Our comment from FitFit UK about Brio Leisure Ellesmere Port Sports Village:

Brio Leisure Ellesmere Port Sports Village is a well-rounded sports center that offers a variety of facilities and activities for all ages. Users have praised the cleanliness of the venue and the excellent condition of its sports hall and outdoor pitches. The gym has a good selection of equipment, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts.

Highlights from user feedback include:

  • Kind and Friendly Staff: Many visitors express gratitude for the welcoming nature of staff members, particularly praising their helpfulness and positive attitudes.
  • Good Value for Money: Users appreciate reasonable pricing, including a monthly swimming option that provides unlimited access.
  • Clean and Modern Facilities: The center is noted for its cleanliness and well-maintained equipment, contributing to a pleasant environment for workouts and classes.
  • Variety of Activities: There are plenty of classes offered, catering to diverse interests and fitness levels, making it a good community hub for sports.

However, some feedback points to areas needing improvement:

  • Customer Service Issues: A recurring theme involves some reception staff being perceived as unfriendly or unhelpful, which detracts from the overall experience.
  • Swimming Pool Conditions: A number of users reported complaints regarding the temperature of the swimming pools, indicating they were often too cold, which can be concerning for young children.
  • Gym Equipment and Accessibility: While generally well-equipped, the gym can become overcrowded, leading to waits for machines, and some users feel additional equipment is needed.

Overall, Brio Leisure Ellesmere Port Sports Village is a fantastic facility for the community, with great potential for improvement, particularly in customer service.

Fantastic experience: Thank you, Sharon, at reception for being so helpful with my enquiry on the phone this evening about the pay-as-you-go classes. I really appreciate your assistance!

Julie Restall 10 months ago

Fantastic experience: Great sports hall.

David Rees 10 months ago

Positive experience: Good leisure centre, though I would have preferred single sex shower facilities in the pool changing area. I guess though the current arrangements help families. Prices are reasonable with £25/montb for as much swimming as you want.

Negative experience: I can’t review the facilities as I never got that far however the older lady on reception wow! Patronising condescending and disrespectful most definitely needs to reconsider her employment choice as this lady should not be working in a customer service role. Luckily I have a thick skin and didn’t take it to heart however I can see why a lot of the other reviewers would feel upset. Come on brio do better!

Negative experience: The old lady in front need to learn what a reception person looks like , please smile you can make someone’s day . The old lady at reception wearing specs is so unwelcoming . Hope my this review make them realise and learn from this , you should be more welcoming in reception . This review is for this morning 31aughust .

Fantastic experience: As a total beginner to spinning I was very nervous to go to my first class, I even booked on and then didn’t go to start with. As soon as I walked into the first class all my concerns vanished as Jan greeted me with the biggest smile and warm welcome. Even though I knew I would be out of my depth, everyone in the class was really positive and encouraging and Jan was brilliant, checking I was ok throughout and spurring me on with encouragement. I wish I had started going sooner! I’ve been to 4 classes now, 2 with Jan and 2 with Magda, who is also really friendly. I can’t speak highly enough of these classes and would encourage anyone who’s thinking about it to give it a go! If I can do it with mild copd then anyone can. I was sad to hear that the classes might be getting reduced from Sept as this is a great fun way to keep fit. With a bit of social media coverage and some more positive reviews I hope the numbers might come back up as lots of people enjoy doing more than one class per day. For now I like to take my jelly legs home after one class and get a cuppa but who knows one day I might be in the double class club!

Positive experience: Clean facilities. Beware when you go for "lane swimming" half the pool may be in use for swimming lessons but you don't find out until you've actually paid and gone in already.

Fantastic experience: Used the all weather foot all pitches. They are in great condition there and seem well looked after and maintained.

Joy Oluwole Oni 1 year ago

Negative experience: I used to take my girls to swimming lessons here. The receptionists at this place are rude and quite stereotypical. We had gone to the desk to make enquiries about certificates and they categorically said that we were not members after the girls had attended lessons for about a year. I felt distressed having to explain that I did not have their member number on me then when they could have just gone through their system. The receptionists will need to gain more skills in communication and use of the brio leisure account platform as it appeared they were clueless about it.

Negative experience: I took my boy swimming here and due to the pools shocking temperature of 11 degrees he went fully blue after 5 minutes. He was later found to have hypothermia and severe difficulty breathing. He unfortunately passed away later. Fly high Tobi

Negative experience: Horrible place, staff are rude and gym is so packed you cannot do anything. Would not reccomend at all

Alicja Finster 1 year ago

Negative experience: Two stars only because place looks modern and clean. If not that two factors, it would have been 1 star. Lady on reception didn't made me feel welcome, as I approached she answered greeting after few very long seconds... It was my first time there and she unfortunately didn't explain any rules to me or instructed where I have to go. I wanted to use gym too, but unfortunately it wasn't possible as you have to book induction that cost 18 pounds. I think it's too much. Cafe was closed.

