PureGym Glasgow Hope Street

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I have found it to be very welcoming and inclusive. I use it mostly for classes, the instructors are great and the classes are challenging yet fun. The location is perfect for central station train users too.

Fantastic experience: Located in the centre is very useful for those staying in the hotels or working in the centre. The gym is very easy to find situated opposite of the Central Station and Voco Grand Central Glasgow hotel. The gym is clean and tidy with good vibe. The equipments are nicely maintained. Local grocery shops and restaurants along the street.

Negative experience: As a woman, I would recommend avoiding this gym. Staff members at gyms should ensure everyone feels comfortable, but my experience has been the opposite. Disturbingly, I have seen previous reviews from other women who have encountered the same type of inappropriate behavior. Also, i have found the gym itself is in poor condition, and it might improve if staff members focused more on maintaining the facility rather than engaging in what in my opinion what is inappropriate behavior. This is simply just my experience.

Negative experience: Quite smelly, like a sewer at the stairs, been like this for as long as i can remember, smell can vary from mild/tolerable to outrageously stinky, plenty of good equipment though and a convenient location.

Positive experience: 3 stars is fair, taking the monthly fee of £20 into account. The free weights area is good and the area for benches is large. There are 3 squat racks (one with a deadlift platform) and one standalone deadlift platform. They have a decent space on level 1 for stretching or doing walking lunges, and their upstairs has tons of cardio machines, enough cables and some other leg and upper body weight machines. Like most gyms, after 5-5:30pm it gets pretty busy and downstairs especially can get really crowded. They have a decent variety of cable attachments upstairs, however they don't have enough handles and some of them are cheap ones that are breaking (the grips have come off and they've just wrapped them in some sort of paper wrap). This started to really frustrate me so I bought my own which are far better quality. Overall for a city centre gym I'd say it's a good size, and if you go at quieter times, it's generally not overcrowded.

Fantastic experience: First time trying PureGym, the equipment was fantastic. Marcos couldn't be anymore helpful and basically bent over backwards to help me and a friend. Deserving of 5 stars!

Negative experience: Overcrowded in the evening times,but i guess it's still ok for city centre. But wifi signal can't manage such amount of connections, hence for half a year one has to run all over the premises trying to catch a bit of a signal. Management only says they're gonna contact o2,but nothing changes

Positive experience: The proximity to a central stop is great for my attendance when I don't have to drive. It's spacious with loads of equipment to run with.

Fantastic experience: Compared to other local gyms this gym has far more equipment and facillities. Theres more plates, a greater variety of machines and more of the popular machines, meaning faster a workout. There are water fountains everywhere which IS really nice. Nobody wants to cross the whole gym for a drink of water. There are vending machines but given the location if thé gym theyre very expensive, theres liké 3 tescos within a 5 min radius of the gym which sell most of the same products at half the Price of the vending machine. Thé staff IS very nice and polite and the facillities are Always kept clean. Although the tables and chairs near the entrance could be cleaned more often

Negative experience: The fact that you allow a male EMPLOYEE to work in your facility, after reports of him taking pictures and recording WOMEN working out at the gym is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. how are women supposed to workout comfortably under your roof when they can’t even do anything without being recorded by the people that work there? who are they supposed to go to for their safety at the gym? what if it was another gym goer that approached and harassed them? how can they feel comfortable reporting these issues to staff that are also HARASSING them? Absolutely DISGUSTING.

Negative experience: Most unprofessional staff ever!! Recording members, full of creeps that don’t know how to stick to their workouts instead of harassing people!!! Highly recommended AVOIDING this gym!!

Negative experience: Doesn’t take the safety of their female patrons seriously. Allows people to feel unsafe while working out and harassed - unacceptable and gross behaviour 0/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: I have a friend who has went here and has complained about guys harassing her, from a staff member recording her to another guy even trying to follow her home. It’s sad when you find a gym that has the equipment you like but the management can’t do the bare minimum of ensuring the clients that fund their business feel safe. If you’re a female, beware of this gym and take extra precaution when leaving.

Positive experience: Location is great, smack bang in the middle glasgow. Gym itself nice and compact with quite few decent bits of equipment around, as well as being clean and tidy. As only second time visiting this location I still managed to get lost in the building!! Maybe a few more directional markers for first (and second) timers.

Positive experience: This is a nice little gym emphasis on the little it's very claustrophobic compared to other pure gym locations however the staff are friendly and helpful and it's nice and clean all machines working one thing I can say tho is a better layout plan as I find my self running from top to bottom for my workouts to reach necessary equipment

Fantastic experience: I've been a member of this gym for years. The facilities are good, and especially the spin classes on weekend days are what keep me coming back! Many gyms don't offer cycle classes or have just a couple of sessions in the week, so I find the options at PureGym to be the best. I really enjoy the cycle classes with both Lorna and Christina who are full of energy and enthusiasm. Kudos to them for keeping me motivated every weekend.

