Fantastic experience: Great gym and great equipment

Negative experience: Sadly what was once a clean, well run facility has become a bit of a s*** show. Filthy changing facilities, over subscribed and constant out of order facilities for mind boggling long times awaiting repair. Annual price hikes with little no investment back into the gym. Constant changing of terms. And you just wait until you attempt to cancel, which is made nigh on impossible. Staff will tell you it just be done online (good luck with that). Phones won’t be answered when you call membership services. Plenty of local alternatives that are not part of greedy chains. Avoid.

Negative experience: If I tell you that I joined in June and handed in my notice to leave at the end of July that should give you a pretty good insight into my thoughts. Classes: For me this is what I go to a gym for. I find the class timetable pretty uninspiring. Endless Burn classes (which I do enjoy but I want since variety) or virtual classes, which I could do from home. The weekend particularly has very little to offer and over August the timetable was further reduced - no reduction to my membership fee of course! Most the classes are lead by employees of the gym and it shows. The instructors are very nice but don't really show a passion for the class they are teaching. Also I would prefer to see a variety of teachers rather than the same faces every class. One exception to that would be the yoga which do seem to be lead by freelance instructors and Ace's yoga, when you can get booked on, is excellent. So that leads me to a significant issue with classes, that they are so hard to book on (unless you pay extra for 2 week booking ahead). Many gym users say they set alarms to be up at 1am to ensure they get booked on to classes they want which is frankly ridiculous. Gym: It's a week looked after space and equipment is kept in working order. At times it can get busy, especially in the weights area. They could do with some extra dumbbell sets as sometimes the workout space is available but not the weights. Overall I don't think the busyness is worse than other gyms I've been to. Sauna etc: The jacuzzi is regularly out of order and the sauna and jacuzzi are both a little cold imo. I have found the area to be very male. I've often found myself day amongst a group of men discussing their female partners in derrogitory terms, or most recently discussing how they prefer to pay for sex. No joke. There is no attempt to moderate their language or conversation because a female is present. I've never come across this sauna culture before and so what I was looking forward to about being a gym member has not turned it to be a relaxing space. Changing etc: They open late especially at the the weekend so you can't always change at the gym before class which is poor. They're also not the cleanest. The showers have mould and some of the trays for holding shampoo etc are broken. Overall: Not worth the money and a length 3m cancellation period
Fantastic experience: This place really is a cut above the rest, in a time when most gyms are cutting their staffing to a bare minimum, they’ve clearly gone in the opposite direction resulting in fantastic customer service. A special mention to Scarlett who really went above and beyond to resolve and accommodate a recent issue at my end. The facilities are modern, always clean and members alike staff are respectful to one another. In my first week I left my wallet in the changing rooms and I received a call before I even realised I had lost it! Would highly recommend this place over any gym/spa I’ve had memberships with in the past!
Negative experience: I have a new job and so can't get to the gym/moving area. When you want to cancel they just ignore you and won't contact you. Paying £73 a month for terrible service lately. Some staff don't even acknowledge you going in and won't even say hello when you have to ask for a towel that you pay an additional fee for. Some staff would rather learn from a music book, humming away to it at 6:30 in the morning than help you.
Negative experience: Definitely wouldn't recommend. The gym itself is quite decent with new equipment, however, the other facilities leave a lot to be desired. The women's bathroom is often in poor condition, something I've previously raised concerns about that didn't improve. The sanitary bins are frequently overflowing, and the area is generally dirty and dusty. The loos are always stained and the sink tops are always flooded. The showers are also quite basic and tired, which is disappointing for a facility that charges a premium price compared to other gyms in the area. I love classes and tried out a few here with different instructors but found them disorganised and more of a chat session between regular class takers and trainers. I always left feeling like I hadn't got a proper workout in. The classes I personally tried were not up to par with many other spin classes or HIIT classes I have done at other gyms / establishments. Furthermore, when I wanted to terminate my membership, I was sent around the houses with misinformation on the website and from staff on where to log this information. Super clunky website / app. I never got a response about the several complaints I listed as to why I wanted to leave, just an automated and generic 'sorry you're leaving' email, proving their customer service isn't fit for purpose.

Negative experience: Sadly this is the state of the FAMILY changing facility yesterday when i took my two very young children for a swim. The stench of urine was so overwhelming i wanted to be sick. Most PUBLIC toilets are in a better state. This isn’t just one missed day of cleaning but rather days of neglect, despite the manager trying to convince me otherwise. Incredibly disappointing and out right disgusting!!

Positive experience: Really good gym and classes facilities and amazing professionals leading the classes. A very nice team of people managing it and a sales team. The pool area is nice too. Parking is easy and Starbucks on the way out. Nice pub next doors But the changing areas are disgusting, very worn, dirty and smelly. Have communicated it to the management twice and no change/ feedback.

