Fantastic experience: The best Gym and Sauna In Swindon …
Negative experience: I was interested in joining Village Gym Swindon, but I was put off by the lack of price transparency. It’s frustrating that you can’t see the membership costs without having to give personal details. In today’s world, people expect upfront information to make quick and informed decisions. Not displaying prices makes it feel like they’re either hiding something or want to pressure you into signing up after a sales pitch. Honestly, I’d rather know straight away if it fits my budget before wasting time. Maybe this is part of their strategy to target a specific type of customer, but for me, it’s a deal-breaker. Other gyms are much more open about their pricing, which feels more convenient and trustworthy.

Positive experience: Not only are the staff lovely and helpful but we also found the other users to be communicative and helpful too So many places one visits like this where everyone keeps their head down to just get on with their day, but here we had pleasant smiles and helpful hints

Positive experience: Love my Swindon gym. Why? Because ALL the staff are always so friendly and helpful.This is from managers to cleaners. It would be nice to have more adult swim time as this is taken up with Aqua classes especially at the weekends! Unless you want to take part it leaves just 45 mins to use the pool without children- or get up at 7am ,and those people who are working members like a lazy morning after being up early all week, Aqua is everyday! (Maybe make Aqua at 7am at weekends )Plus Swim classes are now after 6pm during some days. Again this eats into adults time. May I suggest Swim Time uses the other side of the pool for swim classes using the first bar only! Plus some swim class parents are again using the lounge beds.Fine if they are members but most are not. Swindon pool in size /shape is not big enough like Bournemouth, Cardiff or Bristol, it doesn’t accommodate to lane closer due to its shape. This in mind perhaps Village needs to accommodate pool sizes rather than just roll out a like for like model on swim times throughout the country. Lots of other members feel like this and it upsets them. That said it’s a great place to visit.

Fantastic experience: Tai Chi with Bruce Clarke is great for core and balance work- I have been joining 2 sessions per week and my body shape has changed- class is fun and being with others lifts the spirits

Fantastic experience: Tai chi (Qi gong) with Bruce Clarke is excellent. I can only join class once per week and along with some Pilates with Adrianne, my balance has improved phenomenally in the past few months- thank you both! Highly recommended! Gutted I can’t attend all the sessions running- work gets in the way!!

Fantastic experience: I started in the gym around 2 months ago! I was nervous and self conscious. I had an introduction session with a PT called Rob Trupia. After that session I have booked 2 weekly PT sessions a week - he has been fantastic with me! Sessions are fun but testing and I can already notice a positive improvement! Great gym and lovely team of people!

Negative experience: Absolute rip off compared to other gyms in Swindon. Full price membership is £60 a month and it's not clear why. The gym is tiny so you feel on top of other gym goers, there no functional area for body weight or stretching (there is a tiny space which you can use if you don't mind doing a downward dog 1m from some poor soul on a machine). Locker room is cramped, hot, and usually not very clean. The pool is a weird shape so you can't use it for lengths. Saved a star because the staff are very nice and none of this is their fault. Go to a cheaper, larger gym if you want to feel relaxed and have space.

Fantastic experience: I was recommended by a friend to join the Village Gym. It’s nice and clean, and has lots of equipment to use in the gym space. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. When I first joined the Village Gym, I decided to start with a PT and I’m so glad that I got Natalie as my personal trainer. She’s amazing! She has been 110% all the way supporting me. I had no confidence to start with, Natalie has made me feel comfortable and given me the confidence to turn up and do our PT sessions. Natalie is very knowledgeable in training and nutrition. I feel like I’ve achieved so much all ready with working towards my goal with Natalie. I’m really pleased with how things have turned out joining the Village gym and that’s because of Natalie. Negative experience: I have had foot surgery. I cannot go swimming for three months. They won’t let me cancel my membership, pause my membership, or allow someone else to use my membership while I am recovering. So my children cannot go swimming got three months. This is extremely unfair and they have shown no compassion for what is literally a medical situation. Do NOT recommend.

Hi Alexksander, I am so sorry that you found the poolside and changing rooms dirty - we do have cleaners throughout the time we are open 7-days a week who attend both the changing rooms and poolside. Should anything be satisfactory during a visit I would recommend bringing this to the attention of our Team Leader on shift that day.