Amanda Gibson 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good all round sports centre. Plenty of classes to choose from. Could do with waiting list option resurrected. All facilities in reasonable shape and kept pretty clean considering how many people use them. Staff helpful. Coffee shop good, although recently it hasn't opened due to staff shortage from annual leave. Not why staff are allowed to take leave at the same time. All in all pretty good value.

Helen 1 year ago

Positive experience: Good facilities, toilets in the changing room could do with a refresh. Kids usually love coming here but the pool temperature is way too cold, had to get out after 30 minutes as kids were turning blue it was so cold.

Connor Cooil 1 year ago

Negative experience: Tried calling 48 times to see if I could book a court to play basketball. I called a 49th time while I was stood outside looking through the window. To my surprise nobody was there. Meaning for the hour I was trying to call them nobody was there to answer. Surely someone would have heard the phone ring that many times and answer it. I couldn’t even check in their website as my account is locked and I needed them to unlock it. But I can’t even do that if they aren’t answering the phone. I also submitted a contact form on their website over a month ago and still not had a reply.

heather odriscoll 1 year ago

Positive experience: I enjoy going to the brio but, yesterday I thought the temperature of the water was insufficient. It wasn't just me, others in the water was complaining.

Sarah Evans 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Brio by my GP after suffering a stroke. The care and attention shown by the team from my initial phone call and enquiry to actually being shown around, given a 1:1 personal training plan and being shown how to use all the gym equipment, to asking at reception for a 20p for the lockers to swim...nothing was to much. Every member of staff I spoke to was cheerful or could answer my questions. The pool staff gave advice, provided equipment I needed- going that extra mile. To top it all off, an immaculately clean and well stocked Costa Coffee was perfect place to finish my morning . Thanks Brio EP, highly recommend

Victor Feliciano 1 year ago

Negative experience: They customer service is horrible! They threat customer differently as I play twice a week! One they aloud us to book monthly and the other group they tell us they don't book monthly! And thats sounds like a massive lie. Honestly horrible service

Alex Windsor 1 year ago

Positive experience: I used to come here until I had to leave because i moved to Manchester. Since then i have joined Virgin Active so I’d thought I’d do a review to discuss the pros and cons of Brio. Pros: - It’s more affordable compared to what i pay at Virgin - it’s open nice and early in the morning - Pool is a decent size - Gym is a good size - The centre itself is big and provides a lot for the surrounding areas - I like the radio on whilst swimming that they provide Cons: - Needs a steam room and Sauna in the swimming facilities. It would’ve made a massive difference because since i joined Virgin it’s something I can’t do without after a big workout - Equipment is outdated, Technogym is probably the best equipment in the industry. - Hair dryers need improving, I don’t know if anything has changed since but when I was there it was just a hair dryer with a pipe attached. Proper hair dryers are needed. But other than that, it did me good and I appreciate the friendly staff there.

Andy F 1 year ago

Negative experience: Good facilities but the cafe is a rip off, especially chocolate. £1.50 for a small Twix and no prices on any of them. You only find out when they have been scanned.

Joy Ebedo 1 year ago

Negative experience: Reception was rude and obnoxious, not sure if she’s hard of hearing or just pretending not to hear. Rudely took my photo because according to her she didn’t want anyone else using it! Lady has some stereotype going on and seems not to want a certain people there.

John Beavis 1 year ago

Negative experience: I have NEVER known any place like Brio Leisure that is simply not capable of answering the jolly phone for enquiries about on the day departures from their own published schedules!!! Every time it's the same - either at E. Port or Northgate Arena "We are experiencing a high volume of calls ..." - no you never, ever are - yet you rarely ever - almost NEVER - pick up the phone. Why is that? It is, most frankly, ABJECT customer and paying MEMBER service. Utterly abject!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love Ellesmere Port Sports Village! It's a top-notch facility with something for everyone. The gym is well-equipped, the swimming pool is clean and inviting, and the sports courts are in excellent condition. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. It's a fantastic place to stay active and enjoy a variety of sports and fitness activities. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sports and leisure facility in the area!

Sean Morland 2 years ago

Positive experience: Went as an away supporter for the Cheshire Phoenix V Bristol Flyers basketball game. Good result for the flyers in the pre season warm up. The place itself is clean enough and the staff friendly. The seats are plastic and sitting for over an hour does get uncomfortable, I would recommend a seat cushion.

Chris Dodson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Staff friendly, quite a pleasant place. Plenty of space and parking.

