Negative experience: Wouldn’t advise women to go here. Was made to feel very scared and uncomfortable by a gym member. A member of staff from the gym itself encouraged me to report this, and the manager was completely dismissive. Claimed the person “may have been on FaceTime instead of taking photos.” Bearing in mind this person was following me, facing me a metre away and pointing his camera directly at me, with the shutter sound on. Whole experience really shook me and I left the gym immediately. I was escorted out by a group of guys and was upset all the way home. Not sure what I’d get out of lying about this to management, as insinuated. Puregym West Bridgford is MUCH better, and is staffed consistently well. I’ve since left this gym too and gone to a different company. Please just be weary at night if you go here. Also issues with AC, broken objects in toilet, poor layout etc.
Positive experience: Often very busy, but PureGym app comes in helpful when tracking busy hours
Fantastic experience: Clean ,tidy and cheap price gym. All the equipment are new and high standards. The toilet is always clean which is very good. Staff are very friendly. They is a car park outside with 2 hours maximum stay.
Negative experience: Tired of seeing homeless people everywhere and desperate needy civilian's asking for thing's. Goofy creep's. Overall extremely disappointed.
Positive experience: very nice atmosphere feel like the treadmills could be updated though

Negative experience: Noise levels are insane during certain hours where they have class for few people. Even wearing earphones it's still loud and painful
Negative experience: Equipment left all over the place. People taking their tops off, staff doing nothing. Lots of machines constantly broken. The class volume is above the safe dB limit for your ears. You literally cannot hear your own music in your headphones. Bikes are constantly being stolen from the front of the building. Manager doesn't seem to care. If you're on a budget and you need a gym take it, but don't expect anything near 'decent' as a baseline. It's honestly the worst gym that I've ever attended. I recommend waiting until the new gym opens in the retail park and to go there instead.

Positive experience: Nice clean gym with wide range of equipment. Main thing I would recommend to put some seated cable row machines. And also few more benches , the number of benches are very low there.

Positive experience: I find this gym to be adequately equipped and maintained. However, the loud group classes can be a disturbance to all gym-goers. After speaking with a few fellow members, we share the same sentiment. While I appreciate the importance of such classes, it would be helpful to have a designated area that is soundproofed to prevent any disruptions to the rest of the gym.

Fantastic experience: Recently switched from PureGym on Wilford Lane to here, I personally am having a much more enjoyable time, this gym has good equipment, good vibes and is open 24/7!
Positive experience: Good gym. Can be really busy though. In comparison to nearby gyms of the same company, there aren't as many machines but still enough there to get you going. Plenty of cardio machines and weights have a good range
Positive experience: Typically pure gym. It has been refurbished recently. Quite a small one, but had all of the usual stuff. Did struggle to access all the machines I wanted due to busyness. Cardio was fine tho. Would go back
Negative experience: Please for the love of god calm down with the PT sessions. Goes past noise cancelling headphones.
Positive experience: This is a decent gym, quite big with a wide range of equipment. Could do with getting some more of certain popular equipment e.g. 45 degree leg press, squat rack & deadlift areas. Open 24hrs. Can be very busy on evenings especially at the beginning of the week but at other times it is fine. Requires strong willpower due to the McDonald's next door
Negative experience: Update Too crowded everyday maybe coz of the new year resolution, always need to wait for the bench and weights. I might cancel the membership and join another one soon
Positive experience: The noise from the spin class has been mentioned several times and nothing is being done about it! I’ve been a member of many puregyms now and it’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m very close to leaving on that basis alone - otherwise it’s a good gym. There’s never anyone around to escalate the issue to when the spin class is on either. Edit: spoke to one of the managers and it seems to be an issue with the instructors who are yelling into the mic on purpose… avoid Tuesday evenings when the loud spin class is on.

Negative experience: Spacious enough. Never really have to wait to use machines outside of rush hour. Could definitely do with more 20kg plates. NEED TO USE THE AC. Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean people aren't sweating indoors. Flooring under the squat racks is giving way, feels like your foot is going to go through. The clocks are all wrong. The gym gets cleaned regularly but the machines aren't set up correctly or are regularly out of order. The layout of the gym is weird, with chest, back, leg machines spread out at random, making super setting almost impossible. The cardio are good ....because it isn't hard set up treadmills.