Negative experience: The most unprofessional attitude I came just to check out their sauna and I didn't like it ( DIRTY+ MILDEW SMELL ) Nevertheless in order to see it they asked me to fill the form and on that form I particularly mentioned "DO NOT SEND ME YOUR ADVERTISEMENT" Obviously they put a tick interest of me Now I simply CAN'T unsubscribe from their annoying emails. I have checked our marketing options and can see that you are not selected to receive any marketing so I do apologise if another form is managing to reach you - this hasn't come from the team at the Club. Hopefully the SMS have stopped now but please do call me on 01793 889360 if you are still experiencing issues.
Positive experience: Used the pool as a guest and found general changing area very cramped and uncomfortable. No room for the pram or carrying baby. People squeezing by to get through. Family/disabled changing room had no changing unit to change my baby. Wouldn’t want to pay to come here, the facilities just didnt feel up to scratch. Staff were very friendly though.
Hi Kim, thank you for review. We do ask that Prams are parked outside of the changing rooms to prevent any mud and dirt being brought into the changing rooms. During children's swim times, especially during school holidays, the swimming pool is far busier than during term time which will cause less space in the changing rooms. As you correctly mentioned, we do not have a baby change facility in the family change but we are currently looking at moving one of the two from the ladies to the family change.
Negative experience: Hadn’t used the gym for many months and decided to end the membership. Apparently I cancelled it one month short of the 12 month contract. Said it was ok just to pay the final month and that would be that which was fair enough. Apparently, despite not turning up for 5 months and saying them saying it would be the final payment .. they billed me again for a further 2 months. Quite disgusted. Signing a 12 month contract was a big mistake when other gyms are doing a cheaper rolling contract. Nice gym .. really nasty with the payments.
Hi Gurninder, I am sorry you had this experience at the Club. Upon joining all members are emailed a couple of their membership terms and conditions which detail the process of cancellations, this will assist with clarity on the process of how to cancel a membership. We also recommend all membership cancellations are done via the App so you get a receipt and confirmation of all remaining payments to prevent any confusion.

Positive experience: I've been using the gym for nearly 4 years now. After a recent surgery, I restarted gym with Natalie Dowse as a personal trainer. She has been really good and I'm enjoying the sessions very much. Overall we are happy with the gym, main complain would be the cleanliness of the pool area and changing/shower room has gone down quite a bit, we rarely see any cleaners now a days where before there would always be someone cleaning and keeping the areas dry.

With regards to the cleanliness I will be picking this up with our cleaning team immediately, it is disappointing to read that you haven't seen them cleaning regularly - we still have cleaners on shift from open until close each day of the week.
Fantastic experience: Nice small gym, has all the equipment you need. Always clean and tidy. Good class time table and facilities for reasonable price. Staff are lovely and friendly. Have Natalie as a PT who is always super friendly and helpful, and runs a great session with great availability to work around you.

Fantastic experience: I have been with village gym Swindon for just over 6 months now, it's a great gym, good equipment and very clean. I see Natalie for PT once a week, she has put together a great training plan, keeps the sessions really interesting and pushes me when I need it!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for about 3 years now. I love the variety of classes and that feeling of being in a community. Everyone is friendly from staff to other gym-goers. Their equipment is fab and it's never overcrowded. Of course there is the added bonus of a lovely pool to take my kids to (with an after-swim treat in the cafe upstairs!)

Negative experience: I went for a aqua class at 12.15 and just minutes before the start it was cancelled no notice due to illness of the class teacher Zoe we were just getting changed for the class some where in the pool. Not normally a low score
Hi Anne, we are so sorry for this inconvenience it has caused you. The late cancellation was sadly due to late notice from the instructor and no cover instructor was available in the short amount of time. We are working on processes to try and reduce the risk of this happening again.