Fantastic experience: The first thing that strikes you is how genuinely interested the staff members are in your reasons for joining, and your progress in achieving your goals. The pool area, the gym and the equipment are all ultra-clean and well maintained, as are the changing and shower areas. I have not experienced any waits for the gym equipment, and that’s very important in maintaining the training tempo and work rate. A special mention for the Aqua Class leaders, who are exceptional.

Positive experience: Highly recommend the village farnborough, the facilities are great, all the equipment that you need and the classes are brilliant. One of the trainers “Mick” is amazing, his classes are well structured and he is very knowledgeable. The staff are always happy to help and very friendly. The only thing that brings it down to a 4 star is the changing room and shower facilities are not always properly cleaned.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member of the Village Gym Franborough for many years, I attend many classes, 1 of my favourite classes is Tara Jackson's group cycling classes. Tara ensures you work hard, her playslists are really good and she changes them regularly to avoid the class being too samey. I look forward to her classes each week.

Fantastic experience: I have been Village FRN member for more than 5 years and I really enjoy it. When I first joint I choose Tara Jackson (White) to be my personal trainer and she was amazing and very knowledgeable with providing me all the confidence on the gym floor. I also attend Tara's spinning classes and the sessions are fabulous, she is full of energy, such a hard working person and most importantly a lady with a beautiful personality. Her aura is very inviting and I recommend Tara as a PT to everyone new, who wishes to join the Village Gym FRN. My 5* go to Tara!

Fantastic experience: A gym with a community feel ✨ I was recommended to join the Village Farnborough by someone who has been a member for over 10 years which already says a lot about the gym. Being a member of the Village Gym means being surrounded by highly qualified and passionate instructors as well as a varied timetable of classes which meet you where you are at and challenge you to get to where you want to be. Fantastic experience: I am member of Farnborough village gym since 2018. This place is like my second home. Management, gym trainers all other staff are friendly and helpful. I loved to do training in the classes, RPM Core, body pump, Aqua, burn, body balance and yoga. Joe, Sharon, Tara, Carla, Taylor.Emma, Brenda ,Ian, Ace Emma and Vicky all best in their own ways.

Negative experience: An employee of this facility has repeatedly singled out children and his name is Collin, subjecting them to undue criticism and harsh treatment. This behaviours been consistently observed in various settings, creating a pattern of mistreatment Given the seriousness of these issues and the impact on the children I advise you to take the appropriate precautions so this won’t happen again.

Positive experience: Always something not working in the gym

Negative experience: One time , I accidentally went to the gym with my crocks and socks because I was talking and I forgot to change shoes. I went upstairs at the gym area and one member of staff told me to leave the gym . I was on the floor doing floor exercises and abs etc and I didn’t have the crocks on. That women told me that if I don’t leave the gym she will have security to remove me. How terrible is that? The management apologised but he didn’t really do anything about that. If I was a manager I would never leave this situation like that with just an apology. We pay 60 pounds a month for people to talk like that to us ? I would suggest for the management and staff to get trained properly.

Positive experience: Decent gym but can get very busy on weekday evenings. Jacuzzi is good but the tiles are missing on the seats, also the steam and sauna rooms are decent when they work
Negative experience: The management at village gym are absolutely terrible. I signed up for 90 days subscription they're still taking the payment months later . This Graham could not run a bath . He needs to be removed from his position. He refuses to steal cancel the account and still takes money every month be careful of the management in this gym

Fantastic experience: 10 days ago, from the moment we asked for a tour, my husband and I have felt very welcome and very happy. We have frequented the gym and are now starting to join the classes. We really look forward to going because of the community warmth that we receive. The facilities provided are absolutely clean and wonderful and it’s a great place to spend your time! Negative experience: I would expect the changing areas to.be much cleaner for the amount they charge for membership. The poo and spa is missing lots of tiles creating sharp edges. People are allowed to sit on gym equipment looking at their phones; all.other gums have signs asking members politely not to do so. If you want to exit you membership there is a long notice period and hoops to jump through; this practice is outdated and just puts people off. Beware of the multi gym add on.. Bracknell is listed in the same band as Farnborough only to find out its not due to some small print that's not even mentioned in your contract.

Our members are able to manage their membership through the online portal accessed through the Village Gym app or website. Fantastic experience: The Village has it all under one roof. I am really impressed with the selection of classes on offer. The gym is well equipped without being intimidating. Nice changing area and pool. I have been really pleased with the support I have been given from Emma with regards to my personal training plan.

Positive experience: Been a member here for a number of years and enjoy the facilities. Nice friendly members and staff. Facilities are constantly being updated and the addition of new gym section is really good. Have used a few gyms in the local area and this is probably one of the better ones.

