Negative experience: We registered 2 weeks ago. My 17 years old son ,my wife and myself. I have 39 years of knowledge as I had my own gym in Greece. I registered to help my son and also guide him in his training. It was my second visit in two weeks as my time is unfortunately limited. Just wanted to help my son in his training. While we were there someone came to me and told me that my dressing is not the proper. I was wearing a buggy blue jean trouser and a polo tennis shirt. Also my trainers. I responded that I don’t do anything just supervise my son. I will not comment…. After a while another girl came and told me that my son cannot use some of the machines because is very young and not experienced. It’s a rule she said!!! I said that he is 17 yo and also I supervise him. Also where are these rules written. Why you didn’t say about these rules before we pay ?…Unacceptable and offensive!! Shame on you people. You don’t have any respect to the customers.

Negative experience: Can't be bothered. Why would you have such a complicated, obscure pricing structure?

Positive experience: Friday is crèche time, place is full of little kids just sitting around..Get they need to do it but it’s like a wacky warehouse at times

Negative experience: I am a member of this gym as it is close by for convenience. My concern being the lack of clean air, air con is virtually never switched on (to cooling anyway) if windows are opened they are often closed shortly after. I don't understand in an environment where everyone is breathing more and producing extra sweat members have to take in this unhygienic air. The gym and equipment itself seems pretty clean. It's everybody's germs in the air you don't see that is a worry and what can be passed around from member to member.

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend and I have tried several gyms in the area and this one is by far the best. Friendly staff, always feel welcome on arrival. Other members seem like minded and are also friendly. Plenty of equipment - it isn’t the biggest gym in the world but there’s everything you need (good selection of free weights, machines and cardio machines). It is also not too busy at peak times so although there’s only one squat rack you can usually get to it or the wait is short if it is in use, never a queue for any equipment! Also a free coffee machine which is lovely. Always play decent music too! We feel the price is worth it for a quiet gym, lovely staff and the atmosphere there.

Negative experience: Never really liked coming here. Not at all value for money and often felt intimidated by other gym goers and some of the personal trainers. Very cramped and not a lot of equipment on offer despite the high membership cost.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym in January 2018 moving from Wyndley Leisure Centre. There is ample parking at the gym (3 hours free) staff are friendly and the gym is kept clean. Steam room and sauna are a nice touch, plus free coffee!

Negative experience: Just realised that the (great) review I had written for Fitness First had been hijacked by Better Gym when they took over Fitness First - cannot let that happen... So Fitness First has now changed to Better Gym for 7 months, and the downfall has been slow, but steady :( Better Gym has kept similar price, but has changed every little possible detail to the cheapest version (shower gel, paper towels, hygienic towels, clocks). Although the staff is virtually the same, the way they are made to work has impacted the quality of this gym: used to be always virtually spot clean because cleaners were in the gym hours a day - now it's only clean if you're lucky enough to have arrived before everybody else or just after it's been cleaned. Better Gym is also putting a lot of pressure on its members with classes, threatening of penalties if a booked class has not been attended / cancelled whilst putting pressure on the other hand to book classes - which was never the case with Fitness First. The last weight machine that broke down was "waiting repairs" for over 3 weeks - and this is a small gym so when I machine breaks down, it does affect what's available to work with. In short, paying the same premium price but with a service and quality that has drastically declined to match the one expected in a 24/7 gym i.e. none

Fantastic experience: Very friendly helpful staff, good range of equipment and friendly atmosphere. There is a wide range of clients, and I don't feel the slightest bit uncomfortable even though I am and have a long way to go!
