Our comment from FitFit UK about Allander Leisure Centre:
Allander Leisure Centre in Glasgow offers fantastic facilities and a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for families and fitness enthusiasts alike. Visitors have praised the hydrotherapy pool, describing it as an amazing experience, and numerous users have highlighted the fabulous staff who create a strong sense of community. The centre features a large swimming pool and a special toddler pool, appreciated for its bath-like temperature and calming environment.
While many enjoy the variety of classes and the quality of equipment, some concerns have been raised regarding crowds during peak hours, especially with school children occupying spaces in the gym and swim areas. There have also been reports of issues concerning the café service and cleanliness in certain areas. However, the overall sentiment remains positive, with many visitors expressing their joy about the centre's modern facilities and helpful staff.
In summary, Allander Leisure Centre is highly recommended for its excellent facilities, community feel, and dedicated staff, despite some operational challenges.

Allander Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: New pitches are sound. No heating, so 5s in winter is like outside so wrap up
Fantastic experience: Have used the hydrotherapy a couple of times and it has been an amazing experience. Absolutely recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: Fabulous facilities and super warm and welcoming staff. A real feeling of community where everyone is welcomed and encouraged regardless of age or ability. We feel really lucky to have this great facility on our doorstep!
Fantastic experience: Fantastic, amazing. Great staff, great equipment. So much better than the expensive run down gym near the waterworks (nuffield) where I was a member for 20 years.
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff...Great facility.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Fantastic experience: Took my toddler to the baby pool twice now because it's the best pool in the area, separate room to the main pool, bath temperature and the lights are low with calming music. Very relaxing.
Fantastic experience: Amazing swimming pool and gym absolutely fab!!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing customer service and lovely staff are always happy to help you with anything
Negative experience: Random swimming club take up all of pool.
Negative experience: STAY AWAY FROM THE CAFE!!! I ordered a double espresso, cappuccino and 2 ham and cheese panini. I was shocked at my half latte mug full of bitter coffee paired with a trail of used coffee grounds that was being passed off as a double espresso. Things only got worse when the cappuccino was delivered. A truly underwhelming cappuccino with burnt milk in a latte mug. To add to the story of disappointment our panini arrived, one cheese and ham. This was adequate. But the other was cheese and onion. Not what we ordered. Overall an upsetting experience.
Fantastic experience: Love the spa. Amazing. Highly recommend
Negative experience: I have a membership as I work for EDC but I am disappointed with the Allander it is far too crowded at the pool, constant swimming lessons and there doesn’t seem to be much room for people to go for a swim. I took my son and two pals last night and the life guard older woman was constantly calling them out for things. I get water is dangerous and safety is key but this was over the top and before we came out the pool she was as so abrupt with my son and threatened to throw them out of the pool. They are only 7 years old having fun I was so disappointed. I am considering cancelling my membership it’s a bit of a riot in all honesty!
Fantastic experience: Lovely modern building, better than the leisuredrome
Negative experience: Paid £12.70 for myself, husband and 2 grandchildren today - a Family ticket. One half of the toddler pool was sectioned off for swimming lessons which I knew about from phoning the Allander yesterday. Shortly after being in the toddler pool, the older grandson (7 years) went into the big pool with my husband only to be told when getting out that they couldn't go back into the toddler pool as there were too many people in it and using more than one of the pools was not allowed! Why on earth is there not some form of monitoring the number of bodies in the pool when paying ? If we had known the boys weren't allowed to use both pools we certainly would not have visited. We did all get back in after a few people had left but it really spoiled our visit. In addition, why on earth is there no signage for the toilets? I had to ask someone in the changing rooms to show me where they were, then later I also had to show a lady where they were as the toilets outwith the changing area were being cleaned. All in all, not a good outing. We won't be back as would rather pay the same money at the playdrome in Clydebank where kids can freely use all pools.
Fantastic experience: Only stopped here to charge my car, but went in to use the loo. Pools looked beautiful, cafe was great and I ended up using the cafe. Had a lovely chat with the girl serving at the cafe. Hope I can stop here again
Fantastic experience: I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the 2 ladies in the reception at Allander Leisure for their exceptional customer service and kindness. Our family recently had a stressful experience when our son's favorite sinkie toy , went missing during a visit to your pool. Despite the chaos, your staff went above and beyond to help us locate the toy, and even announced over the loudspeaker to alert others in case it was found. Their kind and attentive approach really made a big difference in our day. We appreciate your efforts to create a welcoming and helpful environment for all your patrons, and we will definitely be back to enjoy the pool again soon. Thanks all the staff again and again
Positive experience: Decent plain pools, smaller children's pool for babies, toddlers and smaller kid's and non swimmers, smaller pool much warmer than big pool which was rather chilly
Fantastic experience: Allander Resource Centre, built on the corner of the Allander Leisure Centre, to replace Kelvinbank Centre in Kirkintilloch, which had started to show its age. Used by both Allander and Outlook services, both daily and some evenings. Providing care in the community of East Dumbarton for people with 'Special Needs'. Excellent facility, built, taking into consideration the needs of the members using its services.
