Negative experience: I submitted an inquiry with this gym waiting a call back. A ‘jade’ finally calls me back and was the most rudest customer service agent I have ever spoken to. I asked what the gym rates were and she said £114 for a 12 month contract. I said wasn’t interested in 12 months and wanted something for less. She kept repeating £114 for 12 months, like she was desperate to make a sale on me. When I repeated myself asking the same question, she terminated the call on me. I actually visited the gym and booked a tour and like what I saw but if that’s how they speak with you, no thanks. I’m emailing the head office directly about this Jade.

Positive experience: From what gather, it's a more than acceptable gym facility. Shame they haven't gotten back to me regarding an employment opportunity.

Negative experience: Never back to David Lloyd again. We as family have been membership with David for whole year. They charged £330 per month. I don’t mind spend that as long as it’s worth of money. The pool was dirty, and often close without notice. The changing room was too old to use. Almost half the shower don’t have hot water. Gym area is a joke. Machine constantly out of order. Basically everything is out of date and they didn’t do anything about it just want take the money and leave all customer deal with it.

Fantastic experience: Had my induction today with Josh. Extremely helpful member of staff who had nothing but time for me and my partner. On arrival he walked us around the facility and showed us everything that David Lloyd had to offer. Extremely knowledgeable on everything within the building and no stone was left un turned. Any questions we had he was able to answer without hesitation. Upon deciding to join we were taken into the cafeteria area where Josh provided both me and my partner with drinks whilst we worked through the sign up details. Again he provided extensive knowledge on how to use the David Lloyd app and how to book classes, order food, sign in and out and use the 3 kickstart sessions when joining. May I just add here - he even talked through each member of staff and noted what they specialised in - even referring to his own fitness journey! Once signed up I was given the afternoon to use the facilities with my partner. Josh is a credit to the organisations going above and beyond to provide top quality customer service!

Negative experience: I’m deeply disappointed with my experience at this gym. I lost my jacket, which I had with me when I entered the club late in the evening. When I returned the next morning, it was gone—along with my medication (due to health issues), car keys, and some money. I had left it all in the lockers, but no one was able to help me find it. I arrived at 6:30 AM and was surprised to find only one manager on-site, which is concerning for such a large club. While one staff member was genuinely helpful (though I unfortunately can’t recall his name), the managers and other staff were of no assistance. I was left waiting for a long time with no follow-up, and when I finally did hear back, it felt like no one truly cared about resolving the issue. It’s frustrating because if this happened to someone in management, I’m sure the response would have been much quicker and more effective. My experience has been extremely disappointing, and it’s a shame to see a major gym chain like David Lloyd operating with such poor customer service and lack of urgency. I hope they take this seriously and review both their management and compliance processes to avoid such situations in the future.

Negative experience: My experience with David Lloyd Great Barr, Birmingham) has been poor. The onboarding team incorrectly charged me extra pro-data days, it’s been a month since I’ve raised this and still awaiting a refund. They love taking your money but hesitate in giving what is yours rightfully back. My monthly direct debit was also taken out incorrectly and this took an arm and a leg to rectify. Something is always broken, the whole building and in generally the site is outdated and unclean. The reception area and gym/changing room feels like a 1980 state school hall with a much needed renovation overdue. The car park is packed at all times with extremely narrow parking spaces, poor lighting and faded seperating lines - good luck finding a space. They are running the DL name, but the service and care is missing. My view for you would be avoid at all costs. There are exceptionally better gyms and health centres out there ones who care about their customers, DL is not one of them.

Positive experience: Recently joined with partner and 3 kids. I have a bit of a mixed review. Facility and staff are lovely. The few classes I have attended are great. However, I can’t say the experience has been as sold to us. In that, we were told of the various classes that the kids would be able to access, but we are finding it extremely difficult to book, due to there been no available spaces. I heard other new members complaining of the same issue. Some parents told us they are setting alarms for 7:30pm when the timetable is updated and even then, they can’t book their kids in. We joined primarily to get the kids in but it’s not working for us. I’m also limited to what classes I can book, if they don’t sync with classes for the kids. I hope something can be done to resolve this or we will have to consider our options.

Negative experience: Gym is too crowded charge enough money but have limited equipment. Car park is a joke don't join gym unless want to be ripped off and wait for ages for equipment.

