Negative experience: I have Pool Membership: Very friendly and well meaning staff completely let down by an appalling booking system that favours private bookings over members looking to create a regular training routine. I do not have a smart phone so cannot access the app, and when I try to find the timetable online the website is so poorly designed, I can’t find it. On the evenings the pool is available to members we have to wait until 7pm. SUGGESTIONS: keep two lanes open for public swimming always, especially for those finishing work who don’t want to have to go home then come out again. Adults only from 6pm. Have an easy link to the timetable on your website. Respect your regular members as well as your private bookings. Rant over

Negative experience: Lovely pool, competent staff , clean surroundings . . . BUT the 'booking in' membership system needed to swim at The Reef on the Everyone Active App where you have to reserve your swim is GRIM. Just turning up for a swim with money or swiping your membership card to get in, is 'so last century' apparently. You can telephone in, but you will still need to look online at how The Reef has been carved up, sometimes inaccurately it has to be said, before you can decide anything. And, having been forced to book this way, if you forget your slot, or something happens to prevent you from getting there, no matter how genuine a reason you have, they will automatically add a £4 PENALTY to 'your account' as a resounding punishment. A £4 PENALTY!!!!! Whaaaaat? We were going to join, but in common with quite a few people that we have spoken to in Sheringham, the whole micro-managed digital system and inflexibility of it has made us walk away - and we are staying away. *Look at all the comments about it made by others who reviewed The Reef . . . many of them are negative, frustrated with this current system, but will the management listen? The Reef's annual turnover could be so much better but they seem to want to stick with their user-unfriendly, and unpopular digital system. All that money to build it, all that precious and expensive energy being consumed every single minute of every day, but the thing is, and get this, is that the place often looks empty when you drive by. Mmm, I wonder why?

Positive experience: I love my aqua classes at The Reef and our instructor is excellent. I attend 3 times a week and feel it is the best to help me build up my strength and muscles after my accident. All staff are great and we are lucky to have such an amazing facility here in Sheringham . The variety of classes offered are excellent and varied for all people. The facility is excellent.

Negative experience: You can't call them, their website is terrible to book or find what you want on top. I turned up, then got told that session is later today and to come back then. Talk about messing people around, really really bad

Fantastic experience: The swimming facilities are amazing! We are not local to the area (family holiday), so checked on the website for information and found it very confusing and unnecessarily complicated. So we just phoned through to find out swimming times and booking over the phone. We did try booking through the app as advised but again found this too tricky!

Negative experience: Love the pools and staff, who are excellent. This 1 star review is solely for the website and app, both of which are atrocious. Impossible to find and book swimming sessions, cluttered navigation and content, can't submit feedback, can't login, won't reset passwords. Shameful and hugely frustrating.

Fantastic experience: I visited the Gym which has a good number and range of Technogym CV equipment. There are a couple of squat racks and benches for free weights. The changing facilities were clean and tidy. The staff were helpful and there were plenty of other activities to do as well.

Positive experience: You hour starts when you start changing but you are some one with slow children the you will only get about 40 minutes in the pool so I think the hour should start when you get in the pool .‍

Negative experience: You turn up for a class to find that it is no longer taking place. They did not bother to let you know that this was the case even though they knew that you had booked several hours before. You have driven five miles. You then go to try to book a different class in the future to find that you cannot book until you have paid a fine for not turning up! You couldn't make it up. Absolute shambles. Okay, new people make mistakes but for the management team not to instruct them to remove a charge on the account is just so short sighted! And they have the audacity to ask us to recommend them. We had high hopes for the new centre after Splash went but our hopes were misplaced. Such a shame.

Negative experience: Nice and clean and tidy. However, just not as good as it used to be. No wave machine anymore (which was the main reason anybody ever went), the pool was very cold and there was a lack of family changing rooms. With features for small children and lots of families present there should be more provision for family changing - at the end of the day other people can also use larger changing rooms if families are not using them. Also you need a pound for the locker where other local council pools use padlocks so had to leave our locker unlocked.

Fantastic experience: Excellent family swimming, not too busy. Splash pad and pool were ideal for toddlers and young children. Depth of pool was 0.7m. Nice and warm too

Negative experience: Family swim is for a total of 2 hours on a Sunday but there is the whole rest of the day for old retired people to dodder about in the swimming pool the app says they have space but they won’t, so make sure you book in advance, this place is a care home swimming pool not for young people

Fantastic experience: Good centre.

Positive experience: Kit is what is needed to get the job done. Weights and strength area could have more equipment but does nicely.

