Positive experience: Very clean gym but it's just way too busy for the size of it

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend PureGym Giffnock, it’s such a nice friendly atmosphere and all the staff are fab. Negative experience: Crap gym, broken equipment and never clean.
Hi Maree, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible. If you have any concerns about specific pieces of equipment in your gym, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. Thanks, PureGym

Negative experience: Tried the gym once, Far too busy then i seen the the CEON on TV supporting Israel. No way i can give money to a gym like that.

Fantastic experience: My first visit to PureGym, it was 0730 and busy, it was very well equipped, all machines were good and solid, instructions easy to follow, staff were helpful, (Aimie) a good experience.

Positive experience: Good choice of machines but no sanitising sprays & blue roll to clean down machines after each use is quite off putting
Hi Geri, thanks for leaving us this review. PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols to help keep our members and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, with the reduced risk and in line with the Government’s ending of legal restrictions, we have decided to remove self-cleaning stations in our gyms, which will also support our sustainability objectives by reducing our paper towel waste. We’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. Positive experience: Was in puregym giffnock this evening, with a friend and after a workout the friend needed a shower. So had to go into the disabled shower with them to assist them, when the PT knocked the door several times to which we came out and he informed us that 2 people aren't allowed in the disabled shower. To which he says he is going to flag up with management which will result in being suspended and this has happened before. Where in the rules does it say 2 people are not allowed in the disabled shower or is PT discriminating against people with disabilities as this is the same PT that flagged this up before in which resulted in being suspended for this matter. Fantastic experience: Since joining PureGym Giffnock when it opened last year I have felt welcome, comfortable and supported. Negative experience: It's inexpensive however the staff treated my bad and the equipment was all sweaty, no cleaning whatsoever! Im appalled and disappointed

Negative experience: I never did get my money back after initially joining online before the gym was open to the public, having been falsely informed of the gyms opening date. Beyond disgraceful for a well known business and brand. For this alone, I will never return to 'Pure Gym'. I'd encourage others to do the same.

Negative experience: Awful gym, saw a video were they barred someone for speaking about the genocide happening in Palestine. Clearly they don’t value people and humanity, staff and CEO are in favour of genocide. If you want too see the video yourself just search it on TikTok. Furthermore they have not even made any further comments on the below situation.
Negative experience: Terrible gym, terrible brand, poor standards. Pay a bit more and use a proper gym.

Fantastic experience: PureGym in Giffnock looks amazing, fresh, clean, specious to work out without other gym goers being in your space. I went to view the gym during busy hours and it was packed but still you can workout freely with plenty of spaces! Personally really liked the idea of how bright the gym is and looking to the outside!

Fantastic experience: This is my gym and I like it cause you go in for your thing and leave no one hassles you and you get your workout done. Just got to time it as at times can get very busy and can be frustrating at times when you have to use a machine to finish off and have to wait for it

Positive experience: It’s a great gym space - it’s still new. But I do find it unhygienic and disgusting that patrons do not wipe down equipment after use and or use a towel. These are basic hygiene standards. Anyway, I’ve cancelled my membership. I was going to upgrade so that I have access to a different PureGym facility when i travel for work but having read the reviews of this other PureGym I’ve decided against this. Disappointing.
Positive experience: Its a good gym, but the airflow is definitely letting it down. I can only imagine how harsh it'd be to train in there when summer hits.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Fantastic experience: I have been a PureGym member for many years now, but none compare to the genuinely great experience I have had at the Giffnock gym. Management and staff are incredibly helpful and friendly - very engaged in their members and continuously doing things to get people involved in their wee community. I'm changing gyms due to moving to a different city and I'm genuinely going to miss this gym so much. Highly recommended ❤️

Positive experience: Great gym with lots of equipment. Can get a bit busy at peak times and very warm. If it was cooler it would be getting five stars. Could also do with a one way system in the car park too.

Negative experience: Trying to cancel membership. Showers aren't very private and far from the changing area. The gym is way too busy, I've thought of leaving because I can't get to workout. Now trying to cancel the membership and it's going round in circles, it's a core membership so I go to manage and select cancel, it then asks me to click a button that takes me back to the beginning of the website again! I have taken a video of the issue. Not impressed.

Positive experience: The gym is fantastic, it is very well equiped and has a good variety of classes. All the staff are lovely and friendly. The only negative is the lack of cleaning equipment or sprays. when you do classes all the sweaty mats just go back on the rail for the next person to use. i feel a good wipe down is required.

Negative experience: First time thoughts got all the equipment u need it's All new ect . But as for cleaning there is no cleaning stations I understand the price reflects but would rather pay more to be able to use clean equipment. Place will be crawling in months this is how diseases spread!!

Negative experience: Great equipment only issue a really have is there is no cleaning stations every other gym has them no its not due down to waste disposal cause every other gym would be the same then . Within a few months the gym equipment will be disgusting

Positive experience: Been to a few Southside gym's over the past few years. This has to be one of the best equipped I've been too. Decent sized space too. It can get busy during peak and with kids from school, but not to a point were there is any serious waiting time on equipment. As mentioned in a few reviews the biggest problem is ventilation and temperature. After a couple of warm up sets it feels more like I'm participating in hot yoga, rather than a standard gym. The space gets hot! too hot!! Quite a few people in the gym I've talked to share the same opinion, and this seems to be an on going issue as well. Hopefully it gets fixed soon, as it takes the enjoyment out of the workouts with how uncomfortable it is. One further comment, would be good to have some extra mirrors by the astro grass running strip. A lot of people deadlift here and it's probably the most important lift to keep an eye on form, currently there aren't any mirrors in the section to do so.

Positive experience: Great gym and good classes the only big bear is being don’t clean the equipment it’s vile they sweat all over it and walk away I clean everything before and after use Too many kids also

Positive experience: Lovely new gym and friendly staff. Couple issues though that should be sorted: they don’t have barbell pads you can use like in many other low cost gyms (was told this is not the gym’s “remit” and another time was loaned one). There’s also no cleaning stations which is bizarre (again most other low cost gyms have this). Hopefully these things can be dealt with :)

Fantastic experience: Better lighting, cleaner and smoother working machines. The only issue is that the decline bench press is under a beam of light making it hard for your eyes to adjust when and after coming off the bench press.

Positive experience: Good gym however so unbelievably warm. Cant warm up without breaking a sweat

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: Good facilities (it's brand new), however there is no cleaning equipment to allow you to clean equipment before/after use. I can only assume that PureGym is happy to increase the rates of cold and flu in East Renfrewshire, or simply don't care that their users can be touching dirty equipment (the gym is used by hundreds each day and a % of these won't wash their hands after toilet use).