Negative experience: Receptionist Daniel is very unfriendly and can’t multitask. Could just hand out towels while struggling to handle member queries but instead leaves members waiting unnecessarily. For the price you pay, I would expect good customer service so this is something that could be worked on. I would suggest further training and maybe leaning how to smile as it goes a long way.
Negative experience: I have to say I feel pretty appalled and mis-sold. I joined with my family as the draw was that it would be a great family oriented club. We were told there were a multitude of classes and activities that kids would be able to join whilst my wife and I were able to work out. Sadly, it is a lie. Firstly, the only thing our 2 year old can do is creche. That's a paid extra. Fine. We knew that going in. However, the ONLY classes we have been able to get our 4 year old into with anything approaching regularity is the swim lesson. Which is also a paid extra. On top of our gym fee. Whenever we attempt to book one of the measly two classes available on a Saturday or Sunday for her age group they are constantly and instantly full booked. So currently, I am paying £250 per month for a fairly standard quality gym (it's actually less equipped than my £21 per month JD Gym, and that has the benefit of being 24 hour too). A fairly standard swimming pool and hugely over crowded sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. And being able to book a badminton court. Most of which are facilities offered at local leisure centres. It's a terrible shame but what's worst is there's apparently nothing than can be done. Schedules go on 10 days prior at 8pm according to staff - this is also a lie. I even set alarms to remind me to do it. Still no joy. So now, I am locked into paying thousands of pounds for an entirely sub-standard experience and I wholeheartedly do not recommend it to any one frankly. Oh and don't ask about the parking situation unless you enjoy driving in circles for 10 minutes.

Positive experience: Much like the windows looking out from the club room onto the patio area, the gents tennis changing room windows have not been cleaned in years. Both show a poor amount of “house keeping” - how long does it take to find a suitable window cleaner ?? Gym is great but don’t stop for food or a drink unless you can put up with the numerous people using the club room as a quasi office Great having a coffee listening to a business meeting zoom call or today 5 women actually having a full business meeting in the booths, just what you want at the gym…..

Negative experience: Visited the other day and recieved rude and unprofessional customer service from the young short girl called aimee/Amy. Looks annoyed and fed up when you ask for something like she expects to just stand there and say hello and bye. A lot of the staff in general are not too good, dont have a clue about anything and not helpful at all, Not a good Start. Then the gym overcrowded, car park overcrowded, loads of kids running round and the gym is so hot inside like the AC don't work. For one of the most expensive gyms out there, the experience and service definitely doesn't match the price.
Fantastic experience: Had a 45 minute massage from Nathaniel and it was absolutely amazing! Feel 10 times better and was a pleasure to speak to also!

Negative experience: Not my usual gym as im in scotland and i am a member of david lloyd renfrew but decided to visit while i was over for a few days and i have to say it was the worst david lloyd ive been to. The place had a foul smell its in desperate need of a refurb and some new cleaners as it was filthy the kids splash pool is missing parts to the drains and the tiles were filthy looking. Id never pay the david lloyd membership prices if this was my gym. Staff could be doing with some hospitality training in the canteen too. Ive been to a few david lloyds and never been let down

Fantastic experience: I do work for David Lloyd however, my niece and nephew are members and they participate in the DL Kids classes and holiday clubs. This review is based on their own words from their experience of David Lloyd and DL Kids! Lottie stated; I like going to my classes, I have made loads of friends and my favourite class is scooter squad and art. Finley stated; Basketball and the scooter squad is my favourite class, I used to be scared to go to classes but my coaches helped me to feel happy and safe. We did tennis camp twice and Row was very good. I love going and look forward to my other holiday camps. Ryley stated; I'm older so I do not get to go to many classes with my brother and sister but I enjoy the pool and using some of the equipment. I get to spend time with my uncle while getting fit and having fun. I spend a lot of time in the club room having lunch and dinner and they serve very nice food - wings and the classic burger are my favourite - my brother always has pizza! I attended a party once at David Llyod which was very good and fun, we played loads of sports games and made our own pizza's!

Fantastic experience: Love the club for all the services they offer, including the crèche, baby group, classes, and sports massages. The massotherapist Jamie works magic. I have had back issues and her sports massage really helped. She even gave me exercises to do at home to strengthen my back.

Fantastic experience: Chloes service is impeccable. Always incredibly attentive, quickly taking my order and offering excellent recommendations based on my preferences. Not only are the protein shakes superb, but Chloe also always goes out of her way to engage with us, making friendly conversation and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. Fantastic experience: A fantastic club with a great community. The Blaze classes with Craig get me set up for the day and Chad in the club room is always welcoming and serves a great americano for a post workout coffee. DL Birmingham is a great place to work out and relax.

Fantastic experience: I played in the US Open event today which had been put on by the club, the tennis coach Row was great and the organisation of the event was amazing. After the event food was supplied which was fantastic and made me plan a meal myself down there. The manager Nikki came and handed out the awards which was a really nice touch.

Positive experience: Firstly the good points: - the pool is a good size - the gym has pretty much everything that you could need. -the staff are really friendly and helpful, especially Chad and the others in the restaurant who always remember my order Now some of not so good bits. - when something breaks, it seems that it can take a while to get sorted. - we used to get a message when something wasn’t working however last week both the jacuzzi and steam room were broken with no notice. - car park barriers have been broken for as long as I can remember and it seems the disabled spaced are reserved for people with flash cars who don’t care! Generally- pretty good.

