Park Drive Health Club

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend joining here for whaterver your gym requirements are e.g gym, swim or classes. A really lovely, friendly welcoming gym. The new owners have done wonders with the refurbishments they have completed. There are fantastic classes with excellent instructors. The new patio area is very welcoming and great to sit out fo a drink to chill after classes. My favourite part is the pool area. I take my grandson whenever we have him, lovely warm and relaxing area and excellent water aerobics classes.

Negative experience: gym not great very basic cheap equipment not much variety and it’s not very clean , hot tub is disgusting pool area isn’t clean and all the cream cushions on the chairs have gone yellow , staff are also quite rude and strange. would not recommend

Fantastic experience: Park Drive had come along way since u joined quite a few years back. The New Owners have done an amazing job with other the Referbs. The swimming area has changed incredibly and is so lovely now. My daughter attends swim school and is doing amazing in her classes working her way up. The Gym also is also looking great and is so much better now and has new equipment and its own weights room. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and always happy to help or answer questions when you have them. What I also love is that they now do social events that include members and non members. And they also do lots of different fundraisers for charity’s. I love Park Drive I just wish I could come more often

Negative experience: Parked here to enquire about membership, 3 days later got a parking ticket. Edit you employ these cowboy parking scammers so the 1* review stays. I'm £60 out of pocket you are a member out of pocket lesson learned.

Fantastic experience: Visited Park Drive for the first time, using a day pass. I was very impressed with the variety of equipment in the gym, both free weight and machines. I was able to use all the equipment on the offer. Finished off my session with a visit to the infrared sauna and then onto the pool/hot tub. I know some facilities have recently had an upgrade/refresh and there are still some areas to be updated but I thoroughly enjoyed my time and think the day pass was very good value for money. I’ll definitely be back again. Thanks to Clare, who is one of the trainers, for the recommendation.

Fantastic experience: Attended park drive today on the recommendation of Clare who works there, we got a day pass and can honestly say it was fantastic value, got to use all the facilities, spent over an hour in the gym then 20 minutes in the sauna and then Jacuzzi. We could get on all equipment was was after and it was all very clean and well spaced out. Highly recommend and throughly enjoyed it, will be back

Negative experience: to all potential new members and current members, a warning to you all regarding parking at Park Drive. My wife (who is currently a member) having already received (and paid) a parking charge earlier in the year received another notice of parking charge in September. One mistake OK, but two, was there a problem with the system or the tablet you use when signing in each time you arrive! This time she decided to contest the charge so contacted Park Drive via the clubs website contact page. when she failed to recieve a reply she contacted the club directly to explain the situation that she had electronic proof she was booked in for a swim at the time of the alleged parking offence. the clubs response was to say you only had 3 days to respond to a parking charge notice, when my wife pointed out that the club had failed to respond to her inquiry via the Web site they said "it was nothing to do with them" and you have to deal directly with the parking company! thinking common sense would prevail when we submitted proof of membership and the confirmed lane swim booking the charge would be dropped. How wrong we were; the charge was upheld and we had to pay £100 (£40 on top of the original fine. Frustratingly no one can tell us what the actual infringement was. Park Drive said they only have 3 "lifelines" per month and some of those are used by contractors. So if you happen to be a member and your the 4th person in the month then you can be sure you'll receive NO support from the club and end up with a parking notice and subsequent fine. Don't forget there is Blackwater sports centre / swimming pool next door, and the parking there comes with no risk of receiving a fine. We are currently taking legal advise (based on email correspondence between the club and recorded conversation with a park drive employee. I will update our progress monthly on the Park drive and usual social media platforms.

Fantastic experience: Park drive is so friendly and welcoming me and mum did our first aqua today everyone was friendly and Jan our instructor was fab,thank you to Adele for showing us around and being their for us, we felt so comfortable with the club and the people x special mention to Adele as she has been so great over the weeks as I've been asking her so many questions. Thank you Park drive.

Negative experience: Very run down pool area, everything was dirty. Pool water doesn’t smell of any form of chlorine, so not sure if that’s even clean and filtered, hot tub was dirty too. Rain from pool roof was dripping down on us as we swam. Main changing rooms and showers are very similar to old fashioned school P.E ones with things rusty, broken or dirty. Would not recommend or revisit unless there were some significant changes. Visited July 2023.

Fantastic experience: I was a member here over 15 years ago but my busy lifestyle and being away a lot made me cancel. Firstly I was amazed at how much it had changed. So much for the better. With so many new activities available. But secondly, all of the staff that I encountered were so helpful and friendly. I have only joined for the month because I needed an infrared sauna for part of a detox program I'm doing for Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner, but now I'm seriously considering taking up full membership again. Positive experience: Visited on Friday on a day pass. I was very welcome was lovely. My sister and I used the hot tub by the pool area, which had scum ring floating around the waterline. The shower and changing areas were also not very clean. There were lots of hairs up the walls and just the overall cleanliness was not very pleasant. Really put me off. The lady was cleaning however with dirty water, a dirty mop and sponge. Sorry I will not be back

Fantastic experience: Under new management the reception finished today things are looking up. New Beauty treatment rooms are close to being finished. Squash courts are next . First Essex League squash tonight for a very long time was great. Friendly atmosphere as always. Warm child friendly pool. weights room and gym. Ticks all the boxes

Fantastic experience: It hasn't got the glitz and glamour but you are not waiting for someone sat on a machine texting to finish so you can use it. Properly staffed and attended by people who want to exercise not socialise.

Positive experience: A very messy gym. An extremely cramped free weights section. So much stuff in it people simply do not use. There is better gyms for the same cost and cheaper. Very quiet near closing times.

Fantastic experience: Nice gym with the addition of a warm, covered outdoor pool, staff friendly, never over busy, but for me great no queuing, seems more of an older generation place. Nice coffee after. Also have outdoor Padel tennis courts and indoor squash court's.

Negative experience: No offers, or memberships for families with disabled children. Need to rethink this. £55 a month is far too much to ask for a household with only one income. Blackwater Leisure Centre offer better memberships.

Positive experience: No discount available for disabled daughter. We'd only visit to support her with swimming, so wouldn't need the full facilities.