Positive experience: Honestly not a bad gym but there is one really blaring problem that is incredibly easy to fix so I hope management sees this and can act on it. I have never seen a gym where the limiting factor during peak times is the number of plates on the weight lifting floor. There are definitely enough machines for the 100+ concurrent users in the 5-7pm weekday slot, but there just aren’t enough 20kg plates to go around. I’m sat on my squat rack waiting for the guy next to me to finish so I can grab his 20kg plates and do my sets, and the guy on the bench press is waiting on me so he can grab my plates. Ridiculous because with Puregym’s income, it’s barely a drop in the water to get 10x 20kg, 10x 10kg, 10x 5kg, something like that would really improve the lives of weekday lifters that use this gym. Don’t even need one of those standalone weight racks, the racks on the machines themselves are all empty so just slap them on there. I joined a few weeks ago and my continuing renewal is really dependent on whether they can deliver on this so please act PureGym.

Negative experience: Not one to post reviews but I hope someone can do something about the freaking A/C that doesn’t seem to be working or on AT ALL . Other than it’s the most over crowded and noisest gym, it literally stinks. Not sure how the employees manage to work there? Are you guys alright? Enjoy a nice heavy wiff of everyones B.O as soon as you enter this gym. I’m aware energy prices have gone up but Jesus, GET IT FIXED. People pay membership!! Will finally be cancelling mine so I don’t have to deal with these headaches any longer thank god

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: Perfectly standard commercial gym, but the spin class noise is completely insane. Standing at the weights area it measures at about 70dB, which is equivalent to motorway traffic. It is very very annoying at best, and actually unsafe at worst. Other reviewers here have said the same, and the owner responds by saying that staff carry out regular volume checks, but they clearly don't. Sort it out!

Positive experience: Good but the noise from the spin classes with Tom are a joke. You can hear them on the roundabout outside. Inside even with noise cancelling headphones on in the weights area at the opposite end you can hear it. What is the need? It's way above safe noise levels and is definitely damaging the participants hearing. I would not attend any classes with that level of noise. I've heard several other people complain about it too.

Fantastic experience: The nicest Puregym I've been to. Loads of squat racks and free weights with good space between them. Great apparatus for Hyrox training. Even the showers are nicer than most Puregyms.

Negative experience: Regularly turn up to classes after booking for them to be cancelled. An email should be sent out so members are not wasting their time and petrol money to get to gym. Communication is all it takes.

Negative experience: The noise level from classes is horrific, the noise has been measured in excess of 100 decibel, which is above heath and safety levels and is damaging to hearing. Despite numerous complaints to Stephan (manager) nothing has been done. Currently the manager has not provided a method of escalation to head office, despite being requested to do so. PureGym clearly do no value the health and safety of their customers. Re owners response: who should I contact as I have already emailed the gym on multiple occasions

Negative experience: Quite disappointed with castle Marina Puregym staff member 'Ricardo Suzuki' on Mon 4 April at 10:40 who wasn't willing to help for like 5min which is basically open the door. I have an active gym membership to use 24/7. Upon trying to access the gym several time it kept on denying access. The code seem to open the main foyer door but kept on denying access to 2nd door that looks like a tube. Guess I will re-join my old 'TheGym'

Negative experience: Pure gym caste marina good gym but can better better ! For the bodybuilder is not the best not enough free weights and not well organised, so you can find legs machine and next to it chest machine then chest machine… I think the manager or the responsible there should ask the experts or professional peoples how to spread all the machines in well manner (chest aeria machines,legs aeria machines …) And pure gym please stop advertising for the free parking because it’s not …! I got ticket and i had to pay it just because i was stupid and i believed what you was advertising on ur web site .is better to say if you come to the gym with you car You allowed for two hours parking , so it means you gym is not stress free place i have to workout and keep checking the time to don’t get a ticket. You running from busy stressful life to gym where also there is stress by keep watching the time. I don’t like that and this one of the reasons why i don’t enjoy go to that gym. Here 3 stars and its more then fair for very busy gym.

Positive experience: the gym has good equipment however you often have to wait long times to use the machines. would be better if it was larger. even off peak it can be very hard to use free weights, if you want to go regularly in a short time period this probably isn’t the place for you

Positive experience: Crowded very often. Parking can be impossible at rush hour when everyone is going shopping! Some group classes are soo crowded!