Negative experience: Very busy all the time, no parking spaces, health and safety not respected, everybody is complaining, that you literally don t have space to train and they still take memberships which is disgusting fot the amount of money you we are paying!

Fantastic experience: If you suffer with any sort of back problems I would 100% recommend Mayya as a personal trainer ! She has demonstrated great knowledge & understanding of my condition in the sessions I have had with her so far. With her help I feel I have made more progress than I have on any sort of pain management programs I have attended through my doctor's. Mayya has also provided me with recommendations such as books to read, equipment & exercises that I can do at home as well as at the gym. So again I would 100% recommend if you have any back problems or conditions. She is an amazing personal trainer!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member at the club since summer 2023. I love the club, gym & Swimming is good... Also the DL Kids club too,,, although I think in my opinion would be good if you have your child in more than one class it would be alot better if the staff could swap the kids over,,, as if your swimming or something it means you need to rush out pool for example, get dress then go swap your child over yourself 10 minute gap & Then get back into doing what you were doing. Over all a really good club.

Fantastic experience: Great club with brilliant family facilities. The bar area is especially well run and ideal for kids. As an aside, I have to say seeing another reviewer use this platform to essentially cyber bully a member of staff is disgraceful. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Positive experience: Have been a member at DL GB for around 4 years. The club facilities are great, as are the floor staff. As per other reviews, there is now a huge issue of over-saturation at the club. The car park is an absolute nightmare and people have resorted to parking anywhere they can as they can’t get a space. The facilities within the gym are just as packed, with multiple people queuing for each machine at peak hours. I do not wish to contact your email address, nor do I want a response. Negative experience: not good at all really, I pay for the year up top (£1243) even though apparently I should have had 10% off? the gyms way too overcrowded, with members visiting regularly from the lichfield gym? & the silly two weekly deals they put out often which brings in even more people. The car park is a complete health hazard. the water fountains are constantly broke, the machines are always out of order, & when I mention it to the staff no-one really seems arsed. It's frustrating because there aren't many health gyms in the area & Bannatynes is just as bad if not worse.

Negative experience: I pay for 2 memberships so me and my partner can enjoy a premium gym. This has become anything but premium. The gym is always running special offers, which make this place overcrowded and unbearable for those who pay premium prices. The least DL can do is offer regular memebers some perks at this time, or run their silly little offers at certain times of the day. Currently, DL is running a 2 weeks for £20 offer, which has turned this place into a jungle. No matter what time you come in, there is a queue for every piece of equipment. The temp users dont wipe anything down or put any weights back. You will never see any staff going around cleaning the equipment or putting weights back either. DL overcrowding the gym aside, downstairs could do with some more leg equipment as the 3 machines are always busy.

Negative experience: This is not a premium gym and does not operate like one. They always have little children running around hazardous areas messing with the equipment, members pay different prices and when confronted one of the managers told me “it’s just the way it is”, the prices constantly increase and the facilities compared to other branches are poor. To top this off they constantly have offers on for 2 weeks in order to boost memberships however they are overcrowded already so you cannot find parking and never get to use the sauna or steam room. Lichfield branch is currently getting a refurb so there is naturally going to be an influx of members in this branch (which is already busy) and they decided to put an offer on top of that. How can a company like David Lloyd make such a huge oversight like this? JD gym and pure gym operate so much more professionally than this branch. Overall terrible experience in this gym. Edit (reply to response from gym) Please don't send a generic response as though you are going to so something because iv spoken to you enough times and nothing gets done. You’re replying to these comments with no intention of actually doing anything. I don't want a reply to this because it’s pointless, just fix the situation in the gym and stop charging different prices, people talk. Im sure if you had employees working the same role as you but getting paid more you wouldn't be happy so just take that into consideration and charge people fairly and fix up the facilities.

Negative experience: I have been a member for a while now, use gym then go swimming. There is a new lifeguard named Zoe. Zoe is very unprofessional, she is talking whilst working and not about anything work related, as I have heard this and seen it, which she is a lifeguard, her eyes should always be on the pool and the people. As a member of the gym, this is unprofessional behaviour to see. Also, I have to say as she is working at a gym, she doesn’t look the part, she looks like she can’t be bothered to work, scruffy, trampy, and she obviously does not use the gym or any gym. Another member of the gym also said this. As a staff member at a gym, you should look professional and look the part. She definitely does not.
Negative experience: When u get there they try all the way to scam u I been only ones to visit the gym and they push me to give them my details and fill up the form I told them I don’t want to start now I’m gonna let u gays know if I can make it or not for next day they took £350 of my card when I called them they said I have to come for the gym bec u gave us ur details there no way to not come after I keep ringing them every day until they said ok and refund my money but now after 3 months they keep sending me emails they saying u didn’t pay your monthly payment need to pay £2450 for that which’s i never even been there. They are big scammer.