Phill Brooks 2 years ago

Positive experience: The studio / class facilities are good but the gym is very disappointing. A varied range of equipment but poorly laid out, lack of aircon and the new cardio equipment already creaking and clunking does not make you excited to use this Brio. There's others in the group with better selection and facilities

Jace Castelo 2 years ago

Negative experience: It's a moderate sized gym but it has all the equipment needed. Some of the staff are lovely and some are terrible. Any account issues though even when you're membership is fully funded they'll deny access and take weeks to sort out.

MGMakaveli 2 years ago

Negative experience: Don’t think they’ve ever answered the phone.

Serkan Angelov 2 years ago

Positive experience: Gym is too small, not enough equipments for people. Had yo wait soo long time to use one single machine.

Gabriela Krempaska 2 years ago

Positive experience: It's hard to swim every time when I am there. Only one pool for so many people and swimming lessons all the time. Not private showers...all together men, womens and children. Not enough machines in the gym, mostly young people on their mobiles sitting on machines.

Positive experience: Definitely need a Sauna and steam room. The monthly fee is not cheap so not sure why they can’t install those minimum facilities.

Positive experience: Couldn't comment much on the amenities as was there to assist in local elections vote counting in the huge sports hall. Nice little Costa near the entrance.

liz rowlands 2 years ago

Negative experience: Message to Sarah on the front desk. I was considering joining brio because I have friends here but after a 5 minute conversation with you I'd rather set my money on fire. Your delusions of grandeur surprised me considering youre clearly about as educated as a wet sock, absolutely no need to speak to people like you do. You shut me down and were rude beyond belief. Your customer service was appaling and you should be ashamed of the way you speak to people I've met walls with more manners than you. I think you should consider a new job away from the general public. Maybe change your name to Karen.

Positive experience: Really friendly and helpful staff. The gym is pretty good, and the pool is full size. It's just lacking a jacuzzi, steam room, and a well run cafe with a menu and opening times

Positive experience: Great classes. Just don't like the open shared showers. Shower Cubicles would be nicer

olivia ellis 2 years ago

Negative experience: The gym is ok but the staff there at the desk and the managers are absolutely appalling honestly if you don’t like your job find another one instead of ruining other peoples day. I walked an hour to the gym today by myself and it was after 6pm and i’m 15 and they wouldn’t let me in and the way one of the managers spoken to me was disgusting when I was just asking calm simple questions. i’m in that gym most days at 8pm so why is a sunday different? it’s pathetic the way some people choose to portray themselves to their PAYING customers.

Matthew Harding 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The athletics track is the home of West-Cheshire AC. We borrowed the well equipped 6-lane running track, which is in reasonable condition, for a Deeside club session... shhh, don't tell! The rubberised surface has some give, meaning it is good for middle-distance & okay for top-end sprint speed, but can sap the energy of wheelchair-based athletes a bit. Good quality changing facilities are available in the main building by the car park. On race days, toilets are also available in the club-house by the track.

Positive experience: Had a great time watching the basketball game here. Great atmosphere although not the most comfortable seats we've sat in

Martyn French 2 years ago

Positive experience: UPDATE...Managed to finally get in, during a lane swim which was nice, however even though it says lane swim, over half the pool was not lane swimming, it was kids lessons which meant the lanes filled up quickly and became quite cramped. might be nice to have a full lane swim at some times. Rest of the place was nice, clean, easy to navigate and plenty of lockers. I've put 2 because it's classed as dislike, rather than hate. My question is, is the pool even accessible? I've come here 4 times now, asked reception and every time they've said the pool is closed, or closed until this time or in use for trainings/events. Even when I've checked online and the timetable just says lane swim. And there is also 2 more signs up in there advising there is more pool closures this week and next.

Sophie Irving 2 years ago

Negative experience: When I arrived to pick my child up from the basketball game phoenix vs Patriots I was appalled at the member of staff shouting at my child and his friends at the top of her voice who were just sitting waiting to be picked up need to employ staff who know how to work with children rest assured I approached her and told her not to speak to my child like that. My child enjoys these events through his school but if happens again will make a formal complaint.

Vicki Colyer 3 years ago

Positive experience: Great venue for gym swimming and classes. Fairly new so always feels clean and fresh compared to some of the other centres

Paul Greatwich 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great fun and floats session for our younger kids. Not sure why the lifeguard said our 2 year old must wear armbands last time as he's never required them before.

Lauren-Elise Howard 3 years ago

Positive experience: I use the gym, which is clean and has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are always smiley and helpful.

