Fantastic experience: Clean, changing rooms, friendly staff, lovely big (25m) pool, viewing room, gym Disabled access, car park

Negative experience: This review is based purely on the newly refurbished gym. I have been a member here for over the thirty years and the staff are generally very pleasant snd good at their jobs. I have used the gym several times a week for over thirty years and was excited when they said that she gym was being refurbished. The old equipment was decent enough but needed updating. I don't know if the person who designed the new gym actually uses the gym as the new equipment, for the most part is awful, and is far worse than the tired equipment it replaced. I would go so far as to say the the new equipment is not fit for purchase and in some cases is dangerous particularly elliptical trainers and the bikes are of very poor quality. The leg press machine is also rubbish. If you are going to invest money at least listen to people who use a gym. I think a huge opportunity has been missed here as a better gym would attract more clients. The staff and members deserve better!

Fantastic experience: Gym - Staff are lovely and on hand to help if necessary. Equipment is well maintained and clean. Good amount of variety in equipmeny for the relatively small space. Overall a quality tight nit gymspace for people at any stage of exercise.

Positive experience: Swimming is brill and plenty of activities adults and kids alike. Getting reception on the phone though is difficult.

Fantastic experience: Great facility. I was surprised how good the pitch was. Only complaint really, if you can criticise is the changing rooms are a little distance away from the pitch, but nothing to worry about.

Positive experience: Clean and friendly staff. Rarely busy, cracking little gym. The swimming pool is basic but always clean and rarely busy.

Positive experience: Carla is amazing and a great instructor ‼️‼️ Aqua Aerobics was funFacilities are disabled friendly although the shower water pressure is less to be desired and the drain is slow, leaving standing in who knows what kind of muck.

Fantastic experience: Grandkids love their swimming lessons here.

Negative experience: No one answers the phone, tried ringing all day to get a membership. Swear they just leave the room whenever the phone rings. Lost a customer.

Negative experience: Plenty of activities at Heolddu Leisure Centre, but it works part time for adults as many areas are booked for school children, especially the pool. The gym is available most of the day yet the changing rooms and showers are locked for school children until 4pm. The swimming pool is unavailable to the public most of the day and when available, it is usually busy

Fantastic experience: Went for my first swim today since lock down my experience was amazing Steve and the receptionist were very helpful. The system in place to me was excellent, spotless and the pool temperature was great loved it, can not wait for my next visit. Well done Heolddu 10/10

Positive experience: Basic leisure centre with a 25m pool. Usually I find the pool water temperature to be on the cold side. The changing room facilities have recently undergone an refurb. The centre also has a gym and a number of different clubs use the centre including gymnastics and swimming clubs. There is a wide range of pool and land based fitness activities during the week which are all documented on their website.

Negative experience: The most awful excuse for a 3g i have ever seen. Its essentially astroturf with rubber pellets laying thick over the top. A road surface has more cushion than this pitch. Also playing at night is awful the floodlights are too low so your blinded whenever you look towards the goals when using half a pitch, plus only half of the lamp heads on each light is on so visibility is not as good as it should be. Unfortunately you have to pay a premium rate for a poorly maintained substandard facility. The Faw should take this facility off it list of 3G surfaces because its not up to standard

Positive experience: Great leisure centre, they do a brilliant sports scheme for children in the summer holidays!

Negative experience: Not a clue what the staff are doing... twice have booked a quarter of the sports hall, just to turn up and get ready to train then to have staff then come in and tell me that I'm not booked down. Was told I had to come out as they cant fit me in. Last week I called up to ask when free swim is, went up to have a swim, paid at reception, then again a few minutes later a member of staff told me I have to come out of the pool due to children's swimming lessons. I give up going there now.

Fantastic experience: The staff at heolddu are friendly, professional, supportive, helpful and a credit to caerphilly borough. I've been to another local centre and to be honest I found the manager there rude, disrespectful and had a shocking manner towards paying customers. Keep up the good work Heolddu

Negative experience: Very poor.. Shuts whatever time they like and you have to purchase a trolly coin if you want a locker.. The staff look like they've been slapped with a happy stick.. Won't be going again

Positive experience: The building could really do with a makeover as it and the facilities are getting dated. Good variety of classes and a well equipped gym here however. The staff are always friendly and the pool is usually a nice temperature.

Positive experience: Sonetimes ive waited 10 mins to check in .No matter what activity you use there is only the one person doing check ins and answering the phone. If someone is paying for membership over the phone expect a long wait.Parking is also a nightmare