Negative experience: Haven't been but tried phoning. No answer most of the day. So first impression not good. If they can't be bother to answer phone make you wonder what the staff will be like!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Pool is a nice temperature, facilities are good, clean and spacious changing rooms, only 1 working hairdryer so best to dry your hair off at home.

Fantastic experience: While on holiday we went for a swim. This is a really lovely facility for locals and visitors. We set up a profile online, booked and paid online. Be aware there is very little phone signal to open the membership card once there but the lovely person on reception let me in. I've taken a screenshot ready for when we return in a day or two.

Negative experience: Today was not good, was only given 21 minutes notice of cancelled class, when if a member cancels they have to give 4 hours!!! Probably most people attending had already left home.

Fantastic experience: We came during the week for the first time as a family on holiday. We was abit overwhelmed as we left our debit card back at camp, and had tried to go swimming at the campsite but there was no family swim. The chap at the leisure centre was so polite, helpful and went above and beyond helping out two grumpy parents! We will visit again even if we’re not on holiday, as this is a fabulous swimming destination for families.

Fantastic experience: Reasonable price to swim, £12 for 1 adult and 1 child. Very clean in the changing rooms. Lovely warm showers. £1 coin needed for lockers which is refunded. Would definitely return.

Fantastic experience: Just want to leave a review for Nikki our wonderful aqua fit instructor. This lady really understands excercise activities in water. I've been coming for 16 months now and have seen vast improvement in my all round fitness and problems I had with trapped nerves in my leg's. Nikki is great, you are lucky to have such a talented warm and friendly instructor. We love her ❤️

Fantastic experience: Top place for swimming ( that's all we went for as it was raining outside so kids couldn't go to the beach) nice and clean, friendly staff, water was wet so worked out well. Be careful though! BOTH times we went, the ran stopped and the sun came out as we got in the pool, then it rained again when our session finished. What's all that about then ?? ITS A CONSPIRACY I TELL YA !!

Fantastic experience: Great gym, would be a member of i was a local.

Positive experience: It's ok, poorly built. The gym is constantly having a leak and I don't think I've gone without seeing a bucket full of water in the gym. For £30 a month it is quite expensive as you cannot just buy a gym only membership. The equipment is mostly technogym which is the cheapest on the market and the reef does have a lack of facilities, no steam room or sauna + the men's changing room only has one toilet. However, the staff are good and the gym is always clean.

Fantastic experience: A lovely facility for local people. Clean changing rooms, a lovely pool and really friendly, helpful staff. I went into the reception today to change a swimming costume and noted the staff have bright sunshine glaring directly at them through the large glass windows. This is a health and safety at work issue and won’t be doing their eyes any good at all. Suggest some blinds are put up to protect them!

Negative experience: Edit*** have also found that despite attempting to cancel membership twice via the website and getting a confirmed cancellation email that they were still taking money for the membership from my account. I've now got my bank to remove the direct debit this end. AVOID! Awkward and expensive memberships compared to others in the area. Random pool closures so restricted when you can use it. Not many time slots for fitness / lane swimming. Staff seem like they hate being there too. I suggest paying one off / booking one off times to go before paying in to a membership. Also lacking decent shower and toilet facilities for a new build was expecting more

Fantastic experience: Took our 9-month old baby swimming here, he lives it and the splash park would be good for slightly older children. The pool was slightly colder than expected though, so for a baby 20-mind felt like plenty of time

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. No one answered the phone until the fourth try and then I was rudely treated before basically having the phone put down on me. Bring back Splash.

Negative experience: The Reef is very local to me and I was expecting great things. All the staff except Ruby are insular, rude and disrespectful. Having been going there for several months nobody speaks to me, not even a courteous hello. Only Ruby on reception is charming and pleasant. No one ever remembers my name I was a member of a nearby private gym for twenty years & the contrast couldn't be greater. The way the Reef treats it's clientele it should not be in business

Negative experience: There was no wave machine. The staff were unfriendly. From the outside it might appear to be nice and presence but this is very misleading as the inside is dirty and unsanitary. Waste of time. Don’t bother

Negative experience: Staff are lovely We had 3 memberships, spending £100 month to go swimming after work each day with our baby. When we took out these memberships we could swim at 6pm every evening. They have now decided to prioritise lane swimming and have deleted all the evening swims. If you want to swim as a family now it has to be on the weekend. Very disappointing and we have withdrawn our baby from swimming lessons too and will go somewhere more inclusive for families.

Positive experience: Had an evening swim here today. Lovely clean changing rooms. Sadler the water temperature is extremely cold my watch was recording 16 degrees.

