Positive experience: Needs a bit of care but still in better condition than eccleshill pool

Negative experience: If I could rate this zero stars I would!! Was met with a racist old white lady with no customer service skills and a lack of professionalism. Her attitude was absolutely appalling! Refused to give us the adequate information we required on our last visit which led to us being turned away this time around and still provided very little information! She had a clear unwelcoming approach towards us in comparison to the lovley white lady infront of us on our first visit. Would not recommend to people of colour! An absolute disgrace of a woman! She should not be working at ANY front desk!!!

Fantastic experience: Plenty of parking, clean and tidy, Joe the gym instructor showed me how all the machinery worked and was a great help.

Positive experience: Decent, been a couple of times on a Sunday, earlier is better it does getting busy with lots of kids later in the morning.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best swimming pools I have ever been it is great for everyone of your going with family or friends or little ones this place have 3 pools in the building a kids pool a normal pool that goes up to 1.8 m deep and a diving pool my favorite as it is about 3.5 m deep and has three diving boards short middle and a very tall one and trust me it is great also there are life guards everywhere keep everyone safe so if you are worried going as you think the pool is too deep don’t be it is a very safe place

Negative experience: So I went today to this swimming pool with some of my friends and we went to the reception and they told us to wait outside, we waited and saw that all the kids that were a brown and Pakistanis were asked to stay outside I thought it was normal but as we waited they let everyone in and especially the ones that didn’t look like us we felt that they were being racist to us as we weren’t with any of the group but only me and my friends. Then 2-3 workers came out and started talking to one of the kid and told him that he was banned and asked all of us to leave because it was their right to kick us out but we said it was our first time there she said no because you all are in a group however we were just standing in the line and then she told us to go away and I will never recommend them to anyone. EXTREMELY RACIST!

Positive experience: Good locally run council swimming pool. We go with friends when we visit for lane swimming and family swim. Large changing facilities with plenty of lockers, showers and cubicles. Standard 25m pool, children's pool and diving pool. Plenty of lifeguards when I've been.

Positive experience: Really good pool for learning swimming and diving. The teachers are really good, especially Chris and so are the diving tutors for the beginners/intermediates. I’ve not walked into the changing room in years as my son can take care of himself in there but I wonder how clean they are.

Positive experience: Pool is great - very clean and family friendly. However the reception staff are sooo rude and unhelpful. Really disappointing that you’re “welcomed” to the building with two unfriendly, rude women who can barely look at you, never mind speak to you.

Fantastic experience: First visit for years. Was well pleased the pool is well kept and first class for swimming. The smaller pool is great for children or people learning. The whole place was clean and tidy the changing room are excellent. Staff were very friendly and answered any questions. Happy with my visit will use again

Negative experience: I would give an absolute zero to Shipley Swimming Pool - in my whole life, I have never experienced such blatant racism. Myself and my friend decided it would be a wonderful treat for six children from Kenya, Africa who are staying with us and are here to raise funds for their charity school, to take them swimming- however when we arrived we were greeted with absolute hostility and asked if we were the children’s parents and that they could only enter the pool with their parents (some of them are orphans). We explained that we are hosting/fostering and was told ‘no’ you can’t and she would have to check with her supervisor… the most rude and racist encounter I have ever experienced- we left and went to aireborough swimming who were an absolute delight and made the children’s experience such a wonderful one!

Fantastic experience: Two pools, one giant and te other one is a smaller teaching pool, family and group changing rooms, group and individual showers, plenty of lockers which can be locked using an electronic wristband available from the reception. Wonderful staff. Recommended

The lady at reception was and the staff really helpful. The place is really clean. Showers and the changing rooms extremely clean. 5* recommended.

Fantastic experience: My first visit here and I found the facilities and the pool very good. The lady at reception was helpful and explained where the family changing room was and how to operate the lockers. We only used the baby pool but it was warm and big enough to make it comfortable. There was also a larger pool and separate diving pool. We visited on a Sunday morning. It was quiet around 9:30 but then got busy towards 10:30 - 11:00

Positive experience: I go for the lunchtime swim sessions. More than an hour would be better, because it does get quite busy, but the main pool is divided so slower swimmers don't get in the way of fast ones. There's a separate children's pool, also a diving pool. Plenty of individual changing cubicles and the lockers have electronic wristbands so you don't need to mess around with pound coins.

Positive experience: Attended a class, easy to check in for the class, clean, cubicles are spacious only problem is the showers are not very good.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience over a year ago. All the staff are fantastic always feel welcome. I enjoy coming to this gym as the classes are amazing especially the ones that are run by Christine the instructor not that all the other instructors are good. Would definitely like a aerobics class as I only did this class last week and I REALLY enjoyed this class as it was worth the exercise as well as all the classes are. I would definitely recommend this gym to everyone that is looking for a hobby. I will definitely be continuing to attend this gym as I really love coming here.

Negative experience: It's tired, lacking care and attention and the staff are all pretty miserable. The lockers are new, the tiling and the showers are old and you just feel unclean being in them. Toilets are disgusting and broken, it's all bad I'm afraid.

