Our comment from FitFit UK about The Grange Community and Leisure Centre:
The Grange Community and Leisure Centre is a fantastic local hub located in Midhurst, UK, offering a variety of activities and facilities for all ages. Visitors praise its friendly staff and well-maintained spaces that cater to both fitness enthusiasts and the general community.
Highlights of The Grange include:
- Wide Range of Activities: From table tennis and bridge to fitness classes, there are plenty of options for everyone.
- Excellent Facilities: Features include a gym, squash courts, event spaces, a library, and a cozy café.
- Accessibility: The centre is conveniently located next to Midhurst South Pond, perfect for a leisurely nature walk.
- Parking: A large parking area free for the first 2 hours increases accessibility for visitors.
- Community Focus: Regular events and markets, providing vibrant activities throughout the year.
However, some users have noted areas for improvement, such as the need for equipment upgrades in the gym, occasional overcrowding during peak times, and mixed experiences regarding food service in the café. There is also feedback regarding the pricing of café items and the lack of cash payment options.
Overall, The Grange Community and Leisure Centre remains a beloved asset to Midhurst, offering a blend of recreational and community-focused amenities that cater to the needs of its residents.

The Grange Community and Leisure Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Sports leasure centre that also holds events. Indoor squash courts plus other activities, but we attended a non sports related event at the venue. Large car park, but it was full for the very large event we attended.
Fantastic experience: Very happy to use this facility. Not too busy, at the times I visit. Friendly staff and good range of activities. Plus, its also the library. Having a large car park also helps. Free for the first 2 hours so, that's also useful.
Fantastic experience: I use The Grange every week, to play table tennis and bridge, which at my great age I find invaluable in keeping me fit and alert! The facilities are good, and the staff very friendly.
Positive experience: Local sporting and community centre.
Fantastic experience: Lovely building, great atmosphere and lovely coffee and cakes
Positive experience: Right next door to Midhurst South Pond for a walk through nature.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic modern setup which is thoughtful and useful for the local community. Attended a birthday party here and it was extremely well priced and well organised. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great gym and facilities, West Sussex council really should be praised for building such terrific facilities.
Positive experience: Raised more money for Barnardos at centre nice clean and little cafe
Fantastic experience: Visited model engineering show at this fantastic venue. Cafe was very good
Fantastic experience: It's our local community hub. Lot's going on throughout the year and we'll supported. Eclectic variety of sports, beauty, coffee shop etc all on offer. Library too. Parking is excellent . Always clean and staff helpful and deliver good customer service, with a smile.
Positive experience: Decent enough gym although slightly dated.Main problem is the influx of school children who i presume have free membership who hang around the equipment looking at there phone/themselves and messing around.
Fantastic experience: Excellent. Good service and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Very comfortable. Lots of activities
Negative experience: Cashless but does not state any where
Positive experience: The sale held here was well worth a visit, but .... here we have a modern building , community and leisure centre with no air conditioning ridiculous. Or do they only put it on for certain events?. It was so unbearably hot in the main sports hall. ☆☆Buyer beware☆☆ When buying refreshments , Ingredients aren't listed on individual items so there is a risk to anyone with allergies. they do not display their price list or individual prices of items. At least if they do, it wasnt on the board behind the counter or anywhere obviously visible. Only 3 specials were advertised at £3.85. A Small coffee is 2.95 and a panini is 6.20!!! This is extortionate . Costa and Starbucks are far cheaper and better quality!!!! You only find out the prices when you pay for your order. This is a trading standards issue. Not only that, they do not accept cash !!!! Not everyone has a bank card . This needs to be considered. Maybe if they took cash as payment the refreshments would be cheaper ? Food prep and hygiene. The paninis were supposed to be served hot, however they were only lightly toasted and the food inside was only slightly warm and still chilled in places. The cheese was not melted at all, not as I would have expected a toasted panini to be. This is unacceptable when heating a food it should be the correct hot temperature to avoid food poisoning, especially as some of them had ham inside. There is also cross contamination risk as I observed the same knife was used to cut the meat ones and the vegetarian ones. I did not see a valid food hygiene rating displayed and environmental health would be very interested to know about the food prep here. The food was sub-standard considering the expensive prices charged. Disappointed
Negative experience: It’s not bad for a local gym but there are far too many PTs. On occasion there can be 5 PTs using multiple parts of the small gym and the kit. It’s far too many. A couple of them use multiple machines/stations at a time and it’s becoming more and more frustrating. There is only one! rack and this often used by a PT, there is only one bench press too. There are only two benches and they are most often in use. I’m not a fan of complaining but it just gets worse. The gym is very crammed and when you have 5 PTs and their clients, that’s already 10 people in the weights area.
Positive experience: As centre's of leisure go, this one has the big halls, squash courts and a gym. It is a smallish gym that can get busy and it is probably time for some equipment upgrades. The cafe is downstairs and times of opening are on the attached photo. Also to note that there is an attached library which may be staffed, depending on time of day.
Fantastic experience: I really love the Grange.
Fantastic experience: great place to work out
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. A jewel in the heart of Midhurst
Positive experience: It's a very lovely leisure centre, however the gym is fairly small
Fantastic experience: Love the gym and classes they provide here. Excellent value for money and such a great thing for the Midhurst community. Staff always friendly and helpful. Thank you especially to the lovely librarians who were very kind when I shamefully returned back books well overdue

I have used the leisure centre previously and it does a good job overall, and their occasional fairs are worth visiting. Always good parking there, FREE for two hours!!

