Our comment from FitFit UK about Glo Gym:
Glo Gym, located in Oldham, UK, is widely appreciated for its clean facilities and friendly staff. Many users highlight the gym's great atmosphere and high-quality equipment, making it a popular choice among locals. The gym offers a good variety of machines and has ample free weights available, which has been a key factor for many members' satisfaction.
Clients frequently mention the convenience of its location and the positive experience of using the cardio machines, especially during off-peak hours. The serene view of the Oldham Athletic stadium adds to the overall appeal of the gym, making workouts enjoyable.
While there are many positive remarks, there are also some consistent concerns. Some members have pointed out issues like equipment maintenance and hygiene standards. Additionally, allude to problems regarding access and certain staff conduct, which could detract from the overall experience. It's worth noting that the gym has recently undergone a refurbishment, which some members found beneficial.
Overall, Glo Gym represents a good option for those looking for a friendly and clean gym with multiple workout options, provided customers keep the aforementioned factors in mind.
Glo Gym: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Good all round gym
Negative experience: Wasn’t really too keen on here the doors where hit and miss, the staff were great and everything it just wasn’t for me maybe it is for others
Negative experience: Small gym with breaking equipment and very rude staff. I have no idea what I'm paying £24 a month for. The gym is too busy to get a workout in, so I end up working out from home. I only started to go here as I moved nearby, so it's convenient. But at this point, I'd rather inconvenience myself than keep going here. There is not enough equipment or space, and it seems as though there is always an issue with the doors downstairs—people getting locked out of the pods. The layout changed recently; I can't see what difference it's made as things are just in more awkward and/or cramped positions. I understand equipment may fault from time to time, but months have gone by and the same pins on weight machines have not been fixed; fans on treadmills are held together with paper towels; 1 of the 2 hip abductor counters don't work; screens on treadmills and bikes glitch, ending the session unexpectedly; handles on machines rip or are missing completely; and free weights for machines are missing. The list goes on. Place is a nightmare and a ripoff; the price should be reduced, as you do not get what you pay for unless you're after ill-mannered staff.
Positive experience: Have to cancel not good with hygiene Equipments full of dust anybody could tell that hasn't been cleaned for ages aport of that it's nice small gym with a good view to the stadium, just needs more attention to the cleaning
Negative experience: This Gym is small, only one member of staff is engaging,(the boxfit instructor). They changed the machines and dumbells around a few weeks ago and are dangerously too close to each other. (Having looked after Government and private gyms for over 30 years and been a qualified risk assessor. I pointed these out to the Manager who fobbed me off saying"I cant please evertone.' He is a rude arrogant man. The dumbells are in a corner and hard to reach when a few peopl work out on benches. A serious look by Health and Safety would close this facility.
Fantastic experience: Great Gym and staff
Positive experience: Better than pure gym but not better than everlast. Dont like the equipment
Negative experience: Always amending the opening times for the worse. The most recent was announced via an email titled 'Exciting News'. It's one thing to shorten opening times but to then pitch it as a good thing for members - deluded. An already very small gym will become more crowded the more people are forced into ever reduced operating hours.
Fantastic experience: Good
Positive experience: Clean gym , cardio machines are of high quality, off peak times really quiet could do with a more space often gets too cramped at busy times.
Fantastic experience: One of the Best gyms in oldham by far!
Negative experience: I wanted 1 month of a membership= £23.99, i am now asked to pay £23.99 x 3 and a direct debit cancellation fee of £25 In total £96.97!!!!!!! Surely customer service will help tomorrow ......
Fantastic experience: Great gym, nice and quite you can get on most equipment staff are very friendly
Fantastic experience: Best Gym around!
Fantastic experience: Extremely clean with friendly staff. All the equipment is in good working order, by far the best gym in Oldham.
Negative experience: Lacking in some very basic equipment. No calf machines. No abdominal machines. Used to be 24 hours opening at under 20 quid. Now limited hours at 23. More expensive than alot of better equipped gyms.
Positive experience: Great gym to work out in it wasn't too busy, so I could use the machine required
Fantastic experience: Good equipment
Fantastic experience: One of the best gyms I've seen by far. Probably best in Oldham, Manchester. Amazing ambience, very friendly and professional staff. Best quality machines, very spacious and affordable too. They just charge 23.99 GBP per month which is a very decent price considering what they are offering. It's totally worth it.
