Negative experience: This lifeguard came over and told us we needed to be in the non swimmers end as you have to be able to swim lengths without stopping. However I can swim perfectly so didn’t need that. I found how the lifeguard spoke was rude and unnecessary and made me feel like a child who couldn’t swim which isn’t the case. Recently visited the sauna 19/07/2023 I hadn’t been for a long time and felt that I needed a little pamper session . The sauna itself was lovely but go into the room at the side of it and it smells very fusty and the ceiling was something to be desired ( dirty ) Anyway i came out and decided to lay on the warm beds . Quite nice I thought then looked up . Oh wow the vents were very dirty infact the one nearest the door to go out had what I can only assume was mould spores at the vent openings . I can honestly say I was shocked with it being a sauna . Maybe the sauna is in need of a revamp . It’s put me off returning as I always thought saunas should be clean in all areas this wasn’t ..

Negative experience: I recently rejoined after not being a member for around 2 years and it's really sad to see how run down it is starting to become. Lots of issues that need addressing. * Sauna hasn't been working for 3+ months, only needs some wood panels to be replaced but apparently will cost £19,000 to fix. When asking at reception nobody can give an answer as to why it isn't being fixed or why the wood isn't being replaced. * Spa area smells strongly of urine, problems with the drainage. (Apprently being addressed in the refit on the 9th of September) *Spa area and gents showers in need of a deep clean, lots of mold/black spots on the sealant and grouting in the men's showers. *Spa area often flooded with water. (Previously a member of staff would come and sweep the pooling water into the drains to stop the area being flooded but this doesn't happen anymore) *Lots of gym equipment either damaged or very tired/needs replacing (the gym is closing for 2 weeks on the 9th of September to replace some gym equipment so hopefully it will be refurbished to a good standard) *Locker keys missing in the gents lockers, (signs posted to say to people not to take the locker keys home so fair enough the gym are trying to do something about it but it limits the amounts of lockers available) *Spa area closes at 9pm when the gym closes at 10. Does it really need 1 hour to clean/get the spa ready for the next day? Normally most gyms the sauna/steam area closes 15 minutes before the closing time. Hopefully after the refurbishment it will address a lot of these issues especially in the spa area. Lots of people only use this gym for the sauna/steam facilities it offers so if its isn't fixed quickly I imagine they will start losing members.

Negative experience: Very disappointed. No cafe to get a drink while you wait or to take your child to after they have been swimming or in the play centre

Fantastic experience: We came.to the centre with a disabled lady I look after We phoned through to ask if she could have a shower as her house isn't fitted with one yet Dawn the supervisor was so kind as to let us use the disbled shower area She was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble Thanks Dawn we really appreciate your kindness Lovely centre thanks again

Positive experience: Went for the first time to use the gym with my leisure pass and generally see what was there. The pool was small but adequate and I imagine at peak times it would be quite crowded. Used the lift to get to the gym and it opened straight into the gym room itself. You had to walk to the other end to get to the lockers, also where the shower room was, which was quite small. There was loads of equipment to use which was good because it was quite busy. The gym room was darkish and the air con was on full blast making me feel quite cold. All in all I didn't really rate this place for me. I much prefer Queens Park Gym and amenities

Fantastic experience: It's a great place to do rock climbing , swimming etc. I loved my experience they pushed me to my limits and I like that they do that. And if you say you don't want to do something like climb any higher on the rock wall they don't make you isn't that excellent!

Positive experience: Chesterfield Council operated centre with gym and Swimming pool which operates with slightly warmer water than usual swimming pools This is the only pool locally with a rising floor so the whole pool can be a shallow end for swimming lessons

Fantastic experience: Good selection of equipment to use so not much waiting, not used pool so cannot come to on that. Wouldn't say its the cheapest but overall good.

Positive experience: Would be 5, but changing rooms, especially showers are outdated. Friendly staff though!

Negative experience: Seems to be going down hill, not much working in the "cafe" viewing area. Blinds are usually tilted so you can barely see through. Communicating to members is a lottery. And lately the attitude of some staff members is pretty rubbish.

Positive experience: Great facilities for a local authority centre. Loads of equipment. Clean. Friendly staff. Never packed. Great value membership fees. My only issue is it opens at 630am. Limits training time before work. Otherwise, highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Went swimming on Sunday 11. 00 am. Changing rooms were clean plenty of lockers. Pool was warm with plenty of swimming aids. Two lifeguards on watch. Shower was lovely and warm after. Had a enjoyable morning.