Positive experience: Friendly staff and great equipment and spaces. The addition of a library there is great too. Edit- dropping a star though because it's next to impossible to get through to anyone on their phone.
Fantastic experience: Library open for self service when staff gone home, so useful. Nice little cafe, very friendly service, and terrace just outside has lovely view of South Pond. So lucky to have all the facilities in our town.
Fantastic experience: Great to be open again, enjoyed the indoor car boot sale quite well supported considering people were either conserving petrol or queueing to get ⛽

Fantastic experience: I went during the day to the gym. Very quiet and nice staff. Great Covid measures in place. 50 min workout before the entire gym is closed and cleaned for 10 mins.
Fantastic experience: great location with view on park, new equipment and nice people. Jade was very helpful
Fantastic experience: Has a good atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: We were setting up for a train and model show for Sunday really great place, good food as well
Fantastic experience: They do some good antiques fairs here.
Negative experience: It's not as good as old Grange as you can't see the games when you watch stoolball as split screen should of just been full safety glass around the sitting area
Positive experience: Lots of events, ample parking. Hot drinks in cafe are a little pricey.
Fantastic experience: Great place lots of good events to go to
Positive experience: Clean. Smart and friendly
Fantastic experience: Good facility.
Positive experience: Cosy and warm. Free, too
Positive experience: Ok gym, basic equipment. Lockers need old £1 coin or trolley tag. Rubbish showers but changing area otherwise clean and decent. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Fantastic experience: Great classes and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend it
Positive experience: Plenty going on cheap parking craft fair gym library cafe
Negative experience: It is overpriced even in the cafe and now pensioners cannot enjoy saunas for small money they want £8 minimum just for a sauna I used to enjoy it every week before they rebuilt it but now it's an echo of the Old Place it was spiritually and intrinsically
Negative experience: Market day
Positive experience: Antique Fair on a regular base's
Positive experience: Ok
Positive experience: Nice clean place with clean toilets easy to park
Positive experience: Lovely place to have lunch, coffee, to do gym, classes. Healthy.
Fantastic experience: Lovely friendly staff and great facilities too.
Fantastic experience: Good place to chill and has an amazing gym and sports hall for other things and had had a hood library for those who live to read.
Positive experience: Nice selection of basic food and drink, service is always good and the food is great the halls are nice and bright too with good facilities for all
Fantastic experience: Really useful with everything in one place
Positive experience: Nice place to meet friends, get advice on fitness, play a variety of sports. Good little cafe and public library on site. Cafe has some healthy options. Library is very small with limited stock, yet still seemed to have something for everyone. Large car park close by. Picturesque pond nearby and just a short walk into Midhurst town centre.
Positive experience: What it's got is great, just a pity there's no pool
Fantastic experience: I like this place for its boot fairs/antiques and thier cafe but it's not got enough staff
Positive experience: A good monthly market
Fantastic experience: New resident to Midhurst. Popped in for table top market. Great indoor venue, free parking for 2hr. V helpful and friendly staff.
Positive experience: Great gym and nice staff
Fantastic experience: Great community centre
Positive experience: Bigness community facilities for library and carboots and sakes
Positive experience: The local library is located in the building. It has public toilets and a cafe.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Positive experience: Building sadly lacks inspiration. Given the pleasant outdoor setting (a small lake and well maintained park), the whole area could be enhanced (ie. by inviting local artistic, historic or literary groups to display the results of their work or research in the central foyer).
Positive experience: Great gym - could do with an extra squat rack / bench press though as very busy in peak times
Positive experience: Nice place and nice little cafe attached
Fantastic experience: Great market every month for the collectors of all ages good facilities to
Fantastic experience: Fab monthly market , worth a visit
Positive experience: No pool and not many classes.
Fantastic experience: Handy amenity for a relaxing cuppa by the lake. Many other facilities for residents of all ages.
Negative experience: Library, gym and community centre all rolled into one. Pretty soulless, impersonable and depressing.
Positive experience: Great local facility for a wide range of activities from sports to monthly markets and much mire besides
Fantastic experience: Good facilities, friendly staff great personal trainers
Positive experience: Pleasant leisure centre cafe in the leisure centre foyer and sunny patio overlooking a lake through the trees.
Positive experience: A good all round leisure centre for a small town. It's got good facilities including a spa, the local library, a cafe and lots of classes etc for children. It's recently had new management and although some things have improved such as more spaces in the gym, other things such as the food have suffered..a gym shouldn't be selling sweets and fizzy drinks. It used to have a good selection of food. The staff can range from absolutely wonderful to downright rude...it's all down to luck. It's a shame there is no pool.
Fantastic experience: Good
