Negative experience: My review comes from using this facility nearly every day as a gym since summer 2023. As a consistent gym, it’s mediocre at best and sometimes downright frustrating, especially when it fills up with school kids from 3pm to 5pm who don’t use the equipment. • There’s only one of certain machines like the bench press and smith machine. • The staff caused major inconvenience by moving the bench press onto the soft floor in the free weight room, leaving little space to maneuver, which is especially problematic when handling 25 kg plates. • The open space in the free weight room is sometimes used for classes in the evenings without any notice to regular gym users. This often results in waiting around just to use basic equipment, causing a huge waste of time and messing up workout routines. • The smith machine (the only one) was broken for over a month despite multiple complaints. • Treadmills are awkwardly placed upstairs in the weight machine room, causing the entire floor to shake when in use, even though there are plenty of treadmills downstairs. Staff also ignore inconsiderate gym users, like someone who dances and takes up half the floor space in the already crowded free weight room, disregarding safety with heavy weights being carried and dropped. Among the regulars, we got along because we shared the common struggle of using a bad gym, which only exists because it’s the only one available. This lack of competition likely explains why they don’t bother improving. Overall, the membership is much more expensive than other gyms a short drive or bus ride away, yet you get worse facilities and the issues I mentioned are unlikely to be resolved because the staff just don’t care.

Positive experience: Pool has hair dryers but don’t really work, you need to put £1 in and it gives you 30 min, put in 20p / 10p/5p nothing happened. Left with damp hair. Pool good but toilets very dirty, staff nice.

Negative experience: Has plenty of potential, but unfortunately the changing rooms and toilets feel very unclean and the overall decor needs a refresh. Shame as used to be lovely but feels like it is in desperate need of a refurb!

Negative experience: Used the swimming pool today. Filthy and quite cold. Such a shame as it could be amazing... it needs a really good daily clean, looks like it hasn't been done in months. Showers cold too.

Fantastic experience: Lovely little leisure center. Quite busy first thing in the morning but gets quieter towards 10am. Have student discount on swims. Also have a sauna!

Positive experience: I can't speak for the other facilities but I have been swimming here a lot. The pool is pretty cold, even the baby pool. The changing rooms are very old and tired with more than half the lockers broken and plenty of paint peeling off the walls. The gents toilets are in a particularly bad state of repair. The major plus point for this place is it's location being in central Lewes.

Negative experience: Swimming changing areas very run down. Filthy toilets. No cafe/ drink space. Vending machines rarely work. Nothing fun for toddlers here apart from swimming. Prices are very good though and the staff are nice.

Negative experience: Have been using gyms for 15 years and this was by far the most untidy gym I've ever come across, kit laid out everyone no one is using and the gym staff just walking past it all chatting to each other; your better off hiring a bouncer to police this stuff than the useless staff they employ

Positive experience: Good local leisure centre, the gym has a good range of facilities, machines, free weights section, decent swimming pool. Vending machines could offer some better/healthier choices. You need a £1 coin for the lockers too.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love going to the pool here, the staff are lovely, the pool is clean and there's a free sauna too! Great value for money and It feels like home.

Positive experience: Toilets were dirty and out of soap, the vending machines were empty or out of order, gymnasium floor was dirty as well. Lots of sport sessions were on at the same time, it was difficult to get around with smaller children inside.

Positive experience: Went to the pool with my friends, good time, sauna was nice. The changing rooms didn't have much space. But I enjoyed the experience.

Positive experience: Nice pool for swimming lessons but my kids were absolutely freezing while in the water and blue when they came out. Many other kids looked the same. It's enough to make my kids not want to go back and they love swimming. Please turn the heat up.

Positive experience: Perfectly fine for swim and gym. Reasonable price, nice staff, clean facilities. Missed out on a star because its overall a little tired; the showers are old, hairdryers broken- generally just needs a bit of love and attention. Brilliant for the price and does the job though

Fantastic experience: I go to the leisure centre almost every day to use the gym and it is brilliant the best gym in lewes the whole leisure centre is really nice place and the staff there are all so friendly and helpful also it's a nice place to bring your family it's got everything you need, gym, swimming pool and a little pool for the very young children and they also run classes like yoga, Qigong and others all in all it's a good place to be.

Positive experience: Nice swimming pool just not enough time slots for just swimming so the hour slot in the evenings is over crowded. So not very good for someone who was to just go for a swim after work . Such a shame as would definitely put people off .