Positive experience: Gym is ok … not the best not the worst. Dressing rooms are most of the time clean. Pool is nice… but I would not recommend to go for swim after water aerobic…

Negative experience: The gym is lovely - however the personal trainers seem to make distasteful comments online regarding the appearance of their customers… definitely the wrong mindset for PT’s to slate people who are going to the gym to better themselves!! Wouldn’t recommend

Fantastic experience: My first gym experience ever and sooooo good. Very easy sign up process with Mia who was very helpful to me and my girlfriend. Than Chloe was super nice, friendly and patiently explained how the gym works from organisational side. And Felipe (probably misspelled, sorry man!) is so knowledgeable personal trainer, gave a lot of advise to start off. Never too busy, very nice changing rooms, sauna is amazing. All the equipment is very tech but super friendly to newbies with digital screens offering you advise how to do exercises and set up the gear. And always someone around to ask for help. Highly recommended!!

Positive experience: Not a massive gym but you can normally work a routine into what they got. It has all the essential weight equipment like racks, cable, benches and an ok range of dumbells. Lots of cardio stuff with a small swimming pool on the side

We also have a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna in addition to the swimming pool for guests and members to use for wellbeing and relaxation.

Negative experience: Booked a tour of the health club as was interested in joining. The staff were really lovely during this visit and no problems in signing me up. However, first visit after signing up - very disappointed. The attitude of the staff to us that evening left a lot to be desired. The Man City football team were staying in the hotel that night due to a game with Swindon - we didn’t know this when we visited. They were so concerned with the footballers - think they forget it’s their regular clients bringing them the money. We were also told the gym was never at full capacity - definitely was when we went. The lady on the door was a different person to when we signed up quite abrupt. The changing rooms left a lot to be desired. Very basic and practically all parts of it ‘not working’. Certainly not a £40pm experience - so cancelled within my cooling off period.

Positive experience: Please get the treadmill and crosstrainer tv screens working! They've been out for absolutely ages. They're essential as the covid screens block vision to the big screens on the walls! Also easier to get in the zone if you can plug into Bargain Hunt for 30 minutes!

Fantastic experience: A very pleasant experience. The pool, steam room, sauna & jacuzzi are very relaxing. If you float on your back in the pool you can watch the clouds float by! All the staff are friendly. I haven't been in the gym yet but that looks good too.

Negative experience: For £43 a month, you should expect more from a gym. For 4 days they didn't fix the cable mechine when it only needed a clip. They close the till really early so if you're expecting to get a drink at 9pm good luck. The blokes only care about the girls that go there. Air con is only in 1 room of the gym. Equipment needs updating. Save your money there are better gyms for half the price!

Positive experience: Pleasant quiet swimming pool if you’re staying in the hotel but the men’s changing room require improvement because it smelt strongly of bleach (around 8:00 pm) and the showers in the changing room looked dirty and creepy due to the flickering lights. It’s good when it’s for free because you’re a guest in the hotel there, but not if you’re paying.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Whole family has been members for years. Dont personally use the gym, just the pool and sauna facilities. Great value for young family as kids membership includes swimming. Have had issues with cards not working etc and problem always sorted quickly. Lovely manager Natalie. Always ready to help. Would never go to another gym/pool.

Fantastic experience: I booked to take my son swimming as a non menber. I phoned up on the day I wanted to go and they had space. The changing rooms are clean and the locker provision is great. The pool was a lovely temperature and the 0.6m triangle section of pool was perfect for my toddler to be able to stand up and enjoy the water. We really enjoyed our time in the pool and thought the facilities we used were superb.

Negative experience: Waited around 20 mins for a tour that we didn't get in the end. Not well organized at all. Didn't feel welcomed.

Fantastic experience: On a one week trial for the gym and swim. Pool had technical issues and is quite shallow so more a leisure pool then swimming pool but is perfect for me. I'm disabled and having a safe shower area was so important and they have AMAZING disabled changing rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: I love everything and everyone at Swindon Village Gym. Latest equipment, fantastic classes taken by the most enthusiastic and motivational instructors. Staff and members are so friendly and welcoming. Joining Village Gym Swindon was the best decision I made.

Negative experience: Far too many kids swim classes which makes the female changing rooms BEDLAM! I have written in official complaints but it seems that there is nothing they can do to improve it :( very sad as this used to be a wonderful gym and still could be if only they could sort this one problem.

Negative experience: You pay the weighty monthly fee because you have access to a small pool, in nterms of actual facilities they offer less than the pop up cheaper 24 hour gyms. The free weight area is tiny, if you go at anytime close to peak you spend more time weighting or you have to change your routine on the day.