Positive experience: Great gym facilities and the staff are brilliant too. I would recommend PT sessions to make sure you get the most out of the gym.

Positive experience: Pool is lovely, clean and well appointed. The water is a little cool for me, but it makes me swim, so that's got to be a good thing; the gym, which is well-stocked with weights, machines, kettlebells, weighted saddlebags, boxes for jumping and the usual treadmills, rowing machines, stationary bikes, etc, has a chilled vibe, everyone focused, doing their own training and yet they'll willingly help you, if you ask for help. I like the music in the centre, so I don't have to bother about supplying my own. Staff are helpful and friendly, and seem to enjoy their jobs... It's four stars only because this newly built centre has no steam room (my favourite), jacuzzi or sauna. Maybe a local business could sponsor the building of...just a thought...

Fantastic experience: Great swimming facilities, big pool, small pool and splash pad. It's just a shame the sessions are only 1 hour long.

Negative experience: Can't even get in contact with them. Booking/registering is laborious and unnecessary. Just wanted to go for a swim but you can't talk to anyone.

Fantastic experience: We visited today and it was by far the best swimming pool for miles around. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The changing rooms lovely, spacious and clean. The pool area is well thought out for all ages, the splash pad is a welcome addition. As a children growing up and visiting splash, I think this new pool is much better and much more inviting. Yes there are no slides or waves, but I have to admit, I think it’s a welcome change. My three youngest children loved the splash pad, we had lots of giggles, and they were able to flourish in the training pool. In all a very lovely visit and we will be back this week! Keep up the good work!

Positive experience: Go here a few times a year with Grandchildren, best to book and you get a one hour slot. It's quite clean and great for children. Today after half hour we were told that youngest Grandchild could not wear goggles with nose coverage - can't see this on website or on their printed rules, he was very upset so we had to go buy different ones. Questioned this at reception and they say it's up to staff discretion - really?

Fantastic experience: Enjoyable family inflatable fun

Negative experience: I may be old school and missing something but for me The Reef is a great disappointment. It was built to replace the old Splash, the pools just cannot be compared, yes Splash may have been a bit tired but why not renovate it. Sheringham is a 100 mile round trip for me. I and my family have been there many times over the years and always had a fabulous time, the big draw was the wave machine, both my Children and now my Grandchildren loved to use Splash. The Reef just doesn't measure up. I rang the day we went to Sheringham only to be told there was only one space left for the family swim. Only one family swim secession that day and in the height of the school summer holiday. Very, very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Great pool and facilities will be back

Negative experience: Dreadful facility, biggest load of rubbish a council has ever wasted money on. It’s like taking the juicy sirloin steak off the menu and replacing it with offal. I see people saying the gym is good and I’m pleased about that, but any facility could still have had a good gym added (including Splash). Lazy council has removed any fun for children, I feel sorry for the new generations who will not grow up with Splash. AVOID at all costs.

Fantastic experience: A world-class exercise facility with friendly staff

Negative experience: It was school holidays. We had an hour to flounder around in a really shallow and crowded square of water as the big pool (also really crowded) was too deep and cold for my young one. The splash pad held her interest for about five minutes. Which was nice. At exactly 12pm everyone got out and attempted to change on top of each other. Then fifteen people (I did count them) got into the big pool (the teaching pool now empty) and began to swim sedately up and down in lanes. My daughter would have had a nice time if she had had room to swim but the genius behind the school holiday time table thought it was a good idea to cram all families in all at once. She used to have fun at Splash with its "beach" and waves but she's too young to remember it. Perhaps it is better that way.

Positive experience: When we used to come to Sheringham for our holiday we loved Splash. We recently visited The Reef and found the atmosphere unfriendly and the pools not as much fun. The times we could use the pool were not so flexible either. We were disappointed with overall experience.

Fantastic experience: Good value, very clean and not too busy

Negative experience: A big Letdown I'm afraid, we rocked up Last week expecting bigger and better than the old splash sheringham that our family have used and enjoyed for the last ten years, the exterior gives you that all singing, all dancing impression, but it does not live up to that, the staff are friendly and helpful enough, but the amenities are very basic, no wave machine, no slides, boring was the term my kids used, take a leaf out of oasis in Bedford and the leisure centre in Coventry and you will be giving the kids what they want.

Positive experience: Quite hard to get a hello out of some of the guys on reception. (Not Ruby or the promotion guys and not all but some ) Overall well equipped and enough to be able to carry out a good workout. Not used pool yet so can’t comment. Would recommend and recommend more if there was more smiles