Fantastic experience: Great place for classes swimming pool ..steam and sauna .
Fantastic experience: It's an amazing facility but Google has the opening times wrong!
Negative experience: Wasn't there. No, or one, as I wasn't there.
Fantastic experience: Perfectly rebuilt... Has every type of facility for all ages and shapes... Very welcoming...
Fantastic experience:
Negative experience: Every day after 3 pm, my visits to Allander Leisure Centre have become increasingly frustrating. The gym is consistently crowded with underage kids who are more focused on their phones than working out, making it nearly impossible to use the equipment effectively. Moreover, the sauna, intended to be a dry space, is consistently wet due to neglect, creating an unpleasant and unhygienic atmosphere. The lack of improvement in these issues has significantly impacted my overall experience, and I find it challenging to enjoy a quality workout or relaxation session at the facility. The steam roo. Is good but sometimes people shouting at each other instead of be there and relax and enjoy or at least speak quality!!
Negative experience: Avoid getting the membership because it's always crowded, especially after school hours when many students come just to hang out. The equipment stays busy for hours, and the hot sauna is often too humid. The owner seems more interested in making money than caring for the members.
Fantastic experience: Family friendly, clean, fresh and welcoming.
Fantastic experience: Great place for the family. The sensory pool is amazing, if you're able to book it in advance.
Fantastic experience: An excellent brand new and very welcoming modern facility with the latest equipment. The new Allander Centre was worth the wait!
Fantastic experience: The new Allander Leisure Centre is really fantastic. Having been to the old one several times, the new one just blows it out of the water. It is significantly better than most of the private leisure centres in the area too. The entire complex is clean and well thought out, with staff being pleasant and knowledgeable. Overall a great council leisure centre.
Negative experience: Workers are rude Judge teenagers
Fantastic experience: Good equipment and helpful staff.
Negative experience: Looking run down and dirty inside in certain places. Car park flooding in the same spots all the time recently in the heavy rain nothing done or said about it, Certain staff members on the front desk are not particularly pleasant or welcoming. I much Prefer the Allander although abit out the way much cleaner, staff are always smiling and helpful
Fantastic experience: All the best equipment, swimming pool ,sauna etc etc . Great place open from 6.30am mon Fri. 8 at weekend.
Fantastic experience: Very nice
Fantastic experience: Was there as a spectator seats were comfortable a view was excellent
Positive experience: Good equipment, somewhat over crowded though, due to very young kids being allowed in, groups are formed and equipment apart from treadmills are difficult to get to as is with most budget gyms at peak times
Fantastic experience: Awesome experience. Facility has whell chair access. Reasonable size swimming pool. Badminton courts and many more things. Very Lage parking space
Positive experience: Of the EDLC that are available this is by far the best one, it's often a bit dirty in the swimming area due to so many weans unattended and people just leave plastic water bottles everywhere, but on the whole it's a nice place to spend a few hours exercising and relaxing, prices in the cafe are extortionate, they could be subsidised for members
Fantastic experience: Great time, wonderful staff
Positive experience: Steam rom best I've been in
Fantastic experience: New leisure centre is very good
Positive experience: Really good leisure centre
Positive experience: Modern, clean and reasonable pricing
Positive experience: I would give this lovely facility 5 stars if it were not for the fact that the temperature in the low impact studio is far too cool for the type of classes held there.
Positive experience: Delivered cable to contractor working on site.Busy place but popular with locals..
Fantastic experience: Great new facility.
Fantastic experience: Beautiful new facility and staff is always friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Positive experience: Great new building but carparking spaces are nowhere near enough. Hope there are more when it's finished.
Fantastic experience: Looks lovely now its all been done up and pools are great baby pool for small kids and big pool for the actual swimmers and even the hydro pool looks great
Fantastic experience: Out of the box brand new quality facilities. Really appreciated@
Fantastic experience: I want to thank the professional staff at the new Allander sports centre. The facilities are great. I have been attending the new well equipped gym since April 23, enjoying visiting a couple of times a week and getting fit.
Fantastic experience: Great new facilities, we enjoyed the swimming, steam room and sauna.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful bright, airy building, well- designed changing area and large pool. Helpful staff.
Fantastic experience: Swimming pool is big and both young and small kids can learn swimming safely. New building facility with lots of parking. Kids classes for badminton
Fantastic experience: Brand new facility with great pool
Fantastic experience: Great new swimming pool
Negative experience: Amazing new place. Though the health suit beds don't work. Hopefully will get resolved soon. Also the showers have not worked a couple of times due to issue with water supply (or so we were told). Neverminding the slight issue this place is fantastic. Update: It was fantastic...now I feels it's dirty within the wet changing room. The health suite water is not working, this should have been notified before heading un as potentially could be considered a H&S issue as meaning those in sauna and steamroom have no way to keep hydrated. Asked and was told closest would be in the gym. You would think they could have kept ontop of each of these aspects I have raised.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant leisure centre. Everything is first class and a lovely place to visit. Would recommend.