Negative experience: Flume not open even though was told it would be when enquiring before arranging to go. Short staffed apparently but can see this in previous reviews so probably just routine. Went at 9am so you’d think it would be clean. Absolutely filthy pool with black mould and ingrained dirt. Cool water. No toddler pool during family swim. One vacant and disinterested lifeguard. Filthy showers some of which don’t work properly. Filthy changing rooms with hair and engrained dirt. Lots of broken lockers, broken signs hanging off the walls in the pool area. Lockers held up by a plank of wood as the looked like they were keeling over. Absolutely rank and disappointing for the kids. Oh and you need to bring your own padlock for the lockers! Grim. Won’t be going back.

Positive experience: Been going to this gym for 3 months and the staff are very friendly and the gym has all the basics you need, however the equipment is getting quite old. The free weights room is extremely hot at all times and if any equipment needs a repair, it takes weeks to have it back in use. The price is quite average for what it offers however and I have been to better for the same price.

Positive experience: Not the biggest pool area but is pretty clean. Has a cool water slide, baby/ toddler pool and normal sized swimming pool. Medium sized car park that can fill up quickly - so get there early! Cost is reasonable.

Positive experience: Totally disappointed by the lack of time for Kids not in lessons. My son is 12 and goes to Priory right next door but can't go swimming after school because it's closed for lessons! I find this very unfair as he was unable to go swimming due to covid restrictions and now still unable to go! I'm tempted to cancel my own membership as this seems unfair I can not take him swimming

Fantastic experience: Didnt know this place was there. We were looking for a softplay. This is small but enough to keep the kids occupied. Quite quiet when we went there. Also noticed a lovely swimming pool with a small pool too. Prices are ridiculously low. Recommend.

Negative experience: One of the worst fitness centers I’ve ever been to, but it’s — unfortunately — the only real option for weightlifting in Lewes. Check-in at the front desk once took, and I’m not exaggerating, almost five minutes (as in, waiting in line to have my card scanned), and the equipment is quite out-of-date. The weight room is exceptionally small, also, and there’s no room for compound movements if there are other people lifting in the space. I’ve also asked employees at the front desk a few questions about my membership, and I was promised that a Membership Coordinator would reach out to me — I’m still waiting for that e-mail or phone call two weeks later. I am hopeful that another gym will move down to Lewes, because I just don’t think this place is either clean or worth the money, and I would never recommend it.

Negative experience: The staff are friendly however very expensive for locals to use the centre ... they said that they put the prices up for maintenance but the changing rooms are always dirty. The car park is full of expensive cars (lots of new London people moved into the area with disposable incomes). Positive experience: I like Lewes pool as it's a lot quieter than the ones in Brighton and the water is a lot nicer as they use a different cleansing system that's not chlorine based. The staff always seem very helpful and happy too. And there's a sauna by the poolside that's free! They could do with a changing room re-fit though - it feels a bit tired and grimy and the lockers are totally battered. As the shallow end is so shallow it makes me feel like a faster swimmer as the bottom is so close ! Overall a good pool.

Negative experience: Signed up and paid the membership, wasn’t happy with the run down facility and the fact the whole place needs a refurb (there’s better gyms online for less money if you search) plus no steam room, no cafe, knackered lockers and the place was filthy. HOWEVER I’m Locked in to a 12 month contract I can’t cancel! They take the money whether you use it or not and it’s hundreds of pounds or they threaten you with collection agencies. Even if you don’t use the place. I’m going to citizens advice but first, don’t make the same mistake as me. The company that deals with membership are a joke and the membership staff at the gym are just as bad.. poor service and anything to keep you trapped

Negative experience: Be very careful before signing up! If you cancel your membership at any time you have to pay the whole 12 months fees as a cancellation charge which is hundreds of pounds!! I expected this from Fitness First but not a local gym!

Positive experience: The swimming pool is very pleasant and reasonably priced. Lots of changing cubicles, free lockers, free parking too. All staff were friendly and helpful. Good for swimming seriously or just for fun. Showers ok and there are hairdriers. Only downside was high humidity in changing area meant it was hard to get properly dry before leaving.

Positive experience: Nice pool. Great for kids. The inflatable on Saturday afternoons is a real hit! The changing rooms and lockers could do with a bit of maintenance and are starting to look a bit tired though.

Fantastic experience: Great leisure centre. Yes its a bit tired in places but the staff are great. The reception team couldn't be more helpful and swimming teachers are amazing. Clean pools and changing areas. Why over the odds for private swimming lessons for your children when they will be taught better at your local pool? We travel there from Hove. Lots of parking. Highly recommended.