Negative experience: Small free weights area which the staff member admitted would be rammed at peak times. Studios which will also be busy most of the time. As a walk around, I can’t see why anyone would pay £69 a month.

We believe the price of our memberships reflect the offer of great value for money with everything that is included with a membership here we are not simply a gym but a health club. Our newly refurbished studios hold over 130 classes a week across a whole range of classes. Our free weights section has just been extended to allow our members more room to train as well as our large functional area allowing even more freedom to train. Our memberships also come with a range of benefits including discounts off hotel stays, Pub and Grill as well as high street brands. Positive experience: I cannot fault the staff that I have encountered here, they have been fantastic - incredibly friendly and welcoming at this club. However, I was probably a little quick to jump the gun and sign up. Unfortunately my welcome email never arrived and trying to find a suitable route of contact to cancel is nearly zero. It's like the brand tries to make it the most difficult way for you to possibly get out of it as possible

Negative experience: Went there for a spa day. Very disappointed. Steam room had been out of order for a week and was going to be out of order for another 14-28 days! (we weren't told this at reception). The remaining facilities were overcrowded. So for long periods of time you couldn't get into the sauna or jacuzzi. Several tiles missing in the pool and jacuzzi. A lot of discolouration. Needs a refurb. Not recommended.

Positive experience: I was invited along as a guest with my sister who has just joined. I loved the pool, hot tub, jacuzzi and steam room. But.... as much as I enjoyed it I wouldn't want a contract signing me up for a year at £61 a month. I would rather pay as and when I go.

Positive experience: I'm changing my 5-star review as this place is going downhill unfortunately. The changing room lockers seem to have more and more broken each time I go, the toilets are always disgusting and unclean and I go in the day when it's quiet mainly. The aircon in the gym is non-existent at the moment too and worse when busy in the evenings apparently. The weight and gym area is still good and maintained and the people that go and most of the staff are all really nice. It's better than your average £20 a month 24 hour gym, but at the moment I don't know if the £60 a month is justifying itself

Negative experience: I have been sending them emails since march to cancel my membership due to moving away but they didn’t reply to any of them. Now they are saying I need follow the notice period because apparently non of my email’s reached them. Honestly it’s a nice gym but their customer service is questionable. I hope they work on it and make it easier for the members.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the friendliest, most welcoming and most effective gym I’ve ever been a member of! I’ve been using the Village Gym Farnborough for nearly 9 months now and it’s been brilliant. The location is good, although parking can get a little ‘competitive’ at peak times. They have a really good spread of classes over the day and the week, but they’re very popular, for good reason, so you have to be on top of your booking. I’d say with proactive admin I get to attend 95% of the classes I want to. The instructors are fantastic too, they manage a brilliant blend of friendliness and motivation, a balance that many other gyms seem to struggle to strike. Changing facilities are fine, clean and with good locker availability. The only problem I’ve ever had is that the Air-Con is currently offline (Aug 2023), totally not the staff’s fault and to be fair they’re doing all they can with portable units.

Negative experience: We have used the pool and it wasn't really clean comparing to the other village Gym facilities l have been. Changing rooms, spa and the pool need a good cleaning. You don't get much for what you pay. Disappointing!

Positive experience: It's a good gym, but the music in there is just so rediculously load (and this is coming from a DJ), everyone has headphones on, the music in the background just forces you to have you own music super loud.

Fantastic experience: Didn't use the gym stayed in the hotel, breakfast ok, pool was nice, beds comfy, nice and clean 30min from ascot make sure your back before 10 as you can't order food after that

Fantastic experience: The single best thing about this place is the staff. Everyone you meet and speak to is so friendly. I love coming here for my mental wellbeing and to get some exercise. Usually 5 days a week sometimes 6. Love it

Negative experience: one star, that's very generous for their service, as they have no respect and fairness for their visitors. They give you a couple of weeks' notice of a price increase, but you can't refuse because you have to give a month's notice of refusal.

Negative experience: Being a customer of Farnborough gym for 5 years had to cancel membership due to another payment increase at the same day of getting communication. Stopped coming same month as never agreed to pay more for the next month and was not allowed to leave the same payment for the next month. Now chased that still have to pay increased amount I never signed up leading to think that communication was sent intentionally less than a month in advance of increased payment due month. This is forcing people to pay what they never signed up.