Fantastic experience: Recently joined EDLC and tried the Leisuredrome, not great. Tried Kirkintilloch and again, not great. Went to The Allander and it is a lovely gym. With it being a new facility in transition from the old one the parking is pretty bad but that will come in time. Special mention goes to Stephen in the gym who just gave myself and another friend an introductory PT session before Tough Mudder in a couple of weeks time. He was fantastic and really knows what he's talking about. He created a specific HIIT session and spent an hour with us when doing it. Very informative and a pleasant guy to have show us the correct movements and the reason and benefits of each exercise. He even said he'd do a follow up session next week which is over and above expectations. As an employer I recognise good employees and Stephen is a credit to the gym and if you are choosing a PT to go for at the place you won't go wrong with him.
Fantastic experience: The new Alander is lovely however as work is not complete re old building the parking is very limited especially disabled spaces
Positive experience: The new facilities are great. Particularly the gym. The new sportsdrome now open and looks good quality. Parking much easier now. Should have kept the free kids memberships going though
Positive experience: Dropping off to New adult centre, limited parking as old building comes down . Entrance doors not clearly signed for adult care centre or public leisure centre. Lack of space for vehicle pickup drop-off and turning. Non disabled people using leisure centre are parking in disabled bays.
Fantastic experience: Super Leisure Centre, friendly staff, great class. And the new chapter for the Centre opens soon!
Fantastic experience: Very much looking forward to the opening of the new centre. The Allander is the true lynchpin of leisure in Milngavie - it is truly essential to create the community and provide genuine fun in a place riddled with monotonous cafes and smelly pensioners. Please continue to invest, use and enjoy this wonderful asset. I only hope the new centre will have all the amenities and offerings of the current building - with a touch more cleanliness.
Fantastic experience: I've been going here with my family for the last few years and we love it, the existing facility is closing! But a new facility has just been built. We're looking forward to visiting it, can't recommend the Allander enough.
Fantastic experience: Great pool, very friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: This is a fabulous leisure centre. Staff are always so helpful including all in the reception desk and especially the Sandras, Fiona’s classes, Elma’s classes, Gail and Dianne’s Pilates. They’re just all great! Can’t praise them all enough! Thanks for everything guys, much appreciated.
Fantastic experience: Excellent yoga class on Friday mornings with Narina.Fabulous teacher who manages to make classes fun whilst still challenging.Grreat teacher with lovely way about her.
Fantastic experience: Loving the all new centre and hoping that the council have a decent fund to keep up with inevitable wear and tear issues. I've been using the Allander since it first opened in the 70s! Initially as a swimmer with the club and now for last 30+ yrs as head of karate class. Such a great provision for the community and beyond...Big shout out to the amazing staff. Always found them helpful and supportive.
Fantastic experience: Been going to this pool since the 70’s. New one being built next door.
Fantastic experience: A clean well run leisure centre.
Positive experience: Love the pool
Fantastic experience: We had a great time!
Fantastic experience: Great swimming baby pool has a wee dolphin slide great for kids and the big pool nice and deep great for diving in and the staff are all nice and friendly
Fantastic experience: New allander is amazing same staff with happy faces great place
Fantastic experience: Love this pool, lane swimming available most mornings, cafe available. Staff polite, professional and helpful. Mcdonalds nearby on main rd.
Positive experience: Training pool great for kids.
Fantastic experience: Went for a swim today grandchild had a great time
Positive experience: Took my young granddaughter swimming: the beginner pool is quite good for toddlers. It's got nice wide steps leading into warm water. The main part of this pool is too deep for a 19mth-old to stand in having said that- A) a 19mth old child should not be left unattended and B) my 19mth-old loved jumping off the side into pool We shall return
Positive experience: Great community resource
Fantastic experience: Great pool. Used to come here as a teen, it has changed a bit and there is a gym up the stairs where the cafe used to be. Will be back
Positive experience: It's going to look good with a little updating. Fits well within the new housing scheme.
Positive experience: Really excellent council fitness facilities. Will be even better once the carpark is sorted
Fantastic experience: Squash courts
Fantastic experience: Staff are really friendly and helpful and the leisure centre is always clean
Positive experience: Cafe now open!
Positive experience: Starting to show it's age. The spin studio in particular is very claustrophobic, but the staff are lovely and helpful, as in all the EDC leisure centres.
Fantastic experience: Cheap membership and always lots of things to do
Positive experience: Cleanist pool in council district.
Negative experience: It's obvious by the condition of the changing area that a much needed upgrade is in progress...I found the area very dirty / dusty as if it hadn't been cleaned in a while
Positive experience: Good swimming pool and playing courts.
Fantastic experience: One way system in operation, pool open but can be limited when schools are in need to wear mask walking about but feels safe, slightly limited parking due to construction of new allander feb22 Much changed now, no one way, masks etc but still limited parking new Allander looking good not sure when it opens.
Positive experience: Last minute call to play badminton. Enjoyed it.
Positive experience: Good sports centre.
Fantastic experience: It's acting as a Covid vaccine centre at the moment. Really well organised.
Positive experience: Best place to get your covid jab
Positive experience: Here for work , building the new sports centre
Fantastic experience: Very well organised girls and guys so nice