Fantastic experience: Best gym in Oldham, definitely value for money.... Everyone are super friendly and helpful. I mainly do the classes as I struggled with confidence in the gym but the instructors put my mind at ease and helped set me up with the equipment and a personal fitness programme Wouldn't go any else!! The forces fit class with Tony (its not for the faint hearted) haha. Love how they have a mixture of classes to cater for all
Fantastic experience: Good gym worth a try
Fantastic experience: Nice gym. Plenty of options on the machines. Lots of dumbells and barbells including bumper plates. Nice friendly staff too.
Negative experience: This gym is small compared to ALL the other gyms in the area. The old price of £17.99pm made it around £1 cheaper than the competitors, so for the convenience factor it was ok. Since it has been taken over by new management, it’s had a refurbishment, but it’s basically a new colour scheme. It still lacks in size, only enough room for one of each training machine, which means a quick 1 hour training session, can lead to over 2 hours, while you just hang around waiting. The real joke since take over is the price. While it’s competitors have raised their prices, on average around £1 per month, Glo think it’s acceptable to raise their price by £6 per month, that’s a 30% increase, for nothing extra, that now makes them vastly more expensive than any other like for like gym in the area, even though they are by far the smallest. They are now pricing themselves in the price bracket of the gyms with swimming pools and saunas etc.If you’re a blue light card holder, it’s only £18.99pm, which I believe is their true price point, £1pm increase, which would make the rise inline with all the other gyms price increases. So they are basically ripping every other profession off. The thing with businesses like gyms is, your overheads are fixed, so they stay the same whether you have 1 member or 1000 members, so anyone with just the smallest amount of business acumen would realise to make an high margin, you need high numbers. So here is a free business lesson for you. Make yourself competitive, make the product you’re selling attractive to people. It’s better to have a 1000 people paying £19.99pm than having 300 people paying £23.99pm. Keep your price low enough and you’ll even attract the people who pay for the gym, but never actually go……FREE money. In a cost of living crisis, you’re playing a VERY dangerous, greedy game. You continue to run your business in this manner, it won’t be long before you fail. Why pay a tiny gym nearly £25pm, where you have to stand around waiting to use machines, when you can pay as little as £16pm to not? Why pay £25pm when I can pay under £30pm to use facilities like saunas and swimming pools? There is a reason your car park is almost always empty.
Fantastic experience: Very good gym especially at 5.00am excellent value for money
Negative experience: They advertised 24/7 access but then they removed this after I paid for a FULL year!!
Fantastic experience: The gym has recently had refurbishment work done to it, including new machines added. They've recently installed a coffee machine which is a nice addition. As well as the refurbishment, the gym has recently come under new management, which so far they're doing some positive work. Hopefully this continues. My favourite part of the gym is the view overlooking the pitch at Boundary Park, just need some decent football to be played on there in the future.
Fantastic experience: Great
Positive experience: Nice gym, brand new Matrix equipment. Actually enjoy exercising now
Positive experience: Never been In traffic outside
Positive experience: Since the refurbishment its been a lot better, there are multiples of the key machines now such as Bench press and Squat racks so there's a lot less waiting compared to before when a gang of 5 would slowly rotate on the only freeweight Bench.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, easy to park, super clean, brand new equipment.
Fantastic experience: A great place to work out. Very clean, well cared for and friendly staff. I couldn't ask for better.
Positive experience: Nice and clean, I did a vertical spin and I would like to suggest subtitles on the video as I am hard or hearing
Negative experience: This is a joke of a company totally misleading there customers plus the customer service is shocking don't have a clue what they are doing in to be honest I can't say anymore on the matter 1 out of 10 all together in my opinion
Fantastic experience: Lovely olde world pub... Great staff really welcoming and friendly. Had carvery, fabulous value for money. Gorgeous beer garden at the back, somebody has really taken pride in the upkeep of the flowers and it shows.
Fantastic experience: Joined a few weeks ago as it is 5 minutes from work so perfect for early morning sessions. The gym is very well equipped with a variety of cardio machines and a good mix of free weights and machines. Changing rooms, lockers, and shower facilities are very clean, with plenty of room. Haven't been to any classes yet so can't comment on those.

Fantastic experience: Great for classes and they've got some decent gym floor equipment if you get on it, peak times are busy which is great but you'll be waiting or thinking of other stuff to use whilst your waiting to go on or use the next piece. I rate this gym though and the staff are amazing, they have challenges on every month and really get you motivated
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Positive experience: Great gym. Great staff.could do with a pool/steam room
Negative experience: Staff were so helpful when I became a member.4 weeks on I gained a knee injury which stopped me going for 10 weeks, they still took my money and when I cancelled the DD they said I owed £62.99 in same week.I tried to rectify this by going to gym but no staff were ever available.I rang and left a message, nobody ever contacted me.shame, good gym if you don't need staff