Helen Cowan 3 years ago

Negative experience: Pools cold, even the baby pool sent my 2 year old blue in 10 mins and he had to get out..such a waste of money! There is always a member of staff that is incredibly rude and insulting. When I was pregnant she shouted "EGG!!!!!!" at me and pointed from the other end of the pool! She also made my eldest terrified of water at th swim a song session. Only went once as he wouldn't get in a bth after she kept pulling him under the water at 9 months old. I avoid going there for swimmingat all costs

Mark Harris 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very easy gym to use. No fuss very enjoyable.

Kawindu Athauda (Kevin) 3 years ago

Negative experience: Place is great, but they need to change the music in there because it's depressingly unmotivating. Like who wants to listen to Miley Cyrus while deadlifting 150kg, jus put a Spotify gym playlist on its way better and it changes the songs every week

John-Paul Smith 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great swimming facilities for adults with young kids, separate heated pool and dedicated sessions with floats/water toys provided including lots of guards on duty. Not expensive at all with free parking.

Adel Daaboul 3 years ago

Positive experience: EPSV has good facilities and good management. I find the monthly subscription good value for money. The swimming pool is good and reasonably clean. The water temperature is kept at 29.1 or slightly higher. However, only two staff members have smiled at me. I would have given 5 stars if the staff were more welcoming.

Negative experience: Beautiful building with lots going on except the staff were not nice at reception, could do with some more customer service training.

Robyn Mercer 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great staff and great facilities. I was given a gym tour by a man named Bradley who went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable to use the gym, kindly explaining and demonstrating on how to use all of the equipment. I would highly recommend

MIKE CHUNG 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Joined the gym here but using the courts to play badminton. The man who showed me round for induction very helpful and polite

paul emery 3 years ago

Negative experience: Embarrassingly they want to charge £15 for and induction before being allowed into the gym As a gym goer for 10+ yrs I find this very disappointing especially as it's a very limited gym too. I will not be attempting to use again. If I could give zero stars I would

Ken Kennedy 3 years ago

Negative experience: Tried to call 4 times today to enquire about a membership and they didn't answer the phone once. After looking ar the reviews about reception staff and my experience today. It has put me off joining. Popped in since on the off chance. Won't be joining as they don't do a family membership. A community leisure centre that's run by the council that don't do a family membership. Just another way for CWAC to squeeze money out of its residents

Carole Chung (Mamma) 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Had induction very helpful x shown around could ask questions good service x

Melanie Fellows 3 years ago

Positive experience: Is kept really clean, loads of classes to do. Big swimming pool. Gym OK could do with a few more machines. Gym too busy to use normally, very few times when you can do the work out you want to do.

Jim Wood 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Brilliant place, great staff, great prices, excellent swimming pool. Highly recommended.

Amy Pringle 3 years ago

Negative experience: If you took note of the complaints about the rudeness of some of your reception staff, Brio would be a valuable service! The older blonde lady is a disgrace! Tutting, raising her brows and huffing at you, speaking to you like dirt! Not valuable customer service at all and worst still, you wouldn’t stand for it from us! Such a shame, the old team in the Epic were lovely! Really pulling your ratings down! North gate and christleton are lovely! You need to look into this and work on training your staff to be kind and compassionate. There are enough people out there who would love that job!

Ceri Ceejay 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Really nice place, good facilities, lots of different sorts on offer. Table tennis club is very good.

Louis Lee 3 years ago

Negative experience: Pointless buying a membership if your under 16 since there are extremley limited times you are actually able to use the gym, and i am constantly turned away from the gym since I cannot make it in the time periods available for under 16's despited the fact ive been going for over a year now.

Michael Ruddick 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Can't believe some of these reviews. Joined the Brio group to use the gyms in the area. First time at this one and the staff were beyond helpful. Gym is small but great and some of the equipment is new even to an old gym goer like me. Thanks in particular to the young staff member who showed me where to go etc. Very good staff.... Maybe you get what you give?

Fantastic experience: Visited as Chester pool closed due to a new heater being fitted. Diane at reception gave me a lovely welcome, and even offered me 20p for the locker, as just came with my pass, returned this with respect! Great lane swim, locker/changing area cleaned constantly, enjoyed it, I will be back, thank you.T.

Positive experience: Took my grandsons to tumble tots lots of toys and equipment clean and tidy premises.

james dodd 3 years ago

Negative experience: Been a member for a few months and my overall experience with the gym and gym staff have been positive. What really let's the place down is the desk staff! They are rude and unhelpful, looking at previous reviews I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed by now.

Fantastic experience: Visited there with a Patient to look arround. Staff very welcoming and helpful.

Fantastic experience: The organisation of the swimming sessions during the pandemic restrictions were first class. Difficult to see how they could have been better. They set a very high standard all round. I have always found the staff hepfull. My experience is limited to the pool, reception and cafeteria.