Positive experience: It's a decent gym, quite a lot of high quality equipment and loads of classes which are included in the membership (though popular ones do fill up early). The actual gym area itself is good. The pool area is ok, the pool is fairly small (20m) and there are 2 marked lanes, there's probably space for a third to be marked out as well. When it's busier it can get a bit congested as the lanes are quite narrow. The steam room and sauna are good too. The opening hours are good on weekdays, but on weekends the pool shuts at 8pm and the gym at 9pm, I would like it if they were open later on weekends as well. I would give it 4 stars but I've dropped one because the changing areas are quite bad. Several of the men's shower cubicle locks don't work, often the shower gel dispenser is empty (though I take my own anyway). The changing is also mostly open plan, would be nice to be able to have more privacy. The biggest issue though, is the showers are next to the toilets and urinals and it always stinks of urine.

Negative experience: I have had a membership on-and-off for over 10 years at Village Farnborough. I recently decided to stop my membership after 12 months and spoke to customer services about the best way to cancel. They gave me incorrect information - which they've admitted fault for - which has led to ME having to pay over £150 to stop my membership, even though it was their incorrect information that caused this. Every time I tried to speak to someone in customer services, a different person picks up my case and clearly hasn't read previous conversations. I asked them to call me to discuss - they didn't. I am paying for their employees mistake - £150 is nothing to this company and a lot of money to me. Very disappointing - I will not be returning to this gym.

Positive experience: For the amount of money that I pay (which is £60) the facilities are very disappointing. Showers are broken and have been for nearly a year, always smells like urine and is very unclean. The swimming pools are commonly unattended with no lifeguard present and now the gym and pool seems to be crowded by under 18's later in the evening. With one of my friends being a teacher who's students attend the gym (them being 16 and under) and takes photos of him. When we reported it and brought it to light that under 18's should have a stricter time that they are allowed there and did nothing to help with the cyberbullying " it's our policy" even today and nearly 10pm there was one of their students present. It's a shame as I love the gym, the equipment and the systems used to train with lots of great workouts and classes, I just can't help but feel that £60 is a ridiculously high fee, for facilities that were promised refurbishments. And general lack of care.

Refurb to the changing facilities is still very much planned but we have experienced delays out of our control with the start of the works. Positive experience: Good facilities and Olivia have a great tour and was very friendly, just a little expensive compared to other options in the area.

Positive experience: Not only do Village increase the price of our membership but with this explanation they mention upgrades to the changing rooms and showers . It's now 16 March which is well over when they said works will begin on the renovations. The changing rooms smell, are so dirty and the showers are worse. The bathrooms smell of dried urine and there is always a blocked since with hair! Sort this out as it's absolutely disagraceful.

Negative experience: Shambolic hypocrites! I unfortunately had to cancel my membership due to a change in financial circumstances. This was a long task to get sorted but eventually agreed upon. I was grateful they sorted this and fully intended on signing back up when things picked up. Today I received a call on a debt collection agency claiming my membership was not cancelled. I have not even received a call from Village gyms previously to this. For a company that publicly sponsor high profile boxing events and say they care about wellbeing to do this is hypocrisy in the highest degree. Disgraceful Update Since responding to my review no effort has been made to get in touch with me despite having my contact details that where passed on by themselves to a debt collection agency. Furthermore showing that as long as it looks like they are doing the right thing to the public they care very little about the further mental torment they put on their former customers.

Positive experience: Reasonably priced: could do with calisthenics area facing a mirror & not in a central location. Staff are professional & friendly besides one p.t. that comes across as being constantly distressed.
Negative experience: A day without kids...not. As nice as it is and for 17 pounds for a day pass to the pool, be warned they hold baby swim lessons for almost the entire day (well Sunday at least) Not only does this mean half the pool is restricted it also means you have an incredbily loud instructor bellowing and singing for each eternal lesson. Not a relaxing environment. Memebership also seems to include a lot of kids as well.

We believe our day pass rate provides great value for money with included access to all of our facilities for a 24 hour period which means you can use the group exercise classes and gym floor as well as the pool and spa facilities. I'm sorry to hear you did not find your experience relaxing and hope you come back to try our club again.
Negative experience: Really bad cleanliness issues. The place is in dire need of a refurb. At £55 pm each, the quality should be better. The showers are exceptionally grim, stained walls, rusty fixtures, hairs, stained glass, piss on the floor. By the end of the day, it looks horrific. The showers need an over hall. On the gym side, Ive never seen so much dust on equipment. Look at the layer of dust on the plates on the cables. The level of cleanliness is not acceptable. Impossible to use between 5-8 with teenagers all over the place. More rammed than any other gym than I have experienced. Reports from wife on classes are fairly decent, although your views consist of a monstrous car park. My wife and I are certainly unlikely to renew after our 12 months are up, some of the local nutfield health gyms are clezner,cheaper and certainly less busy.

Positive experience: They need to cap the amount of people that can join the gym. They have literally thousands and thousands on a monthly subscription and nowhere near enough space or equipment between 5:30 and 8 on weekdays. If you're going any ofher time you should be okay.