Positive experience: Eu gostei da academia mais na fui em outras melhores! A melhor opção é o terceiro andar mais muitos dos aparelhos estão com estofado partindo! A máquina tbm coloquei £2.20 ele não entrou o pré treino aí coloquei cancela ela devolveu £0,80 aí para conseguir o produto tive que pagar no cartão! Acho que por ser próximo a central de Glasgow está meio mal cuidado! Mais deu para treina então! A dica é está espero ter ajudado

Fantastic experience: Always been a good gym but the cleanliness over the last 12 months was sometimes not at the level it should have been. However what a difference recently. I’m in the gym most days and the difference is incredible. Well done PureGym Hope street it’s hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Fantastic experience: Being going to this gym on & off since it first opened but persistently for the past 2 years. I love it to be honest. I always feel very relaxed & at home there & for it being smaller than bath street I feel less overwhelmed at hope street. The staff I’ve spoke to past & present have always been lovely. Would love to see a second leg press machine on the ground floor tho & possible a 3rd/4th stair-master but spacing wise I get why this may not be possible. Overall if you want to just come in & get stuck in hassle free this is definitely the place.

Positive experience: The location is great, it has all the essentials.but....how can you not have WiFI in the gym?? Moreover, there is really bad connection for mobile data, I'm really confused how this has been an ongoing issue and no one is in charge of that. Also would be great if there was a bigger variety of classes. It's all very repetitive.

Positive experience: I only use the rowing machine. Only 2 out the 6 rowers I had to try worked. The others either had no battery power or damaged footplates. Unfortunately, this is pretty standard from the Pure gyms I've tried.

Positive experience: Great gym and excellent staff BUT....for at least a fortnight now the spin studio has been hot to the point that it ruins the classes. I don't know if the aircon is broken or what but I've complained to two members of staff and still there studio is far too hot, also the WiFi has been broken for months ‍♀️

Fantastic experience: Best PyreGym in my opinion does another of free weights and loads of machines I prefer this to the Shawlands or Fort branch larger with more equipment.

Negative experience: Very stuffy and humid gym with no air conditioning, with no air circulation it's an ideal hot spot for covid. Plenty of equipment that l normally use is now out of order even the weighing machines in the toilets, they take the money but don't do what they are supposed to. Cleaning is a hit or miss with the changing rooms in need of a good sweeping and the floor bleaching. If you send an email or send a message to the gym no one cares enough to reply, l think it's time to move from this gym and try somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Honestly the only complaint I have is how often I have to press the button in the shower to keep it going! Other than that perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff who took excellent care of me when I lost my padlock for a locker. Clean and hygienic, as well as staff in full PPE and well stocked cleaning stations. Absolutely fantastic.

Negative experience: I'm a member of Glasgow PureGym. Gym equipment & staff are good....... However.......the gyms hygiene/cleanliness is VERY POOR. There are NO antibacterial/cleaning sprays or cleaning paper near the equipment or on site. They are signs around saying "wipe down equipment after use" - What with? - your sweaty towel that would be use to ingrain/spread any contamination? - Perfect breeding ground for viruses. Changing rooms/showers are also not clean - Perfect breeding ground for viruses This is Critical to get proper cleaning equipment for member to use on site.

Positive experience: Good gym handy for city centre but equipment is mostly laying all over the place and you have to hunt for what you're looking for as it's very rarely in its place.

Negative experience: Disappointed so far. Lockers don't lock in the ladies changing rooms, was informed my own padlock was at fault for this not the lockers themselves.... tried to buy one of their padlocks only for there to be none available. Not really prepared to run the risk of having my belongings stolen for the sake of a treadmill.

Negative experience: Equipment is new but filthy and sticky. Ladies showers were freezing cold. After chasing up manager, her excuse was that the boilers were not switched on. How can the boilers not be switched on for a 24/7 gym?

Positive experience: This gym is in a great central location, and the staff are lovely. It’s just a pity the men’s changing rooms are too small, they’re filthy and most of the lockers are broken - if it was maintained to a better standard, then it’s the ideal gym for the price.

Fantastic experience: Not the best in form of equipmemt. Lacking a few things. But willing to give it 5 stars anyway because of how great and friendly the management is. Reminds me of a small local gym. I got the plus and workout regularly at both Hope Street and Bath Street as I pass both to work. But every time I go Bath Street I end up regretting. Go Hope Street Pure Gym. Never Bath Street

Negative experience: Far too small a gym, 1 leg press machine. Changing rooms are always too hot. Avoid at all cost. JD maryhill is a 1st class gym

Negative experience: I had a bad experience at this gym. I gave the place two stars cause the equipment is decent, and the facility is okay but the place has a bad vibe. I am visiting from out of town, and there does not appear to be one person who works at the gym. So I look around see two kiosks and figure out that it’s a automated system. I pay my money, Enter a code into a door the door on the right doesn’t open, but the door on the left does I walk in, and this guy with red hair gets in my physical space and says what are you doing? I say I am here to workout. He gets close to the point of accosting me and I say “Do you work here.” He stutters a bit and says I am a personal trainer here. I show him the email with the receipt, explain to him that I entered to code, show him the time on the email “just a minute ago” and he confirms to accost me and says enter the code again. At this point I am annoyed but enter the code again the door opens. The guy looks at me weird and I say to him, dude I am not trying to work out for free. The guy starts to say something looking confused and I just said “Whatever.” Not the most motivating way to start my workout. I felt like the dude was in my personal, physical space and accusing me of stealing. I won’t be working out here again, and I suggest the place gets more competent staff.

Positive experience: Seems like a small gym but always plenty of equipment and good facilities

Positive experience: As expected it's usually really busy. Sometimes you won't be able to get a bench. I've never been able to get a squat rack during the week but I usually go at peak times.