Positive experience: Staff are regularly cleaning. Good selection of weights and machines for its size. But peak times are very crowded, often near capacity. Being a small gym, can feel very crowded.

Fantastic experience: I attend this Pure gym at least 5 times a week, the gym is very well organised and inpaticular a member of staff named Stephan stands out to me he is always thoroughly cleaning all the equipment until it literally shines, I had to ask him if he was related to OCD, that's how well he was cleaning. He also greets all his members with a smile and good morning. Its lovely to be around such a clean and welcoming gym in these times.

Negative experience: To basic not enough machines

We have over 220 bits of kit in each gym and aim to have a broad spread, so we can cater to a range of fitness needs whilst meeting demand as it changes throughout the day, getting the balance right between cardio and weights. Positive experience: So this is partially a review of the gym in question, but also a general analysis of puregyms in general. So, the Nottingham Castle Marina puregym is a really well run, clean and friendly place to train. It's probably my favourite puregym that I've trained at so far. The staff do a good job keeping the gym clean and they seem pretty friendly too. Now, for my general issues with puregym : Squat racks - PLEASE can you install hard flooring in the squat racks. The squashy flooring causes you to loose power and stability and is just downright dangerous. Weights - every puregym I've been to is severely lacking in weight plates. There should be plenty of plates in the gym so that every free weight piece of equipment can be used without having to go on a quest to find weights. Each bench press should have minimum 140kg, made up of 4x 20kg, and 2x 1.25kg through 15kg. Heavier kettlebells would be nice. Up to at least 32kg. More ez curl bars and fixed weight barbells. More unusual bars such as Triceps, football, cambered etc. Seated calf raise would also be a bonus. On the whole though, can't argue with the value provided by puregym, and I enjoy training here. Sure, it gets busy, but you've just got to get in amongst it!

Negative experience: It has everything you need but you won’t be able to use everything you want. It’s a very small gym which is clearly over subscribed. PureGym never used to be a clean gym but Covid-19 has done the gym some good. It is a lot cleaner than it used to be.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely gym very clean & very clear that they are taking the government guidelines regarding COVID-19 seriously. The gym is a very safe place to train, sanitising stations are always full & staff are always cleaning and keeping on top of hygiene. The staff are also very friendly and approachable and always happy to help. In particular, as I am a new member at pure gym I had a few problems with my gym membership and I could not thank/ recommend Stephan Demaudave enough. I went to see him about my gym membership and he was so helpful, approachable & understood my problem. Although he couldn’t personally change my membership as it was down to membership services, he sent an e-Mail on my behalf to his team to help speed up the process and kept me in the loop the whole time. Having done this, the problem has now been resolved and I am very satisfied with the help I received. As someone who hadn’t used pure gym before I am very impressed with how helpful the staff are and it’s clear they always prioritise their customers.

Positive experience: It is a nice gym to go to but it has pieces of blue roll all over the floor. Another thing was when I had a tour of the gym the tour guide told us if we had a lock on the lockers that we could use them. However, we were not I formed that we had to remove it each time and so my lock was broken and was told since it is in the rules that I cannot get a replacement lock and all of my belongings were removed to the lost and found. Overall, good gym for its purpose but make sure to bring your stuff back home after each workout!

We are sorry to hear there are a few issues though so we'll definitely email the branch to ensure the regular cleaning checks are being carried out with regards to the blue roll on the floor. On the lockers, there are gym rules within the gym and online for members to check which do ask that lockers only be occupied when the member is in the gym. As our gyms can be busy, we're unable to allow members to occupy lockers indefinitely so will have to break them over night and store belongings in the lost property for collection. Thanks, PureGym

Fantastic experience: I've been a member here since they opened, although it was abit of a nightmare through January (which I imagine most gyms are) - as a whole it's been a great experience. Negative experience: It's nice to have a new gym so close, with a decent amount of equipment and nice staff. However, I've cancelled my membership as its simply too busy; probably the busiest gym I've been to. It takes me much longer to do my routine due to waiting for machines to be free. I don't enjoy asking to jump in and feel pressured to hurry up. If you dont mind this it's a good price, but I'd personally rather pay a bit more for a different gym.