Positive experience: Nicely stocked gym with free weights, resistance machines and tons of cardio equipment. Can be a bit busy at times but what gym can't? I can take the kids for a swim and Sunday they okay music and have the floats out for the younger ones. There is a sauna and spa room to relax in but my favourite bit is the climbing walls and bouldering room! There's plenty to do, the staff are helpful and it's always nice and clean.

Positive experience: I'm currently signed up on a free trial. Not a bad gym a bit smaller than I'm used to but has what I need and doesn't get really busy. I like the ability to swim and use the sauna and steam room and rock climb all in one subscription. It isn't cheap but I think it's value for money, specially as when signed up you can use the queen's park facilities too. The best deal is the family subscription 2 adults and 2 children.ovwr all I am very pleased with this place so far. There is a play area for little kids but no cafe inside.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has swimming lessons and she is doing a climbing course. I have recently joined also. It's a really nice gym, lots of equipment, no need to wait for anything. The spa is also really good, I was suprised at how nice it was.

Negative experience: Only went for a sauna and shower, but seemed awfully run down. Sauna was next to the gym, why not the pool instead, it should always be near the pool I my opinion. Forced to change in no privacy changing rooms with the most monotonously cheesy short piano riff on repeat, meant to be soothing but was maddening. Then when I finally went in the sauna it was tiny yet busy, so I tried the very old and unmaintained steam room with flaking paint all over it, felt and tasted like I was inhaling mould, surely wasn't healthy. The shower was at least hot. That's all I can say, sorry

Positive experience: Always feel really comfortable in the gym, very spacious, ok for what I need. I know other gyms probably have more variety of kit but I like the environment in this one. Yoga sessions are my favourite on a Tuesday and Saturday - great teachers. All the staff are friendly.

Negative experience: The facilities are the only half decent thing about this place and most of the staff are rude and unhelpful.

Positive experience: Nice, big, clean & modern looking Healthy Living Centre. I go every week to meet my sisters friend to go to the gym & then we do Aquasize. Healthy Living Centre is bigger than Queens Park Sports Centre & the gym is much bigger & better looking but also seems that there's more people there. You can get the bus 80 from Chesterfield Town Centre that stops outside & I think you can also get the service 77 as well. The staff are friendly & if you go regularly the staff get to know you.

Positive experience: Very clean pool and changing rooms. You need to double check sessions with all the swimming lessons that are going on and sometimes they have divided the pool up to only widths when you get there, different to the planner online and on display in reception.

Positive experience: Well equipped and clean gym, friendly clientele. But for the price you pay for a membership would it kill the staff to at least say hello or acknowledge your presence as you walk through the door? Rather than look at you blankly and dart their eyes back to the computer. No effort to say goodbye or thanks for coming as you leave either. Only exception to this is the young girl with the dark hair who seems to be the only one with any manners. Sorely lacking on customer service and experience, not just a one off but every single time you visit.

Positive experience: Clean and friendly. Was there with my granddaughter for her swimming lesson. They still seem to be having an issue with the water temp and the air. You get cold quickly in the pool.

Fantastic experience: Turned up yesterday as wanted to join. Staff very welcoming. Booked in for a gym induction and programme today. I have a chronic condition that made me anxious about restarting weights due a very high likelihood of injuring myself if I attempt to much . Yaz did my gym induction. He was knowledgeable and supportive. He put together a realistic programme for me so I can start working out safely and still function in my day job. Also used the spa facilities, which were great. Everywhere was clean. So far really impressed

Negative experience: Today we thought we'd go swimming and looked at the website information whether we had to book in for the session or not. There was no information regarding this so it looked as though we could just turn up and swim. Arriving there we were told we'd have to book in for the session and that we had to be a member. I asked if we can do this online and they gave us a form for my wife and our children. So I'll have to fill the form in and deliver the form for them to give us the membership cards, then I can go home and pay for the swimming session online. Then drive the family to go swimming. I noticed Margaret Drury reviewed a month ago mentioning "online this online that" yet when it comes to becoming a member it's definitely not online this and online that. Not having the opportunity to go swimming today has annoyed me and my children were so disappointed, tearful even. Why on earth haven't you made it very clear to potential customers on your website that you need to book in for the session and that you have to be a member? Chesterfield Council want more people to drive less but haven't had the simple foresight people need to book in. Incredibly disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Glad this place is back open, Time Spa. Needed all the lockdown lumps and tension massaging away and went Swedish style this time...a first, but won't be the last. Great offers, clean facilities and skilled masseuse

Fantastic experience: Well equipped gym, all staff helpful. The booking system works well. Swimming area always spotlessly clean and always get a swimming session when we want one. I just wish there was an app to make booking easier and enable you to cancel classes online if required (the phone lines are always quite busy!)
