it to retrieve the purchase. This has been happening for as long as I can remember. FIX THE DAMN MACHINE!!!

Negative experience: So first off, I am reviewing as gym user. I can’t speak for the swimming/leisure centre parts of the complex but I have been using the gym around 5 times a week for the last 3 years. This is quite possibly the worst gym I have ever been to. And if it was not for the fact that the area is extremely sparse for other options, I would absolutely not go. I travel the extra to go to Holly Hill or The Gym in Thornhill when I have the time. This gym for some reason seems riddled with classes of school children during the day times. They have a teacher with them but usually the teacher just chats with the PT it sits on their laptop and doesn’t discourage the children from getting in the way of paying customers. You also have to share the car park with school drop off/pick up. Meaning, if you wish to go between 8am-9:30pm or 2:30pm-4pm you will have to battle your way out of the car park and sit in 30 minutes of traffic to get out. It’s absolutely ridiculous that a school takes priority over PAYING customers. The equipment is dirty and old. And - this is important - the recent “refurbishment” that took place actually wasn’t a refurbishment. They have taken the OLD EQUIPMENT from Holly Hill and placed it in Hamble. And how do I know this? Because I RECOGNISE THE DAMAGE on the “new” kit. The left stairmaster, for example, I have spent hours using at Holly Hill. I know what cracks and scuffs and ingrained marks it had at Holly Hill. It’s the same stairmaster. The “new” treadmills are already playing up, as they did at Holly Hill, and I’m always seeing PTs crouched behind them unplugging them from the mains and trying to reset them. They are missing the basics (if you hunt high and low you may be lucky enough to find 3 clips for the cable machines. 3 clips between 6 cables? Do the math.). Why are you charging nearly £40 a month for users to get given dirty and damaged second hand kit? Why are you charging users to share with classes of school children and why are the children doing their gym classes in a public gym? Why did you think putting a wall with fake grass on it would stop us from noticing how sad this place is?

Negative experience: The showers aren't suitable for children under 6 years, the mothers we get wet when we shower our children, there isn't hair dryer, we have to bring it of home, there is only one electric oulet so we must queue to dry the Hair to our children, I don't happy with it

Positive experience: Good place for sports and child swimming lessons.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff. Gym small but not crowded. Enough equipment for everyone. Absolutely lovely place for everyone.