Positive experience: Great little pool, we have been a few times for family swims and now my daughter has her weekly swimming lessons too. Definitely recommend

Negative experience: Not very happy with swimming session today we had to share it with big youths who were learning how to swim terrible this was not good getting knocked all the time I have back and hip problems and at 83 next birthday would like to keep fit by coming swimming each week

Negative experience: Reception staff are RUDE never a thank you or please nor a smile! They always look like they want you to leave them alone. The only reason I use the Shipley Swimming Pool is due to the Swimming teacher’s who are very professional and well mannered. I would definitely give 5 Stars to the Swimming instructors! However the front staff are a TOTAL LET DOWN!

Positive experience: Good swimming pool and well maintained, but adults don't have much choice when to swim apart from midday. Schools poach the times when they can use swimming pool, the kids don't pay council taxes which built the pool, but adults do. So there should be more times allocated for adult swimming,

Positive experience: The deep middle (no point saying end as its shallow at both ends) is deep, 6ft deep. Would most likely ring if you are wanting to use the diving boards. Just to check they are open. They were closed due to synchronised swimming when we went. Staff seem nice and lockers are electric so need to get a wrist band from reception. Think they are £1 which is returned at the end.

Negative experience: The toddlers/baby pool itself is warmest I've ever been to but hygiene around the edge of the pool is poor as looked like hadn't been cleaned for a long time and very scummy. As for the disabled facility we'll I'm d8scusted with it as was more like a tool storage room with rusty spanners and various other tools placed on the inadequate disability changing bed that in itself was lacking side safety bars. Several Staff clothes were strewn over the changing bed. Flooring was like pond life growing in drainage channels, shower we're filthy and didn't work. If you need a dedicated disabled room avoid like legionnaires disease shipley baths or may catch it. Keighley disabled facility is top notch with lifting hoists aswell. Shipley baths needs a good injection of funding for disabled facility and sadly staff need to look at standards of hygiene.

Negative experience: Very poor customer service... When you call them they would say come and fill in the form to get a space for after 2 weeks... but when you walk in they would change their mind and give you a new statement... The staff need proper training, they shouldn't be wasting our time.

Fantastic experience: First class facilities and swimming pool is excellent with fast/med/slow lanes. Water quality and heat perfect. The whole place is clean and there are plenty of life savers around pool. Some showers closed due to covid? Need to reopen as place is busy. Only negative: slower swimmers in fast lane should be asked move to other lanes. One hopeful suggestion: could we have a sauna?

Positive experience: I took my credit card to pay but upon getting to the cash desk, the lady behind the counter told me it was cash only! I find this very unusual in this current climate. Upon getting home I rechecked the website and nowhere does it say cash only!!

Fantastic experience: Nice large pool. Early morning swim has slow, medium and fast lanes . Haven't tried the gym yet.

Positive experience: Showers out of action. Only a 1 hour family slot. However a great place to swim and play and all support staff were polite and friendly.

Negative experience: We called the pool to book onto the family swim session, they told us to head down as it was quiet. We arrived and were told the pool was at maximum capacity.

Negative experience: I would give 5 stars for the polite and helpful staff, however, lots of very slow people in the wrong lanes, for the lane swims. Further during restrictions swim was £3 for upto 1 hour, now they charge £4.80 when you get out after 3/4 hour. Bit of a rip off. Think it's over priced and I wish restrictions were back, cos £15/5 swims is alot better than £24/5 swims. Now the lanes are overcrowded with slow people that get in the way and you have to pay extra for the inconvenience.

Fantastic experience: I've just attended my first swim session during pandemic restrictions and I was very satisfied with the measures they have put in place. Being greeted at the entrance by a masked member of staff who talks you through the new procedures is excellent. They explain the one-way system, the assigned changing cubicles by a numbered band you are given when you register and sanitise at the screened-off reception area. You follow the one way system and head to your assigned changinfg cubicle where you will find a numbered plastic box as the lockers are currently out of use. Place all your clothing and belongings in the box (you should arrive beach ready) then follow the one way system and carry the box to the attended desk where a fully PPE'd member of staff will place your box in safe storage while you swim. When you get confused by the one way system (which I did) the member of staff is happy to help direct you how to get to the pool (it's counter intuitive so worth asking them!) Each of the three lanes (slow, medium, fast) are limited to a maximum of 7 swimmers. Enter the pool at the end near the baby pool. Exit the pool at the diving pool end, which means you'll be getting an odd number of lengths in (if you are counting your lengths). Maintain social distance while swimming (take note of swimmers in the next lane) and any breathing breaks must be taken facing away from the pool (so you face the poolside). Showers are also out of use for contagion measures, so don't bring all your shower stuff, just a towel is needed. After your swim, exit at the correct end and head back to the desk to collect your numbered box, and your assigned cubicle. Once you're dressed, leave your wristband and box in the cubicle ready for the staff to clean and disinfect. And then ask again how to follow the one way system to exit the building (!) The entrance way is really well partitioned. They've done a brilliant job to get themselves reopened so safely and I'm so grateful. It felt good to be back in the pool.
